  1. IMO, the best method of really speeding up your start menu is to clean it out, sort/organize the rest, and reducing the number of items shown on the main start menu.
  2. I've used quite a few over the years, and I'd have to agree with the FileZilla users. It's kind of hard to explain, but I'd say it would be fair to call it simple, intuitive, but still powerful.
  3. Not that I'm jealous, but this is depressing news. I'm turned 13 recently and I'm still working on PHP. But a calculator at 10? That's impressive. I don't think I even had the attention-span to program when I was 10.
  4. And make sure you unplug your modem/ethernet cable before you perform any of this stuff. Staying connected to the internet while removing blaster (or any other virus) is a horrible thing to do.
  5. I've tried this before. Not much of a difference in performance. Quote TweakHound.com Also see this forum post: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r204-- Quote Above BBR Forum post So, in summary, this tweak doesn't really do anything.
  6. If you are using PPPoE, and you probably are, I believe there is an auto-logon feature (this is if you don't have a router). Under Windows XP: 1) Control Panel -> Network Connections 2) Find your connection. This is NOT your ethernet adapter. 3) Right click on the icon and select "Properties" 4) Uncheck "Prompt for name and password..." and Click OK 5) Create a shortcut in your startup folder. In your post you stated you already did this. Make sure you delete the old shortcut first. The above instruction will only work if you are using XP's built-in client.
  7. I read a bit about copyright in a graphics design book. Basically if you made it, it's yours and therefore the copyright belongs to you. This excludes doing work as an employee of a company, in which case the copyright goes to the company itself. The copyright text, according to the book, is more of a reminder than anything else. So as I understand it, it's automatically yours even if you don't put the text. Also note that ? doesn't count. Either use the real symbol (?)or the word "Copyright" Sorry for double posting. I can't find the edit button on this thing. What I meant was that the (c) doesn't count, but ? does. (hope this turns out right) Notice from jlhaslip: There isn't one. Long story short, it got abused and was removed. In future, 'report' the posts which need to be corrected and a mod will do that for you. Just like this merge/edit...
  8. I don't use DevPHP, but I think the internal webserver is a huge plus. The hassles of repeated uploading just to test it gets annoying and wastes time.
  9. I prefer a light colour scheme, but darks are okay too. It's dark-on-dark that really gets to me. Some webmasters just don't think of the people that have their brightness/contrast turned down at night.
  10. I don't do very "heavy" php work, so I usually use Notepad, but the internal webserver of DevPHP looks very promising.
