  1. My favorite version of the more traditional tetris would have to be tetrinet because it allowed for so many people to play against each other and I always think that a good game that can incorportate multiplayers proper just gets exponentially better. But if u could all games that have the word tetris in it I would most definately have to say that my favorite would be Tetris Attack because to me it is the best mix of puzzle, simple reflexes, and action. Once to get to idea of how to do chains (the blocks falling into place so they clear immediately one after another) then the game gets really exciting and I just could stop playing, trying to improve myself. I think the game is about 11 years old now and I still play it all the time!
  2. I know I already replyed to this but now I feel that there is something new that I really find is important now, which really applies only the mmorpgs but it is the server stability and communication between the server moderaters and their customers. I mainly bring this up because lately (like the past months) for World of Warcraft, the servers have been very very lagging making the game very frustrating at times and also not only do they have more frequent unannounced server down times without a clear reason, but even the scheduled maintanence down times are getting extended often without reason as well... often giving a new estimated time that is again extended when that time actually comes. If the game was running the way it should, I would love this game so much more, but instead of the game being a good place to relax after a long day, it often just makes the rest of my day feel longer with frustrating waits and queues to get into the server and then a lot of lag often making certain aspect of the game impossible to play.
  3. This is really awesome news to me because I have wanting to use a mac for a long time now because I have never own one in the past but I didn't like how I wouldn't be able to use a mac I buy for gaming because I'd say about half of the use on my computer i usually for gaming and honestly mac gaming is just weak. Now I can use OSX for all my school/work related things and can still switch to windows when I want to get in a little gaming of whatever pc game I'm currently playing. Now I just need to choose what kind of mac i want to get! yay, thinking of the mac mini's because they are cheaper or just get an ibook to replace my current laptop.
  4. I'm using an iiyama prolite 3431s which is a 17" LCD monitor. At the time when I first bought the monitor I really wanted to have one that of course would be able to played games reasonably so I wanted it to at least to have a 16ms responce time or less and also I wanted it to be able to take DVI input because of the improved clarity. I think LCDs at the time were quite a bit more expensive than now, maybe by about 100 dollars and I didn't have that much money so this was the cheapest one I could find that fit the bill and also has some good reviews. What really made this monitor a sweet deal was because of the problems this monitor ended up having, which i know sounds weird. But eventually, maybe about 6months to a year after I bought the monitor it was starting to have issues with weird vertical lines showing on the monitor and then eventually it just totally just gave out and it wouldn't display anything on it anymore. So i called the iiyama tech support and they honestly didn't seem to ask nearly as many questions about the problems as I thought that the would and they told me where I should ship the monitor to (their repair center). I made sure I got the deliver confirmation and even after 2 weeks after the USPS said they got it, the customer service at iiyama said that it has not been reported as being received, so basically for a little over a month I was out of a monitor for the only computer that I had so it was getting really annoying and I would email the customer service people close to twice a week trying to get an update and after a little over a month later I got it back and it worked except for when I played video files there were some lines that looked like kind of like interlacing problems, but they were there with all videos, and because I wasn't really thinking and just automatically thought it must be that the monitor wasnt fixed that I emailed them back and told them that the monitor was still bad and I expected them to send me a new one soon. I guess I just got them so frustrated that they did exactly that and I now have two of the monitors because they never told me to send the other one back. By the time i got the second one, i realized that it was just a drivers/codec issue that I had haha and the monitor in fact did work just fine. So I had a dual 17in setup for a while and it totally rocked! Awesome being able to watch videos when surfing the net and the desktop backgrounds that stretched across both screens were always impressive, but I eventually just gave one of them to my parents because they were still using a 17in CRT.Now I want to get a widescreen monitor at least 20in, price vs performance I think the dell 2005fps still seems like the best deal, so I just need to save up some more to get another awesome monitor setup!
  5. I also use AVG because it was pretty much the first free Anti-virus that i came across a while back and it has seemed to do it's job pretty well with the regular updates and catching almost all viruses etc. (a think on a few occassions I still got one) With programs like these, if it works then I just don't really bother to look for a different one to use, that would just create more work having to relearn how to use a program that essentially does the same thing as the last program... probably why I never wanted to use windows 3.1 way back when because I was totally comfortable with DOS even if windows was easier to use on some levels.
