Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Come to talk about this game
lastexile1405241550 replied to iGuest's topic in Computer Gaming
Best game ever Made!!!!! this game will still be played for many more years to come. players have the freedom to do what every they feel like doing in the game. that is what makes it so great. it was a great improvement since the last one. now the player can swim and jump fences. the game never gets old even hours and hours of constant geme play. really it is a game that you can play all during the night with friends. and then still play in the morning. there is always something to do, whether it is doing the main missions, finding hidden items, or just random killling. there is always stuff to do great game -
Counter Strike: Source What do you think?
lastexile1405241550 replied to jimmy89's topic in Computer Gaming
Ive been playing CSX on the Xbox for nearly a year now,of which i have enjoyed greatly as hacking/cheating is very rare and its a popular game.I never played the original CS on the Half Life engine, but i wish i did!I bought Half Life 2 on the 29th of Decembre 2004 and i was instantly playing CSS and not Half Life 2,why?Ill tell you why,Half Life is a good game, but a single player game with never be able to match the tension and fun levals of an online game.As AI bots usually react on the same paths, but playing against real other players is imense and has been since the days of early network games,Doom,Quake etc.But to play this game at its best possible leval you will need a fairly good or new PC,so dont buy if you arent sure,TRY THE DEMO!Online,CSS is amazing.Requiring strategy, teamwork and skill.Dont expect not to get called a no0b.As standard CSS contains around 10 maps, but this is only the tip of the iceberg and the modding community is HUGE.The concept of the game is basicly two teams,Counter terrorists(CT) and Terrorists(T).The game is played in rounds, and to win the round your team has obejectives.CT Objectives : Eliminate all remaining enemys, rescua all surviving hostages or difuse the armed bomb.T Objectives : Eliminate all remaining enemys, protect the hostages from being rescued and plant the bomb, but be sure that it has time to go off.CSS contains many weapons, from Pistols to Auto Snipers. The weapons have to be bought win imaginery cash($) at the start of each round. The amount of cash you and your team has depends on the events of the previous round.Just say i got 4 kills last round and resued all the hostages. Now ive just goten my team lots of money by winning the round,as i rescued all remaining hostages. And i also got myself some more extra cash as i killed enemys in the last round. There are only a few downsides to CSS one of them is the usual PC game crashes, not everyone will experience these, but im sure they will if they play frequently.Hacking?Cheating and Glitches are known to be explointed in PC games and CSS isnt an exception.Cheating is fairly common, but dont let this put you off.If you didnt already know,Counter Strike Source is ran through Valve Softwares(the creaters of half Life and CS) popular service,Steam.Steam is yet to have an anti-cheat system, commonly known as VAC,but Punkbuster is there. There are always 1000's of servers open and waiting for new players in the daytime and many, many more at night. So you wont be lost to finding a good, friendly server. You also get a free Half Life 2 deathamtch style multiplayer game, title Half life 2 deathmatch which is also tense, much like unreal tournament.NOTE : Please note that broadband is reconmended for online play(prefferably 256k up,and 256K down). If you still have 56K or lower, dont be put off as its possible to still have a good time. You just might experience slowdown, aka LAG.Overall Counter strike source for the PC is an excellent game which you should have in your gaming collection if possible! -

Toca Race Driver 3 best simulation of driving on pc?
