  1. Well this isn't really a book, but just a short story we read in my english class. We were reading modern day fairy tales, and we got to little red riding hood. It starts out fine.. "She went to her grandmas house..." blah blah blah. Then when she sees the wolf disguised as her grandma this is what it says "She knew right away from the furry face and large teeth it had that it wasn't her grandma, so she took her automatic out from her basket and shot that wolf dead." It was a little.. scratch that... a lot different that I expected. Thats my book
  2. Its like putting Linux on a windows pc. Its not illegal, its just... expanding your possibilities . I don't think this is what they intended their use of an ipod for, but its definately not wrong. If something goes wrong or you don't like it, restore your ipod and you can be happy with the OK apple firmware.
  3. Haha they had a Jackie Chan Adventures show about this. Well heres another picture.. Anyhoo I personally don't think this is real, just another mexican folk tale. If goats are dying, it's probally just some other animal doing it.
  4. Yup if you go to the iPodLinux forums, you'll find threads that say the same thing. Just reformat it using the tool that apple made and they'll never know. It's like their telling you to put linux on there
  5. Ya... this works, but a word of advice from me to you. If you're at school don't try it there, you'll get suspeneded if they catch you, trust me . Anyhoo it's fun tho
  6. I like the fact that the PSP has a built in web browser. I'm guessing some people bought it strictly for that (I was about to ). But the DS has a cartridge coming out (About sometime in June I think) that the Oprea Web Browser company is making. It's a web browser for the DS, it's probally only going to support the basic web features (HTML (of course), Javascript, and they said their probally building flash into it.) The DS to me has a better choice of games, the PSP is cool because it can play DVD's but the thing is, you can't use you old ones, you have to buy special fitting ones, that don't work on anything else. One more reason the DS is sweet is because the DS Linux project is coming along great. They've already got all the basic linux ports done. And recently (well mabye not recently but about a month ago) they released the Nano-X GUI for the DS.
  7. I think your site is down. I clicked on the link (http://www.talkby.com/) and all it did was try to load for a very long time and when it finished nothing ended up coming up. Is it not working for other people besides me?
  8. On my second post on this forum, I think I got about 7 points for a post. I was like "wow" and gaining points here could never be easier (if you type in full complete sentencs, use punctuation for words, and don't use slang, it gets a whole bunch easier ). This is a pretty nice system you have going here, it keeps the member's who want hosting to keep coming back and posting more to keep this forum nice and active.
  9. Very Nice website. It might be a little bit better for the people who need support to add a few more topics defined for certain cases to your forums. Its just a suggestionn but otherwise it's looking good.
  10. Looks pretty nice for a first-time homemade template. It would be a lot easier for you to manage and edit content after/if you get PHP built in. It won't be that hard, but it looks like it will turn out nice.
  11. They've been banning people who've used these type of auto clickers. And recently this week, they just developed a whole new engine, and they've made it easier for themselves to detect people using these auto miners/clickers/whatever macro you use. Another way is to merchant items. Buy for low and sell for high. This isnt always the fastest way but it probally one of the most rewarding way to get gp.
  12. Putting linux on nano's are fun because once linux is installed on it, you have the choice of three different GUI's. (Podzilla, Floydzilla, and Podzilla2). Also Floyd2illa came out recently so you could put that on there too. Check into the "bluelauncher" (or something around that name). Its not a bootloader, but a GUI selector. Works great and MPD works on the nano too
  13. True and false at the same time. Most tutorials have you backup your firmware and it'll be on your computer. You can end up deleteing it by removing the first partition of your ipod harddrive, which is the active one that gets booted when you start your ipod. But there is no way to "brick" your ipod. All you'd have to use is the apple restore utility, or the hp restore utility. The only time people really freak out (there is a bug with installing on some nanos) is when the screen turns completely blank, nothing shows. When you plug it in your computer or to your wall ac adapter, nothing shows. All you have to do is do a 'hard reset' then put it into disk mode. You can do this by holding 'Center and Menu' for a few seconds, then as soon as you see the apple logo hold 'Center and Play' until you see the 'Disk mode' logo. Then just plug it in and restore. Installing linux on your ipod is completely safe. Just make sure all your songs are on your computer (if you use itunes dont worry) before you install, otherwise backup your songs then install.
  14. I've tried Fedora core, Ubuntu, Kubuntu (just a diffrent GUI to ubutnu), Slackware and slax. I like the KDE graphical enviroment. This comes standard with Kubuntu and slackware. Ive used Ubuntu (using the Gnome GUI, this is the one that comes with Ubuntu) on a computer with 64mb ram. Worked pretty good. Most computers have more than that now-a-days, so it wont be a problem. Most distro's are about 2-5 CD's. Ubuntu is just 1, and they'll ship it to you for free if you dont have time to download (it takes a while for these disc's to arrive, about 6 weeks for me). I installed ubuntu which comes with the Gnome GUI and I installed KDE along side that. When you boot, you have the option of choosing which one you want to load for your current session. Everything is opinion here, pick a distro that fits your needs and gets the jobs done that you want
  15. Just look around on the forums there (ipodlinux.org/forums) and you're almost guarnteed to find a tutorial there. Almost all models are working except for the shuffle (guess why ). I like it, the only bad thing MPD (the Music Player Daemon) doesn't work for a 5g video ipod, but if you have any other kind it'll work
  16. I've actaully been using gamemaker for about 2-3 years now. Its sorta different (the language you code in) but it works out great. You can do many many things with this if you try hard enough.@DeyanMarkovski: If you could explain what a RTS system is? If you do I might be able to help you.