  6. Sorry if this has already been asked but I couldn't find anything on it. I basically have a pretty decent gaming machine which the essencials consist of my Athlon 64 3000+ (754 socket), 1 GB (2x512) ram, and a 6800 Non-ultra. The thing is though, the AMD X2s are really looking attractive now, probably getting the 3800+ X2 because it seems to be the most affordable right now. FRom what I understand though is that the two cores are not actually clocked individually to the level that a single core 3800 would be clocked. Does this mean that when playing a game (that isn't multithreaded) that the performance may not even improve at all over my 3000? I like the idea of having an X2 because I also do some video editting and it would be awesome if i could render some videos while gaming or at the very least run my antivirus and game at the same time. This is going to be a big upgrade for me if I do do this because of my older socket and my video card is also AGP, so I would have to get a new motherboard and possibly a new PCI-express video card. So basically my question is if anyone has done a similar upgrade from a processor that was already decent and whether you thought it was worth the 300 or so dollars that it cost to do so.
  7. I like AMD over Intel for a number of reason, one of the main reasons is simply that you get more for the money that you pay and both are typically stable processor to buy. I currently have an Athlon 64 3000+ which I am very happy with and had no problems with, I also used to have a few Athlon XPs (2500 and 2800) and also a couple of durons (1.3 and 1.6) which all were great. I am not looking forward to getting an Althon X2 over a Pentium D because once again the price differences for similar performance and also the general concensus is that AMD is better for gaming which is one of the major reasons why I continue to upgrade my processor.
  8. I agree that GC has more kid-like games and games that appeal to more women as well. But I really think that multiplayer is so much better on the GC. I only have a PS2 right now, but I am seriously considering getting the GC just for the abundance of multiplayer games that are available on the system like mario party, mario kart, ... well the many multiplayer mario games. Because even though I have the multitap for PS2 there just doesn't seem to be enough of selection from the PS2 for games that 4 people, guys and gals, can play together. I can only think of Super Monkey Ball and Gauntlet for my PS2 and of course the array of sports games that all systems have.
  9. Regular RPG's to me focus largely on the story and as a result, for those types of games I think a huge part of the reason I like or dislike a RPG is because of the story. But also a very huge factor is the graphics, which I don't mean simply like how many polygons are on the screen or the antialiasing (although both can really help), but I think that character design is extremely important because in a way it is what really supports the story a lot. With bad character design, the people don't match the story or their personalities and then it weakens the story and the connection that I think you should be getting when you play a game like an RPG.When it comes to MMORPGs I think that the focus of the game compared to RPGs has shifted a lot from the story base which I guess MMOs original from. But even though I would really love to have a MMORPG with a great story and character development etc, I think the way that MMORPGs are setup and just the nature of the type of game does not really allow too much room for this. I think what makes a good MMORPG for me is once again the graphics being very important because it can really create or change the mood of the environment and the experience while playing, but more importantly I think it needs to be a game where just doing the tasks or quests is simply just fun to do and not frustrating. PVP also I think has a large importance for MMORPGs because the whole idea of MMOs is to have many players and I think that PVP is a large aspect that allows the players to interact in a very different way compared to just the normal chatting and partying. But I think they should be used in a way where it is easy to play either way without too much trouble. Like I enjoy the occassional PVP in WoW but in Guild Wars I never play PVP because it seems so dettached from the regular game that I don't feel like making the transition and ultimately I lost interest in the game after I reached the highest level because there wasn't a whole lot else to do. And of course the other big factor in MMOs is that they need to have changes, additional quests and items that are added occassionally to keep the interest of the players. I always enjoy the season events that both WoW and Guild Wars has, even if the items that they often introduce are relatively useless.
  10. Well according to geek.com Sony has announced that they will be releasing 8 blue-ray dvds on May 23rd... although not clearly stated I would assume that they would be releasing or at least have someone else release a blue-ray disc player around the same time as well. Otherwise I would imagine that the blue-ray movie sales would be... well minimal haha. The new movies are supposed to be about 15-20 percent more expensive than DVD... which seems reasonable for movies that I might not already own. I don't think I would rebuy the same movie just for the higher resolution unless it was really one of my favorite movies of all time... but maybe not even then if it's an old movie. I don't see why they want to release old movies like terminator 2 on blue-ray, because I don't even think that the original film would allow for much improvement over DVD. As long as the players themselves are reasonably priced I might consider it. I would consider reasonable under 100 dollars though. Then I would have an excuse to get a HDTV
  11. I am not entirely sure, but I think if you have Windows XP SP2 that it should be able to detect it automatically because that's what I have and I have never had to install any drivers for my SATA drive, although it is a little difficult to install windows on the sata for me because even if I install it i think the mbr is still directing my comp to start up using my IDE drive which doesn't have windows on it. So i have to install windows with my IDE unplugged or else I need to run the windows repair and using fixmbr and fixboot with the IDE drive unplugged.
