1. What I really find akward, be it caused by humans or not, is that I have not had the need for wearing anything more than a sweater this winter.

The weather always seems either unusually hot and cold compared to the averages every year. For instance, a few summers ago, temperatures in Britain reached 38oC - boiling for this part of the world. However, summer this year was quite cool. The one thing that does stay the same is that hot weather gets attributed to global warming and is subject to excessive media attention; colder weather only gets a few small jokes by Jeremy Clarkson on a few episodes of Top Gear (eg "It's the coldest March for twenty years because of global warming.")

Anyway, it's good to see that thanks to the Internet a few small websites are being set-up to voice the opinion against. If you look at one of them, you find out that in the 1970s people thought that by the year 2000 the world would collapse due to the cataclysmic effects of global cooling. Here are a few quotes from the "Apocalypse Then" section of the website:

    1970

In ten years all important animal life in the sea will be extinct. Large areas of coastline will have to be evacuated because of the stench of dead fish.

    1971

The continued rapid cooling of the earth since WWII is in accord with the increase in global air pollution associated with industrialization, mechanization, urbanization and exploding population.

    1976

This cooling has already killed hundreds of thousands of people. If it continues and no strong action is taken, it will cause world famine, world chaos and world war, and this could all come about before the year 2000.

Even the head of the "The Weather Channel" in the US calls global warming "the greatest scam in history" as reported by the Telegraph and many other respected newspapers.

In 10 or 20 years' time, when, like the ecologists of the 1970s, we find out that global temperature change caused by man is all pseudo-scientific rubbish, the world will be very, very angry and things will be very interesting indeed!

  2. Thanks for the new bbcodes! About the wikipedia code, the code wouldn't be like this, would it?

    <i>lookup:<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/{content}" title="{content}">{content}</a></i>

    And for wikitionary:

    <i>lookup:<a href="http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/{content}" title="{content}">{content}</a></i>

Where {content} is what you type between the opening and closing tags.

  3. Yea, have you ever seen "INSERT SOME SPECTACULAR NAME HERE" movie? Cause movies are the truth! They never lie! 100% facts baby!

Give me a break people. Get past the hype and all this bs you see in Hollywood from both sides.

Nobody said that An Inconvenient Truth or The Great Global Warming Swindle were the truth - in fact it would be impossible for both of them to be seeing as they argue two different sides of a story. Anyway, who first informed you of global warming - the newspaper, TV, the radio?

As said before you can take a look around the solar system.

As was said before, you can't PROVE that there is a relationship, you can only make claims. That's the good thing about this theory, suddenly everybody's a scientist running around making wild claims that we're only going to sizzle in 200oF heat! If you sit down and think about it, it's all a lot of rubbishand you know why? There is no proof for global warming by CO2 because the tropospheric temperatures are rising just as quickly as those on the Earth's surface! PROOF

And besides, Ichthux is right, whats wrong with being conscientious about the environment, it's our freaking house.

And lowering our need for oil is a freaking good thing and we need to do it, we are slaves to the oil corporations, don't you see?

Granted, we need to lower oil soon but we can carry on using fossil fuels for over 250 years PROOF. Maybe we are slaves to oil companies so we should stop using fossil fuels just like the environmentalists want - then we can become slaves to them instead!

Global Warming can not be a lie. There is definitely an increase in temperatures due to rising CO2 levels

Who told you that? And did they prove it to you?

It's moreso just proof of concept that greenhouse gases can increase global temperatures. Whether due to human activity or not, that is up to you.

We know very little about the planets beyond us. Therefore, I cannot offer you any alternative causes for the extreme temperatures on Venus' atmosphere and only suggest that there is a strong chance that there is another. All I can say is that scientists have not found any proof that they theory is true on Earth, which is really what is our concern.

  4. Have you ever seen "inconvinient truth"? That movie shows that this warm period is a real problem. The warm period in the middle ages was nothing compared to what's going on now. Go take a look at that and tell this is just like the middle ages.

Have you ever seen The Great Global Warming Swindle? This hour-length documentary explained how a rise in temperature raises CO2 levels and not the other way round. As the temperature rises, the waters heat up and release the CO2 stored in them.

