Thanks to you all!i have learnt so much from this.i have seen too many statements like that universe means all that we have.but the actually meaning of universe is not that since even some of the greatest scientists have talked about other universe.

Look! I got my answer. the heated debate that the topic has generated between believers and non believers shows that how obssessive we r becoming , whether in believing or non-believing. now first of all for u, my dear friend CarlU. by evolution i meant that during the past 3000 - 4000 years and not like the dawn of the human species. out of all these posts the one person i would agree totally with is Wilson Cook. I want to quote him here, i totally agree with him. Why question anyone. if he wants to believe ,let him. if he doesn't then also let him, don't push him to believe. one thing i want to add is this. we must dissociate this kind of feeling of superiority or inferiority from religions. i started this topic because, as a matter of fact, i didn't liked the topic "Is Christianity a better religion or is it just like others". i think the person who started this and those who supported it in affirmative are still living in that colonial era when western countries occupied countries in the name of that laughable "White Man's Burden". otherwise why the hell in the world should anyone want to prove his religion as the best. i m a hindu and i can tell u a thousand things to prove that hinduism is the best. but what we r taught by our faith is that we should never compare and that every religion is equally good. But i doubt that some other religions teach the same and if they do then maybe people have twisted the facts to suit there vested interests. Otherwise why is there this conversion phenomenon all over the world which is started by one of the biggest followed religion of the world.

Having seen that topics related to religion get so much attention, i thought that it would not be a bad idea to start one to increase my popularity!!!! On a serious note, i have never been able to understand that why we are becoming more and more obssessed with religion as we are evolving. Our ancestors, who were not enlightened by modern science, believed in things like rain god , sun god and stuff like that. Thats understandable, since they have very little knowledge of the things around them and how they work. But what about today's people. I m also a follower of religion and i don't discard religion as such. But what i feel strange about is that in todays world when we r trying to show ourselves as rational biengs on one side , we are fighting with each other on the other side. In fact people using next generation technology like us often sprang up questions like "Is Christianity the best religion?". and the more important point is that the person who started this is not exception. most of us r so obssessed that we make that topic an instant hit which i think is a total waste of time. i follow a religion just because since almost 99.9% of human beings follow one so i dont want to be like standing out of the crowd. but i m not obssessed. i don't disregard or point fingers on other people's religion and don't mind much if someone says something about my religion because what i feel is that if there is god then he will take care of that person in whatever way he feels right. And if there is no god then what is the point in fighting. thats why i oppose any topic like the one above. MY APPEAL TO ALL IS THAT STOP THAT OBSSESSION WITH RELIGION INSTEAD BE OBSSESSED WITH THE WELL BIENG OF MANKIND I m not kind of trying to preach something but this is what i feel............

Wow. Thats amazing. Now i got to know the true potential of forums like ours. With the help of just 2-3 posts i got to know so much about the differences between the republican form of government and democratic form of government. especially the posts by jlhaslip & True2Earn were an eyeopener. in India we are right now under a lot of stress. due to the greed of votes the government is putting a 50% quota on all admissions in technical and other higher education(undergraduate & postgraduate) places for a certain section of society which forms almost 40-45% of the population. if they vote in block then the party which gets their support is almost definite to win. the point is that most of the people about whom the government is going to have reservation are actually deprived lot and we also support their upliftment. but the way in which the government is doing this is quite wrong. those people must be given good education at the school level so that they can compete at the higher level. But instead of doing that, which is definitely the way in which gov. will have to work hard, the gov. is going the easier, profitable(only for the gov.!!!) and the wrong way. in this way the gov. will just destroy the country and nothing else because bright and studious people will not be able to come up. also it will be disastrous for those who get reservations because when they will not be knowing any basics they will definitely falter at the higher level and this will hurt their morale and self-confidence. so now i feel that if we would have got a republican kind of gov. then it would have been better. by the way as soon as i will collect 30 points i will start a site for the same cause by the name youthforequality.coz.in. log on to it after some time to know more about this. right now if u want more information you can log on here youthforequality.blogspot.com

i totally support u tetraca.wat i think that on contentious issues on which there are less than 75-80% support from the elected representatives there must be a public voting .but it will be very costly and i think impracticle.

