Music Genome Project Discover more music that you may like
ago replied to FLaKes's topic in General Discussion
This is a very good site (and project, altough I didn't hear of it). It came quite good as I just ran out of music to listen to and did not know what to do.Of course it has some glitches (putting in Mike Oldfield gave me some techno tracks too), but it's a wonderful tool. Two thumbs up! -
Second Languages If you can only speak a certain language
ago replied to Nani Cheri's topic in General Discussion
Learning an arabic language seems a nice idea too. Or Indian. Anyway, I plan to travel a lot, to countries with radically different culture than mine and would want to communicate with the people and learn about their vision. From this point of view Indian (as the language spoken in India - is that correct?) would be my choice. But I think I will stick to German -
Second Languages If you can only speak a certain language

I don't know but it attracts me. Maybe because Hungarian has too much "rhythm" and Romanian is too "melodic". And English lacks the salt and pepper. The harshness of the German seems something nice for my ears. -
Girls And Tricky Situations girls and tricky situations
ago replied to sonycdr's topic in Dating And Relationships
hehe, how different are you Americans (I presume) from us Europeans :rolleyes:I would recommend that you spend a lot of time with the girl, mostly communicating. Take her to new places, teach her stuff, spend time, talk talk talk.If it works out, she will be convinced and most importantly - YOU will be convinced that this relationship is good and will survive. -
Intelligent Design Vs. Evolution which should be taught in schools?
ago replied to semeticsister's topic in The Vent
Sorry, but if we put so much energy into deciding that Intelligent Design and/or Evolution is science and that is should be teached or not, we are letting ourselfs into accepting some serious presuppositions - what should be teached, what is science, was there ever an immanent God or can a biological creature (an "animal") make an ontological mutation so that it BECOMES another animal? If you ask me, I consider that evolution is part of the intelligent design. Given a set of elements (given in the sense of intelligent design), they are let to evolve in an expected way. "Let to evolve" and "expected way" may seem somewhat contradictory, but they aren't. It dependes on our vision of evolution and our vision of predestination. We have to accept that our actions are influented (even determined) by exterior factors - and still we are free (ar we?) to do what we want. Somewhat the same is the situation with the contradiction. Anyway, to answer the original question, either all the alternatives should be taught, or none. -

Second Languages If you can only speak a certain language
ago replied to Nani Cheri's topic in General Discussion
Well my native language is Hungarian and my second is Romanian. Because I live in Romania but I am a Hungarian :)My third language, which I learned from the time I was 4 or 5 years old is English. I have a beginner's level in French and German (learned French 6 years in school and German 2 years with tutor).I am looking at the possibility of learning Russian or continuing my German, but don't really have the time the mood and the money. -
Well I enjoy photographing. And that's why I'm an art student Other things may include going to the university, filming, talking to my gf, reading philosophy, creative writing, cooking, listening to music, watching good movies, going to strange places (and my city has quite some), going with my gf without destination around the city and finding cool places, going to the Central Universitary Library (very big & quiet & civilized), going to a beer with friends, writing in my blog, working in the darkroom, dreaming, listening what others dreamed of, going into restricted areas (and then RUN!), participating to debates, moderating debates aaaand that's what I can think of now.I try to enjoy life

Hehe, first casette bought was a Best Of from Eagles. Yes I am such a classic I liked it because it had a red-and black cover and a big american highway on it. I listened to it a few times but didn't like it. It was my ABBA period But then I really started to like Eagles. Heck, I even got the tape HERE, right beside me.

I can't beleive what I am reading here! What do they teach you in school?1. The fleet attacked in pearl harbour was a military fleet. In Hiroshima and Nagasaki the victims were civilians.2. The USA guilty for war crimes for which it didn't pay.History is to be written by the victors. Amen.

Which Dslr/slr Camera I need a cheap but good one
ago replied to Becca's topic in General Discussion
(sorry I don't have edit button )The F55 isn't cheap because it's "bad". Or well - it depends how do you understand "bad". It has the same metering sistem as the F80 or F100. The same exposure programs. The same mount. The same electronics. But you won't get a pentaprism - which means small and dark viewfinder. You won't get a dampened mirror. You won't get DOF preview. And the whole thing is in a flimsy case which I recommend you don't drop. -
Which Dslr/slr Camera I need a cheap but good one
ago replied to Becca's topic in General Discussion
Nikon E55 doesn't exist. Maybe F55 :)What you want will cost you. And cost you big. And it isn't such a small decision. First - I would like to ask - why would you want a SLR?Second - you got to choose not between a machine or another but between systems. Nikon Canon Minolta Pentax et caetera. If you want to do some art photography, I even recommend buying an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II (with working lightmeter - or better a separate lightmeter for 100$ more). The Pentax wouldn't cost more than 150$ and the rest you can put away for film and processing or buy another lens. -
lables are a commodity. people have the urge to structure the world around them. what they see on surface - that they use to memorize a particular person. beleive me, it would be REALLY tireing if you had to consider everybody as an unique and complete individual. so to say, "one girlfriend/boyfriend is enough". and as you can't go deep inside everyone, only on certain aspects, for the rest you leave the label. don't get me wrong - of somebody sees you as a cutter and then changes the opinion - he changes the label.labels are "shortcuts to attitudes".they are psychologically normal.

