  1. I can see it might give you a bit more performance. The exhaust would be pulled out of the vehicle rather than pumped. You would have to create quite a strong vacuum before you would notice any results, but if you did I imagine you would get some extra power. It might be worth a try.ps Wow you must of had people stumped. First posted in July and I am the first reply and it is December.
  2. You need to know some things about energy. Think about it putting a dynamo in the axles of vehicles would only make you car engine work harder, using more gas, not an efficient way to produce energy. Burning your own fat for energy... interesting but painful gross and fat does not hold a terribly large amount of energy, it would be comparable to burning animal fat or vegetable oil. Dynamo in your shoes... Another interesting idea but your legs would have to work harder to produce the energy. Are you willing to turn walking into a huge workout just to get a few watts? As for a way of harvesting energy from nuclear fission, I doubt that we can create and control nuclear fission on earth so why don't we use an already existing form of nuclear fission, the sun. Have a look at my post on the antimatter form. I have a theory about a solar energy collecting station that would orbit the sun and store it's energy in the form of antimatter post 36 at http://forums.xisto.com/topic/42193-my-idea-to-keep-antimatter-in-a-matter-container-using-fans-in-all-directions-to-keep-it-in-place/page-3#entry298659
  3. Haven't you guys every bugger a guy about getting a hard on about something? I sure have. This wouldn't make you look bigger, just hornier.
  4. I have a few things to clear up for some people who have been asking questions about anti-matter. When I read "Angles and Daemons" I was interested and spend some time researching antimatter. Antimatter is in effect the very simular to matter... You have have the full range of elements with all the same properties as matter as long as they do not come in contact with matter. Most of the time when you are talking about antimatter you are talking about anti-hydrogen when is the simplest element to create, although in theory it is possible to create all of the elements. It takes a massive amount of energy to create anti-matter, so unless we could find a natural source of antimatter (not likely in this galaxy), antimatter has no use for energy production. In my mind the only possible use for antimatter would be in space. My theory (100's of years off) involves a massive space installation that orbits the sun (as close as it can be without burning up). The installation would have a field of solar collectors which would harvest the suns every and store it in the form of antimatter. Electro Magnetic fields would be used to suspend the antimatter in a vacuum (which is not hard to get in space) And the EM field would not have to be as strong as on earth because there would be no gravity. After the antimatter is produced it could be used for various energy needs although you would most likely have to keep it in space due to the fact that it is harder to contain in earths gravity and atmosphere. If you can manipulate EM field with precision, a antimatter energy reactor would not be too hard to create... Everything would have to be in a vacuum and magnetic fields would move a small amount of matter and a small amount of antimatter to the same place and allow them to react. The problem is that the EM field have to be extremely accurate because antimatter holds so much energy that allowing to much of it into the reaction chamber at once would cause an explosion that the reaction chamber could not contain. And if you can not control antimatter this well, as long as you can contain it, it would make a hell of a bomb!!!Can anyone poke holes in my theories? I was writing this past my bedtime. lol
  5. Have you been running a disk defragmenter regularly? I know some people who only run what has been automatically scheduled to run. If disk defrag is not one of these, they run their computer for a couple of months then wonder why it is starting to slow down. I am not sure how good the windows XP disk defrag is but ever since I ran windows ME I have been hooked on diskepper lite, it is easy and free and quick.
  6. I have had a couple of CD drives go downhill on me. Your problems sounds exactly like what happened to my drives. It's a long shot, but are all of the cables plugged in properly on your drive? I have never heard of it happening but there is a chance that a loose connection might cause data loss while transmitting. If your drive is dying, optical drives don't cost that much at all these days. Some times you can pick up a DVD burner for less than $60. The only thing that you might have to watch is that some older computers have a 40 wire IDE chain rather than 80 for the optical drives. I had this problem with an older computer (bought in 2001), I went to install I new DVD drive and I had to put it on my HDD chain to get it to work

    Pygame

I started working with pygame, but I quickly gave up in favor of the simpler gamemaker. I realize that gamemaker may not support they expansion that pygame would allow but gamemaker is really quite simple with a adaquate amount of power. Have you figured out what the problem with you install was? I know when I went to work with pygame I had to go back a version to python 2.3.
  8. I had the same problem on my old P3 computer. I bought a DVD-RW but it didn't work when I plugged it in. It would look ok in the BIOS and windows would recognize it but when I tried to read something I would get a series of read error and a frozen computer. The solution was to put it on the same IDE chain as my hard drive. This led to an annoying speed limitation because the two devices that were used together were on the same chain but at least the drive worked.
  9. Depending on how important this computer is to you, you should either go out and buy a new hard drive or continue using this drive until it gives out. And of course new sounds from you computer mean that you could be doing backups for sure.I really like the suggestion by mynitr of making you drive a USB drive, or another option would a to make it a slave drive that you keep things that you are not changing and have already backed up. ie: music, pictures, videos...Personally I would continue to use the drive but then my computer's files are always backed up and and am too broke to get a new drive at the slightest sound.
  10. I have had firefox 2 for a about a week now. The spell checker was a great idea. In the past if I need to have good spelling I have written things in Word, then copied them into an internet form. Not having to open a new aplication is great for me considering I am running a stone age pentium 3 with 128 mb of ram. The new location of the close buton on the tabs took a bit to get use to but now I really enjoy it. Another feature of firefox than is not new but not in IE is the find function finds as you type, saving a lot of time.
  11. Well while everyone else is at it, I'll add my boo to the Ipod... Same reasons as everyone else. Just because they were first doesn't mean that they are the best and can charge the most. I have to admit they have a nice interface but I have heard too many stories about deteriorating battery life. Or the classic Ipod behavior of deciding to never turn on again. Plus you can't deny that they are ugly!!! As for the Zen of Iriver, I haven't heard enough about them. The few people who have them seem to like them but I've only seen a couple. Right now I am using a Neuros 442. There is no denying it that this product is not particularly good. The unit is rather large with a poor interface but it does have a large (3.7 inch) screen with good battery life(5 hour video, 9 audio). It only sells in a 40 GB model but if you know almost anything you can open it and replace the HD with a standard laptop drive. Right now I am waiting for the Neuros 442v2. Neuros offers an awesome upgrade plan charging 99$ to upgrade from to a V2 when it comes out. I am surprised that no one has mentioned the Archos players. My cousin has gotten an Archos g-mini. It is a 30GB audio, picture and video player that boasts a built in camera. The camera takes pictures that are roughly the same as a decent cell phone and also works as a basic camcorder. It is a wonderful idea, people carry MP3 players a lot more often than camera. I have seen many rather funny videos captured by this little unit.
