iPods are great. They're probably the best Mp3 player out there. Anybody who says iPods suck just because everyone has them are just upset that they don't have one, or they've never actually tried using one. There's a reason they're so popular. With an 80GB harddrive, audiobooks, music, photos, videos, and podcast capabilities, and a 20 hour battery life, most other players on the market today can't beat that. And anyway, some of the other flash Mp3 players are ugly or hard to use. At least the iPod has the clickwheel which means you can easily scroll through thousands of songs or whatever else you have. And plus, with the Zune that's supposedly the "iPod Killer," you only get a 30GB harddrive. This means that if you have a lot of media files like video and music, you won't have enough storage space. My 80GB iPod is already 30GB full, so the Zune wouldn't be for me. And I'm not a big fan of the way it looks, either.

That is complete crap. Any kind of situation like that is just stupid. Your parents obviously don't realize that you're 21 now, not 14 or 15. You're a legal adult and no matter what they say, they have absolutely no control over you whatsoever. If I were you I would move away for a while just to be able to get a permit, get some practicing in, and get a liscence. But since you basically have no way of doing that, and since your parents seem to be against you driving for some reason, I would have your grandma take you out for driving lessons every couple days, without telling your parents, until you got enough hours to apply for a license. Then once you get your liscence you will never have to worry about what your parents think.

They're both original versions, not pirated, and what happened was I cracked the Disk 1 to the first copy of the game. Well then I went and got another version. The Disk 1 that came with the 2nd copy wouldn't work with the first version, so I uninstalled it and tried again with the 2nd version, and I get the same thing: The Sims 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. Nothing opens, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game many times. I even ran ccleaner to delete any other files the game left behind, and installed again; no luck. The sad thing is that the game ran on this computer before.

Hey everyone. I've gone without the Sims 2 for a while now and I just went out and spent $50 for another copy of it. Well I uninstalled my other copy since I cracked the first disk of it and I couldn't get a no-cd patch to work. Then I installed my new copy and when I put the first disk in, it starts up but after that nothing happens and the Sims 2 white screen that pops up disapears. And when I open up Task Manager, Sims2.exe just drops off the list, and when I press the Sims 2 icon on my desktop, the white screen comes up again and after that the infamous, "The Sims 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close" box. So I figured uninstalling it and installing it again would fix my problem, but sadly it didn't. I would REALLY appreciate any help here from anyone since I'd really like to play this game. Any ideas? Thanks a million.PC Specs:OS: Windows XP, SP2, Adminstrator AccountCPU:? commit charge maximum is 1996M, that's all I know.RAM:1.43GBHarddrive:145GB internal, 160GB externalVideo:DirectX 9.0 installedSound:DirectX 9.0 installed32MB videocard

How do you know that the price will be more for a Playstation 3 if you combine the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii's prices together? They haven't released the prices yet for the Wii, and even though the Xbox 360 is at $300 and $400, I bet the Wii will be at least $250, if not $300. Either way, if you combined both prices, they cost more than the Playstation 3 (20GB harddrive version.) And nobody can rip on Sony for releasing the Playstation 3 later. The Wii isn't out yet either and Microsoft screwed themselves trying to release their console first because of numerous problems with the first batch, in which case whoever released what first won't matter because the Playstation 3 will sell just as many as the Xbox 360 will.

That sounds like a good idea. But now I've seen notebook computers with programs that have the ability to jot down notes on a touchscreen LCD display using something similar that you would use for a Nintendo DS. What really sucks about iPods is that you can only have notes on there up to 4KB in size, and only 1000 of those 4KB files. Unless you have iPod Linux, then you can write, edit, delete, and store as many files at as big of sizes as you want.

I think widescreen monitors on notebooks are pretty nice looking and they perform well but I think the widescreen monitors for desktop computers are just plain ugly. They're too long in the first place, and I don't know how I'd get used to everything looking like that. Widescreen monitors have almost always been used in notebooks so those are easy to get used to, but not on desktop computers.

I was really shocked when I heard Steve Irwin died. For some reason when somebody who's famous or is well-known, it's like a huge suprise to me when they die, even though everyone has their time. I know a lot of people thought he was nuts, but he enjoyed what he did, took passion and pride in it, and died what he loved doing best, and that's what is important. But what I don't get is how everybody is saying that he went peacefully. Imagine a nail being spiked into your heart, poking a hole in it, and blood pouring out into your lungs (sorry to be gruesome!) I don't call that peacefully, that would hurt like hell. But at least he was enjoying himself before that happened. R.I.P. Crocodile Hunter!

Definitely the Playstation 2. Even the polls show it. I don't see the big hype about Xbox, or the Xbox 360; they're no better than the Playstation line and in fact, just because people have been bringing down the Playstation 3 for it's big prices, that doesn't mean it's still not more powerful than the Xbox 360. You just see the in-game graphics as the same as an Xbox 360 because so far no game maker has brought out the true performance that the Playstation 3 can handle.

