  1. Well, unicycling was not a very vast influenced entertainment source before; and after the introduction of the Television and internet, major outdoor activities have been drastically reduced. Most people decide to stay at home and probably surf the internet, or watch TV (exactly what you and me are doing now ). If this technology wasn't introduced then most probably outdoor activities would be still alive (unicycling being one of them). I had tried this before and had a pretty bad experience with it. I know I shouldn't have killed my courage, but I feared it and so never tried it again. This thread somehow has encouraged me to try it. I'm going to borrow my friends unicycle and give it a go. Thanks for this thread WeLoveFord
  2. Okay, this is the first time I've written a short story and was looking for some feedback. It's a 40 page long fictional story (even the places and names are made up). If you wish; please read this and tell me how it is. Thanks. I've currently uploaded the PSD file onto my website space. If this hampers my bandwidth, then I'll remove it and upload it elsewhere. Link: Right click here and save link as (Save target as for IE users)
  3. No it won't recognise those basically because it's randomly created; and not for commecial use. Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback. I'll post more tutorials soon.
  4. My friend thought me this Photoshop tutorial a while ago and I thought to share it with you guys. I've tried to keep it as simple as possible. This should work with any version of the software. This is the first time I've written a tutorial, so please guide me if I'm wrong anywhere. And I do hope that the images posted in this tutorial are just wide enough to fit the page. Step 1 Open up an image of any dimension you prefer. I've used 300 by 300. Now press "D" to change the colour palette to the default black and white. Now press CTRL+Delete to apply the background colour (which is white). Now select the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Now when you select this tool, the toolbar displays a list of options. Select the following: Style: Fixed Size Width: 150 px (This completely depends on you) Height: 1 px (Make sure that this remains 1 whatever the width) Step 2 Now single-click in the middle of the canvas. It?s not necessary that?s it?s the exact middle. It should look something like this: Step 3 Now click on the new layer button with the selection still active. Now press CTRL+Delete again to fill in your selection. It doesn?t matter how it looks like for now. Just leave it as it is. Now click on Filter > Noise > Add Noise Step 4 A pop-up box will appear with options for this filter. Increase the amount to 400%. Check the ?Uniform? option under Distribution, and also check the Monochromatic option, and click OK. Step 5 Now press CTRL+T to select the transformation tool; and pull the selection upwards to a desired height; and click on the tick mark button to accept the transformation; and you?re done Use your imagination to use it. You could also change the layer properties to use over images and stuff. Hope you liked this tutorial; if you have any queries regarding this, please post.
  5. Does Windows XP portray a new wierd error message everyday? Well, scanning your computer with Norton won't help you at all. I've had my expeirience with it. Doesn't help at all. Try running a spyware check and disabling startup items from the msconfig (Start > Run > msconfig). Remove all the unwanted items from the "Startup" tab. If that doesn't help, then I guess there is no other option but to run a System Restore. Run XP in safe mode and then restore your computer to an earlier date. That should probably get rid of the problem.
  6. I would comment on the design but the layout is made by someone else.I presume that the online community is pretty new. I'd suggest that you reduce the number of forums at first and gradually increase them as the members or post counts increase. Providing with too many forums at first seems quite complicated.
  7. Basically, it's not about leaving your computer on. It's about leaving your internet connection on. And yes, in some cases it's true that if you leave your internet connection on for too long your computer is more prone to viruses, spywares, adwards, and stuff of those sort. And it also depends the way you use your computer. I mean the software you install. Software that run in your background (like Kazaa) will have more probability of acquiring a virus than a computer without one. Post a reply if you need more explanation. Hope this helped.
  8. Try running your OS on safe mode for a while. Keep it idle, and see if this problem still occours. If it doesn't happen (in the safe mode) then there is a possibility of an external program installed in your computer that is causing this hijack. Run MSConfig (Start > Run > msconfig) and shut off all unwanted items from the start-up and try running your PC then. It could also be a hardware failure. If nothing works, then I guess you'll have to purchase a new one. Or probably try borrowing one from your friends to try.
  9. You already have a concept in mind (a personal website).First of all, if you're designing your own graphics, you'll have to decide on the colour scheme. Pick your favorite colours if you're confused; because if you don't enjoy the colours, no one else would. To make your website more interesting; try to make your website more unique. For instance, try uploading content which probably no other website (or a very less number of websites) would have. This would not only attract new members to your website; but also enable you to bring them back! :PKeep your website simple, don't overdo anything. Users prefer websites with simple and straightforward navigation. An online community would prove healthy as well.Hope that helps.