  12. Well I don't particularly care for Ipods either because I feel that they have way more features than what I would ever need or want to use, but I still end up paying for it. But I know a number of people that had Creative Zen's and they broke after a drop or two... they would turn on but would not be able to read anything from the memory. I personally used to have a Nike Rio 32 mb hehe when mp3's were a little newer. I now just use a Sony Minidisc player that can hold 1 GB of data and convert mp3's to the atrac (what minidisc players use) and I find that it is pretty much everything I need in a mp3 player or music player in general I guess because it stores a lot of music (i still haven't filled an entire minidisc yet) and the size is reasonable (the reason why I no long want to get a CD player or CD MP3 player). Only bad thing I can think of about my minidisc player is the fact that the LCD screen isn't backlit so when I use it at night it can be hard to read it if for some reason I need to.
  13. What does that have to do with SLi? Are to referring to intel integrated graphic chips? heh cuz I don't see how you could ever prefer that over any half decent nvidia or ATI card... and I don't think there are any mobos that have two integrated GPUs on it.
  14. I just started playing Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst because they have a two week trial period that you don't have to pay the 9 dollars every 28 days (why not just give us the month?). It seems an alright game so far. The graphics look pretty dated now though. I have guild wars and WoW already but I stopped my WoW account because I didn't think that the amount of time I played was worth the 15 dollars a month. Anyone else play Phantasy Star Online BB and have some sort of opinion about it and how it may compare to games like guild wars, WoW, or FFXI which is the other game that I am considering playing excpect it looks very involving to play. And I don't want to have to spend the first 3 hours just learning how the game works.
  15. This is my main comp: It's kind of sad because I used to have an athlon xp 2800+ and i got the 64bit chip because I was hoping it would last me because of the 64bit so that I would be able to get like Vista in 64bit, but now that there's Athlon64 X2's I really want to upgrade again to get an X2 even though my current chip works just fine for most of the things that i do (mostly gaming, word processing, a little of photo and video editting). It's just that have two processor cores just seems to totally awesome.
  16. I already have a different site for my adsense account, but I thought that maybe having it on my xanga too might boost my clicks a little. Does anyone know if it against adsense or xanga rules to put the adsense ads on xangas (they seem to put their own google ad there anyway)? Also if it is okay does anyone know how it might be done because I'm not too sure where I would put the code because I don't think you can edit the xanga websites in its entirely like you would normally be able to change anything on a website.
  17. Well actually I believe it has now been announced that it will be reased for the PC, you can see a little more about it at probably most gaming news websites, but at the same time they said it was going to be a Windows Vista exclusive.I believe the reasoning for this was said that they determined the game would perform the best on that platform. But of course my first thought was that they are doing this in hopes that it may help them sell a few more copies of Windows Vista because for a lot of people there won't be a huge reason to upgrade from Windows XP. There reasoning seems a little rediculous to me because I have tried a few betas of Vista and really with all of the effects, etc. I don't see how there could be some substantial difference in gaming performance, especially for an Xbox port which was done perfectly fine for other games, particularly Halo 1 and others by them like Sportrally. I would really think that they would loose a lot of Halo 2 sales by making it an exclusive game only for Vista. I mean the OS hasn't even been released yet so even if every gamer that gets vista also gets halo2 when they both come out, I'm sure there will still be millions of PC gamers out there that don't want to pay for Vista but would have bought Halo2 if it would run on older versions of windows.I personally was looking forward to playing Halo 2 because I don't have or want to get an Xbox, but I definately won't buy Vista just for Halo2. Hopefully the game will be hackable or what not enough so that it can be played on older versions of windows.
  18. I have had a 6800 non-ultra for a while now and if I had to do it again I probably would have gotten a 6600GT instead because I think it was quite a bit cheaper, and the performance was pretty close. (Although at the time I got my card I think the 6800 non-ultra was the cheapest AGP card of the 6 series and I didn't know that the AGP 6600GT would be getting release later). Also this time around ( I used to have a geforce Ti 4400 which served me very well) I am a little disappointed in Nvidia because I also have an Nforce 3 mobo and the weirdest thing is that it the Nforce3 boards have a known issue with the geforce 6 series cards. So basically even if the settings are down and I get high FPS, it was stutter on occasion, which is really annoying. Also the Guild War texture problem with newer drivers is also a disappointment. I almost feel like making my next card an ATI card... we shall see.
