hi friends, this is quiet an interesting topic...this topic is there on the forum for quiet some time now but i got to see it today only......the number of new ideas, concepts and theories generated by this topic is amazing........sometimes i too feel that maybe we are enacting some pre-written scripts and some one else is, in any way, trying to make us do something....when i am alone and i have nothing to do, at that time i think sometimes i really think deep about it...its like i start from surface and slowly and slowly my imagination takes me up and up and up in the sky and to a point from where i can see the whole earth and see almost ant like humans busy with their daily works...then sometimes i feel that we are like machanically doing something with no specific goal or something like that...i don't know...actually i can't explain myself...but at that point of time i feel that we fight for small pieces of land or other petty issues...we steal, we rob and we do all kind of bad things.... but for what...when all of us know that when we die we will not be taking away anything with us...at that point i feel that maybe we are in a game or something like matrix and we are doing all this stuff to make the game exciting...i don't know...but when i start dwelling deep in this topic i feel too lonely and lost...by the way i am sorry to change the mood of the topic a little bit...but it's my thoughts...once i would like to say that the topic is too good and we can get quiet a few important answers if we dwell upon the question seriously..ok bye....keep writing..

hi friends, thank you for your replies...i am amazed that i have got two replies on such a topic and about 60 or so views...i was thinking that this topic of mine will be a dud...by the way, i feel that although none of us have been able to express our feelings in a clear manner, because of the fact that this is such an intriguing and quiet confusing topic but i feel and can almost deduct, through posts and votes that, almost all of us feel the same way about great people, that these days most of them are just great manipulators and nothing else....well its nice to hear you people's thoughts....so keep writing ....bye to all...

hi friends, sometimes while i am free and sitting alone my mind starts wandering in different directions...most of the time it wanders in the amazing world of theoretical physics and technology, as you people must have noticed from my posts, but some times when my mind ventures out in the real world one question that intrigues me a lot is that whether the so called Great people were or are Really Great or just Great Manipulators...I can collect about my thinking on this topic well only when i am deep down my thinking process...but to start off with this topic i will try to recollect some of my thoughts...I m from India and in the Indian freedom struggle many brave people laid down their lives...but the matter of fact is that when it comes to honouring people for their sacrifice the names that come up are of those people who just sat and took decisions according to what their occupiers wished and yet showed to the general public that they work for them...some people who know about history of India might disagree, because of their different thoughts, about my last statement...but still the people who have made the supreme sacrifice must be given a higher place than the others...so what i feel is that the people who died were Really Great but the people who are honoured and are so called Great were Great Manipulators...Same is the case, i feel, in different parts of world...same is the story in sports...like i am a great cricket lover...what i feel is that some of the players considered best, are just great manipulators in the sense that they just play for themselves and not the team and yet portray themselves as if they are always thinking of the team...on the other hand some players who always think of the team cannot portray themselves correctly in front of general public and hence lose out in the race...actually i don't know whether i am making any sense or not...whether i am able to express myself clearly or not...but i wanted to write this because sometimes when i start thinking about this i feel very, i don't know exactly, but maybe frustrated or bound or handicapped that i cannot do anything to get some people, whom i respect very much, a deserving place...hope anyone reading this would not have got tooooo bored.... ....but do tell me if i was boring on this topic...your criticism will be happily accepted...and if you like this topic then please do write about your thoughts so that i can know what others think on this...ok bye...keep writing...

hi friends,as most of you have said, i also agree with you that robots can be dangerous only if we do not handle them well, otherwise they will only be helpful...as i was taking in one of my other posts, the dangerous way of handling them can be like if we bring in a lot of red tapism in matters related to robots...for example if we give some type of rights to robots then if a robot malfunctions or is found to be dangerous to humans in any other way, still then you would not be allowed to dismantle them, since they will have rights therefore they can go to some court and get a stay order or a decision in their way...so the point is that how we handle them rather than that how they or their programming behaves...keep writing...bye..

