A that was one of mine! I am a huge fan of the late Douglas Adams Work. All my quotes are, infact quotesa from Douglas Adams. He was a funny inspirational writer, and the only person I have seen to even come close to matching his comedy writing skills is Terry Pratchett. Humans are not proud of their ancestors, and rarely invite them round to dinner. Douglas Adams In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. Douglas Adams There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. Douglas Adams There are two things in particular that it [the computer industry] failed to foresee: one was the coming of the Internet; the other was the fact that the century would end. Douglas Adams Well, those are my top four quotes, I had a fifth but It was already mentioned.

Im Irish, so I get a good vareity of shows to watch for all over the world. But mostly I watch cartoons, drama, anything historical or things like that (Like TimeTeam on Discovery) Sitcoms are good, "somtimes" I am not a fan of the recorded laughter, but I can watch a program with it. Extreme Sports are good, and finally, Sketch/skit shows, like The Fast Show, The League of Gentlemen and Monty Pythons Flying Circus are brilliant, I cant get enough of them. Here is a list of my top 10 programs, in no particualr order:1. Family Guy (Mature Cartoon)2. Invader Zim (Mature?. Cartoon)3. The League of Gentlemen (Sketch/Skit Show)4. The Fast Show (Sketch/Skit Show)5. My Wife and Kids (Sitcom)6. South Park (Mature Cartoon)7. The Simpsons (Cartoon)8. Daria (Mature Cartoon)9. One-Piece (Ainme/Manga)10. TimeTeam (Archeology/Documentary Program)What are all of your top 10?

Jesus, who comes up with these things? Why would anyone go to the bother of writing a virus, just to harm others computers? ANd how would you manage to get a virus into a powerpoint file anyway?

Brilliant! I was looking for some tutorials and examples, and I could not find any good ones that didn;t require some sort of payment or membership. Hey, are there any sites that hold resources/tutorials/examples for starting some sort of game engine (I know, I am getting ahead of myself) but I am just looking for some sort of open sourced 2d game engine, or even some tutorials on game engine making, so I can study the code. (Also, and Isometric one would be cool )

Heh, after seeing this topic and thinking about it, I realised I have liked every game I have ever played Hmm, a top five, thats gonna be hard... Tony Hawks Underground 2 (PC) Counterstrike Source (PC) Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War(PC) The entire orginal "The Sims" series(PC) Time Splitters 2 (PS2) And they are in no particualr order, because that would be even harder, and I would need some time to site and list the pros and cons of each game.

I had one of those ones that open, Its was huge! almost 2'x2'. I got it for christmans last year from my cousins who came back from japan. It had some secret prize on the inside, I had to line up each side and then put a key in the blue squares to unlock the door. I tried it for about five weeks, before I got angry, and paranoid about what was inside. I then figured out that there was a tutotrial in the manual showing how to open it from where it had been set to orginaly. SO I spent another week setting it back to its default starting place, and then got it open in about five minutes! There was a cool little dancing robot inside who said "Thank you for freeing me, I am ever grateful!" over and over. And he had loads of jelly beans in his head, and, I LOVE jelly beans! I dont know about the regualr ones having prizes, try to pull them apart, and see whats inside. Oh, and I now use the big rubix cube as a footstool. Well, thats the story of me and the rubix cube...maybe I will write a novel about it someday...

Msn Messenger 7.0 Final Its running very slow and laggy.
Cypher replied to Inspiron's topic in General Discussion
I have msn messenger 7.0, its the full version, but I have had it since the betas. Its not really all its cracked up to be, its just the same as the older version, with some aesthetic features that dont add much to the overall quality of it. And the winks...oh my god, has there ever been a more pointless invention? Its just a flash animation that gets sent to the other person, it has no use whatsoever, and I have actually seen winks use to cause a fake virus, it was a green blob on the screen, that divided into two blobs, and then into six, and on and on... and there is no was to close it until it finishes, and since its looping infinitively, it will never stop, until your screen is filled with little moving green dividing blobs..So I recommend not getttinf 7.0 until you can put it off any longer. -
Im pretty sure LOL means "Laugh Out Loud" Which is odd when people use it all the time, it rather looks like maniacal laughter, and that acutally makes me laugh out loud.Yeah, I also use lol, regretably, its a habit I desperately want to get out of. Some times I just say "Whoo hoo!" or " Hazaah!" and noone knows what I mean so I have to go back to plain, annoying old "lol" ... I wish everyone would just go get some danm spelling lessons and take a night course in grammar... (Argh! I did it again! The smiley equilivent of "lol"!!)

I dont truly understand this. Is the virus under the link "Click here to view it!" a fake virus, or is it real, and in all honesty, anyone who can turn a computer on, knows even the most basic about virii and virus traps. Who would click this link? Although...Im kinda tempted to click it, even though it might be a virus.. its so appealing.....

