A while ago i had this strange dream... It was the end of the world - a huge meteor was going to hit the earth and destroy us. You could see it in the sky, and people were running around screaming and looting shops, which I remember thinking seemed rather pointless since we were all going to be dead soon. Then the meteor hit... only it wasn't this massive asteroid people thought it was and was only about the size of a football. It bounced a couple of times then rolled into the gutter and the whole thing was something of an anticlimax. The point of this little story is that when i woke up & put the radio on, the guy was doing an "on this day in history" feature... apparently about 200 years ago some crackpot philosopher had predicted that this was the very day the earth would end! Obviously he was wrong cos we're still here, but having that dream on that day was kind of spooky. So, coincidence? Or is it really possible to know things that there is no rational explanation for you knowing?

kay... I'm already going on a 2nd date with a nice girl, but so far my head is only has those standard going out idea's Play pool + have a drink Go visit a movie + have a drink Go to a bar to have a drink (and a live Jazz Band ) <-- was my first date suggestion Have lunch/dinner together Do something sporty Go bowling and have a drink Play games (board, card games ) Any of you guys have nice original suggestions? You have to keep in mind my date works 40 hours/week, so evenings are the usual the time when she's free. My city of Utrecht is of average size (300,000-350,000 people), so it has quite a lot of going out places, but which one to pick? Want to share your tips/suggestions/going out experiences? Thanks !!!!!!

Ok, i was out tonight with some mates and we got turned away from a club in the gay village because we looked too straight. (We went there because it was the only place open at that time of night) Were they justified in turning us away for being straight or is that discrimination? We just wanted somewhere to go after most places had closed. We didnt care that it was a "gay bar" so should they care that we we are straight?

^Yep, thanx a bunch I'll try to pay more attention to details next time.

'Order the signal, Hardy.''Aye, aye sir.''Hold on, that's not what I dictated to the signal officer. What's the meaning of this?''Sorry, sir?'' "England expects every person to do his duty, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious persuasion or disability." What gobbledygook is this?''Admiralty policy, I'm afraid, sir. We're an equal opportunities employer now. We had the devil's own job getting 'England' past the censors, lest it be considered racist.''Gadzooks, Hardy. Hand me my pipe and tobacco.''Sorry sir. All naval vessels have been designated smoke-free working environments.''In that case, break open the rum ration. Let us splice the mainbrace to steel the men before battle.''The rum ration has been abolished, Admiral. Its part of the Government's policy on binge drinking.''Good heavens, Hardy. I suppose we'd better get on with it. Full speed ahead.''I think you'll find that there's a 4 knot speed limit in this stretch of water.''Damn it man! We are on the eve of the greatest sea battle in history. We must advance with all dispatch. Report from the crow's nest, please.''That won't be possible, sir.''What?''Health and safety have closed the crow's nest, sir. No harness. And they said that rope ladder doesn't meet regulations. They won't let anyone up there until a proper scaffolding can be erected.''Then get me the ship's carpenter without delay, Hardy.''He's busy knocking up a wheelchair access to the fo'c'sle Admiral.''Wheelchair access? I've never heard anything so absurd.''Health and safety again, sir. We have to provide a barrier-free environment for the differently abled.''Differently abled? I've only one arm and one eye and I refuse even to hear mention of the word. I didn't rise to the rank of admiral by playing the disability card.''Actually, sir, you did. The Royal Navy is under-represented in the areas of visual impairment and limb deficiency.''Whatever next? Give me full sail. The salt spray beckons.''A couple of problems there too, sir. Health and safety won't let the crew up the rigging without crash helmets. And they don't want anyone breathing in too much salt - haven't you seen the adverts?'I've never heard such infamy. Break out the cannon and tell the men to stand by to engage the enemy.''The men are a bit worried about shooting at anyone, Admiral.''What? This is mutiny.''It's not that, sir. It's just that they're afraid of being charged with murder if they actually kill anyone. There's a couple of legal aid lawyers on board, watching everyone like hawks.''Then how are we to sink the Frenchies and the Spanish?''Actually, sir, we're not.''We're not?''No, sir. The Frenchies and the Spanish are our European partners now. According to the Common Fisheries Policy, we shouldn't even be in this stretch of water. We could get hit with a claim for compensation.''But you must hate a Frenchman as you hate the devil.''I wouldn't let the ship's diversity co-coordinator hear you saying that sir. You'll be up on disciplinary.''You must consider every man an enemy who speaks ill of your King.'Not any more, sir. We must be inclusive in this multicultural age. Now put on your Kevlar vest; it's the rules.''Don't tell me - health and safety Whatever happened to rum, sodomy and the lash?'As I explained, sir, rum is off the menu. And there's a ban on corporal punishment.''What about sodomy?''I believe it's to be encouraged, sir''In that case, kiss me, Hardy.'

Went for a drink last night and whilst looking for the loo in the pub we found a hidden karaoke night going on upstairs. It was like gate crashing someones party, everyone was dancing and singing along, some quite badly, some actually very good to old old songs including 'I will survive' of course. It was a very good atmosphere with lots of different ages and mix of people and all having a good time.Got very drunk though...the hangover is just settling in my head as I speak and one young girl who was also very drunk, well she must have been because she said she wanted to be like us, older and sophisticated and miss out the rest of her twenties...which is a bit sad really.Anyway the question is whats your view on Karaoke's? Generally I would avoid them like the plague and like I said sort of stumbled on this one really. What makes some so good and some just utter shite?