When Mr. George Bush was elected for the first term, he won by a very thin majority, which had to be decided through court. That means that almost 50% of american population was not in his favor. [though he is one of my favorite president]. In my country India where there is a multiparty system, where hundreds of parties fight in the general election and then form a coalition government and which has been called true democracy by many world leaders, there is a great irony. The country which is the largest democracy and also given the stamp of true democracy by the world is run by a party which got approximately 25% of the total votes. To add to this, many of the parties with which it is forming a coalition government are those against whom they have fought tooth and nail during elections and called them corrupt and so many other things. And still, while in coalition at centre, whenever there are state elections they fight against each other. So in both cases we have seen that a party which does not have support of more than 50% of the population is running the country. Apart from that there are so many ambiguities in the system. So how can democracy be the true solution. Though I m totally against authoratarian rule and i believe that at present democracy is the best bet. But the question is, can we devise a better mechanism. I think something of the sort that is used in UN security council and other places like NSG group can be a solution though it will be very difficult to apply. There every person is important and no decision can be passed without approval of all. What do u guys think?????

No, actually for me this is totally absurd.not becauase i don't believe in religion. i m a true believer in god and i m a hindu.but wat i believe in is that all religions are equal and god is one. its just the difference in the ways we see them and pray. so there is no point in hving questions like which religion is better - christianity or hinduism or any other. the point is we are seeing the results of religious extremism throughout the world- whether in iraq or afghanistan or pakistan etc. so wat i want to see is more and more people believe in the concept of oneness of god so that the world can unite. and if god is one then where does the question arise that which one is better.hope u get tyhe point.bye.

The robots that will be made in the future and that can be useful to us some day will be programmed in such a way that from the programming they can logically find a way to perform a task that is not given explicitly in the program.simple machines that follow the program written are a reality even today and then if these machines are called robots , then i will have to say that my dear friend the medium through which we are interfacing ,that is the computer will be called a robot.this is the basic difference between a robot and today's computerised machines that a robot will not obey certain explicitly given orders but will be able to deduce logically from the program that what should be done to finish a given task.

I m a hindu and i love my religion. the points because of which i love hinduism is because it is one of the most easy going religions. it isn't written anywhere that if you dont believe in hinduism then you will nit get heaven and all those kind of things. in fact if you dont want to pray for months or years then also its ok. what hinduism teaches is that you must love your fellow beings whether they are hindu or of any religion and also that all people are equal for god whether of any religion. i think that is one of the reasons why there are so few people who are in the work of converting people to hinduism because hinduism doesnt teaches one to bias people on the basis of religion. i think thats why you will never find any person starting a topic like this, Is hinduism the best religion, like one of the person on this forum did. he started the topic that is christianity the best religion. we will not start these kind of topics because hinduism teaches us to believe in the equality of god. Actually that depends from person to person.it i s human nature not to see things in the same manner. Einstien is amazing for me and not you. maybe the person who is amazing for you is not for me. But nobody can deny that when we talk of the greatest scientists the top two slots are filled by Sir Newton and Sir Einstien

The idea here is that at that level of programming its not that someone will program it for evil and then it will be harmful.The point is that first we must understand the basic concept of robots. a robot is programmed in such a way that it has some kind of a , you may call, virtual brain. a robot that just goes on according to programming will not remain a robot but will be a toy.For eg. suppose that you ask a robot to through a apple to a dustbin. then it is not written in the program specifically that what he must do . he has to apply his virtual mind to decide what he has to do. If the robot will not have that features then it will be useless. machines also do programmed work but they are not called robots because of this inherent difference of , virtual mind.now the point is that upto what limits this virtual mind can go is hard to calculate even for the programmer.I m not saying that it is not possible to build safe robots, but what i m saying is there is a high risk probability involved.

No, thats not true.Time has been proved to be a dimension beyond doubt. Infact what scientists are right not working on is to bend this time axis in ways which are beyond the level of most of us here, atleast mine.But i know this much that like gravitation bends the space time curve in the same way they are trying to bend the space time , and if they are able to bend it 180 degrees then maybe in future the concept of travelling faster than light will not remain upto the sci - fi flicks only.

