  1. As it stands in my house right now I use AOL but also have a seperate yahoo email account for when I need it. I actually havent heard alot about Gmail, but I do know there are alot of ads on yahoo which I'm sure probably contribute to some spyware on my computer which I don't want. If Gmail doesn't have any ads that would be the way I would want to go, if it is free. Can anyone tell me what kind of other features it would have that your talking about besides the 1gig of space.

  2. I disagree with AVG being good. Maybe I guess for being freeware, but I had a ton of viruses found on my machine once norton was put on some trojans. Now after some suggestions I am using AntiVir. I can't afford a paid anti-virus program so I have to use a freeware version and am always on the lookout for something good. I was fooled by the the large definition files of AVG and good things I've heard, but I will not use it again. AntiVir i've heard of though a few people now, but hopefully it won't end up being the same situation.

  3. Thanks, just one more question. I didn't see it on the Wamp site, but do I have to be running windows professional, because I am running windows XP home right now. My other computer is in the shop and I am low on funds to get it out, bad power supply. As I said I am learning, but I am very dedicated and pick up things rather quick if I'm not too busy watching over the kids. But thanks for the info.

  4. That was very informative. I dont think I know enough about computers right now to do tweaking but I will be getting better anti-virus protection and defragment tools and the firewall. I thought I knew more than I do, but this site is a great eye opener. This is the second time I've heard AntiVir mentioned and I will definatly be getting that one. Thanks for the tips.

  5. I play this game Fantasy film maker, a MMPOG for a couple of years now. All text based, you write a script, any lenght, send it to a scriptwriter which takes a few days real time. Then you can cast it from a database of real actors and put it into production. Once production is done it can be released to cinema for Friday and profits (hopefully) start rolling in. They have an online newspaper, forum, shoutbox, scriptwriters guild, and many great features if you love to write and love movies. Check it out if you do.

  6. I wouldn't suggest using AVG. I used it for about 1 1/2 years then started having alot of computer problems. When I took my computer to a friend who helps me with my computer, they put Norton on (which I really don't like) and it found a ton of viruses on my machine. Now, I have no anti-virus because the norton expired. I think I might try that Anti-Vir though if an IT said it was good.

  7. I've heard that Linux is a very good operating system although I have been unable to try it. I wouldnt even know were to begin. I've also heard that the Mac hardly gets any viruses which I would like alot. But I'm so used to windows I wouldn't have the slightest clue what to do without it. I'm sure if I were given the chance to work with linux though I probably would. Maybe even a Mac, though I've always had a thing against apple for some reason.

  8. I also have to ask you guys, "Where can I learn a programming language?"
After thinking about WHY: As a hobby at first and grow up into a freelance or a programmer for some company. I take a great amount of interest in computers and I have to say programming is very vital in this computer world.

But first, I have to know where I can learn some stuff. Hmm... the problem is I don't know what language to start out with. I finally decided on HTML to get the hang of what everything is - but I also do not know how to "learn" HTML. Teachers told me that it's a self-learning language through the trial and error method / use of Frontpage codes.

It was very intimidating because I had no idea what these codes stood for, except for some. For example, <br> means break (return). <b> is bold, <i> is italics, and that's it. Hahaha!!

I just got started learning to code myself. I went to a site called HTML Goodies and it can teach you about HTML, Perl, ASP, Javascript, Mysql and some others too I think. I've found it very helpful. I've wanted to learn coding for fun, for a game I've wanted to make. But someday maybe I'd like to do it for a career, who knows.

  9. I'm just now learning how to code, and don't know anything about how to find templets to use. I'm having alot of fun learning coding. I find it a challenge and a its great to see my own results from making my own web pages. I've used templets in blogs and things like that but they've never been exactly what I've wanted, so I'm pretty sure I would prefer always making my own.