Nintendo Wii Your opinion about nintendos new console?
brandon10092 replied to scab_dog's topic in Computer Gaming
Why is wireless controllers for the Wii such a huge feature? They've been out for years now, and I'm sure that some 3rd party video game accessory companies are going to produce their own line of Wii remote controls and make it not as good as the original, for a high price. That's what they always do and if you buy the original remote that Nintendo offers, you pay HUGE. -
Pbpbb2 Vs Proboards Which do you think is better?
brandon10092 replied to Ao)K-General's topic in Software
Sadly I've never heard of Proboards. I've had experiences with Phpbb2 but I can't say it was great. Mabye compaired to Proboards, but I can't comment on that. I use IPB for my forums and I think theyre pretty easy, and I'm also a moderator on the iPodHacks.com forums, which is also pretty easy to use. But I know those can be expensive softwares, and that's why there's people out there to null it and give it away. -
Xbox 360 Vs. Playstation 3 The good and bad about each
brandon10092 replied to SoCalAztec's topic in Computer Gaming
Yes but although the Xbox 360 has Xbox Live, The Playstation 3 has online gaming too. But I do agree with you that the Playstation 3 can be compaired easily to the Xbox 360 graphics-wise. Yet at the same time, the PS3 is capable of being the more powerful system in that aspect, we're just not seeing this because so far (and mabye never) we haven't seen a game bring out the true power in the PS3. -
Speeding Up Your computer with few tweeks
brandon10092 replied to heaven_master_ash's topic in Software
Although you did get some ideas through in your post, you missed some pretty big ones. Also, some of those you mentioned wouldn't even help that much, if at all. One of the most common but effective ways to speed up your computer is by defragmenting your harddrive, as you didn't mention. This will move all your files, including the ones that are out of place, into a small portion of your harddrive so it doesn't have to scan thousands of files on your harddrive in different places but instead, can scan in one place where they all are and can create less loading times on your computer. To do a Disk Defragment, go to Start-Programs (or All Programs)-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragment. Defragment your C: Drive (your main computer drive) or any other harddrive you need to such as external harddrives or even large flash drives. You can also eliminate computer start-up times by stopping all your programs from opening all at once when you log in to Windows. You can do this by going to Start-Run-msconfig. Then select the Startup tab at the top and if you see any programs you don't need starting up when your computer is booted, unselect them. Note that some programs don't match the label given. For instance I think Quicktime is labeled as qttask. Also remember that you MUST NOT unselect everything, as you are playing around with your startup files. Not only do programs start but some important Windows files do also. So 9 times out of 10 if you don't recognize the name of the label given, you shouldn't touch. Yet one way to tell is to look at the location where the files is at. Like how I said that qttask is Quicktime? You should note that the location is in your Quicktime folder so you know that it's Quicktime. One last thing you could do is running a program that checks your registries for errors, that way it can fix them and your computer and its programs will run faster than before. I ran a program like that on a computer once (not mine) and it found 185 errors and fixed them all, which boosted the speed of the computer greatly. -
I don't think anybody mentioned Def Jam: Fight For New York. That was a good game when it came out.
-
I agree with everybody above. Call of Duty 2 is a really good game for the Xbox 360. I couldn't tell you any good games for the DS because I don't own a DS or have I ever had an interest in them anyway. Handheld gaming got old a couple years ago but I think Sony is trying to bring it back with the PSP.
-
Billions of people don't have a PSP, that's a huge exaggeration. And of those mabye 30 million people with a PSP, not all of them like it. And even though that's your opinioin on Nintendo's gaming consoles, they have more experience than Sony or Microsoft, and they've been making handheld systems for about 2 decades, and regular gaming systems for even longer than that, so they know what the consumer wants and they give it to them. The only reason I don't pay much attention to Nintendo anymore is because their games' focus is on younger kids now and their consoles don't have the big names in games like the Xbox's and Playstations do.

I've seen commercials for this where I live (Indiana right outside of Chicago) and I'm not so sure how it works because they haven't explained it at all, but like all things, when they sound too good to be true, they usually are. I'm not concerned with it anyways because I have SBC Yahoo! DSL and I'm pretty fast right now at 3MB.

I'm trying to make my homepage look a little fancier and I've got a nice background image, but I want it to scroll with my page, like if you scroll down the image will still appear like it does on the top of the page. Can someone tell me how to do this? I'm using Microsoft Frontpage to edit it. I'm not sure what programming language this would be, probably CSS or Javascript, but I can edit the page script with Notepad or something to make this work. Right now the page is purely HTML, so whichever language this is, can somebody also give me the tags and markups to make the script correspond with the new language? I appreciate your help.

I agree that when they first come out that it won't be so great because Xbox will be new into the world of handheld gaming. Nintendo has been doing it for a couple decades now and when Sony brought out the PSP they did it successfully, but I'm not so sure the same will come for Microsoft. Still, I can imagine playing Halo 2 on a handheld system.

Batch .bat Files not sure which subforum this would go in
brandon10092 replied to AlternativeNick's topic in Programming
Batch files are written as simple "phrases" that your computer recognizes as commands when you save your file as .bat. For instance, open up Notepad. Then type in command.com, (without the comma) which is the phrase that tells the computer to open up command prompt. Then go to File-Save As-then save as whatever you want, and at the end, type .bat, and make sure where it says Save As Type you select All Files. Then open the file up and it will open up Command Prompt. If you do some research online you can find and memorize a simple list of commands to put in a batch file and pretty soon instead of opening up Command Prompt and trying to configure your IP address, you can simply write a batch file that opens it up and it does it for you. @echo off:AClsecho MESSENGERset /p n=User:set /p m=Message:net send %n% %m%PauseGoto A If you save that in a batch file, you've just created an instant messenger that runs through Command Prompt, and all you need is your friend's IP address. -
I don't like the idea of combining things. If you combine the iPod, camera, and cell phone (which has already been done), you get something that can do all 3, but not one of the features are as good as the real thing. For instance, the new cell phones can hold about 100 songs. Whoopdy-freakin' do. My iPod can hold 7,500, play a ton of videos, and hold tens of thousands of pictures. And the new cell phones also have cameras. They try to replace the need for a digital camera, when you can only take so many pictures on your 512MB phone, and you can't even take good-quality pictures with them. You just implement the basic idea of each and make them suck. To tell you the truth, I would rather have my iPod, digital camera, and cell phone as 3 seperate things, like I already do.
