1. However, I wouldn't worry about not getting honorable mention. You shouldn't be considered an "average dumb person" just because of that. What you should do is not put so much pressure on yourself, and don't worry about what other people think of you. I used to worry about that stuff, but it never did me any good. Just relax and don't worry about it.

Gosh, you're so right, Hamtaro. Especially in scientific directions, grades hardly mean anything. You simply can't assess anyone's originality this way.

Juzst be yourself, and THINK, I'd say. The most beautiful reward is to enjoy this wonderful gift that is thinking. The ugliest is to compare yourself with others.

    Cheers, all

  2. Seriously, the way its said on TV, you'd think that the biggest sibling has the suckiest life, while the youngest get's all the atention.

    NO.

I mean, when you're the youngest, like me, you get blamed for everything. I swear, EVERYTHING.

And then when you're really young, you have to go fetch everything for everyone ... Get this, get that, pick that up, etc ...

    Its so ANNOYING!

Lol, you've got a hard time asserting yourself, don't you? Don't we all, on second thought? No sweat, chum, you're still on the winning side.

Used to be the youngest among four and stayed so for the rest of my life. Tell you what? All you say is true, but it's a real gift you'll come to appreciate at some point in time. You can't believe the number of times I could easily overcome mindless bullyings of idiots simply out my experience of being the youngest. They do you a big favor, tell ya.

    Cheers, all!

  3. I have a burning question, Has anyone dumped someone only to realize that it was a mistake. I ended a relationship about six months ago, and after three months, I started to miss my ex-girlfriend. At first i felt like she was the one who wanted to break up, so trying to protect myself, i did the dumping. It wasn't so hard, cause i felt I came out unscathed...but after a few months, I realized that i was wrong. I was not going through that guilt period that many went through in a break up, I really I did some bad stuff pushing my ex-girlfriend away. We haven't talked much, but I received an email today saying that I am loved, however, things are over. But I dont want it to be over. ;)
Has anything like this happened to anyone...whats your story. I am not depressed, nor desperate...I have moved on. I accept my loses, but just curious to hear other stories.

Yeah, I did several times, including the time I repudiated my children's mother out of contempt for her behaviour, and divorced.

I didn't care much then and I've never come since to regret it. Contempt has remained whole. But it's not your situation, right?

Now, I've left another woman about the way you did, just before she decided to do the same the other way around. It's good for one's ego, but not for the truth of relationships. Time's the sole Healer, I guess.

    Dunno, friend,

    Cheers, all!

  4. Now, don't hate me for this...but um your post is rather dramatic, and i do think you might be lying. Maybe, its because Im a guy and so i dont really understand how girls communiticate, but your whole post is rather... well like i said dramatic.
    ...
Now the lunch thing, it may seem very stupid for her to get pissed off about you taking something so small off her plate, but the fact is, its HERS. Not yours. Its a violation, true some people wouldnt care, but some people do and you shouldn't touch other people's things regardless of how big or small it is. Its rude.

    ...

Well, well JasperIk you are just writing words of wisdom, and I lean in your direction. Now, don't forget we're talking about teenagers adjusting to each others, or at least trying to. Clumsily so, if anything else.

I dunno what to add, except that I have never seen anybody either wholly white or totally black in this life. I guess the story here is only the learning of what it takes to become an adult in our societies : respect the person in front of you, instead of stomping his/her toes, even when you think you can get away from it fast and possibly clean.

    Cheers, all!

  5. Okay i have known this boy named johnathon for a long time and he likes my friend veronica but she doesnt like him. About 6 other of my friends went to the movies with johnathon and veronica. And then veronica told me about it and we just had this chatWhat do you think she should do?

Aw, this girl Veronica seems to be such a lovable young misleading lady! ;)

Veronica should tell the truth to Jonathon of course. But somehow, I've got a sneaky feelin' Veronica doesn't know the truth herself. Not uncommon with courted girls at that, and I sympathise. The thing most difficult on earth is not to have a girl break up, but to have her make up her mind. And believe an old fox, it can take a handsome amount of time!

