I believe in the supernatural. I think there are a lot of different kinds of 'ghosts'. The negative energy you believe in after something terrible has happened in a location, and also spirits that haunt or protect a place after the person is gone, or have unfinished business. I also believe that humans have powers that we will be able to tap into eventually. Right now, we only use two percent of our brains. I'm not an evolutionist (I mean, I don't believe that we evolved from monkeys or the Big Bang.), but I believe that as a populace, we will all eventually grow and learn to be able to use more of it at will or need, and there lie powers such as ESP, telepathy, and maybe even telekinesis. I don't believe in most superstitions, such as walking under ladders and rabbit feet, because they are mostly the product of human fear and a need to blame bad things on something and have something that may keep them away. They may have acquired 'power' over time, but most of us don't really believe in them, so...

Anything should be put down if it's in pain and dying. I do include humans in that, if the person wants it. Otherwise, on the surface, I don't see anything wrong with it either way. There is peace in sleep and death. (I imagine it's peaceful just being an animal too.) They won't have to starve in bad shelters, waiting behind bars forever (applies to both good and bad). If aliens invaded us and turned us into their pets, I wouldn't... mind? our current shelter policies being applied to us. I might want to be 'put down' after a while. We would all like to die a painless death.

No. Google knows too much already without them spidering all of my writing and pictures and stuff. I mean, the search engine is wonderful, but they've gotten too powerful. Think on this: You enter your credit card number, address, phone number, etc on some sites. On a GOS, everything you did, including that, would likely be 'spidered' and put into their algorithim locally, if not semi-publicly. Google looks out for itself. I know there's a certain amount of trust we give sites like PayPal and Amazon and such. But even if they didn't abuse it, what about coding bugs? A while ago, you could search Google for VISA credit card numbers. I'm imagining a GOS one step removed from the internet. And if it was so closely linked to the internet, it would be easier than ever for hackers and viruses to get in. And I suppose this applies to everything too, but if I thought about trust too much, I wouldn't be able to function. I already have a deep mistrust of Google, though I do still use it for searching.

I Want To Create A Forum Site Can anyone help?
spiderink replied to hansley's topic in Websites and Web Designing
How to get the Attatchment MOD to work with EasyMOD: http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=12140 When you download a MOD, open the file and read it and follow the instructions. It's as step-by-step as you can get, but some of them are terribly long. EasyMOD spoils you. I modded my first forum by hand. If you really don't want to... try to edit the MOD file so it works. Eh... Exactly which mods are you trying to install? (Links?) If I have time, maybe I'll try to do it for you. -
The Best Content Management System In Fantastico
spiderink replied to thugnature's topic in Web Hosting Support
Personally, I use Exponent CMS (not in Fantistico) for its simplicity. You can test all but SiteFrame on http://www.opensourcecms.com/ under CMS - Portals. Mambo is definitely the most popular. -
Do You Still Yahoo? happy 10th birthday, yahoo :D
spiderink replied to serverph's topic in General Discussion
My main e-mail account is at Yahoo. (Google for searching of course) And I still use Yahoo Maps and Groups. *reminisces about the old days of Yahoo Clubs* Groups is better, but they took a while to get used to. I used to be in tons of Clubs/Groups and go into the Chatrooms a lot. -
What about that five/six year old kid a while back? He probably didn't understand death yet. I didn't know teens could get the death penalty before. Teens may kill someone in the heat of the moment, but isn't that true for everyone? In any case, the death penalty is essentially revenge. I don't know whether I agree with it or not. To receive the death penalty, the person should understand death first. If they know what it's like to lose someone and understand that death is final and terrible for loved ones, and then they commit premeditated murder, then I suppose they do truly deserve it.

Is There Anyone Run Jsp Successfully On Trap17?
spiderink replied to jordanliuhao's topic in Programming
I think someone asked about it a while ago and OpaQue said you had to specifically request JSP if you wanted to run it because it takes up a lot of resources... It was a month or so ago, I think. You might find it if you search. You should PM OpaQue and ask about it. -
I'm a great advocate of PHPBB, but really, it comes down to which interface you like best. And when modded enough, each forum is exactly like every other. I suppose out-of-the-box, IPB does have the most admin-control, but you can get most of it on PHPBB with certain mods. Also, another downside to paid forums like IPB, is without paying, you cannot easily get the latest version with all the bug/security fixes. (There is an old version of IPB in Fantastico.)

I don't really like shooters. I like Simulations (Sims) and MMORPGs (Runescape) and Puzzles. Single-player RPGs are good too, but I tend to use walkthroughs when I get stuck. And browser-based (Kingdom of Loathing), but I tend to lose interest after a few months. And recently, I've gotten into ARGs, which are... basically sort of a combo of roleplay and puzzles.

I saw it a couple nights ago, mostly because it sounded something like the Nightside series by Simon Green, and it is kind of. I made the mistake of reading the spoiler here first though. Still, good movie. Might get it when it comes out on DVD/video. Oh, and the studio has approved a sequel, which it doesn't really need, but I guess it'll work. (Money grubbers...) By the way, at the end, Gabriel's not ugly persay... no one can expect to look pretty right after getting burnt that badly. S/he'll look mostly the same when she's cleaned up.

phpBB is what I've always used. Free, easy to mod, easy to skin, nice interface, and after modding/looking at the code a bit, easy to understand what everything does so you can customize it however you like yourself. And it has just as many/more mods as IPB. *plugs http://www.phpbbhacks.com/ *

I think a better question would be, what if you were suddenly thrust into an alternate universe in which computers did not exist (on earth)? If computers did not exist here in this universe, we would not know about them, and therefore most of the questions are moot. However, if I was transported to such an alternate universe with all my present memories, I think I, and most of us, would get over it sooner or later. Either adapt to it or be condemned to an asylum, not just from going crazy, but telling people about a world in which such conveniences existed. Although, it would be possible, but unlikely, that you'd be hailed as a visionary genius in later generations. The people who really would commit suicide over losing all of our current technology are in the minority. Anyway, it would be interesting to see how such a world had turned out. By the way, the 'would you think about inventing computers' is a fair question in such a scenario. Most of us would think about it, but extremely few of us have the knowledge to do so. Building computers nowadays isn't too hard, but in that universe, there would be no pre-made hardware at all. I don't think any of us knows how to make a motherboard, hard drive, anything... from scratch, not to mention the work in coding, in binary, with absolutely no references. And the 'would you not exist' question is valid too. How did your parents meet? No computers also means the development of all types of transportation gets set back quite a bit. Perhaps without all our modifications and safeguards, they died before they met/married/had you.

Internet and Computers, I suppose. But according to my profile, General has the largest percentage of my posts. (25%/15 posts) I think Internet would have a majority, but it counts the subforums in it seperately, I think. I tend to come in through the portal and then the first thing I do is View New Posts. Then, click on the topics that seem to interest me...

I have all three main ones (AIM, YIM, MSN) and mIRC. I used to chat a LOT, but I don't much anymore. I still have YIM, AIM, and mIRC open at all times though. (The only one I talk to on MSN is my cousin.) They all have their pros and cons.
