  1. Ok I will do that... for now I only entered ns1.astahost.com and it seems to work fine, however how do I set it up in cPanel so that the site actually goes to (username).co.cc instead of redirecting it to portal.trap17.com ? I want both to be accessible without redirection, such as portal.trap17.com/sandbox AND (username).co.cc/sandbox should be two separate URIs pointing to the same location, instead of pointing to each other.
  2. I recently signed up for a .co.cc domain, as it's an actual DNS domain and not a redirection service. It looks great but I am having an issue with setting it up, as this warning comes up: Further looking into the "Spamhaus Block List", I am pointed to this page: http://www.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=208.87.241.124 Now I'm wondering if there's something that Xisto can do about this? Because I also have the option of setting up the .co.cc domain as a redirect, however I would much prefer it to be the actual domain. Also on a second note, will I be able to use both the .co.cc domain as well as my Xisto subdomain, or will I only be able to use one?
  3. This might be an obvious thing that I'm overlooking, but how in the world do I "permanently" save messages on my BlackBerry device so that they are not deleted?I know I can select the message, click the BlackBerry button, and click Save Message, but this gets tedious if I want to save a hundred messages or so. Also, when I do this, it says "Marking item(s) as saved", so I think I need to figure out how to select more than one item. I am also aware that the IPD file contains all the text messages on my phone when backing up, however the messages are in some random order that is somewhat chronological, not exactly easy to work with.Does anyone know how I can select multiple texts to save?
  4. It looks like Bloobs has released a newer version now, version 3.5 that supports Windows XP and beyond. There's also versions for mobile devices (iPod/iPhone and BlackBerry). Although I haven't played this game in a very long time (it's been over 5 years now), I would still recommend people to check out this game if they are looking for something fun and (somewhat) addictive.
  5. What you are looking for is a reverse dictionary. I have used these a while ago and they seem pretty reliable, the first one I used more than the latter: http://www.onelook.com/reverse-dictionary.shtml http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Now that I think of it, more often than not I am looking for words to describe what I am thinking of
  6. I have used Comodo Firewall/Comodo Internet Security for quite a while now after reading amazing reviews and recommendations from CNET over a long period of time. I must say that the firewall is certainly impressive, and Defense+ is very good as well. Their antivirus software can be a bit slow though, so now I only keep the Firewall instead of the whole CIS package. There is one thing I don't like about them and that is the default option is to change your computer's DNS settings to their DNS servers. Although most users wouldn't know what DNS is, it could cause problems with their ISP or something. Currently I use OpenDNS, which is probably just as safe as their "safer" DNS system.
  7. You can use @font-face with WOFF files to ensure browser compatibility. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Open_Font_Format Of course browser compatibility here means IE9+, Chrome, Firefox 3.6+ and Opera 11.10+. So no IE8 or anything less recent, but it's quite new and at least Microsoft backs it

    Libreoffice

I suppose I'll have to start using the LibreOffice version of the OpenOffice.org tools I use today soon... I still have Microsoft Office for Word/Excel/PowerPoint, but I do use OpenOffice.org for Base (Access equivalent), though it's quite rare. One thing I did notice though is that LibreOffice messed up my file type associations for the "supported" file types in Windows. I thought this was a coincidence at first but when I installed it on a fresh copy of Windows and couldn't open ODT or DOC files then I realized it wasn't a coincidence. Not sure how it happened though.
  9. I also liked Thunderbird (both non-portable and portable versions) years ago, but since then I have found no need for a software client for emails. I suppose it is useful for people who have inconsistent Internet connections that need to read their emails offline, but soon there will be better offline GMail. For managing multiple accounts yes I agree Thunderbird is the way to go. However, if you have a choice to create multiple accounts of the same provider, I'd recommend Windows Live Hotmail to do this because linking and switching accounts within the web-based interface is quite easy. Google also has "delegated" accounts but it just isn't quite the same.
  10. Is this myCENTs frozen thing going to last long? My "plan" expires in a few weeks and I really need to step it up and possibly this will be the last year I can get by without paying actual money.
  11. Are download managers even that big of a deal? I used to use one a long time ago called GetRight, and before then I was introduced to them by RealDownload (bundled with RealPlayer from RealNetworks). Internet Explorer didn't have a download manager back then, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Firefox's download manager does the job, same with the one in IE9, Chrome and Opera. As for assisting me with downloading multiple items (bunch of links, etc), I do use the DownThemAll extension for Firefox from time to time, but I haven't used it in a few months now.
  12. Both of these are hoaxes. The first one, is classified as "a mixture of true and false information", and is posted on Snopes as such: http://www.snopes.com/fraud/telephone/jailcall.asp The second one has been going around since I was using dial-up Internet back in grade 2 I believe, and is also a hoax as such published in Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_is_beautiful_virus_hoax Perhaps you should consider verifying the source of information as well as the authenticity of the information before passing it on to others
  13. So as per Dell Technical Support running Dell Diagnostics, there was a hard disk drive error that luckily was not a physical defect. A reinstallation of the operating system solved the problem, but nonetheless I had to run out to Walmart to buy an external hard drive to back up my data as Dropbox, Pogoplug and SkyDrive didn't come close to storing the amount of data I had on the computer, plus it would take forever to upload a 20 GB file even if I have a university speed network connection. All the other tests are coming up fine though, the hard disk still has 1 error that comes up on Dell Diagnostics, so I'm not sure if it's a sign that it will completely fail soon...