The reason why we're so concerned about it now is that we're helping to speed it up. Yes it's happened many times before, but were there cars back then? factories releasing tons of gas in the air? Was there electricity back then? Obviously the answer to that is no.

There are only 3 groups of people who are really concerned about global warming:

The Eco-Warrior/-Scientist - The scandal makes them more famous and keeps them in a job

The Socialist Politician - Another excuse to raise taxes? Hooray! It might hinder economic development a bit but that's none to our concern - no-one will notice that much anyway!

The Businessman - We are funding research into alternative fuels.

If any of these people had genuine environmental concerns, they would quit their high-paid jobs to set-up a charity which gives away electricity generated from renewable methods.

When people say global warming is a myth and I just point to Venus

How do you know that it's not something else that's causing the extreme temperatures?

  5. There have always been warm periods in history - the most recent being the Medieval Warm Period but the world didn't ground to a halt! And the reason why the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change say nothing? Because if they do, about 90% of them will be out of a job, which they obviously don't want. Their results are biased in favour of the theory! But don't just take my word for it. There are many thousands of qualified scientists who have organised a petition against it and you can view the scientists here:

  6. Do people care anymore? What were you up against - a transsexual from Ukraine, France and our airline song with "would you like something to s-ck on for the landing, sir?" If I wasted my money voting, Serbia's would be one of the last one I'd have voted for! The joke entries rule -- not that anyone cares :)

Ukraine's was good though - DANSEN:

  7. As a php programmer, you could make an average of Ł30,000/annum:

    http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/jobs/uk/php%20programmer.do

But, if you choose to become a general web designer/developer, you could earn up to Ł40,000/annum and sometimes even more:

    http://www.connexions-direct.com/jobs4u/ineContentID=1757

Obviously as with all jobs how much you get paid depends largely on where you live: for instance Chinese garment industry workers get paid 20p-30p/hr whereas those working in the UK/US expect a lot more!

  8. it was written by humans. See the fallacy?

It was meant to be written by humans who were just copying God's word.

Do you know when humans were first on this Earth? Not seven days after the Earth was here.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dayhttp://forums.xisto.com/ ']10. Often, days. a particular time or period

Not all days are 24hrs long.

Lots of talk of God, though who here has ever talked to him? If you say you do nowadays you're automatically labeled as crazy! Wonder why.. hmm.

Isn't prayer the communication between man and God - or talking to him?

  9. If you ask me the whole idea of racism has been blown totally out of proportion. Calling someone an imbecile wouldn't result in much but calling a Chinese person ching-chong is somehow 1,000,000 times worse. Posted Image

Both are meant to be as offensive as each other yet one's illegal, if not illicit. Why?

  10. According to the Maya, there will be a baktun ending in 2012, a significant event being the end of the 13th 400 year period, but not the end of the world

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Well, I'm not so sure about this one. I was very angry after having prepared for the world to end on the 6th June last year and finding out that nothing had happened. Although, you never know. Can you find proof that that's what the Bible says and then maybe I'll consider preparing for the end of the world again?..

  11. Now it's released, it looks quite good and it could become popular but then again, owning Tesco software isn't really something that you'd boast about. The GUI for their office suite looks a lot like Microsoft Office 2003. One thing I find odd - for an England-based company, the language they chose to display their software in was American English??

Good nonetheless. Nice to see them dip into yet another multi-billion pound market.

  12. I find it tremendously outrageous and feel embarrassed for those who are still denying the existance of global warming.

No actual evidence has been found to prove that Global Warming is caused by greenhouse gases (I assume when you say global warming that's what you mean, since no-one can deny the planet is heating up, just its cause). The evidence would come from satellites and weather balloons and they would find an increased rate of warming in the troposphere, which is where these "greenhouse gases" are. They have found none.

    sea level risings

Sea levels won't be rising if the planet is heating up. Here's a basic scientific principal - when a liquid freezes, the area it takes up increases. If you don't believe me, fill a water bottle to its maximum capacity put it in a freezer overnight. See what happens.