About the Bible - I ask myself how many of you commenting on it have ever heard of the septuagint? "Mistakes" are not a matter of saying a word in place of another. Not even saying a whole paragraph in place of another. The mistakes and the lack of fundamental understanding of the Old Testament from the loss of the original old testament texts. They were written in the basic syntactical structures of the OLD hebrew language. One language - one undestanding of the world. Translation is NOT possible - and I tell you this as a quite qualified man in semiotics. But when the jews realized that they were forgetting the old hebrew, 72 wise men gathered and translated the bible to old greek. That was the septuagint. The main thing is to understand that it-is-not-the-same. It may contain the same words, but the DEEP meaning is lost. It still can be used as moral guidance, but the real meaning of the words of Adonai (the term Yahve meaning God was only used in the new testament), the so to speak metaphysical content was lost. (They are some who seek it, founding science of hermeneutics, but there is a long way. Too long.) So I wouldn't say we should make a debate on the old testament - manily that even the Catholic church uses it ONLY as moral guidance. About the new testament - there is something fishy going on ( - that was actually funny, the fish being the symbol of christians in the Roman era). Jesus Christ is an avatar of God. A profet, so to speak. But in other religions - in almost ALL the religions which have at least transcendent God - there is also an avatar, resembling Jesus very closely. Mohhamed for Allah for example. And if we are already here, we can see a lot of concordances between the greek mythology, the norse mythology and the old testament. One truth exists. Does it worth searching for? I cannot reply but with a quote from the Majjhimanikaya (I,426): Reply to Thorned Rose on the subject of meditation >> Yes, Mosques, Synagogues, Temples would be nice - if they were. Here I have only a Catholic cathedral (in which nobody goes...) and Orthodox basilicas. And I don't like to go there because you have no means to sit down. I mean I would sit on the ground, but because of the people going there on masses all stand on foot, the carpets are dirty and smell bad. Parks, Beaches, Libraries are not good, I prefer to be alone. And not even a walk in the forest doesn't suit me. But this is how I am Religion isn't a must, I agree - but don't you think that all manifestation of man with relation to God is "religion"? Religion doesn't have to be organised (and this is what I think you ment) and I totally agree with you. To be a good man or not? There are many directions one can follow. Ethics. My favourite branch of philosophy The Christian ethics are just one. It's kind of funny that the teachings in this direction differ between the old and new testament Personally - in a question of ethics I go with Nietzsche's opinion. (NO, he was not an atheist). (Animals have souls? )

Well breaking up sucks. When I broke up with my ex, I was down and lonely for a month or so. And it was a splendid summer! Damn I hate her for this The current situation is much more complicated than a simple breakup. First, she broke up with her boyfriend to be with me. He was a weak man - as in no will, no opinions (don't understand this as something negative, I consider my character, having "too much will" and too dominant a bigger flaw) - and that wasn't what the girl was NEEDING. She needed somebody like me and I needed somebody like her. We communicate like something out of this world and resolve every fight, every misunderstandint (and we had lots). But problems came. After he broke up with him - she freaked out and went back to him. And never wanted to see me again. And neither did I. But we had too strong bonds, even after TWO MONTHS (she was with her bf for 2 years and 1/2) of dating. So, after a week of she breaking up with me we started to talk and stuff and she again cheated on him. And the main thing was that this wasn't the sexual cheating. Sex was the cherry on top, when we both felt we love eachother. So she broke up with him again. And after two weeks she came to me and said she was ready for a relationship. I was surprised, wanting to give her the time she needed (learning from past mistake). Ok, so we were together again, enjoying life. But things gone bad - again. She left me and got drunk and sent him a message that she loves him and want to be with him. I really respect him cuz he didn't answer and didn't take it serious. I was going to leave her forever, not talk to her again in my life. And she wanted to be with him too... but destiny has a loooong hand and we got again to talking phase, working together phase, sex phase and so on.But she feels "plain". And doesn't want a relationship. And keeps contact with him, talking daily and hanging out like once in two weeks. I really don't know if this is right and if she continues this will she ever be ready for a new relationship.Well this is my experience. And I would like an opinion about this last thing concerning "is this right for the future?". I really love her.