hi friends, nice to hear from you all...my aspersions about robot rights were reflected by almost everyone and very clearly by richierich1m.i, like him, also feel that if we give rights to robots then maybe they will start asking for more and more and a time will come when they will become so much demanding that they can start denmanding for their own "homeland" and all idiotic stuff like that... though sometimes this topic seems useless and too far fetched, but the point is that it might be possible that sometime in the future some of us, people who are reading and replying to this topic, might be involved in the process of lawmaking in one way or the other... at that time what we must remember is that robots are built for our comfort as an accesory, like music system, telephone etc... just because we will be able to make them more and more like humans in the future will not change the fact that they are machines and not humans...so we must never make the mistake of doing something which will make them a threat to us...and i think giving them rights will be some that sort of thing...i am myself a computer engineer and as a matter of fact i am planning to go to study robotics in my masters degree...because i feel that it is so exciting...and i would like to build more and more human like robots... but the point is we must know how to handle them properly...that is my only concern..signing off...keep writing..bye all.

How To Take Over The World How I would do it
amit nigam replied to glenstein's topic in Science and Technology
hi friends, after reading the last two posts i am convinced even more that it is almost impossible to have control over the world through these means...actually one of the biggest hurdle is i think the fact that a bird likes free skies more than a gold cage....what i mean by that is that even if our leader provides the people of democratic republic of Congo all kind of facilities and money, still they would never like to be ruled by a foreigner. it is basic human nature and i think it is the major instrument in keeping the integrity of different nations...also suppose if we can somehow get control of the whole world then it will be much more difficult to sustain that....setting up governance techniques which will not allow corruption, high-handedness etc. is very tough.anyways...it is quite an interesting topic....ok bye...keep on writing.... -
hello friends, its nice to hear from you people and see the varying views of all you people, from the firm yes to the firm no.actually as some of you have pointed that it is not important right now but one day when robots start to think and feel exactly like humans then it will be required. My point is that no matter how equal in their thinking and working robots become to humans but still we need to remeber that they are machines created by us. it should never happen that we start giving them rights and slowly and slowly because of them they get out of control. you know these kind of things happen. you give some rights to someone and slowly and slowly they start crying for more and more and more.but still these are my views....lets see what others think...ok bye...keep writing...

hi friends, actually this might seem quiet far fetched but it has come to my mind after reading an article in a very prominent science magazine.i was going through the magazine and i saw that their was this article in which a scientist of United kingdom has suggested that within 20 years their will be something of the sort of "Robot Rights" on the format of human rights and animal rights.i just was thinking since then that how much will it be right doing that...i mean i do not know... i m a strong supporter of developing artificial intelligence, though i am one of the biggest critics also...but the point is that no matter how much advanced robots become in future and start showing human like emotions apart from other things, but still in the end we humans must know that in the end they are just chunks of metal...any kind of emotional attachment with them is i think can be dangerous...and i think talk of robot rights can emerge out of someone's heart who has a certain sort of emotional attachment to them....the point is we cannot penalise some one, some human being, after a certain extent for doing a harm to a robot...my example will make it more clear...suppose i am going through a market and i have a fight with a robot over some issue and suppose by some way, though it is highly impossible, i destroy that robot beyond repair...then what should happen to me...if their are robot roghts then most probably i will be charged with murder and treated accordingly...but i think most of us will agree that what would just have got "killed" is a so called metal piece with no soul and which can be built again...so i think the maximum I, the person who "killed" robot, must be charged with is destruction of someone else's property...i think giving robots some kind of rights and hence some sort of legal protection will be highly irresponsible...what do you guys think...do write..ok bye...