  14. People generally don't like toolbars, however since you're developing it for clients I assume it will be deployed in a business environment where all the computers will have this toolbar? If so, which browser is installed? Any relatively recent browser would probably make toolbars rather cumbersome, as IE, Firefox, Chrome and Opera all cut down on unnecessary UI elements, which includes toolbars. In fact, there is no way to develop a toolbar from Chrome, but rather buttons. Firefox and IE still allow toolbars, although they are discouraged. Not too sure about Opera.Perhaps another solution would be more useful? However if you insist on creating a toolbar, take a look at the Mozilla Developer Center (for Firefox) and MSDN (for IE).
  15. I have tried Skype and a few different IDEs, as well as Notepad++, none of them overwrite text when I press Insert. I don't have Linux installed at the moment, perhaps it works there? I'm on a Windows machine. I have this forum on Google Chrome and the insert key doesn't do anything o.O
  16. Yes I definitely would recommend HTML Tidy, as it is an add-on that is still actively in development and can check accessibility as well (to the point where machines can automatically do it). Recently they have added HTML5 experimental support, which is good as we are moving more from HTML4.01/XHTML 1.0 sites to HTML5.
  17. This isn't meant to spark an HTML5+JavaScript vs Flash war, but is HTML5/Canvas/JavaScript/CSS3 capable of doing this or no?
  18. I don't understand why anyone would disable Insert, it doesn't do anything except in Microsoft Office Word and OpenOffice.org, but it's not like you're going to type anything more than a few words at most without noticing. I am unsure of every keyboard layout from every manufacturer, but I can't press it accidentally easily from any keyboard I've ever used. Also, I miss my context menu key! There is none on this laptop
  19. I am running that right now and it doesn't show any errors, I have also tried Auslogics Disk Defrag, again with no errors.
  20. This isn't an Internet related issue because it happens even when I am not connected. I have also tried shutting off the "radio" (WiFi/Bluetooth) and it is still a problem. Is my hard drive faulty? So far nothing has came up on Dell Diagnostics.
  21. I don't have the virtual machine running, and my CPU usage isn't anything abnormal. My memory usage isn't anything abnormal either, it's around 1.12 GB with Chrome running right now. But it is still quite unresponsive, and I have noticed that Chrome takes long to load pages not due to network connectivity issues but because it is "waiting for cache" for a long time before actually downloading the page.
  22. I have a very strange problem with my computer since Tuesday (6 days ago). It has become suddenly slow and unresponsive to the state where it is intolerable. There wasn't any apparent software or hardware changes to cause this, and I have already tried a system restore, to no success. It isn't necessary the startup that is slow, but everything. Start up is actually pretty normal, but afterwards it takes a long time to launch a single application or to even click Start. The Windows shell is literally unresponsive. Launching something like Task Manager takes 3 minutes, same with Microsoft Office Word. Google Chrome appears faster, but to do anything it takes a few minutes for the chrome (interface) to become responsive, whether it be opening a new tab or loading the app icons on the new tab page.Pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE will not bring up the Login UI screen until minutes later. In rare cases, I have had to use the power button to forcefully shut down the system, which I have never had to do before.I have disabled all startup programs except for Soluto and Comodo Internet Security. I also have ran virus and spyware scans via Comodo Internet Security, they both turned up negative. Windows Defender hasn't shown anything either. My hard disk is approximately 48% full, with over 2/3 of that containing a virtual machine and a collection of videos. I have ran CCleaner and cleaned out "junk", which wasn't a lot. I have also tried defragmenting the hard disk, that wasn't much help.In safe mode, the problem is still apparent to a lesser degree.Does anyone have any suggestions? I really need this computer running smoothly again as I depend on it quite a bit for university.
  23. I find freescripts and Dynamic Drive to be providing JavaScript that is bad quality nowadays. The format of the JavaScript codes on those sites are similar to what was written probably 15 years ago. HotScripts, IMO, offers a very wide variety of scripts in many languages that are more recent. Well there might be some old ones but their rating system is pretty good so the more recent and better ones will come up first.
  24. This shortcut has been in Windows 98 or maybe even before that, I'm not sure as I have not used any version of Windows before that. It still exists in Windows 7, and I suppose it is useful if you don't have indicator lights to see if your caps/num/scroll lock button is turned on (for instance, my laptop only has an indicator light on the caps lock button itself to indicate that status of the button).Usually though, you'd notice if caps lock was on or not, as for num lock just start typing in numbers in the num pad in any text box to determine the status of that. As for scroll lock, I believe the only common program to support that is Microsoft Office Excel. I just noticed that I don't even have a scroll lock key on my laptop.
  25. LOL I wouldn't be surprised if space travel was offered as a reward for Air Miles/Aeroplan Miles in the future