Aw that was really cute :)I remember my first kiss from kindergarten. Ok, it wasn't that "real kiss", but was a nice start. A long pause followed, until the 9th grade when I had my first delightful, real kiss. I was walking with a classmate on the streets of a romanian city on a freezy day and saw a couple kissing in front of us. We had feeling for eachother for long but we didn't want to get into a relationship (quite mature thinking if I look back). But when we saw the couple, I looked at her, she at me and we kissed. It was fantastic. If we are here, let me tell you my best kiss ever. In fact the best two kisses - on the romantic side and on the passionate side. I think they are in tone with the topic because they count as "first" in some way. The first time I've experienced some superbe things. Both were with the girl with whom I am now. Yes, she had a boyfriend when I met her, yes she cheated on him with me, yes they broke apart and yes she is with me now. Yes, I am a bad man. But let me tell you about the kisses. The most romantic kiss (and if I think - the first romantic kiss, in the full sense of the word). We were returning from an exhibition. The weather was gloomy, small raindrops fell. The sky was dark but the light was fantastic - coming from everywhere in a blueish-greenish tone. Anyway, we went home through the old city center (here in Bucharest). And I saw a small entrance in a big building. And I said - let's check it out. Inside it was an internal garden (dunno how it is called). Concrete tiles on the ground, the building around the "garden", maybe five stories high and dark grey. Old rusty windows with old curtains, light coming out from some. And we looked up - and there were hundreds of ravens flying above our heads. And "singing". And they flew like arrows and flew in circles and gathered in groups in front of the dark grey canopy of the clouds. And we looked mesmerised like 10 minutes, rain falling on our faces. And then we turned to eachother and kissed. Fantastic.the following to be read only by 18+ :)The best passionate kiss (and the first when I felt really connected to her - sort of a high) was once when we should have learned anatomy for an upcoming exam. But we didn't. We started kissing and caressing and fondling. And at a moment she was at the ground, sitting with her back to me and me - on the bed. I had one hand in her jeans (or better say - between her legs). My other arm was around her head, covering her like a circle. She said afterwards that the music (Cinematic Orchestra if I recall correctly) sounded very cool and distant with me covering her ears. And we kissed. And kissed. And kissed for hours. And we were high and felt really connected. Fantastic

I have a Nokia 6610i and had a Siemens A50.The A50 was a superbe phone - dropped three times in the bathtub, dropped it from second floor (fell on concrete), thrown it like 30 meters, spilled some vodka in it (took 2 days to work again), dropped from a care moving around 80km/h (55mph?). And it survived. Not one day in service. Fabulous phone. Stayed with me almost 4 years. The 6610i is cool. No need for radio or camera, but nice to know them there. Games suck but I don't play anyways. For talking it is GREAT. It holds me like 5 hours (3 hours specified) and like 7 days with 10-15 minutes talk a day. It really seems to be on steroids - phones usually perform worse than on the spec sheet.Nothing intense happened to it (yet), only that I once talked one hour straight in the pouring rain. My gf was at the 2nd floor window, freezing to death and I was at the sidewalk, soaking wet. The phone was dripping too. Romantic, eh?

Not all are wrong, fffanatics, look at my point of view. It's the attitude that "gets the points" and not the clothes. As always, "not clothes make a man" applies here too. I wear designer clothes sometimes, I enjoy that I look good in them but I don't make a big fuss of it. Important is that I feel good in them. For me it's worth the money if I can't find something better. Most surprisingly, I have shirts of 10$ and shirts of 50$ and in both I feel great. Sometimes it is worth it if you give another buck. But don't be proud of it. Just feel good. If you exagerate, you're a prep.

The Elder Scrolls Iv Oblivion Release Dates (official ship date released)
ago replied to Chez's topic in Computer Gaming
The only thing I am concerned about is the feeling. Morrowind had that superbe feeling of YOU being THERE. It had a whole world, full of life and mystery and books and intrigues and I wouldn't want that to disappear. When I've seen the astonashing graphics of TES4 I was sad - what if they concentrated all their potential on that? Those who are old enough from here (jeez, I sound like grandpa) probably know that they don't make games like they used to. TES3 was like remembering the old days and was the last game I played from start till end. I hope TES4 will be like that too -
it's not about how they dress or what they do, but the attitude that gets me want to climb on the walls. these are people that literally have NOTHING to do but to get on other people's heads. they don't have a direction and freak out, panic and get to the superficial side of the life.when I find somebody like this, I ignore them. but when it picks me out to "listen" to him or her (in fact they want to be listened to), my bloodsugar rises, I get mad and say something they should think about. I really try to help with this, to light a little lightbulb there in their heads - "hello, wake up, there must be another way!"what could I tell you more... an example perhaps? in my group at the university there is a girl. and she's from the country. and she's not like dumb or anything but she wants to make us beleive that she is a classy cosmopolitan smart sex-bomb, desired by any man alive. and she shouts all the time about how good she is, about her opinions - opinions what she can't defend in front of a single question and so on...

I say that there is faith and religion. Faith is what we feel inside, what we beleive in, and religion is something that eases this path. I am a Catholic, but don't do the catholic rituals and don't go to church to hear sermons. I eventually go to church because it has a peaceful feeling and helps loosen you up. Help you talk to God in quiet. And if you feel you need to take a break then you can just walk around and look at the murals, the stained glass (is that how it is called?), the rich mosaic on the ground, the statues of the saints, the stuccos on the wall, the altar and many many more. It is a place where you can go when you feel alone. And it makes me sad that people forget this. What I beleive in? Well, I beleive in God. God as God, something that created this world, is this world and is something more. This perspective is called panentheism and you can find more about it at this link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panentheism I love learning about all kinds of religions. Maybe I have the urge to "put together" a religion on my own, something I can follow. Maybe it is a passion, like photography. Besides I like to read philosophy and I think it helps develop a "sense of world", a better understanding of how the things surround us connect to us.