lastexile1405241550 replied to zomowiec's topic in Computer Gaming
It has taken Codemasters 3 games and around 3 years to come close to perfecting this racing series. I am not saying that this is hands down the best racing game ever, but man, its one of the better racing games to grace the PC in sometime now, and have refined many of the mechanics to make this a worthy racer overall. And for a mere $20 dollars, this game cannot be passed up if you are a hardcore racing/driving game fan! From the moment you start into your career mode/world tour, you are jolted right into a race, which is somewhat jarring. It was somewhat cool how they just kind of throw you in there like a rookie and see what you can do, but when you do not have your controller configured and you are using automatic, also with not having played this game before, its hard to know what to expect which makes the initial race somewhat annoying, but I really don’t think that it counts for anything, so that was cool with me. The next thing that really stood out to me is that this game is not about racing modified Japanese crap like every other racing game out there, or only racing F1 series, or only racing stock cars; this game literally has you driving anything with 4 wheels on, and some things with more. When I first started playing the TOCA series, I was floored that I was supposed to race semi tractors. Sure, they were not like racing F1 cars or American V8 muscle, but they sure were fun and different, and different this game does and does well. This game may not have every car on every manufacturers rooster, but it has the cars that count, and that you will really want to drive unlike GT4 where half of the cars in the game are crappy Asian 34 bhp cars which are not fun to drive, yet they have been in the Gran Turismo series since GT2, and are still present in GT4 for some odd reason. Cars like the Ford SHO Taurus and Ford Focus are worthy additions to a racing series, since you can actually use them for racing. Sure, I would love to see more cars in this game, but there is enough here to get the job done at the end of the day.Next is its simulation aspect. On one hand its super deep and with you going in there knowing what you are doing, you can blow by the competition with just some gear swaps, toe and camber changes and a few other small tweaks. This game is really easy to get into for beginners and they can easily race for a good long while without touching any of the settings, but in order to mater this game, you are going to need to at least change a few of the settings once you start getting into the more advanced races. And finally, I feel that dirt track racing deserves some mention. In TOCA where you have rally or sprint car races, this is probably one of the best rally games out there. This might have something to do in that Codemasters, the creators of TOCA 3 also make the genre defining Colin McRaes Rallisport Challenge year after year and keep doing a superb job in adding to the series each and every installment. If you have played Gran Turismo 4’s special condition races(snow and dirt), you know that it feels like you are sliding on glass the entire time, no matter the type of terrain you are on. In this game, you can actually feel you car bite the dirt at times and it also will take a few seconds after getting off the dirt onto the Tarmac to get dirt worn off the tires and get some traction. This really adds an enormous amount of realism to the game, not seen in many other games.Oh, and a little side note, if you are getting the PC version, make sure you pick up a controller. I have been using the extra controller that I bought for my 360, and its quite possible one of the best controllers I have ever used on the PC, and just works perfecting for this game. Sure, its $39.99 where as some cheaper logitech’s are 19.99, but it is most defiantly worth the purchase.Sound is great, every car sounds different, crashes feel for the most part real and like they would in real life. Not really anything that stands out as genre defining, but there are really no criticisms either. Crashes sound very realistic, and engine noises sound dead on. On thing that was the one major hiccup was voice over radio from your manager. Sometimes he will say things that would apply during the race, but he will say them on your last lap after crossing the finish line. One example is; “Now make it happen from here on in” when you cross the finish line on your final lap to end the race which is kind of random, and they really should have just put an if statement in there to fix that up. Its not a major problem, just something that detracts from the gameplay a little bit.The graphics are on par, they are not on the 360 level with Project Gotham Racing 3 which came out a year ago, and I really don’t understand why. On my nVidia 7800GTX, I have every setting pushed to the max, and AA and AF turned on, yet it still is not as refined as a year old game on a console with a graphics card that is somewhat inferior to mine in my PC. I really do not understand that. I am not saying they look terrible, but they will now blow you away if you have gotten your hands on a 360 since launch last year. The high point of the graphics for me is the detail used in the cars. On some cars where the engine is exposed, you can see the crankshaft just barely turning when at an idle, but when you start winding the thing up. Sure, it’s a little thing, but it makes the game 10x cooler.Online on the other hand leaves a bit to be desired, sure, its here, but getting into a race is kind of tough at times, the menu is a little difficult at first, and finding someone can be a challenge, but when I have gotten online, there really has not been any lag that has really hampered the game too much.My final thoughts on this game are; if you are a racing fan or know anyone who is one, go out to the store now and pick up the game, its only $19.99 and will keep you coming back for months, even if you wont be playing it online. -