  17. One way is by fletching. It doesnt take that long to cut a whole bunch of logs and turn them into shafts. You can get 10k shafts in about an hour if ya try. Just kill chickens after that and get their feathers. And as for the mining things above, if your level isn't really that high, just keep mining iron and make iron arrows. Its good mining/smithing/fletching experience plus the experience you get from woodcutting. Then you can sell the arrows at around 25-40. Most people buy for about 30-35. This doesn't take that long, its fun and trains 4 skills
  18. There used to be an extremely dangerous one with the old versions of phpBB where it would be like ?u=2 where the ' u ' stood for user, you could replace the number 2 with sql queries and insert and retrieve rows to and from the database. This has been fixed. Just make sure you use change characters into values. EX> would become >. Secure your forms, make sure they were submitted from your site, not typed in. Look around on google for php security. If you're worried about forum or cms software, most of the exploits have been found and identified so ya wont need to worry about them. Just check your coding if you're doing it manually
  19. I dont have any facts of the comparison rate, but it seems like most web-hosting companies use linux servers. Some people offer an option of getting hosted on a windows server but by most default its linux. Theres not that many differences between these two, it just depends on where you're looking from. Unix requires a liscense to use, and linus is GNU, which is constantly updated for the most secure features. Some other linux distro's such as trustix is very secure if that's what you're concerned about. But for your first time 'at home server' I would recomend linux because its secure, many programs are out, and its free
  20. For some people, they use gmail as FTP by using lil programs such as gspace (for windows) and gdisk (for mac's). So as for 'not using a lot of space' many people are taking advantage of this. There are even firefox plugins out there that have these features built in to it
  21. You can just download the files and upload them again. A good site is http://www.net2ftp.com/ you can download many directories, file, whatever you want into a zip then download that zip file. What you can also do is just copy files from the server that you have the files on, onto another place by entering that login information there. Its a really good site, and if you like it you can download the files and put the program on your site
  22. You don't necessarily have to setup your server on a Linux OS.Yup you can set a server up on linux, windows (using IIS or Apache), or a mac. I prefer linux because its the os with the most developed programs for it. If you're using windows theres issues with security and some 'not as good' security issues with folder restrictions. My vote goes for linux
  23. Looks good though some people dont like to use single quotes will have to slash their double quotes (EX: " will be \") which you will have to do if you use the code from my_page_article.php $articleBody ='<strong>Welcome to my page.<br>This is <a href="http://google.com; target="_blank">Google</a>!</strong>';The easisest and most user friendly way would to have the information they want as the body to be stored in a MySQL database. Then just retrieve the data and set it as $articleBody and it'd work just as great but with no hassle .
  24. Well after you get linux installed (its pretty simple, its about the only part that has GUI depending on what operating system you used, I use ubuntu 5.10) then it gets a little trickey, just follow guides and ask people (like me ) if you have any questions. But yeah once you've finished the tutorial on howtoforge you'll have a running server for you to use. The only part is that it does not tell you how to set up port forwarding on your router (if you use one). You'll have to open up the basic ports (80 for web, 21 for ftp 21&22&23 shold all be open, 25 for, 110 for pop. Thoes are the basic ones). So if you have a spare junk computer laying around your house, then I say go for it .Edit: If you needed an easy way to manage stuff, once you get everything setup search google for a program called Webmin. Its a great manager for working your server, and setting up sites and all that razzledaz. But as for getting your website to work, you just place all the files in a folder (Usually the default one is /var/www/ ) and you're set to go. The easiest way to get your files on there is through FTP
  25. The name doesnt really matter to me, just mostly as for how the games play and how fun it is. I love the whole idea of you waving your hands in the air to make things happen. The main reason im getting this is just for Twlight Princess. Anyone else seen previews of this game? Many people are complaining about the controlers, I like them, one for each hand, all wireless, all motion sensored. Its very unique and I havent seen any other system have a controller for both hands. Then its having the virtual console where you can download most games to the expandable 1/2 gig built in flash memory from all the systems, I dont think they're including the gameboy's though , that nintendo made, and also from Turbo and Sega. Plus you can use all your old gamecube games on this too, so nothing goes to waste from this. As for the DS and Wii, Oprea is making a web browser so that'll be a great function to look forward too (Even though it doesn't come built in, it'll be a seperate disc supposedly). I like the Wii, thats my stand