Adding Downloads Can my website support downloads?
Cypher replied to Cypher's topic in Web Hosting Support
Thanks for that, I was confused on the subject, and I didnt wanna put up a download and lose my account. Wow Becca, that must have been a very popular song, to lose all your bandwidth in a week. Do you still host the song? -
I have read through some of the main rules saying how you cant host downlaods, illegal downloads, links to warez, and all the crap nobody with any decency will touch anyway, and I was wondering about regular downloads. On my site, I planned on hosting some of the material I make, Short movies, Animations, Games, Music, thigns like that, am I allowed to host these? Each of my files would be, at max about seven to nine megabytes, This is really the main reason for wanting a site, to share all my stuff with other people, and get critisim from them on different aspects of my work. All of my stuff is freeware, and created by me, or people whose consent I have recieved to host their material (My friends in real life, etc)So am I allowed to host these downloads?

Yeah I would like Xp too, the clean GUI makes it easier to use than windows98 and things like that, but some of the features are rather annoying. I have been looking for linux for ages, I got it on a disk a few months back, but I lost the disk... Hey, this is kinda off topic, but, can you install linux and windows xp on the same computer? My friend has windows 98 and xp professional on the same machine, and he uses 98 for the internet and work, and xp for games and stuff. Just wondering.

Yeah I agree, dogs are a big help when alone, but when they get nervouse, what the heck are you supposed to do? I supposed hiding in the cuboard is out of the question. The place I am most scared of is outside my house at night. I live just outside my town, and the streetlights stop about 100 feet before the entrance to my house. So I have to run fast to get to the streetlights when going into town at night, and even faster when going home... Oh, and the road is lined with huge, old, oak trees, that are always creaking in the wind.. On the paris catacombs, I have been there! It was a school trip about a week ago for four days to paris. You have to go down something like 280 steps in a spiral staircase to get into them. and then its lines and lines of skulls on shelves and piles of arm and leg bones all over the place. Its very morbid.

I am personally hoping that the ps3 wont come out for a number of years. I dont want sony to get involved in a console war with microsoft and nintendo, they are all releasing new consoles almost beofre the old ones reach the shelves. They are all trying to outdo each other. It was almost eight or nine years between the playstation 1 and playstation two, sure the Psone was in the middle, (but thats just a portable one, and didn;t really take off) Since microsoft decided to expand its market into the console indrustry, everyone has been competeing. I personally would buy a console for the game I can play on it, not how better it is than another console. I own both an xbox and ps2, and I love the games I own on both of them, although there are very few good games for xbox. Why release an xbox2, or ps3, when they could just develop new, better games for the consoles around the moment?

The Lord Of The Rings A Poem a poem abou LOTR ^_^
Cypher replied to MPV2's topic in Art & Creativity
Yeah, I like it too, very nicely written poem. If only the Lord of the Rings books were written like this, I could manage to finish all three! How long did it take you to write this poem? Was it hard to write, or did it come easily to you? -
Body bags in the desert? Ghost cars? I saw none of these! I got this brilliant game about a week after it came out over here (in Ireland) and it stopped working after a few days, It was almost perfect except for one tiny scratch (every game gets even one small scratch), and now in certain places (or loading Cutscenes) it comes up "error reading Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas disc" I hate it, on my second saved game, I cannot leave CJ's house because of this. And, it seems to have happened to all my friends version of then game as well. They get the same error, and cannot play anymore.Maybe it is a fault in the european version or something like that?Yeah, I can't wait for a pc version too, I has such fun modding Vice City, I had re-designed the first island completely, and changed allt he cars for real, very detailed models of actual cars. And all the weapons too. Has an offical release date been set for the PC version yet? I think I heard it was going to be around August/September 2005. Has anyone heard the same, or different?

Yeah, I was pretty dissapointed when i saw the sims online was pay monthly, But I just waited and got the sims 2. I loved making a house with all my friends or family in it and removing all the exits and seeing how long they would survive, and who would be the last die! Do people still play the Sims Online? Or has it emptied after the hype died and people stopped playing it online, like Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3, which emptied as soon as Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 Came out.

I agree, Xisto is too good just to abandon because you cant be active for a while. Try backing up your site on your own computer, and making the quality posts. If you make the posts, but cant manage enough credits to keep the site open, then just re-apply when you return from your trip. Oh, and doesn't Xisto just suspend the account unless the hosting credits is lower than minus thirty? Are you going to be gone for more than a month?

New Use For Old Consoles Make a pocket SNES
Cypher replied to sirhenry's topic in Science and Technology
You seem to be making a lot of long posts, and they all seem to be copied material...I would like to see some picutres of this pocket snes, It might be a nice home project for me to start, I just need to get some schematics or a DIY handbook. The only issue I would have would be concerning the legality of ripping apart a piece of copyrighted material and rebuilding it into sometinhg new. Sounds like a good way to pass the time I have so much of these days. Thanks for the helpful post! -
100 Gigabytes Of Mp3s? ...in Your Pocket? wow
Cypher replied to Dodger's topic in Science and Technology
I would thinkit would be longer than a week off, maybe two! . I love the way technology is advancing, I put off buying an ipod when they came out, waiting for a better or cheaper one, now that this 80gb mp3 player is here, Im so glad! . Or maybe I should wait another while for the 1TB mp3 player? lol. -
Apparently the lead developer on The diablo series left blizzard, so they are looking for a new lead dev to co-ordinate the D3 project. i loved D1, D2 and the LoD expansion, I played for hours, click away on my mouse until I nearly broke it. I would love a Diablo 3, but what will the storyline be? You have already killed him twice...
