http://trackzapper.com/ has free Trial donwloads with good anti spyware software. I personaly have use things like of brand ones and they dont help. You have to do research about it and test things out.

I just use Netscape composer. Its really simple and im kindy lazy so it works out and i learned some of the stuff i ues in school

I use Cable. And my other friends use DSL and when i went over his house it seemed about the same but I thouht cable was a little faster. But its your choose on key factors the you want your internet to have capiblities to use.