Me and 80'sHR have been comvinced over the past few years that several actors and singers were dead only to have them show up on tv, much to our surprise. For example, I thought Christopher Lloyd was dead, and still am despite him bringing out 2 films next year!!!80's thought Gene Pitney was dead until he turned up on news24 the other day talking about Marc Almond. And he thought Robert Vaughn was dead until he showed up in Hustlers. He could even remember reading his obit.!!!So what about you: ever had an embarrassing situation when a dead star turned up out of the blue, and is it all a media conspiracy, done with mirrors and *BLEEP*, and they are really dead?

John Prescott in the last few minutes on the Today programme said the following among a lot of other high speed gabble. Any definition of homelessness that suggests that people haven't got a home is not a good thing at all.. Indeed what a terrible suggestion. I am now struggling to remember the name of the Tory politician in the 80s who said. "These stories about homelessness are just rumours put about by people with nowhere to live." Hocus Eye

I?ve just had some dental work done ? three sessions which was one root canal, one seemingly useless session to scrape out some more of the gunk in the canal and replace the temporary filling and finally, one white filling because my dentist totally talked me out of having an amalgam filling. The cost of this (I?m an NHS patient) was ?228 which I think is a bit steep. I didn?t have enough money on me to pay for it so I paid ?95 and promised to pay the rest later but now I?m considering witholding payment. The other thing I should mention is that all this work was only necessary because two years ago I had exactly the same treatment on exactly the same tooth but my dentist (same surgery, different dentist) didn?t do it properly. Does anyone know if there is a body I can complain to or a standardised pricing scale for dentistry on the NHS. Apparantly white fillings arent covered by NHS but I wasn?t told this. Was I ripped off? Am I within my rights to withold payment if I wasnt given a proper quote beforehand. Does anyone else hate dentists?

I cant choose between IE, Mozilla and Netscape. They're all good, each in its own way. Most of the time I use IE for its features. Netscape I use for testing my newly created pages and for ripping stuff. Mozilla for its speed and stability.

^Sure there are some great antiviruses that are totally free, you only have to pay if you want to upgrade to a pro version. I use "avast!" and it served me pretty well, and it takes much less resources than norton.

I know a guy who regularly used to drink in my local for four/five hours every day and then get in his car and drive home!About 14 months ago he got caught and is currently banned from driving. However I recently discovered he is drinking in another pub where he isnt known and repeating the behaviour even tho as I stated he is banned.Thing is do I grass him up,after all he is an accident waiting to happen, but I am uneasy about grassing him up.If it makes the decision easier for you all he is a single guy,a professional con man and doesnt have a mortgage or family that depend on him to earn by using his car or anything!

So I was looking at the news today and I saw a bit about the Witchcraft Museum at Boscastle in Cornwall. Got me to thinking about Witchcraft as a true concept. I was taught in my history classes that Witchcraft or Blackmagic was a historical myth. Witches were old woman who were excluded from the community and for many reasons were subject to rumour and superstition vs religious dogma and communual social fear.Does Witchcraft exist ? Is there any real evidence that Blackmagic works ? Does the Devil do his work on earth ? Where is the evidence ?

I'm talking standard christmas stocking toys here. Of course we all loved cardboard boxes, forts made out of settees, and ant nests... but these dont count in this thread.Lego is an obvious one. You could build *BLEEP*ing anything, and it worked and moved around and *BLEEP*. Especially technics, and the early pneumatic kits.. how freaking cool were they. You'd build the main model, then the 2 or 3 alternative models, then stash the bits in your huge lego box. I was unhealthily obsessed.. I remember there was a lego magazine/newsletter, and a catalogue where you could order all sorts of obscure technics parts. Top notch, my all time favourite toy. Every now and again I get a Nathan-Barley-esque urge to go looking for some kits on ebay. I never forgave my mum for chucking away all my lego when i was about 13, the *BLEEP*!Transformers were also cool. They were just action figures at the end of the day, but from a designers perspective, to make a car model that you can move bits and it becomes a robot is pretty *BLEEP*ing ok in my books. What's that new car advert out where it morphs into a transformer. Can't remember the car, but the CG is some of the best i've seen. Stunning.Zoids.. are we going back a bit here? They were cool too. Anything you had to build yourself and then it did *BLEEP* at the end of it was a good toy. I seem to remember the early ones were quite crude but had very cool windup walking/flying/whatever motions. Dunno what happened to the brand, ie whether it became shite like lego.I also had a starcom obsession at some point. Does anyone remember starcom? I don't think they were that popular, but the build quality and functionality beat the *BLEEP* out of that GI joe action man *BLEEP* or whatever it was called. If i recall.. the smaller units would compact into cubic crates that could be transported around - you clicked a button and bits sprung out so they became proper vehicles or whatever. Again, very well designed.Mechano.. obviously someone will mention that, but a bit behind my time. I did get a small kit, but I found it a bit boring and literal. It was just like building something in real life. Just smaller. An engineers toys I suppose?I dunno, I don't actually have any of these toys still in my possession, but I remember them all being really well designed and generally very cool. Tinted specs maybe? Then again, thinking back to my younger brothers christmasses and the toys that were 'in' then.. *BLEEP*ing POWER RANGERS, what the *BLEEP* was that all about out? The toys didnt *BLEEP*ing do anything, they were just shoddily injection moulded lumps of useless ugly plastic. So.1) What toys do you fondly remember - why were they good.2) Is there still innovative stuff being designed, or is it all turning into pop cack now?

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ These two paramedics are shedding doubt on the conclusion by the coroner that he died from injuries to his wrist. My husband has been to many such suicides and he says that there's always lots of blood. Weird. I still think Kelly was murdered.

Yes people, it's that time of the year. Snow and santa? Noooo, Game Of The Year! And Silent Storm have been nominated twice on GameSpy's poll! So why don't you run along and vote for it as best strategy and best overall right now! If anyone knows of more GOTY polls where S2/S3 is nominated, post links here.