  10. Wow, that was really short and nice. It sure does provide an overall soothing effect to the image. Although, what I'd like to know is if this "blueish" effect would be implemented on any type of image? I mean even if it has more overall red in the image than blue?
  11. Sitting through 24 hours would be living hell for me because I have never been a fan of this series. I've tried watching it a couple of times but it doesn't provide me with the excitement to return and watch it again. It's more like a "watch-when-nothing-else-is-on" kind of series. Although many of my friends are big 24 buffs. This news will really excite them. Thanks.
  12. Yup, I agree. It's really a challenge to understand what runs through the minds of women/girls who do this. Please don't flame me or anything, but I think that is a method to attract the person of the opposite sex; primarily because they don't do this in front of other girls (or probably I don't know). I really think that when a guy actually complements a girl by telling her that she is pretty; she should accept it and not let the whole thing down by declaring that "she isn't". Really bothers me as well.
  13. Okay, and the concept of this thread is?It wouldn't be very wise to open up a topic and discuss irrelevent stuff. I'm not sure if this is allowed on the forums or not.
  14. Probably search engines should write down a script which would enable the "crawlers" to recognise any page as a splash page (probably the person who creates the website should add a sort of something which would make it recognisable for crawlers). That way when the crawler access the page they would be redirected to where the actual content of the website is stored. That would certainly enhance the quality of the searches. I don't think it's very difficult too.
  15. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce a competition for the Xisto community members. The competition could have many categories like "Best design for a website", "Best content for a website", "Best overall website", etc. (of course all of them would be Xisto hosted). Hosted members could submit their websites for the catagories and probably be selected by member vote or by selecting certain members as judges to decide the winners. A reward of some sort would make things even more interesting (could be like increase in the number of hosting days every month, etc). I just thought it would make things interesting. This would also ensure that the creative talents of many members don't just get wasted. What say?
  16. You could use it just like any other tool.
  17. I'm an Indian (though I was born and brought up in Dubai). I've been to India only for about 1 year probably, but surely did enjoy it primarily because my relatives lived there. Although, India is not a very good place to live (according to me). This is because I've been living in Dubai for quite a long and living in India wouldn't please me much. The hygenic conditions and pollution are not for me. My doctor has adviced me to stay away from any sort of dust or pollution for my lungs; so living in India is a big no no for me.
  18. First of all, I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. I don't know if you're tried this website out or not. All you have to do is think of anything and the website will ask you questions and will provide options for you to answer and will try to guess what you were thinking of. This is really great. Follow this link to try it out.
  19. This is one such thing that I haven't encountered in my life and I'm pretty glad I haven't. Although all of this seems spooky, there is a scientific reasioning behind this phenomena. I'm not sure of what exactly it is, but I had seen a whole series of the running on Discovery Science where people would send in photographs in which they claimed to have seen "something"; but were given a scientific explanation with proof. What I mean by proof is that these people would actually create a scenario and click photographs and come up with something simillar to what people had sent in proving that it had some explanation behind it.
  20. Wow, I didn't know this was possible. I guess, people with free time can do anything they want with any piece of equipment they own. Really amazing.
  21. I have to double that. I'm using a 56k modem, and after every 10 seconds the page refreshes. If this needs to be implemented there should be an option to enable or disable this. This needs to be rectified.
  22. Looks good. Needs more. This would definitely be a good base for a nice design. You should try adding a little more. Probably experiment with some colours, and also add a little more to the font. Nice job.
  23. I'm more into alternative rock and occasionally drop into heavy/hard metal Alternative Rock: Linkin Park And at times I shuffle among Slipknot, System of a Down and Disturbed.
  24. Hi Imran, I'm from India as well and I'm pretty much awar of where Muscat is. I've been there quite a lot of times and that's primarily because I live pretty near (in Dubai to be precise).Welcome to the forums and hope to see your around.
  25. Spooky!Probably you should spent some time and talk to this guy about this if you ever want to eat properly. Start it off with a decent conversation and build up to the idea of him wearing something on to actually keep stuff appropriate. He probably shouldn't be blamed right now, because he doesn't have an idea what he's doing wrong. I hope this works out for you well.