  19. Yeah I was thinking about doing this too because I had wanted to have a GPS in my car, and also I think a big reason for doing this is just for the cool factor of it or geeky factor of it haha. I used to know this website that had a lot of information about it... sorry I can't remember what it was, but yeah a lot of people have already done it and there are even things you can buy that will start up and shut down the computer whenever the car gets turned on and off. If you still want to do it and want to find a way to get the computer parts cheap I would suggest maybe looking at ebay and buying a used laptop with a broken screen because as long as the computer still works you really wont need the laptop screen anyway because you would have the laptop hidden somewhere and have a separate screen placed somewhere on the dash.
  20. Well yeah the SLi lets you link two cards together.... honestly I didn't know that there were geforces 7200 that were out because the 7300 GS seem to be the "budget" card for the 7 series and if you meant 6200, I'm not even sure the 6200 comes in PCI Express (SLi is only for PCI Express cards). But the performance advantage of getting a SLi rig setup may not be as good as it seems. If you look at the benchmarks, it isn't like have two cards is going to double the performance. To me the improvements do not justify the increased cost of having to purchase two video cards. The best use of having SLi in my opinion is so that maybe in the future when you think your SLi capable video card is a little on the slow side you can purchase a similar card (I don't think they have to be entirely identical, but probably from the same line of video cards would be best, like if you original card was a 7800 GT, u would want the second card to also be a 7800GT) so that by the time you buy the second card it will be quite a bit cheaper than when you originally bought it and you get the performance increase without having to pay for an entirely new, much more expensive card.As far as the AMD thing, you could probably google it and get a better answer than what I have to say because I honestly don't know that much. But basically if you have like an AMD althon 64 2800+ cpu and compare it to an identical machine with an Intel Pentium 4 2.8, with game the AMD chip will almost always outperform in games. But I really think that the difference is minimal and probably other factors would matter more when you decide to choose a cpu such as the cost for the performance, which AMD actually is better for the most part.Just as a note ATI also has a similar technology to SLi that's called the crossfire I believe, I'm not sure if one functions better than the other, but the idea is the same with using more than one video card in a rig to improve the performance by spreading the work load between the two cards.
  21. I used to think that this game was kind of stupid, but then my sister started playing and I just felt like I had to be better at it than her so I started playing too haha. It really is a great game to just waste away some time if you have nothing else to do especially since it is pretty much on any windows computer. I remember, I think it was in windows 98 that the high scores were just stored in a txt file somewhere so I would just go and edit it to say that I had a really good score. Yes, that is the extent of my hacking abilities and knowledge if that can really even be considered that at all hehe.

    Warcraft 3

I played WoW too, but had to quit because I did't have the time.... there seem to be a lot of posts that just say the game is great, but how true that is haha. I had a level 25 hunter Orc. Fun stuff, just starting getting into battlegrounds. I think it's pretty cool how good the game looks even if your computer isn't so good you can still run the game relatively well with enough ram (kind of a contrary remark?).
  23. I don't think that there is any PC version that is similar to the arcade. There are Initial D PC games out there though... but they seem to be pretty bad (produced and everything by different people, not sega). I have the PS2 version of the arcade game. I think it is based off of the second version of the arcade game. It's a lot of fun but still not like the arcade even when I use my PS2 steering wheel. (Unfortunately it's the older one by logitech that looks like the one that came with GT3, not the GT4 one with a larger turning radius). That would be awesome though if they released a PC version of it with online play. Does anyone else know if there is such a thing or if there is another version of the arcade game coming to PS2?
  24. I haven't been playing all that long so my main character is a level 25 hunter orc but I had to stop and freeze my account because I couldn't devote enough time to it once I started school again so I didn't feel like it would have been worth paying the same amount of money for so little time spent playing the game. I really wish they had a reasonable pay per hour system or something, I think that would entice a lot of people like me to not just stop playing entirely.
  25. Yeah unfortunately you do HAVE to play the game online, otherwise it really wouldn't be a MMORPG at all and really about 95 percent of the reasons I would play a MMORPG is for the ability to play with so many other real players as opposed to just played with a bunch of NPCs.
