Has anyone seen the new asus slate, and for that matter, is css coming out with an update for touchscreen computers, or should they?

Most likely they are out their, of some form, but it is unlikely we will meet them. To understand this, think about how ghastly large the universe is, it is HUGE, really really BIG. Plus, when it comes to the sending out of radio-messages, they only go so far, they do not go on infinetly, so they aren't really that far out.To think that we came from space is in a way demeaning of earlier cultures. We evolved into humans 150,000 years ago, and started out around 5.2 million (upright *person* erectus?).

In numbers, quite a few have a unique factor, and their only talking about integers by the way. I mean I'm a massive fan of integers, but lets not forget about our freind the imaginary, which is important. I dont know, but thanks for the post, even if their random facts, it is nice to see anyway.

Microsoft will only work for windows, and possibly mac. It is highly unlikely it will find its way to a linux box for its whole production run, minus of course something to the tune of wine. In that case, it will never truly win over, although it isn't a half bad piece of software in its own.

Technology will never overcome us. It may some day seem to think, it may be faster at making mathematical calculations, but look at the invariable issue it has with image processing.I was listening to an NPR story, and a person said that google could think due to its broad area of information and amazing Page-rank algorithm. Neither of these, in fact nothing we've done with AI, does anything but simulate intelligence. It's not thinking, its making us think it's thinking.

touchpads have become extremely popular, my question is weather or not they are worth it. For 20 years, they have been around, but never a really popular item, is this changing?

I would wouldnt buy one, a: programming goes in objective c, and I really don't care to learn the language. Its a computer with severely limited applications, so that takes it more out of the running. Apple runs massive DRM, they even do that over the programs you make for the thing. With new tablets coming out from companies like ASUS, that run fully non-restrictive operating systems that are easy to overwrite, I'd go with them, if I wanted such a thing.

To ask a dumb question, what kind of algorithms do you want to implement?

I personally prefer to do html, css, and all other coding in my favorite text editor (for me this is emacs). I find it give me more power over how things look, and it doesnt take any time at all to learn how these things work. Emacs on the other hand has a bit of a learning curve, but its not quite so bad. After a day or two's use of html and css you'll definitely get a handle on it. W3school has a great list of all the css and html usages, so thats a one stop stop for all html and php workings. If you want easeir to quickly learn text aditors try notepad++, alost of my freinds swear by it.