    Cheers, all.

The answer? Neither, according to a recent experiment at the University of Minnesota. The experiment answers an old debate between Isaac Newton and Christiaan Huygens. Newton said that the more viscous a liquid is, the slower an object's speed through it. Huygens said that viscosity doesn't matter. The explanation for this by those who did the experiment is that although there is more friction and drag through the syrup, you are able to apply more force to pull yourself through it than the water.

Say, I'd love to compete with a shapely young lady in a swimming pool full of syrup. I'd gladly let her win just for the the fun of seeing her get out of that mess... and take a hard look at her!

    Never thought of that!

    Cheers

  7. As for your dislike of Bush, he's a lame duck president, he can't run for election next term. So hopefully we'll get a President who does not have such a gift for angering most of the world running things next term. Hopefully the next one will sign the Kyoto Protocol on Global Warming, and make a few more changes to US policy.

By the way, oil prices in the US have gone up, not down because of the Iraq invasion. Every time anything bad happens in the Middle East, US oil prices go up. It's always been that way since we started importing oil from the Middle East, any halfway educated person in the US knows that. So the war was not to get oil cheaper from the Middle East. We all knew it would be more expensive if we invaded Iraq. But Bush is another topic entirely, so I don't want to get started on that.

    Hey there, folks.

I couldn't figure this debate would be so interesting right from start. I'm getting a high opinion about what's been written before I came into it.

Couldn't we all agree simply that WAR itself is a war crime? The one country that resorts to declaring war to another will eventually end up with its history tarnished, be they the victor or not. History written by the victor is apparently realistic, but bound to ultimate failure. Mankind has a way to turn a critical look upon their own history and today's contrived truth will be tomorrow's object of contempt.

Now, Earths Daughter, I quite appreciate your equanimity about the bushes. You should not forget however that *BLEEP* Cheney got an astounding US$ 38 million parachute (according to Michael Moore) from the company (a company having vested interest in re-building Iraq, right?) he left prior to becoming vice-president, and Condoleeza was a top executive in Chevron if I'm not misled. I hardly believe in miracles, sorry for that. Believe me, nothing will come up from expecting future betterments without our acting. Bad politicians are elected by bad (i.e. gullible) voters. Hope is to be found in good (i.e. realistic) voters to elect good presidents. It would be about time, I should say! Think of it next time you vote, all.

    Cheers!

Just after giving birth, a woman was transferred to a different hospital- which then took off her arms and legs. They refuse to tell her why, and say she'll have to sue them to get the answer. They say she had some weird disease, won't explain how she caught it. She cites a law that says they have to tell her, they don't because it would supposedly violate someone else's privacy.

Say, I have a friend here who went in the same process of having all four limbs amputated. Just came from a sinusitis which exploded into filling up his body to the rim with pneunococci within a few hours. It was kinda hard for the physicians to diagnose the darn thing right on time and gangrene developped within a few hours. Hence the amputations.

Well, folks, tell you what, it's a terrible thing to undergo, but the man sort of recovered. He's currently back on his feet and I've seen him eat and laugh at my table of late. There's no telling what a stout heart can do in this life.

I suspect the girl underwent some nasty infection while she was under scant medical care, and the hospital won't dare recognize it unless they're compelled to say it right under a judge's nose.

Yeah, right, buddies, shun the MD's, I say, as long as you can.

    Cheers !

  9. About the formal Spanish, It did bring me some problems because some people really do get offended if you dont talk to them formally.

    225938

Well, I guess it comes along with not willing to know (or ignoring) what other people feel about life, friend. Come to think of it, life has everything to do with formality, since the moment the mother's and father's genes combine to beget a new being.

