  1. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and economical means of communication.I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online. Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently, I have try a new VOIP product from a US company, it calls Telextreme. Don't know u all have heard of it no.With the package that i have sign up, i call call to my friend's cell phone or fixed phone with only USD59.95 a month with NO AIR-TIME LIMIT. It provides Crystal-Clear calling and to others countries as well like US(All 50 states), UK, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and mores. To use this product, u need to have a broadband line to support it. Otherwise, u will wait a few second hear your friend's voice.

  2. Slow start to speedy net servicesService providers are in a race to be the fastestFaster broadband in the UK is becoming a reality as more internet providers offer super-fast services. Some lucky Britons can already take advantage of UK Online's 8 megabits per second service, which was launched in November 2004.BT Retail has announced that it will trial the same speed service, with a national rollout by year end.Other service providers are expected to follow suit and a glut of new voice and video services will follow.Losing market share"If the bandwidth is there then ISPs will buy it," said Jill Finger, a research director at analyst firm IDC.Others will be watching BT Retail's trials, which is initially for employees and later in the summer for customers, with interest. For BT Retail, she said, the super-fast service could be a way of differentiating it from other players."It has been losing market share and this could be one way of gaining some of that back," said Ms Finger.Wanadoo is set to trial an 8Mbps service in the summer and also plans to roll out unbundled services - which means it takes over the network from BT - which will provide speeds of up to 15Mbps.There is no timetable for this at the moment. Cable firms ntl and Telewest are also bound to increase bandwidth at some time in the future and, according to an ntl spokesman, are in a better position than BT in the long term."BT's network is limited compared to that of cable. With all the other services coming on stream such as video on demand, the question is will 8Mbps be enough?" he asked.----As we know now acording to BBC - ISP's are now offering 8MB connection and soon 15MB, you think this is really nessassary for a home user? I know I think it is, anyone disagree?

i was wondering if anyone has these headphones or anything like them

these are amazing i love these. i got those headphones for my birthday and as good as they are im a bass lover. i love bass

these are amazing ive never FELT anything like them

its like having earth shattering sound system in headphones.

what surprised me the most were that they were amazingly cheap for such nice headphones. Well they are very very very poorly made. Not the cups or anything just the head strap part. But if ur careful these are awesome

the bass vibrates all around ur ear and it feels awesome.

i just wanted to share this information for those who dont know about these. i think everyone should try these. very cheap so if you dont like it, they wont be a huge investment.

im not bragging im recommending them to everyone because theyre worth the price

so if u dont like them then dont get them

theyre cheap and awesome, what more can u ask for.

  4. How to make your PC silent?yes, I know all PCs will make noise, but there has to be products or materials or things you can do make them or help them become silentI know how to make a PC quiet... buy every component, etc that is very quiet..... fans, harddrives, cases, PS fans, CPU fans... or even use water coolers.... BUT for those who didn't think about case noise and besides starting from scratch....What products out there work? What products or components can we change that make a BIG difference!?!?!?!Please give pros/cons and reviews if you have tried or found anything that works good.I just changed 2 of my 3 PCs the 2 case fans in each. The existing fans were "cheap" I guess, not any good name brand, etc. I tried to look up their decibles on the web... I think most were about / around 30 dba.I replaced them with Vantec, 80mm, double ball bearing "stealth" case fans. Their rated dba was 21.I was hoping the 30% less dba would make a difference.... I "THINK" I can bearly tell....they cost $10 bucks each from Fry's... but I would not replace the current ones... if I would have know I would tell the differenceAnyway...that was my 2 cents.thanks for your reviews and input....PS. I'm hoping someone has some new Technology that quiets the PC by 50% percent!!!!All I want is a quiet office!!!

  5. FireFox infected my computer!

I was doing a memory usage comparision between FireFox and Opera here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

I opened a lot of sites in FF including some cracks sites. All of a sudden I got multiple virus warnings from Avast antivirus, and an Internet Explorer window popped up!!!

A toolbar was installed, and a spyware search thing by 180solutions was running in my system tray:

Please note that your warn level is at 80% right now.

