You just write it in basic. I get bored alot at school and i wrote this stuff:-an rpg-a clock-snake-killing the teacher with a movable gun-nice graphic effects-and a lot of other stuffIts really simple. All you need to do is go to prgm -> new -> type in a new for your program and you can begin. In the calculator manual all the commands are discribed. It's really simple, qbasic is a language disigned for beginners. I also tryed assembler but it took me 20 lines just to start a programm. Just too difficult. Anyway, good luck.

I got my own email-adress from my domain with 60 mb (pop3, for free, with firstname@lastname.net, got it from my uncle) so i won't need gMail. Although it sounds like its quite cool, and i could probally get an invite from a friend if i wanted it. I really doubt an entire google OS is gonna happen. I imagen its a tremendous amount of work to do this and it will have little benefit for them (ai integrating their search-tech in their OS), and they will have to directly compete with ms on a point where they are good at (OS is one of their strongest points, as in, more popular at the large public). A browser however would be very atractive for them, as a good fast OSS browser allready excist. With a few xtra features a rebranded version could quickly take over the marked (as firefox, a total newcomer is doing now).

Favorite Instant Messenger Which one do you like best?
logophobia replied to dbh's topic in Software
GAIM, because its fast, free and easy. You can also have multiple accounts from different IMs. Its very handy, especially at school where msn/AIM etc are blocked. -
Yeah, but alot of peeps know google, use it everyday, use their toolbars etc etc. The step to a new browser (like firefox) they totally don't know may be scary. But if its a Gbrowser, who knows. If they make it better then ff or opera, it could be a big hit . ff is allready at 5% marked share or something, even as much as 30% on some sites (w3schools). That means theres at least some demand for a new good browser.

Stupid Teacher Got Me In Trouble and it was the most stupid reason ever
logophobia replied to thyob's topic in The Vent
Huh?Pretty weird teachers you got there. -
Saw this on the internet: http://mozillanews.org/?article_date=2004-10-19+01-52-31 Wouldnt it be cool to have a google browser. A better search integration a some nifty features. And not to mention, more people making w3c complaint sites so firefox doesn't choke on it anymore .

The problem is not the use of the word gay but the bias against gays in society.I think gay becoming a cuss-word is just a sympton of people discriminating, you shouldn't be concerned about the use of the word, but about people actually discriminating. Oh yea, did a google on the words . Check out this site: http://www.godhatesfigs.com/ . funny stuff .

Asp and sql (works with databases so you can store lots of data and dynamically create/request/destroy it). But if you want to be a pro I suggest you buy yourself a book. There's alot more to learn then just the basics of php and css. sql is also very powerfull (online shopping, logging, forums etc etc) so that is also a good choice to specialize in.

thx alot. Ill try that

nonono, nevermind. i meant if you replaced the var in the document.write with a number. Its meant to resize an Iframe to fit in the window. It works now just in firefox, not in IE. IE seems to ignore the width settings. Could anyone help me with this:<script type="text/javascript">var myHeight = 0;var myWidth = 0;if( typeof( window.innerWidth ) == 'number' ) {myHeight = window.innerHeight;myWidth = window.innerWidth;}else if( document.documentElement && ( document.documentElement.clientWidth || document.documentElement.clientHeight ) ) {myHeight = document.documentElement.clientHeight;myWidth = document.documentElement.clientWidth;}else if( document.body && ( document.body.clientWidth || document.body.clientHeight ) ) {myHeight = document.body.clientHeight;myWidth = document.body.clienWidth;}else{myHeight = window.height;myWidth = window.width;}myWidth = myWidth - 4;myHeight = myHeight - 133;document.write("<iframe src=\"http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; width=\"" + myWidth + "\" height=\"" + myHeight + "\"></iframe>");</script>

I have this small javascript that is supposed to resize an iframe. It works when I replace the var name with normal numbers but not with a variable input. Could someone help me out pls? Here is the script:<script type="text/javascript">var forumheight = window.height - 120;document.write("<iframe src=\"http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; width=\"99%\" height=\"" + forumheight + "\"></iframe>");</script>thx in advance

Mozilla Firefox is Best????? I have liked what about you?
logophobia replied to solankyno1's topic in Software
I think firefox and opera are the best browsers around. To bad you have to pay for opera or i would have tried it. I heard opera is somewhat faster and more costemizeble (more drag and drop) and has more standard functionality. But if the extensions keep coming at this speed then firefox will have surpassed opera in fuctionality in a year (even now it has stuff opera doesn't have). Tabbed browsing is really addicting for me and it really sux now to use IE (at school). Let's hope IE loses its markedshare soon so everyone can enjoy this. -
KERRY SUCKS! LIES LIES TELL AMERICA SWEET LITTLE lies
logophobia replied to sportzdawg's topic in The Vent
Ok, quoting can be very misleading. You didn't post the whole quote but from what i remember from when i saw the debate (2.30 here in europe) he said something like: striving for a situation where terrorism is again a nuisance (as it was before bush, where clinton took it serious and disabled several al-quade camps but noone really feared for their lives) and to concentrate on the goal, which was finding/killing bin laden before bush went to iraq (while flip-flopping on the reason for going, first it were the WMDs, then the eliminating saddam, then after those 2 turned out to be not a treath he wanted to make iraq into a democraty). And about those flip-flops kerry made on Iraq, they are not as bad as they seem. First he was convinced that saddam was a real threath (pretty stupid, but bush isnt the smartest either). Then when everything turned out to be false he changed his mind (which is something that is good). It was the wrong war, but he wants to finish it (cleaning up bush' mess). He is not as bad as bush says. Just my 2 cents -
Do You like POPUP Ads even though they pay more?
logophobia replied to OpaQue's topic in Online Advertising
I block popups and banners with firefox with the combination of a css/javascript thingie and the ad-block extension. I have never seen an ad since. -
The only problm. is that it doesnt have many maps and the modded maps generally suck (waaay to big). But i totally agree with you, i played that game for almost 2 months before i got bored. I like battlefield more though because of the larger servers and the vehicels (tanks, airplanes, battlecruisers etc).

are you sure you don't have any memory leaks. You must close all objects after you are done using them otherwise they stay in memory. If you don't you could choose to use virtual memory (using the HD to story temporary stuff).

I have like 60+ pc games and i finished most of them. I got stuck in about 10 % and got bored with another 10 % (+/- offcourse, just guessing, i dont really keep track). I only buy games of the gerne i really like and i know have a decent play time. I suggest you stop looking at just the scores it get and start looking for games you think interest you. And try playing the games you bought, it really sux to miss all the great games you bought while paying for them. And maybe talk with someone about that shopping-addiction you seem to have (3 games a week / 50 euro a game, i would be bankrupt within a month).

There's not really a standard script for such stuff. It's quite easy to make with languages like C++, delphi, qbasic or something webbased like javascript or java. It's standard command-line stuff so all you need to learn is the language. I recommend you try to learn javascript if you want to make an online game (maybe combined with php and sql for data-storing).

My all-time favorite game is baldur's gate 2. It was huge (250 hrs playtime) and you could do all you want. The story was great (lots of plot-twists and npc talking to u) and you could play exacly as you wanted (evil/good). There were weapons you could gather and put together. It was epic and even if its 4/3 yrs old i still sometimes play it. The game I mostly look forwards to is : Dragonage