Willy-nilly, everyone of us is confronted with formality. You wanna get a salary raise? You would put on a necktie to see your boss, or a girl would wear an enticing miniskirt to do the same (provided she thinks well about her legs). What's wrong with formality? It helps us a lot in simplifying existence. Formality is much shorter and more effective (and much, much less deceiving) than blah-blah or small *strumpetish" talk, right?

    Cheers, all

  10. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/11013519/?GT1=7538

Astronomers have found a new planet that they say is the smallest known planet not in our solar system. It's about 5.5 times bigger than Earth and its sun is about 1/5 the size of ours. It's also 28 000 light-years away. The article does not say whether they think that it could have any kind of life.

    224148

    Hey,

From what I caught, the surface temperature of this planet has been estimated to -200 Degrees Celsius, which is rather uncomfortable for any kind of life form to survive, especially ours.

    Cheers folks

  11. but why should we have to learn the languages of the other people that live in america when they are in america?

if i were to go to germany i would understand learning their language..but since wwe are in america and the origional language was english (in a very weird way)

    225844

    Hey Albus,

This is freak talk, no offence meant. Remember right after 9/11, when bush was asking people why did the US develop so much antagonism abroad? Ignoring other people's languages simply mean you ignore them, and contempt leads to hatred usually.

Just look at what you write : the US do not equate America, or am I mistaken? Canadians, Brazilians, Venezuelians, etc also are americans. In that simple respect, I'd suspect there are more people speaking Spanish than English in the whole of the Americas.

    Good day to all

  12. This guy was talking about asking out this girl named takira, who I really loathe. I said "Eww, you like takira? she's really stupid!" Apparently, this girl named Kara who sat behind me said to me "Oh my gawsh, that is so mean, you nasty little jew!"

Do you think I should tell someone or did I have it coming for what I said about Takira?

    Comments, please!

    Notice from BuffaloHELP:
    Title changed. Choose it carefully.

    222458

Hey! Strikes me that I can't figure out by reading your lines wether you told Takira that you "loathe" (a mighty word by all means) her before that thing happened.

Now, it's always bad to air out negative comments about somebody behind his/her back if you didn't make damn sure he/she knows how you feel towards him/her beforehand. You always lose in the process, because you get spotted and nailed down as a coward who stabs people in their back. Telling Takira your stuff might even bring you a good friend, who knows?

Now, why don't you get to see Takira and tell her what's on your stomach, or you simply forget to vent out any public comment about her and other people whom you "loathe". Being addressed as as Jew is a response to "loathing" somebody else, and is incidental, really. Life's too short to dwell on small talk, young lady, if you ask me.

    Cheers, all

    :)

  13. .... and up to 50 pre-built nuclear weapons from the USA [breach of the non-proliferation treaty!] gains access not only to instructions how to build nuclear weapons (you can find out how to do this in just about any university library) but also to all the materials necessary to do so.

Someone please call for sanctions against Germany at the UN Security Council.

    If necessary, boycott german products.

    223327

    Hey there, all,

Brainless, I am a bit confused as to what you write. As a Swiss, and a god neighbor to both Germany and Bavaria, I'm quite supportive of your views against anything that has any nuclear flavor to it. And that includes the nuclear plants that sprouted along the years in Switzerland against public protests.

Now, what I don't get is why it should be especially wrong for Germans to do the same as others around do shamelessly. Are you by any chance a victim of a self-whipping syndrom because of what occured during WWII? Not a chance to be right, friend. First, because the children are not responsible for the wrong done by their parents. Second, because present-days Germany is acting responsibly in most instances since 60 years.

And... third but not least, just because, the current oil situation (which by all means cannot be blamed even remotely upon German shoulders) makes nuclear energy an almost unavoidable economic alternative. At least an alternative to be cautiously pondered by any responsible states(wo)man. That girl of yours, Angela will have to meet these issues very, very soon, tell you.