Can There Be More Than One Universe?

hi friends, nice to hear from all of you...i was going through the post of laos and i found that he has , i think, told quiet great things in a sort of nutshell....as far as i knew about string theory i knew that it was just a theory in which we assume that the basic building blocks of nature like electrons are not particles but just closed loop string like structures vibrating in different forms or different modes to give different type of basic building blocks.but it was quiet great to know so much more from laos about this....i would request laos or someone else that maybe if they can clarify on this a bit more or a lot more ...i just love this topic and want to know about this as much as possible...ok bye...keep writing.. -
How To Take Over The World How I would do it
amit nigam replied to glenstein's topic in Science and Technology
hi friends,as one of our friends pointed out that in the United States of America people do not tend to give businessmen votes and they would not like to make Bill Gates a president, because they think they will give too much power in the hands of one person. I would just like to add my point here. i do not know, maybe i can be right or maybe wrong.till now i think that not anyone of those so called business tycoons have tried, seriously to become a president. maybe for them it is not as lucrative as making millions daily.now, i know that the status of the people of United Statas of America is way to better than our Democratic Republic of Congo counterparts but still there are always something that people crave for and think that their government is not providing them with that. now if someone like bill gates suppose spends his wealth in United States of America as generously as our so called "Leader" does in Democratic Republic of Congo then i think it can change the tide in his favor. i think people will support him thinking that if he becomes a president then he will increase their living standard manyfolds since he is doing so much when he is not even a president. correct me if i am wrong, but that is what i think should happen according to me.and by the way glenstein when are you "releasing" out your next part, i m waiting for it. ok bye friends...keep writing. -

hi glenstein and all other friends, atctually glenstein i was talking about the leader there....since our leader has so much money, that is why i was saying that why will he leave his great life in United States of America and go to live a very uncertain and dangerous life in Democratic Republic of Congo... better would be to use his money to garner support and power in United States of America and become the president of United States of America...that is i think today as good as conquering the world...what do you think???bye...keep thinking...and ofcourse writing... -

Aliens Or Ancestors Or Some Kind Of God
amit nigam replied to amit nigam's topic in Science and Technology
hi friends..i think that as cerebral stassis and many of you have pointed out that there were different ways to build pyramids... i just want to know that even today the best of the best engineers and architects agree to the fact that it is next to impossible to build pyramids with todays technology.... that civilization, egyptian, was not wiped out by some comet strike or something like that, so the knowledge they had assimilated must have come down through the ages... so why is that we dont know their technology...as far as the concept of gigantic kites to take stones to the top is concerned..... i think just close your eyes and give it a shot ... do you think that it can be done... can you lift stones worth thousand of tonnes with wind energy... i cant believe it..by the way... nice hearing from all of you...keep writing..ok...bye.. -
hi friends...nice thoughts...the discussion has moved from one end of the spectrum to another...i think no one has still understood very well what me and korin are saying...first of all we are saying that we are talking about what can happen in the future...not right now...secondly....we are not talking about whether it can be done ...not that whether it is right or wrong...it would be nice if in this topic we discuss about the theoretical possibilities and difficulties that we can have with such a model...don't you think that it would be nice that if someone is left alone at some place with just one thing...some sort of "atom changer"...then he can have all the things of his necessity without anyone else's interference...i know its too futuristic...but why not... because of these kind of thoughts of people in the nineteenth century we were able to go to moon in nineteen sixty...in some way these people had helped..i think all of you will agree...ok ....bye...keep writing..

hi friends...first of all i would also like to congratulate trap 17 team for this new look though i lost some of my posts and almost 15 credits in the process...but still you people have done a wonderful job...i m myself a computer engineer and i know that these glitches happen...now coming on the post, since i m an Indian i think i can give an impartial view, i think that neil armstrong definitely landed on moon... the reason being that this thing happened at the peak of cold war...suppose you and me as lame people were not able to understand that NASA did a fraud...but what about russians...what about KGB...dont you think that even if there was the slightest hint of a fraud that russian spies would have smelled then they would not have publicised that to humiliate United states of America.. rivals like them dont leave each other over issues if they have even a slight doubt....its like that suppose today google is doing something wrong and suppose yahoo gets a leak that maybe google is doing this wrong then do you think that yahoo will sit quietly...it will immediately have an offensive against goole...so if there was slightest doubt in the minds of russian spies then they would definitely have gone on a publicity offensive against United States of America.ok bye...keep writing...

hi friends...what is written in the last post is absolutely right... i do believe that the way we are going and seeing the nature of human beings, we first encourage something and before seeing that it is a threat to ourselves it is too late, this is surely on the cards..ok bye...keep writing..