This is a lump of ice in an Arctic ocean:

    Posted Image

As you can see, a lot of the ice is in the ocean and not above its surface. The ice collapses and melts as part of the normal Spring cycle. The sea levels fall:

    Posted Image

This is because the area of the water in its solid form is less than that of it in its liquid form. The vast majority of the ice was in the ocean's water so the water levels fall - maybe by not as much as is shown in the diagram but that was exaggerated so you could notice is more easily.
One of the funniest things about this "idea", is what hypocrites the supporters are. I bet 90% of all the people who complain about how little people are doing via the internet are using an electricity company that sources most of its electricity from "dangerous" fuels.
13. Do you need to add a .htaccess file to every directory, or just the ones that you're changing from index, or does it change the index file for all your directories? If it did it for every directory in the directory, unless you told it otherwise, that'd be great!

Unless separate .htaccess files are in the subdirectories with this code in, this will work for the directory the file is in and all subdirectories.

Does it automatically accept index.php over index.html? I haven't checked that yet

I don't know but you can set it so the server looks for index pages in a different order:

    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html

Now the server looks for index.php to show as the default index page; if it can't find index.php, it looks for index.html, which it displays as the default index page. If neither are found, the 404 error page is shown.

  14. I believe WHM is not enabled on Xisto accounts because my understanding is it's more of a tool used by server administrators. If it is enabled, its address would be:

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Test it by entering your default username/password at the prompt screen on one of the addresses above. If it doesn't work you might be able to have it enabled for your account in Free Web Hosting Misc. Requests, stating your reason for wanting it.

  15. The owner of the website called BritishReparations.org has found that Great Britain's empire is to blame for most of the world's problems today. Guess how much they estimate the damage at? A few hundred billion quid would be a modest sum seeing as none of his proof directly links us to any of the problems, but not for him; his sum is a little less generous:

    £31,960,000,000,000

    32 TRILLION POUNDS

Surely he must have valid reason for making such a claim?

Well, no. In fact you have to search very hard to find any facts in the section marked The Facts and, those which you do find are ludicrously weak. Let's start from the beginning:

Yes. Any student of world history will tell you that if he had to pick a single nation to pin all the world's troubles on, Britain is far and away the obvious choice. There is plenty of precedent of countries paying off their victims in cash. The Nazis had to pay off the Jews. The U.S. government has settled with many Indian tribes, offering them land, lucrative casino rights, and in some cases, cash. We, the International Coalition for British Reparations, are asking that the greatest criminal nation on earththe Britishpay up as well.

NO INFORMATION there - just a long paragraph stirring up racial hatred against the Brits. Good to get the crowd against the British in the first place so the "proof" will sink in more easily.

Sure, Britain isn't behind all of the world's problemsat least not directly. The old Soviet Union, for example, is estimated to be responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of its own citizens, to say nothing of the havoc its aggressive foreign policy wreaked abroad. But most of these deaths happened by way of prison camps (a British invention) or machine guns (another British invention). All roads of human suffering, particularly in the 20th century, lead back to Britain.

Although the British did invent the machine gun, it was never actually adopted or produced. It was 150 years later that Richard Gatling, an American inventor, created the first successful machine gun. Proof:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Gatling

As for prison camps, Britain may have invented them but if she hadn't, either other countries would have or the Soviets would have simply used another method. If the USSR wanted to execute or torture people then they would have done regardless if prison camps very invented or not.

No. We don't believe this is due to any inherent defect in the character of the British people. Stretching more than a millennium to the crowning of Alfred the Great in 871, the British Monarchy is simply one of the oldest continuous governmental bodies on earth. For centuries, its power over its citizens was nearly absolute. By the dawn of the 20th century, it controlled nearly one third of the globe. But while other totalitarian reigns have been put on trial and forced to make amends, the British crown has maintained its grip on power, and so avoided being called to account for its numerous crimes against humanity.

Britain is not the only power who had an empire and remained unpunished. How did the French or Romans get punished for their empire? Why pick on us over the French or the Romans? Because they're racists.

I still need more proof that they're racists!

I'll provide it. Let's take some of the things that were "Britain's fault" and try to twist the situation so the USA is to blame:

The deaths caused by all the major wars of the 19th and early 20th century could have been prevented, or at least lessened, if the British hadn't waited until their backs were up against the wall before getting into the action.

USA + WW2 -> USA waited until Japan attacked them rather than helping out its allies. Before then, it capitalised on the Allies' desperatey.

