i think that if you compare XP to other M$ products then yeah, its probably their best OS, but, linux is way better, at least from my point of view, and ive only been using it for the past 4 or 5 months, no crashes or anything.I hate when XP crashes, with that blue screen, or lately it hasent been shuting down well, so its just not very good with me. Maybe its different with you but, not with me.

The Space do you think we will ever live on the moon??
jjhou replied to hellgate's topic in Science and Technology
i dont think we will be able to live on the moon for around 500 years like you said but im sure for a fact that there will be space stations set up on the moon within the next 150 years,U never know scientists may find a way to make an ozone layer for the moon if they ever get that smart lmao did they actually find water on the moon ? -
I signed up for an hriders.com account about a month or two ago. So far, it has not lived up to its 500 mB attachment claim in the least. Despite many attempts, I could not configure an SMTP account with my email client (Thunderbird), so I conclude that they do not offer SMTP. So the only option is trying to send attachments via their web interface. Even trying to attach a 5 mB attachment is iffy with that method. So if you're wanting to back up your mp3 collection, I would advice you to be prepared to send each mp3 individually.

Firefox Or Internet Explorer that is the question...
jjhou replied to Judman's topic in The Internet
what makes firefox so great is its customizability. imagine what firefox would be without extensions, themes, and without an open source! when you let absolutely anyone submit improvements to the source, and allow for easy creation of extensions without touching the browser source! -
I also think it's one of the alien wares but i currently own one and i also own the Dell Xps and Alien beats it because its newer. But i dont really know which would perform better if i bought it with the exact stuff like ram and things like that.

For php, html & CSS programming is the best editor i can have installed right now at my computer, i sincerely don't like the programs like dreamwaver or microsoft frontpage (im talking about creating html pages) because all of this META tags "extra" that they put in your page, i personally found them confusing because they make my html document a little heavy (in kb), and with the notepad y just can create every tag.

Free Message Board Needs Php Can I have it?
jjhou replied to Fun4TheMoney's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Normally you just upload the file into a folder created in /public_html, then you'll need to setup a new MySQL datebase and give full permission for the database to a MySQL user. Then you usually just run a install.php file located somewhere in your forum folder.I'm not too familiar with YaBB, since it uses Perl, I dont know what other procedures you need to do before running. -
Well, i like strategy games like Star Craft and War (brazilian game i think). This second was very popular board game here in Brazil and one time someone built in software so, if someone would like to adict to War write me!I think that Im the unique that had the War Software.

jjhou replied to darvtech's topic in Computer Gaming

It would be a very good game if it wasn't for GTA 3 and VC.In my opinion the only thing it has that the GTA games don't is the extra driving games. My advise would be, if you haven't bought it yet then wait for GTA : San Andreas. its pretty much good until you beat it and then the only thing to do is to drive around and kill all timmy vercelys hidden in miami, istanbul, and nice.

Halflife 2 and Doom3 are all talk no work...it has been going on saying that it will be realeased but everytime either the release gets pulled back or something comes up.What we see are only rumours, nothing is solid yet....anyway, see how smart the comapny is? Making you pre-order before they even release the game.

StarCraft is worth every penny...you get many different maps and gametypes 3different races and its all win win! ive heard good things about EverQuest and check sites like GameFaqs.com for reveiws on games to see what would best suit you. also try and find different sites with people who like that same types of games you like.

I did use Paint Shop Pro 7 for a little while, but trial ran out (I don't feel like wasting $150 on graphics software.) I've also used Painter 2.3-2.5,Ultimate Paint, Articons (for making icons only), and Paint Shop Pro 4. Currently, I just use MS Paint or the sprite editor in Game Maker

I would forget PDA. Its not really useful for much - looks good but not good enough for full regular use - so if you want to wtach movies ( always good on campus )) and do some serious word proceessing etc -get a notebook. Some of the new ones would be very light and easy to carry - I odn't think you owuld regret your decisinon.

There are good programs like "Pest Patrol" and "GIANT anti-spyware". the first one it's a bit expensive, sometimes heavy and anoying but is the most secure and the second was bought by Microsoft and it's not known if they are going to make software or freeware.

I think Mozilla Firefox is fast and nice and easy to work without any software for slowing browser and ...Mozilla Firefox is secure.I also find Mozilla a very handy browser... the tabs feature is really good (don′t know if Opera has it) and anyway, I think we have to be united using one browser as a real alternative to Explorer monopoly. For that reason, I choose Mozilla which has a bigger community of users.

Do U Think The Computer Can Still Be Improved?
jjhou replied to FiReStOrM's topic in Science and Technology
I think it is not even a question if they can still be improved. We have a long way to go before they can't anymore, just cause its the most amazing thing you've seen yet doesn't mean it can't get any better then it is now. People said the same thing about 50 MHz CPUs and many other things, including almost every home appliance in the 1950s. Graphics can get better, there is much room for improvement. One can't fully understand until one has experience in that field. Graphics one might say are at the best they can get, but if you play around with models in FPS games or any other PC game, you will notice that there can be much more work done. Maps too, there can be more detail and less bugs then ever before. -
Are You For Or Against Cloning? what would be your reason?
jjhou replied to adriantc's topic in Science and Technology
The tasmanian tiger is extinct because of men hunting it to extinction in just 30 years. And even if it is the natural law for unadapted species to became extinct we are only human. The same natural law whould tell us to kill the men which are not fit for reproduction like invalids...but we are human, we like to belive that we are over (better) than the natural law. -
It sounds interesting. Is it real? I wonder what would be in it. Maybe the default wallpaper would be a picture of his computer? lol Too bad I can't buy that. It would be okay. Btw since Microsoft set up that thing to scan computers when you update patches and they freeze computers that aren't legible I would recommend not using it if your friend does have it.

I mainly use the internet for my amusement. Simple things make me happy and I find that surfing through informative and sometimes useless but fun websites make my stay in the world wide web worth while. Oh and also I'm an amatuer web designer/developer and so I try to look at other site's layout and I compare it to mine.

I checked my Gmail and it wasn't there. Do you think it's part of a closed beta feature test that's enabled for just a limited set of accounts? Perhaps it's to facilitate wireless access to your Gmail from a phone or PDA?Did you check your mailbox for an e-mail from the Gmail team?

I use bittornado cuz its the most fastest and easy to use one out there. Ive used the orignal one and ABC but i got sick of them cuz i dunno why the speeds would be slow on it. Bittorando is good overall but sumtimes when i close it it freezes and it still runs in the backround which pisses me off but its still good .

If both communications fail at same time, what then? Murphy's law sais:"if something can get wrong - it will(get wrong).in hebrew, we Jews - have a rabi, a Hassidic rabi - Nachman me-Uman sais:"those who believe he(the Lord above)can make something wrong -should believe he(same)can mend it.I believe that the Lord is not yet bored with whatever people do or fail to do - fact is he's creating millions of people more eachgeneration.

Firefox Or Internet Explorer that is the question...
jjhou replied to Judman's topic in The Internet
What is important, though, is that no browser is perfect. I'm mainly looking at this from a page rendering view here, being a wannabe-web designer. Eg: IE doesnt support <blink>, for example, it also renders a lot of CSS incorrectly. But it is by far the best browser for Javascript etc. Why can't they just make a super-browser, which takes all the best elements from each? But then, I suppose everyone would use it, and hate it as it was the monopoly what makes firefox so great is its customizability. imagine what firefox would be without extensions, themes, and without an open source! when you let absolutely anyone submit improvements to the source, and allow for easy creation of extensions without touching the browser source!