Can There Be More Than One Universe?
amit nigam replied to amit nigam's topic in Science and Technology
ok..actually i am of the opposite type...i believe that their is no reason why out of billions of billions of billions of stars having billions of billions of billions of planets only earth will have intelligent life...actually in maths i love probability and my probability tells me that its almost next to impossible...also as one of our friend was saying something about blackholes...actually there is a boundary around blackhole called event horizon which separates the inside world of the blackhole from outside world...actually according to theory if something crosses that boundary then no matter how fast it moves, maybe with speed of light, it cannot come out of the blackhole...that is it is succked up by tyhe blackhole...if some one moves exactly on this orbit, event horizon, then according to theory he can travel back in time...and i dont think that there has been anything in theory said about what happens inside black hole...ok bye...keep writing... -
How To Take Over The World How I would do it
amit nigam replied to glenstein's topic in Science and Technology
hi glenstein, nice post...it was fun to read your post...i m still amazed at the fact that how much of your brain and time you have devoted to this thing...which, most probably, you are not going to do ...by the way i feel that there are many loopholes in your story...sorry to say...though i liked your story very much...but i think it can work better as a fiction novel...the problems i point out here are related to both human psychology and the general ones...i have read so many posts in your topic therefore i dont remember correctly the first one...but i think first problem lies with the starting...i don't know how many people after earning so much that they can , according to you, almost support an entire country, will go out from United States of America and live in Democratic Republic of Congo. i mean give it a thought...you are living a great life in one of the world's best and safest countries with billions around you(dollars)....and then suddenly one day you will say to yourself and your family members that come on we are going to Democratic Republic of Congo...where right now you don't know that when some mercenaries will shoot you...where you don't have any facilities provided by government...ok you can have most of the facilities through your money...but still not all...then having people give up weapons for some charity is easier said than done...the problem is when people are illiterate they don't have a sense of their own...i live in India and i know why idiotic political parties like congress, dmk, rld etc just dangle out the carrot of reservation policy and not do anything to actually educate and elevate people...because as long as they know that their voters are illiterate they can just turn them in any direction ....because illiterates dont think from their mind but from the minds of their so called 'leaders'....my point is that when our 'leader' starts giving charity those people will oppose who are the already present leaders of Democratic Republic of Congo...because they know that although their country is very poor..under huge debt, people are dying all over...but still they can have much more power and money if they are the leader than accepting your charity and have you become the leader...and if they are not satisfied then they will just tell the story to those illiterates in such a way that, although they will benefit from our 'leader', they will start believing that whatever our leader is doing for them is wrong...i will give you a real life example...in india right now governments of different states are setting up SEZ's(special economic zones) for the setting up of industries etc...so what happens is that they have to get some agricultural land cleared up and then give it to the industrialists to build up...after which the people displaced get huge benefits in terms that they get jobs, their area gets advanced, their living standard therefore rises...but at most places, as presently is happening in Singur, people of the region oppose this...why??? ...because if there is a conflict of interest with local politicians on any issue, which almost always happens since these idiot politicians have no work but to stall ongoing work at any palce, then they just tell the public, which is mostly illiterate, that its not good for you and all that blah..blah...blah...and they trust them ...thats why i was saying that its not that easy to give charity and get people give up their arms...or habits...then when the leader prints out books then before that he must ensure that most of the people are literate enough that they can read...i dont know about Democratic Republic of Congo, but i know that their are far too many people in India who cannot read...and i think India is considered way better than Democratic Republic of Congo....and this , educating people, i can tell you surely will take a very long time....and i dont know whether our leader has that much patience or not... but still i would like to say that i liked your post very much and i very very much appreciate your thoughtful mind...i think one day you can, if not the "Leader", definitely become a great novelist or scriptwriter or something like that...but i will add to your story in next post...though it is flawed but it is still too good to be left..and i urge all others also to keep writing...ok...bye...may our "Leader" succeed in his good deeds.. -
hi friends... as i hav seen in ur posts most of you are believing that myself or korin has suggested that this is possible right now....no..we are not saying that...we are just saying that it is theoretically possible and maybe in some time in future it can be done......"sometime in future"..... as far as my friend delvi's statement is concerned which i m quoting... maybe he is right by saying that we have not found a proper cure for common cold...but isn't it also true that we have right now the technology to clone humans( i don't want to discuss the ethical part...but we have the technology) ....also we have gone to moon quite a few times and our satellites are reaching the outer areas of solar system...isn't it true....i m an optimist...and i urge other people around me to be optimistic too....don't be pessimist.....we are doing research on tele-transportation....theoretical research on travelling back in time....then anything is possible...remeber just 100 years back people would have laughed at any person talking about going to moon... keep writing...may the future holds so much for all of us that we have nice surprises all through our lives...i would definitely love to see humans settle on moon in my lifetime....