Believe me, chum, I'd be more worried by what the various bushes of this world are up to by ignorance and/or malevolence. Ignorance especially is the most lethal weapon in this small world of ours, much more so than nukes. The very fact that you know how to get the info to make some nuclear device and refrain from even looking for it is the best insurance that you at least will not act stupidly. And there are many of your likeness crawling around, you know. What scares me most is the bushes are so few, yet so enduring. I'd bet their species will still be around when spontaneous nuclear decay has brought all artificial radioactivity to inocuity in an untold numbers of centuries. 2008 will not bring any relief to that concern, you mark my word.

I'd suggest that you invest heavily in teaching your children to act responsibly. There ain't any good politician without good voters to elect him or her these days. The battle for nuclear weapons containment is as good as lost today. Yet, there are so many bright people unspoken of that I'll keep faith to my last day these guys will try to do something constructive if they find a way to work together in a productive and creative way.

Cheers and chins up folks. Tomorrow's world is right here on Xisto.

    :)

  14. The Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have marked the anniversary of its destruction by the world's first atomic bomb 60 years ago.

Yes the bombing ended the war but many innocent civilian were killed so it is War Crime.

    173198

Well Kasm, I was born quite some time ago in a country not so far from yours which was at that time under jap occupation. Believe me, you would probably keep some grudges against them if you had only had this experience. Those on the spot knew down to the marrow of their bones that the criminal foolishness of the japanese high-command has to be shattered down to shambles if this war was to be ended at all. I'm sure that if you get to talk with elderly Aussies around you about that time they went through, they' ll say the same I do.

Now, I understand your point is about having double standards about the guilt of war crimes. I'm afraid I'm entirely in agreement with you even if I hardly share your views to stamp out Hiroshima and Nagasaki as war crimes. I still rue to think that Henry Kissinger has been responsible for purposedly sabotaging peace talks with the Vietnamese just before Nixon's re-election just for the sake of making Viętnam an argument for reelecting the president, and hence keep his job as State Secretary. The States now have the dubious privilege of harbouring a war criminal at large who could be indicted for more than 1 or 2 million deaths, roaming around with the hellish gal of the guy who can demand 50,000 bucks every time he spreads his nauseous vomit in public speeches.

Let's face it. It's uncommonly cheap to become a war criminal. Dear Henry, according to thorough investigations, could overthrow Chile's Allende for less than a million bucks. A bargain, so to speak. It makes the individual corpse very inexpensive, right?

This is life, simply, my friend. History is to be written by the victors, as a certain Adolf Hitler was prone to say. The best we can do is to never forget and see to it that we do not personally agree to do the same as they did. Because we're a deadly species, and most everyone of us could be brought to do the same, under the circumstances.

    Cheers to all, guys.

  15. Soon america isnt even gonna be an englsh speaking country and youll have to know 8 different languages to live here  :D      :)  :D  :)

    224244

Mmmhhh ... Wolf, you have got a point here. I should suggest the US turn really all-english speaking by converting the names of states and towns (like Minnesota, Nebraska, Hawa'i, Wichita, Omaha, Los Angeles, San Francisco and so forth...) to their english translation or equivalent  .

Now, I don't see why, following your requirements, the native americans could not petition the Congress for having the country revert to speaking their own languages. After all, there was a time (not so long ago, mind you) when this great country wasn't speaking a word of english, was it not? :D

Well, on the one hand, you're probably right in saying that some future day, the United States will rather be known as the Estados Unidos by most people within and without. On the other, I definitely fail to see the point of putting pressure on people to speak only one language. I live in a country where they speak a number of german dialects less than 40 miles from where I am, and there are still italian and rumantsch to be accounted for. Raises no basic problem to my knowledge to anybody and the political and social system runs seamlessly on this account.

Look here, friend. My mother tongue is french and I'm quite glad to be able to speak and write english and two or three additional languages. Did you notice by any chance the number of people in this forum who are seemingly in the same case? :) Well, I haven't heard of late anybody complaining 'bout having to write in english to communicate on this forum. Yet, since I'm french-speaking and in full command of my environment, I should be justified to demand everyone here to address me in french, shouldn't I if I were to follow your principle...

