  2. when going to lokitorrent.com you will encounter this

    http://www.lokitorrent.com/

    http://www.lokitorrent.com/

There are websites that provide legal downloads. This is not one of them.

This website has been permanently shut down by court order because it facilitates the illegal downloading of copyrighted motion pictures. The illegal downloading of motion pictures robs thousands of honest, hard-working people of their livelihood, and stifles creativity. Illegally downloading movies from sites such as these without proper authorization violates the law, is theft, and is not anonymous. Stealing movies leaves a trail. The only way not to get caught is to stop.

The BitTorrent hub LokiTorrent has been shut down by a lawsuit from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), with the eight-hour outage earlier today turning out to be the prelude to a closure. The site came back online briefly with BitTorrent-related content, but within hours that had been replaced by a notice from the MPAA.

"There are websites that provide legal downloads. This is not one of them," reads the new front page of lokitorrent.com. "This website has been permanently shut down by court order because it facilitates the illegal downloading of copyrighted motion pictures." An MPAA press release said LokiTorrent operator Edward Webber agreed to pay "a substantial settlement with even greater financial penalties for any further such actions," and was under court order to provide the MPAA with logs and server data.

LokiTorrent had been among the most visible portals supporting BitTorrent, the popular distributed file-serving technology developed by Bram Cohen. Two other torrent hubs, SuprNova.org and TorrentBits.org shut down in December, shortly after the MPAA began filing lawsuits against sites supporting BitTorrent. LokiTorrent announced that it would fight the MPAA lawsuit, and raised more than $25,000 in user donations prior to seeking sale offers on the domain auction site Sedo. Statistics at Sedo show the site had been averaging 185,000 visitors per day over the last three weeks.

  6. If you need a C compiler to compile a program in C for example, who made the C compiling program, and how? Does it work from an older programming language, or is there some neat programming trick that I'm missing here? It's a bit puzzling to me.

  8. wo men have been convicted for piracy over peer-to-peer networks in the first case of its kind in the US. The pair, William Trowbridge from New York and Michael Chicoine of Texas, were running central hubs in a piracy community running over the Direct Connection P2P system. They had admitted infringing copyright by illegally sharing music, films and software. The convictions of Trowbridge and Chicoine were the result of "Operation Digital Gridlock". The pair face jail terms of up to five years and a $250,000The piracy group called itself the Underground Network and membership of it demanded that users share between one and 100 gigabytes of files. On the organization's Web page, the group has posted a message that reads, in part, "Peer-to-peer technology is engaged in a constant battle with those who fear change and innovation. The United States Government has recently joined the wrong side of this fight."Users access the site by downloading Direct Connect software and then connecting to the Underground Network. There is no fee to join the network and members are provided with access to a list of hub sites on the network. The DoJ stressed that NeoModus, which develops the Direct Connect P2P software, is not a target of the investigation.Trowbridge operated a hub called "Movie Room" from 2002 to 2004, and Chicoine operated a hub named "Achenon's Alley TM." The sites offered music, movies, software and computer games. The two faced the charges following FBI raids last August, carried out as part of Operation Digital Gridlock, which is aimed at fighting copyright theft over P2P. The men are due to be sentenced on April 29.During the August press conference, US Attorney General John Ashcroft said search warrants were executed in Texas, New York and Wisconsin in raids on five residences and an Internet service provider. During the raids, federal agents seized computers, software and computer-related equipment.Ashcroft said the raids "disrupted an extensive peer-to-peer network suspected of enabling users to traffic illegally in music, films, software and published works.""As today's pleas demonstrate, those who steal copyrighted material will be caught, even when they use the tools of technology to commit their crimes," Ashcroft said in a statement issued late Tuesday afternoon. "The Department of Justice is committed to pursuing and bringing to justice those who commit intellectual property theft." The FBI, the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and the Justice Department's Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, is conducting the ongoing investigation. The DoJ says theft through the illegal reproduction and distribution of movies, software, games and music is estimated to annually cost U.S. industries $19 billion worldwide

  10. Ok this topic is stupid first of all America brought this war onto themselves. I'm not going in to detail but heres the besic plot.

Before the U.S needs help osama/Iraq help U.S.

Bush says when ever Iraq needs help the U.S will help them.

    Iraq needs help

    Bush doesnt help

Iraq does the airplane thingy (9/11)

Bush gets mad and U.S and Iraq get into a war

So if Bush would have helped Iraq they would have never done the 9/11 attacks.

    END!

    43802[/snapback]

not 100% true but i totaly back up your point of view

  11. ..... Windows have a 99.5% not crash. If you run other things than the percentage will drop to 60-70% which is not good.

    xboxrulz

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    with all du respect

    you are overdoing the procentages

i take winxp for a very good system

and the crash % with "other things" is more or less then 2 %

so .... 98 proc of the time the is no chance of a crash

  12. well creative sucks with drivers even for windows so you can't expect much for linux, however there are mature drivers that support SB cards including live and audigy for linux, most notably as ALSA

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    the truth sucks :D

i do know bout ALSA but the shity part is taht i use sp-dif as an output and this stands as a major problem

and now i cannot configure my dsl modem to work

and dont wanna say this but i hope i will not end my linux adventure with the sentence " good damn it sucked":):)