Most of the worst tyrants in power through the end of the 20th century were put there by the British, or came to power by filling the power vacuum the British Empire left behind.

USA + Osama Bin Laden -> Osama was put into power by the USA. We put a few in power but guess who assisted us?

Doesn't that make you feel bad about the USA? That's exactly what this site is doing to the British!

But surely their Maths isn't flawed?

First Iraq War: £36 ($71) billion (As estimated by the Department of Defense. The need for U.S. intervention in the Middle East is a direct consequence of Britain's early support of the House of Saud and conflicting promises made to the Israelis and Palestinians).

Second Iraq War: £144 ($282) billion+ (As calculated by Congressional Appropriations. The irrational anger of radical Islam as embodied in Saddam Hussein's rogue state, is the expression of a deep grudge that started with the slaughter's inflicted by the British crown during the Crusades and later, Britain's ruthless treatment of the old Ottoman Empire.)

Opium War Refund: £17 ($32.6) trillion (£11 ($21) million that Britain extorted from China through the Treaty of Nanking in 1842, with interest, compounded annually. Strange that China should have to pay up after it was Britain who got millions of her citizens hooked on opium.)

Versailles Refund £13 ($25) trillion (£13 ($26) billion that Britain extorted from defeated German government after World War I, with interest, compounded annually, an unfair and punitive settlement that was one of the primary causes of World War II.)

Oh, yes it is. Strangely despite the fact that the site says that Britain is "at least not directly" behind all the problems, Britain is meant to fork out 100% of the bill. Strange. Dare I mention cocaine and the US.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocaine
And right at the bottom of the page in innocently blue and bold capital letters "GET PAID", which is linked to the petition page. Clearly all these people are interested in is the money and not equality and justice as they came. Using cheap tricks like this to win people over and putting the petition at the bottom of the page after text that is intended to anger the blood, they are falsifying the seemingly innocent reasons behind the campaign.
Participate if you will but I can't see this ending anywhere relevant; after all a small island didn't get to where it was today by being co-operative and friendly*

  16. On the 25/3/1807, the Slave Trade Act was signed which abolished all slavery in Britain and her empire, ending 245 years of slave-trading. The practice began during Elizabethan England when John Hawkins led the first slave expedition. Over time, many people were opposed to this but those who led the opposition were Evangelical Protestants, united with the Quakers in their anti-slavery views. In 1807 there were many like-minded members of Parliament and at their height, they had some 37 seats, a healthy antagonism.

The law became effective on 1/5/1807 and the USA followed quickly, making their law effective on the first day of 1808. The British navy said that any ships carrying slaves were pirate's ships so were subject to destruction and the owners of them could be executed. However, the USA didn't enforce their law as effectively.

Even 200 years onwards, people still think that Britain should make a formal public apology for the slave trade, particularly one Archbishop of York. Tony Blair has already admitted, "we are sorry" but is to further his apologies in Ghana today, on the anniversary of the law that abolished slavery. A video message from the PM will be played at Elmina Castle where slaves were stored before being shipped to the Americas.

Other events are set to take place around the ex-colonies of Britain, whom was the world leader in transporting slaves across the Atlantic to the New World.

We are sorry for enslaving people but we did that many hundreds of years ago. You can't hate us for something we did so many centuries ago. Surely you don't hate Germany for starting WWII, do you? I don't. Many of Germany's citizens would spit on the idea of a new Hitler, just as we spit on the idea of slavery. It is a big thing, I admit and I understand why people are so angry but we've done so much to try and stop it, even now people are donating money to charities whom stop slavery in Africa. We were the world leader in the slave trade but we were also the world leader in preventing it.

  17. Toufee.com allows you to create free Adobe Flash movies online. There are no ads on your movies and you can use a wide variety of features to enhance your presentations like text effects and speech-engines that read your text aloud. In fact, I still to get what the catch is.

Here's what you can do free:

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

And here is a test signature I created using the service:

    http://www.toufee.com/movies/Movie.swf?movieID=58231174496137&domainName=toufee&rand=0.565521240234375/flash.swf

It must have taken me all of ten to twenty minutes to create that once I knew what I wanted to do and how to do it. The interface is remarkably easy-to-use and fairly similar to that of a normal application. I recommend it for a little flash banner to impress your website's viewers.