was going to resist getting Zoo Tycoon 2, having recently being disappointed by the update of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (which is NOT an improvement). I am, however, a simulation/strategy game addict--and I am happy to report that I don't regret giving in to the impulse to buy Zoo Tycoon 2.The original version of this game was not one of my favorites. I found changing little squares of landscape and mending fences rather tedious for long term game play, not to mention only having income from entrance fees and food/drinks keeping my bank account in a permanent decline, and visitors loosing interest in the exhibits too quickly.WHY THIS VERSION IS BETTER:* 3D Animation - I tend not to care much about graphics in general, however these graphics are quite well done, and you can zoom in quite close to observe the animals. You can also click on any animal and find out what it's doing at any given moment.* Photo Safari - In certain scenarios and challenge games, you can earn awards by taking pictures of specific events. Switching to a digital camera style view, you may have to take a snapshot of two animals, or an animal running, etc.* Interactive Mode - You can switch to guest view, and walk around your park, getting a close-up view. Further, you can play caretaker and clean up after animals (and guests), clean animals and fill food dishes yourself.* Donations/Income - Guests continue to visit all exhibits as the game progresses, and contribute donations at each exhibit. The more interesting the exhibit, the more they donate (they like biomes: exhibits in which the terrain, plants, rocks and animals are all appropriate to one another).* Guest/Animal Detail - Similar to Roller Coaster Tycoon, you can view each guest or animal's specific needs, discovering which are fulfilled and which are not. You can also view lists of this information that can be organized by any category (which animals are pregnant, which guests most need a bathroom, etc.)* Responsive Guests - In the previous versions, guests nearly dying of thirst would walk right by a soda stand complaining. Now they form lines (though they'll whine if the line is too long) or give an opinion ("I want something other than soda.")* Atmosphere - Part of your score depends on the appearance of your zoo. Guests will get unhappy without fountains, arches and bouncy kangaroo rides to keep them entertained (and you'll get a message if too many of them are dissatisfied).* Zoo Rating/Progress - As your zoo improves, so does your rating, unlocking more objects and animals.* Exhibit Design - As with the previous version, you paint exhibits with appropriate terrain and fill them with the right vegetation for the animal. However, you paint in broad strokes, rather than micromanaging every square. Also, you don't pay for the change of terrain, which keeps the costs of building an exhibit much more manageable.* Gifts to Wear - There's a different gift for each animal, and guests will buy those relating to animals they've seen in your zoo. You might see them walking around with moose antlers on their heads or peacock backpacks.* No Broken Fences: The fences no longer deteriorate, so animals only escape if you use the wrong kind of fence, and predators will not kill other animals. Guests will still flee from escaped animals, however.*Animal Adoption: No longer can you purchase unlimited flamingoes or tigers. A limited number and variety of animals are available at a time, the higher your zoo rating, the more species available and the more options you have. You can choose to pass on adopting a species, and it will be replaced by a random other species after some time that isn't already an option (but each level only makes certain species available, you need to earn 5 stars to get the rarest animals).* Specified Research: Rather than having to research several things you don't want to get the one you do, you can choose the specific object you want to research next for a set fee. Objects available for research expand with your zoo rating.WHAT IT LACKS:* Number of Scenarios: I've had the game less than a week, and have already beaten most of the campaign scenarios. However, there are many challenge games still to be played. No doubt an expansion pack is already in the works to fix this.* Number of Animals: There are only 30 different animals, mostly the same as those found in the previous version. However, there is a wide variety: for instance you have one species of tiger, one of elephant, etc. I imagine there will be an expansion pack to supplement this, too.* Limited Initial Animal Choice: You always start out with the same three (Moose, Peacock and Camel) and need to establish them before more are made available, which gets a bit tiresome when you play a number of scenarios.BOTTOM LINE: A family-friendly game, I'd say this is one of the best simulation games of 2004 (and I've played a lot of them). Easy enough for kids to play, but entertaining enough for adults. If you're a fan of Rollercoaster Tycoon or SimCity, this is an excellent choice.