Don't get me wrong, though. I would comply to speak spanish in my own country without a qualm if only for the sake of communicating properly. It takes so little effort not to be a George W, you know... ;) . Besides, I could swear the english spoken and written stateside sometimes has got little to do with the so-called "accepted english". You might want to take a hard look at the transcripts of the President's addresses, and you figure it out for yourself.

    Cheers to all.

  16. i swear that i'm gonna duct tape my mother's mouth is she doesn't start listening to what i say. She always gives me crap for not listening to her, but really its the other way around. I get into trouble from her aLL The time because she never actually listens to EXACTLY what i say. she'll pretend she's listening and only catch a FEW of the details like... if i said i was going to wear a red and pink dress with black butterflies on it she would only catch that i was going to wear a dress. her listening to me saying what i'm gonna wear isn't realli important cuz i have a much better fashion sense then her anyways but when its important stuff she NEVER listens !! am i just being a *BLEEP* and its normal for parents to do this or is she just being rude? do ne of you guyz get that?

    209512

ribbons&pearls, you're a doll and I do mean it. I fathered two daugthers, and I've seen the same as you describe, repeatedly and from the other side of the fence. Never paid much attention when I was supposed to and, know what? the lassies love me and I love'em with all my heart.

Keep doing the good job of being yourself. Any parent worth speaking of will eventually melt down in front of a pig-headed young lady. But, shhhh! No parent worth speaking of will acknowledge it publicly.

    Cheers! :(

  17. I have no intentions of saying bad things but somehow words just come out of my mouth when I'm really stressed and frustrated.  Sometimes I just bite people's head off by retorting something that I know is offensive.  I get irritated easily when I have a lot in my mind like if I have tons of deadlines to meet or something.  :(

I rarely swear and I don't like it when I do (or when other people do).  I feel like part of the reason why people swear is because people around them swear, like if your friends use bad language in daily conversation it doesn't somehow seem bad anymore.  It becomes normal already.  Also people in the TV and the movies swear too so everyone gets influenced including children.    :(

    222125

    Hey guys!

For all of you who're not accustomed to reading oldtimers, I'd like to say that, 2,000 years back, the Roman Empire started falling when people accepted foul-mouthing language.

Now, I think it's not that much a matter of words. Rather a matter of discipline. Don't fool yourselves. Ugly words have been rampant for some time now and they are here to stay because ugly words mean ugly minds. There's hardly any point in saying it's somebody else's fault until you FEEL your mind is clear.

Folks, we're all alike in this predicament. Same level. Desperation. That leads to being foul-mouthed, out of frustration. Just say what you do and do what you say. Just TRY it, and you'll see it for yourselves : it requires NO bad language. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying it's a matter of survival. Anything difficult comes easy when it comes down to survive. Being foul-mouthed equates being politically correct these days, and many may know where this leads. Oblivion.

    Cheers! :D

  18. Oh boy, this'll certainly put George Dubya's knickers in a knot.

Look what he did in Iraq? and they only used Poison Gas on their own population.

    ...

Can someone Google to find out how much Oil production Iran has, please.

    220308

Well, jlhaslip, George W has got a slight problem with Iran that he didn't have with Iraq. You see, it so happens that Iran is China's main oil supplier at the nonce. What do you think they'll say out there when Big Texas pulls out his .45? They'll quietly tell him the Chinese have an urgent need to reconsider financing the US economy the way they did during these 10 past years. Chinese are usually very good at shooting where it hurts worst: wallet-side...

  19. lol, It can be a tough place to be.  Tell me somethin' bout yourself, if ya don't mind...where are you headin in life?  Like what's kinda, your ultimate purpose/mission/goal depending on what you call it?  I'm just curious...I'll be prayin' for ya hoping you find your answers!!