The once-mighty Netscape browser is attempting a comeback. How, you ask? Simple. By combining the best elements of its two leading rivals.

Netscape is out with a test release of version 8.0, and the new browser is nothing like its recent predecessors, which were mostly about fixing bugs and playing catch-up.

I just wish Netscape didn't constantly try to dispatch me to content from its developer, America Online Inc., or its partners. But more on that later.

More than 90 percent of the world's surfing is still done on Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer, but many users complain of its numerous security vulnerabilities and lack of modern features like tabbed browsing, which lets you visit multiple Web sites without opening multiple browser windows.

Enter Mozilla Firefox, which debuted last fall to much fanfare. It lacks many of the IE features, like ActiveX, which is often blamed for enabling security breaches, and with its relatively low usage, malicious hackers don't target Firefox as much. But some sites won't work with Firefox because they need the IE features.

The new Netscape, which is only available for Windows PCs, addresses the quandary through a regularly updated list of "good" and "bad" sites.

If Netscape deems a site good, a green shield appears and the browser displays the site using the IE software engine that is built into Windows. Netscape figures such sites present little security risk, so why not enable all the features?

I succeeded in accessing Microsoft's Windows Update site along with the advanced features of my company's Web-based Outlook e-mail, neither of which works with Firefox.

Netscape displays a yellow shield when a site is absent from its list. In such cases, deeming Firefox safer, Netscape uses a Firefox engine that is embedded in Netscape's software.

Red shields along with a warning page appear when sites are on the bad list.

Not only does Netscape use Firefox, thus disabling ActiveX, but it also blocks that site from leaving data trackers called "cookies" and turns off support for Java and JavaScript, which can launch programs designed to steal information or perform other nasty tricks.

In this sense, Netscape is safer than Firefox or IE alone. I ran on all three browsers a site that tries to steal AOL billing information, and only Netscape successfully blocked the program from running.

Whether Netscape uses Firefox or IE, the site appears within the Netscape environment, and you always have access to tabbed browsing. You get IE's functionality and Firefox's security when you need them most.

Netscape also sports "multibars," a way to cram the equivalent of 10 toolbars into the space of a single one. Just click on "1," "2" and so on to switch among them. Each is customizable with whatever features you happen to want. Choose from Netscape's preprogrammed tools, like news headlines or maps, or add your own using Really Simple Syndication, or RSS, a technology for pulling content from sites (A bug that's supposed to be fixed before the final release in the next several weeks currently prevents you from fully doing so, though).

I particularly liked the feature that lets you check Web-based e-mail from Netscape, AOL, Excite, Gmail, Hotmail, Lycos, Mail.com or Yahoo. You get automatically logged in with a single click, though for now you don't get alerts for new mail. I did have occasional problems with the auto sign-in, but found the tool useful overall.

Netscape also sports a few improvements to Firefox: It's easier to open and close tabs and to instantly clear sensitive information like Web sites visited.

And while Firefox has a tool for remembering passwords, Netscape automatically logs you in.

My one major fault with Netscape is, however, a show stopper.

Most of its tools are geared toward generating traffic for AOL properties. The maps tool gets you MapQuest, the movies tool reaches Moviefone. Weather gets you AOL partner WeatherBug.

AOL says other companies, such as Yahoo Inc. and Fandango, are free to develop tools for Netscape, but that'll take time, limiting choice in the meantime. And while some of the third-party add-ons already developed for Firefox may work with Netscape, the ones I tried didn't.

Likewise, the built-in search box automatically runs Netscape's search engine, unlike Firefox, which lets you easily switch among Google, Yahoo and four others, while letting you add hundreds more.

The tools for the other engines weren't done in time for the test release, and even so, switching is more complicated with Netscape.

So until I get more choice, I plan on sticking with Firefox, even if it means occasionally having to run IE for those sites that need it.