The way I figure it, there are two types of people in this world. Note that I said, “people”, not gamers, not computer nerds, not geeks, but people. In the one group, which is obscenely large in comparison, you have the people who play The Sims. In the other, you have the people who inevitably ask, “Why would I want to do in a game, what I struggle to do in real life?” It should be noted, from my own experience, the people in the latter group spend an awful lot of time trying to sneak a peak at the computer screen of those in the former group. (You thought I hadn’t noticed, didn’t you Mrs. Bearer?) And the reason I made the distinction between “people” and the usual stereotypes attached to computer gamers, is because The Sims is one of those rare, once in a dozen generations, type of games that transcends the culture lines between the masses and the gamers. The Sims, probably more so than any game since Pac-Man, has brought the non-gamer to the world gamers in massive, wonderful droves. People just can’t seem to get enough of running and in some cases, ruining, the lives of these little doppelgangers, which has been multiplied ten-fold with The Sims 2.For the uninitiated, all three of you, The Sims and The Sims 2, put you in complete control of the life or lives of little people who go about their lives on your monitor. Anything and everything you can imagine, you have control over. From the Sims home, to their furnishings, to their jobs, friends, and when and where they go to the bathroom is completely up to you. As in the previous game you are presented with the same meters for your Sims various needs and how you deal with these needs remains the same. You can physically act on their needs by directing them to the toilet when their bladder meter drains, or you buy that remote control car you’ve been eyeing when the fun meter bottoms out. As before, you are presented with a near infinite amount of ways and methods in dealing with you Sims’ needs. The basics of the game remain the same, but that’s where the SIMilarities end.Probably the biggest addition to the game is the introduction of aspirations and fears to The Sims, or in other words, your Sim now has goals for his or her life. Your Sim has aspirations for his career, his love life, and his popularity. Being goal driven, your Sim is never satisfied. Attain one aspiration and new, better, and in most cases more difficult aspirations appear. Each aspiration is given a numeric value with which you are rewarded when your Sim attains its goal. From there, you can spend your aspiration points on special rewards that cannot be purchased with your Sims’ hard earned Simoleans. All of these rewards have valuable effects, like elevating your Sims’ moods, or accelerating the development of your Sim babies, or my personal favorite, the Simolean tree which periodically sprouts money. However, these rewards can be alternately dangerous if used under the wrong circumstances, which comes into effect with the mood meter. Your Sim now has a mood meter, which is directly affected by not only the state of your Sims’ needs, but also his aspirations, ranging from red (bad) to green (okay) to gold (great) to platinum (does life get any better than this?). Using any of the rewards below a gold level can have disastrous effects on your Sims well being. The opposite of aspiration of course is fear. Fear of being rejected by a friend or significant other, fear of losing your job, and even fear of losing control of your bladder are the types of things that haunt your Sims dreams. Fears that become reality cost not only aspiration points, but if enough fears come to fruition your Sim can become depressed, despondent, and more neurotic than they already are. Aspirations and fears combine to form the basis of your Sims’ memories, which also has a direct affect on your Sims’ progression through life. Now for you astute, Sim veterans, you probably noticed that I made mention of babies. Also new to the Sims is the fruits of procreation. That’s right, your Sims can reproduce, creating an offspring that is truly the result of its parents. Like real, human babies, Sim babies are created from the mixing and melding of the parents’ DNA. Absolutely brilliant!!! Which brings me to the next new addition; your Sim will now age, and eventually face the same end we’ll hopefully all meet, death from old age. (For those demented gamers that take pleasure from torturing and neglecting your Sim, they can still die well before their time. Missing pool ladders anyone? Mysteriously disappearing doors in the midst of infernos anyone else?) But wait, there’s more. How you raise your Sim babies has a very real effect on the type of Sim adult they will grow into. Raise them with love and caring in a nurturing environment and you’ll have a well-adjusted adult Sim. Neglect your Sim baby though, (I can already here the maniacal laughter of the demented Sim gamer group) and you’ll have an adult Sim with some serious issues. It is also in the raising and aging of your Sim where the Sims’ aspirations come back into play. By completing your Sims’ aspirations you can increase your Sims’ lives, holding the dreaded grim reaper at bay a little longer. Some of the other new additions to the formula are that each neighborhood has its own soap opera like story that plays out in the lives of the Sims. Most of them are pretty interesting all on their own, but you’ve also got the ability to change the story in any way that you like. This is a pretty fun little diversion, creating and editing the story as you go along. You’ve also got the ability to take snapshots and film short movies of your Sims going about their lives, which can be saved into their family album for posterity sake, or for uploading to the Internet to share with the world. You are also periodically presented with a question you must answer concerning a decision your Sim must make, which also affects the gameplay. For example, I had chosen the military as a career for my Sim since it was the highest paying job at the time. After a few days I was presented with short