Though right now only industrial robots are used except a very nominal percentage of population who have robotic pets etc. , it will take just about 20 or so odd years before they will become part of our daily lives. The one thing that comes to the mind as soon as hearing the word robot is that , how safe will they be. Thanx to the sci-fi flicks of hollywood most of us have created a negative image about robots. I m a very great fan of science and i dont like it when people speak in negative sense about science. But in this field i have a different opinion. As i m also doing computer engineering therefore i know that how often bugs in small codes can make them function in a dangerous manner. Therefore to make the enormous coding required in making an intelligent robot foolproof is i think next to impossible. Also the other thing that can be dangerous to humans is the greed of humans themselves. In these competing world, it will not take much time before a company in its race to become the best, crosses the danger line, whether unknowingly or knowingly. This seems like a topic which does not need any attention right now but i think this topic needs to be discussed right now before the companies and the stakes related to this become so high that the governments of the world will not be able to handle.

Actually, I know that pal. I know that Einstien was never knighted. No my dear friend its not just all thoery.It has been proved by many mathematical models even by those scientists who have not been able to take down there own mathematical finding.Actually the only problem that we have in proving is our capacity, or better word will be incapacity, to build those kind of machines.

I totally believe that pyramids are some kind of supernatural kind of thing.Simple mathematics will tell you that its not possible. and if the people of that time were so intelligent then they would have left a written record.from dating techniques we know that pyramids are not so old and since they were built there had not been anything like complete wipe out of civilisation, even not of that of the egyptians.

I think this is a totally absurd topic and these kind of topics should not be started or better should not be allowed. This is to all my dear friends who who have doubted the possibility of another universe, or time travel or wormholes. Actually i m just an average guy like most of us and doing computer engineering. So i have not studied over these kind of theoritical concepts. so whatever i have written is not some kind of my own theory. Our universe is so big and we haven't explored even a millionth of a millionth of .......... part of it. We have not gone anywhere outside our own solar system. Yet some scientists, in which there is greatest among the greats Sir Einstien also, believe that there is more than one universe in which we can go by passing through a worm hole. It is quite an intriguing topic and once you start studying about it you go more and more deep into it.The logic behind this is, "though there are mathematical models also but i m talking here in our day to day general language", that every particle has its antiparticle and extending that logicto universe scientists conclude that there must be an antiuniverse to every universe. Some even suggest that to every universe there must be a universe in which similar kind of things must be happening but the direction of time must be reverse, that is my anti- in the universe which will be corresponding to our universe will be born old and die as a child. Also about time travel it is written that if we travel around the event horizon of a blackhole we will reach back in time but not in this universe but our corresponding universe. Actually i know how to create an independent database and how to update it manually.But i just want to know that how can i make that update thing automatically. Like suppose if i give somekind of username and password to members of my site and i wish to have them updated , like addition , deletion or changes in password, to be automatic how can i do that.i have a rough idea that it can be done with the help of Java and jdbc but i don't know exactly. I m good at programming languages C and Java.

There were two points that were given in replies to the topic. One is that why don't they contact us now. Maybe they dont want to face us directly due to any of thousands of reasons. Maybe they are much more intelligent than us and therefore they had calculated the response to such an instance of showing themselves which could have been disastrous. It is a very real possibility that if some day some alien shows up then it will lead to utter chaos and anything can happen in that. Secondly, as one of our friend , Mr. Munde , pointed out which i m giving below ( I hope he doesn't mind and quoting like this is not wrong according to the rules of site. I m new to this and if this is wrong then someone plz tell me so that i don't do that again) My dear friend the main reason why i got excited towards this is that whatever is written in our ancient texts is not all absurd things like u pointed. There r some places where u will find these kind of things. But as i have given in my main post in quotes , there r things in these texts which i find hard to imagine that someone even imagined that. Some of these things are the same as we came to know after Sir Einstein's General Theory Of Relativity. And about the pyramids, even in one of the programs on discovery most of the scientists were not able to explain the making of these pyramids which is even today next to impossible with all these big machines by our side.

What i feel is, to make this possible one way to go is to find some way to convert the energy of electrons travelling in the wire due to current to photons, reverse photocurrent. Then we can send those photons easily with help of fibre optics from one place to another and through satellite from centre to nearby points and we already know how to convert them back to electrons. But the problem i see is in coding. How will we be able to code and uncode the photons to make them reach their destination. Well I think u can try out over these lines if u are pretty interested.
