wuts best for makeing templates
kc8yff replied to wannabeeaweak's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
If you are making an HTML template, I just use Notepad. If you don't know HTML, learn it. It's the most common language. Disregard that if you already know HTML.in conclusion, Notepad does the job. -
Just out of curiosity, what does it do?

The database, for a forum, will store the data the user puts in. This post I am making is being stored in a database. That's what a database is... in a nutshell.

I didn't have any of this stuff near my old monitor and the picture seems to be REALLY dark. Maybe it's just 'cause it's old.

It is nice having people to make the php things (ex. phpBB, Invision board, etc) and all you have to do is install them. After hearing what hacks are, I think I am gonna make a stab at learning basic php. Other than that a php cms or something could take you a while to make.

Problem with IE - Help please... Help please...
kc8yff replied to kokushta's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You might want to try using Mozilla Firefox. It's free and I think it's better than Netscape and IE. -
I know what you mean by security, but what do you mean by performance? Would a hack make my forum go faster or something? That would be super fast 'cause my forum is already pretty fast.
-
I use PHP stuff (forums, etc.) but I don't know the language itself. It's not really necessary unless you want to put in hacks. I don't even know what hacks are, but I know they're codes or something. If someone could explain to me what hacks are I'd much appreciate it.Thanks.

I use Photoshop CS and a little bit of Corel. They're both worth it.

Why My Computer Shutdown Automatic computer shutdown automatic
kc8yff replied to jackson_cn's topic in Hardware Workshop
In addition to those other questions, did anything pop up before it shut down? -
When you get Xisto space, use Wordpress which is in the preinstalled scripts --> addon scripts. It is good.

There is not a free one. But, you could probably get one for about ten bucks off eBay.

What Think You Of Windows Xp-95-98-2000
kc8yff replied to gc472118's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Windows 2000 is what I am using. It's perfectly fine and I don't really see the need (for someone like me) to have XP.Although, I would like to try a Mac OS out. I've used Win and Linux, now I need to try a Mac! -
Uploading the files via the Internet
kc8yff replied to chronogamer28's topic in Websites and Web Designing
First of all, make sure you are uploading all files // folders to the "public_html" folder. What's your web page? I'd like to view the source and see what's going on. As long as you are putting in the <img src="image.png"> there should be no problem. -
Web content management Software or web-based programs..
kc8yff replied to kokushta's topic in Websites and Web Designing
WordPress, Moveable Type, or Mambo should do the job. Except, WP and Mambo are the only two preinstalled ones on the Xisto server. -
The best re-directors are: http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en http://www.noip.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.freedomain.pro/ Are you looking for a free domain with space or just a redirector?

Another reason why people are going for Gmail over Walla and Gawab is because Gmail is Google. Everyone loves Google. Am I right?
-
melanie is right. PNGs are better quality than bmp, jpg, gif, etc.As you have mentioned imageshack, how the heck do you think they are able to store so many pictures?!
-
Gokul, use WordPress. It's under Add-ons. It's very easy to use and takes a few seconds to install.

Hey, I am trying to find out how to change the image in my forum. It's the image in the top left corner (see it yourself @ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, register if you wish). If you know how to change it-- please let me know!