little story about how a fellow soldier Sim had been caught sneaking a doughnut into his footlocker and my Sim’s drill instructor was asking me how he would punish the offending Sim. From there I was given two options and I obviously picked the wrong one, because the next thing I knew my Sim had gone AWOL because the local professional sports team began rioting, necessitating the need for military intervention, and my Sim didn’t want to tell his grandkids how he had been a part of the great Hot Dog war. (I guess you kind of had to be there) How my Sim went from punishing his fellow Sim with a ration of vitamins and water to going AWOL in order to escape a war of thrown hot dogs I’ll never know, but I must admit that it was strangely entertaining. When talking about new additions and features, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the reworked build mode since building and adding on to your humble abode is so integral to the gameplay. In the original Sims this feature was often frustrating and on the difficult side, usually resulting in spending more cash for the improvement than what you needed and still having not created exactly what you had intended. These days are no more. The build mode has been streamlined and simplified to the point that newbies will have absolutely no problem creating their dream home the first time around. Speaking of dream homes, you can now build four story monstrosities that would have MTV’s Cribs salivating at the thought of doing a show from your home. It’s amazing how something as seemingly insignificant as simplifying the build mode tools can add to the experience, but there is no denying it once you set out on adding that new addition.Graphically, the game has also seen great improvements. The game is now presented with a pretty impressive 3-D engine that really brings the world of The Sims to life. The world looks better, the environments look better, and the Sims themselves certainly look much better. They appear so much more lifelike, despite still maintaining that trademark “cartoon” look, that it amps up the immersion and your attachment to your creations to frightening levels. The animation created in this game is also stellar. The move to 3-D has allowed Maxis to include so much more expression and personality to this world, that it really blurs the line between the living and the polygonal. Many of the animations and actions of your Sims will have you laughing out loud. Along with the bump up in the graphics, comes one of the most in depth create a player features ever. EA in recent years has really ramped up these features in their games and it shows here. You are given so many options, with so many slider bars for every facet of personal appearance (except for height and weight) that if you cannot create a carbon copy of yourself or anyone you’ve ever seen, you’re just not trying. It really is almost scary the accuracy you can attain with these tools. The sound department is the lone area of the game that has not seen massive improvement over the last iteration, but that is not to say it hasn’t improved at all. The gibberish with which the Sims converse has been noticeably expanded. This may not seem to be that big of a deal considering none of us can understand a word they’re saying anyhow, but it is. There is so much more inflection and emotion in their gibberish that it is much easier to have some sort of understanding as to what they’re babbling about beyond the sometimes vague thought bubbles that sprout above their heads. It also adds to the humor and immersion of the game to hear your Sim heatedly arguing with another or doing his or her best to sweet talk the pants off their chosen target. The classic Sims music also makes a return.Overall, Maxis and EA have lovingly taken everything that people loved about the first game and made it better. They’ve also taken great pains to fix the things some did not like and most importantly of all, they’ve added enough new wrinkles and content to make it not only its own game, but also a worthy successor to the best selling PC game of all time. If you loved, or even just liked the first Sims, run, don’t walk, and get this game. For the small minority that haven’t allowed themselves the pleasure of playing this game’s predecessor, I dare you to give this one a chance and you’ll no doubt see what the craze is all about. Just be sure to temper any plans you might have had for that free time. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

here is simply no doubt that Gran Turismo 4 the best console driving simulation ever, and likely won't be topped until Gran Turismo 5. However, the removal of online play and a weak AI keeps GT4 from absolute perfection. Even with these minor negatives, if a gamer is a driving enthusiast, then the gamer will be playing GT4 for months and months, if not for years.GT4 offers something for everyone with its selection of over 650 cars, with the actual number being close to 700. There are 80 different manufacturers to choose from, ranging all across the world; therefore, there is an excellent chance we will find our favorite car company and see that one prized vehicle in GT4. However, the only glaring omission is the continuing absence of the three big names: Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini. Fans have been demanding for the inclusion of these names for a long time but EA still owns the license to use Porsche cars in a video game. As for Ferrari and Lamborghini, why are they not in GT4? I don¿t know, but nitpicking on the omission of just a handful of cars from an already impressive car is a non- issue. There is a lot about GT4¿s gameplay that I will leave out simply because there is just way too much to say. The game¿s gameplay is almost flawless. Weak AI and no online play are the only negatives, in my opinion. Although the computer AI has improved, it still does not handle itself properly and damage modeling continues to be absent. However, Gran Turismo 4 is still the most authentic racer on the market and it is bound to keep us playing for months, if not years.