nice thought....but if you must have seen terminator 2 maybe you would have got your answer...the bad robot does almost the same thing as you are saying...actually the thing you are saying is being researched right now....as far as i know...under the field of nanotechnology...they are working on the concept where you can break down any material upto the atomic level and then can reconfigure it into anything....actually the thing that is shown in terminator 2 is theoretically possible....i feel...we have to build nanorobots...robots of the size of atoms...then whenever a robots eyes see someone he can make some sort of bitmap of that person and store that in central processing unit....then the central processing unit can arrange nanorobots to form the desired shape....as children arrange blocks...i know its not as simple as it looks while talking ....but the point is that i think its theoritically possible....what about others???

When Lights Collide. what will happen?
amit nigam replied to quakesand's topic in Science and Technology
first of all i would like to say that the question is very complex or vague....or...i donno...but as far as i can understand it.....when we pass two light beams from opposite directions i think that we must get some kind of interference pattern...since light will behave as a wave in that case ( though i myself am not able to have a logical reason that why light will not behave as particle...if someone can help). therefore their must be bright and dark fringes...but since white (normal) light contains light of different wavelengths...therefore i think that it will get blurred and we will not be able to see a pattern and we will feel as if nothing has happened.....but still i would say that it is a very complicated topic...and i m myself not sure why light will not behave as particle....maybe its the anomaly with the light itself....keep thinking -
hi,thank u for all your replies...i personally do think that robots can definitely be a threat to us if not handled properly....like some time back i was going through an editorial in which it was given that some people hav proposed that after about 20 years there will be some sort of robot rights.....these kind of things are pretty dangerous....since because of these you lose the edge to fight any kind of mishappenings.....like right now human rights people create a lot of hurdles when governments try to quickly punish terrorists who are not of the level that they be called humans....therefore i think that there must never be any sort of robot rights....Bye....keep writing.....and have fun...

Can There Be More Than One Universe?
amit nigam replied to amit nigam's topic in Science and Technology
ya. i totally agree with u that there is definitely other universes out there. just , its a matter of time that when we are able to develop our technology to a level when we can have communication with them. or they develop so much that they communicate with us. -
Can There Be More Than One Universe?
amit nigam replied to amit nigam's topic in Science and Technology
actually its not as some people hav put it....tht universe consists of everything....actually universe, as we know it, consists of everything that is in this universe.....it has been proved that their are wormholes thru which one can go from one universe to another...and as far as i know this is not a concept of some fiction writer but the result of work done by or done over some theories of great scientists like Albert Einstein and others.. -
Aliens Or Ancestors Or Some Kind Of God
amit nigam replied to amit nigam's topic in Science and Technology
dont be sad. i totally believe tht there must be someone else also. not because i am a scientist or some sort of visionary but because i know a little bit of probability and after stacking all the odds in favor and oppose on two sides i think the numbers surely point in one direction. the point is how can one imagine tht out of 10 raised to the power 24 stars (i.e. 1 followed by 24 zeros) life exists only on one. it would be quite absurd.also thousands of stories on area 51 and some other things , i believe, cannot be built on lies or just pure speculation.wat do u say??