    220034

Hi ComeToLife, and a warm welcome to Xisto. Did you notice by any chance that there's a "trap" stated loud and clear in Xisto? :P

Now, I don't think I've noticed so many atheists on this site, but there are quite a lot of talks going on about religion for sure. Don't ask me why, I dunno :) .

Have a good time here and ... brace yourself and hold the fort, ComeToLife. They'll try to have you turn your sight toward the sky, right over there.

    Cheers!

  20. I've tried downloading the latest RealPlayer from http://www.real.com/de. The latest player, version 10.5, now must be purchased online before being allowed to be downloaded. However it stated that the free version of RealPlayer will become active if you decided to cancel the contract with Real Networks after the 14 day trial period. Hence, you have no choice but to key in your credit card number and personal details before you have access to the download. There are no other ways or alternatives to download RealPlayer for free now.

So I've searched Download.com for an older version of RealPlayer. But I didn't realise that the user of RealPlayer is required to sign in, just like Instant Messenger, to be able to play online media. However, I've tried streaming a video and RealPlayer directed me to the purchase website, preventing me from playing any media. Furthermore, it has full of advertisements and kept prompting me back to the purchase website. It somewhat resembles Kazaa which contains spyware.

Does anyone knows of an alternative to RealPlayer streaming function? I only know Real Alternative codecs that plays RealMedia files but it cannot stream online media. I gave up on using the original RealPlayer already.

    220167

Yeah, you're so right, both of you. Just the reason why I quit following up Real Player a year or two back.

Winamp is quite a treat in that respect, I agree. Now, if you really want to get something closer to the feeling you get with Real Player, you could decide to go downloading Real Alternative at :

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/real_alternative.htm.

It's Open Source to my knowledge, so it's free and they take extra care to get it up-to-date, technically speaking.

    Cheers

  21. Ok now, US forces attacked Afghanistan to 'capture' Bin Laden.

They attacked Irak for 'liberating the people'.

Why the **** they wanna attack Iran...

To me it's 100% clear this all is for power, control over Middle East, ancient treasures and oil.

It seems the US government is provoking a WWIII, because they keep threatening countries with invasions and Iran has told if they are attacked they will attack the most near western nation and biggest ally of the US, Israel.

Worst thing is that the US wants to NUKE Iran... A nuclear holocaust, gee reminds me of the time of Hitler.

The Bush administration gets more sinister every year as it seems.

    218192

Well, well, Horus, seems to me that the old saying : "My country right or wrong" has reached its limits, has it not? Just let me say that you've got to be an outsider to understand how unsettling it feels when you've got in front of you a bunch of sanctimonious, self-righteous american voters who will reach any unreasonable decision when they vote for a president. That happened back in 2004, and where are we now? The problem is not bush himself. It's that people tend to stick to the devil they know rather than to the sensible man they don't...

We may come to see more and more of the bush's likeness in the future, it's not difficult to predict, if the american voters stick to this pattern of obeying the orders of the guy who'll ultimately bring them to their doom, and swallow his contrived silly ideas about how the world should be. There's nothing sacred about a president. The only thing that matters is is he fit to do the job? Obviously, we could all use a sensible guy back in charge.

But, mark my word, there's quite a lot of his like heaping up behind his shoulders. We're not done with them, by all means. Gotta wait a bit before common sense is back in this country's politics.

    Cheers, buddies!

  22. So the spinning of the earth is slowing down and they need to extend the year by one second? This puts some credability to the statement... "Stop the world I want to get off!"  Maybe sooner or later we can actually do it, don't think I'll be around to see it though. :D

    215710

Nah, Avalon. Earth spin itself loses about 1 second every 1000 years or so. This one is a correction due to the fact that our master clocks are not totally synch'd with Earth's rotation, according to what I heard on the news.

Say, Happy New Year 2006, folks :D