  7. All the buzz about mp3 players, iPods...manufacturers have started to sell mp4 players (claims to play video and audio). All the mp4 players out there...i think they're only 3 big name ones now, all running Windows media software, kinda bricky, and have relatively short battery lives, w/ hard to get used to interfaces...w/ a coolness factor of about million. All rumor sites all think that apple, whatever steve jobs says, is going to get one out soon.Has anyone actually purchased one? if so, are they small and futuristic?

  8. I use Firefox for security and IE for the features. new IE7 looks very promising and might be a great combination of both, i really hope so anyways because firefox is very low on features and it has couple exploits too. There is much debate over the security of Web browsers, stemming mainly from Internet Explorer's vulnerability as a common target for hackers and virus writers. Microsoft regularly releases patches and updates to fix security holes in Internet Explorer that might allow someone to install malicious software or steal information from a computer. Firefox has not been the focus of hackers so far, but that doesn't mean it's inherently safer. For now, Firefox is enjoying a reprieve from viruses and hackers primarily because, compared to the widespread use of Internet Explorer, it is relatively obscure. Hackers haven't bothered exploiting Firefox yet, because the low yield means it wouldn't be worth their efforts. If Firefox ever achieves dominance among Web browsers, that can be expected to change. But I believe that IE will be the dominant browser in the end because its packed with tons of useful features.

  9. I like hot summers so I always wanted to visit the Brazil. The capital of the Alagoas State has wonderful beaches, and the color of sea varies from emerald green to blue, but the water is always clear. The sand is white and there are a lot of coconut plantations. This natural beauty combines with its urban coast, with a lot of hotels, restaurants and bars. The scenery ? inviting and attracts Brazilian and foreign tourists during all over the year. Its a dream :)

  10. DMC-Xclef 500. Currently available in 40 and 80 gigabyte capacities. Now...one hundred gigabytes of music. 25 000 songs...man that looks good on paper. I predict it'll be used as much as a portable hard drive as it is used as an MP3 player.Wow...remember three years ago or what not everyone was marvelling at how much music the original 5GB iPod could hold in such a pocketable package? :) Monitor the CNet Review Page if you wish...there's currently a 'first take' video. There will definitely be a review soon enough.

  11. Check out this review for the ATI X850 Card

    http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/,176.html

Expensive but got FABULOUS reviews. I am still waiting for the 'real' next gen cards though. After all of that reading it seems the final verdict is the only thing I really had to read. Seems like the BEST pick for the most unexellent price.

ATI has to release these to try to fix the bomb that was the X800 Pro, and the 6800 series is still standing strong. No 6850 needed! else, the next generation video cards wont be around for awhile. Its gonna be some time for the 512 bit cards to hit the market.

  12. Does anyone have it? If so, do you like it? I personaly love the new spyware remover from Microsoft, its very powerful. Seeing as its made by the developers of the OS itself, atleast I think its that way. My pc's IE was hijacked and the home page was locked at yahoo.com, I've been searching high and low for something to help me remove it and finally after months of living with yahoo as my start page, Microsoft Antispy extended a big helping hand! I love the program, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who cant afford another (payware) antispy program. Since I just got it I wont delete my common antispy program (Ad-Aware) but I did an Ad-Aware scan before I did the MSAS scan and Ad-Aware didnt find anything, but MSAS did, so it might be replacing Ad-Aware soon. I wont delete it now because MSAS is currently at the dreaded BETA state, so there is no telling what could happen.

  13. lol....ur website logo is lame...it takes up half the ipb space...lol...and why do i need to getit if i allready have it :) and your site is quite boring, you shouldnt install all those modz lol

    61009[/snapback]

Well actually he didnt, he claims he improved it some but he didnt actually install all those mods. He got the prepacked ipb board from http://www.vshare.us/showthread.php?t=34 and claims it to be his own, which is not true. But nevertheless, thanx for sharing it with us odomike and good luck with your forum. i'm gonna register on your forum either way but don't expect me to start posting right away.

  14. SO i downloaded the beta to see how it works. i will use it in conjunction to my xp pro (dual boot). I was just wondering if anyone knew what drivers i would need (b/c i think you have to download them before installing the OS) and where can i get them from.THX.
