  1. Thank you! I appreciate it, and apologize for my error.
  2. Ah that makes much more sense...Thanks, I'll let him know this. =]
  3. I love your ideas, and your right, theres a very large amount of wasted energy that could be utilized to charge these batteries. perhaps we could have a much larger battery that was shaped like the sole of a shoe..and put the battery between the sole and the rubber.Sure, the battery would stink, but due to size it would store more energy/charge faster. Might hurt your feet a little too.
  4. My friend recently took a physics test, and was stumped on a problem. It was a random problem not related to their current subjects, and here it is: Problem: You hear a tone and you recognize the frequency as 243Hz. You hear another one, but don't know the frequency, but you count the beats of the combined tones as 24 beats in 3 seconds. What is the frequency of the second tone? (In formula sheet, you have: f_beat = |f1 - f2| ) He came up with 235. The closest choices on the answer sheet were 264 and 226. Here was my attempt at solving.. Any ideas?
  5. Some of those are really helpful, particularly in CSS.Theres so many CSS attributes that aren't addressed in W3Schools. I mean the base attributes are all addressed, but in many cases more advanced things like opacity ect. arent shown. These guides show them all! I've downloaded two of them which I'm sure I will use a lot in the future. Thanks for the link.
  6. Great summaries, and I'm sure they will help a lot of people; however, you left out a few =[. Languages such as Python, SMARTY, and PERL are still used on the web (though less commonly), and should be included as well, along with the other languages previously mentioned. As to the html over xhtml debate..I personally believe xhtml is the future of static web design, rather than HTML 5. Obviously HTML 5 will be wider used, as it will be more supported by programs, but the majority of good web developers will probably use xhtml. It loads faster, and works better across many browsers than HTML 4.0 does, plus it utilizes good practices in coding such as ending statements (tags in html), and properly nesting code, which must be done in almost all programming languages.
  7. Hey, I just received my hosting account, and I went to create it. After I finished creating it, the link wouldn't work. I tried to figure out why, and then realised I had typed "lc.astrahost.com" instead of "lc.astahost.com" Due to the extra R i put in, my hosting can't be accessed. Do I need to pay for a subdomain change? or would an admin be kind enough to fix my error? Thanks for the support~uNiT
  8. I'm going to say PHP itself is a scripting language, however like in the example before me, there are ways to make it become a programming language through applications such as roadsend. But generally speaking, it comes down to the fact that PHP cannot usually be run without being interpreted. It is read, not compiled.
  9. These are two of my better latest signatures. Constructive Criticism is more then welcome! *Unstoppable* - Featuring a render of Master Chief from Halo® *Essence* - Featuring a render of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy® Personally I like the first more, but I believe I overdid the glowing balls around him, and the text obviously could be improved.
  10. I too have nothing but positive comments to say about this host. From what I have seen, this community is great and active, the support is very good, and the server load seems minimal. There are no annoying ads, no popups, no gimmicks to get you to do something, just free, quality hosting. I hope I am soon accepted, as this is the best host I've come across thus far.
  11. Hmm interesting. I've always pronounced it similar to character. More like a care or a car I suppose. I've been through a programming class and my instructor also pronounced it "car". Charr just sounds plain odd to me, but I guess if thats the official pronunciation, then its what should be used. Personally, I'll probably continue to pronounce it as a short for character, but I've never realized something as such could have so many ways to say it
  12. I think its a great idea, but I'm agreeing with Mordent in the that the energy created wouldn't really be worth the amount of shaking. I weighed several AA batteries, of different brands, and found that they ranged from 22 - 25 grams of mass. That about halves the amount of energy mordent came up with, so lets say .045 J. Now he assumed the battery was its own charger, but then another problem comes up. How does it store its energy? Earlier things like on/off switches, storage units, ect. have been suggested. So lets say we have a small storage unit that takes up 1/8 of the battery for arguments sake, along with an "on/off" switch on the side of the battery which takes up 1/16 of it (unrealistic but work with me here). Thats 3/16 of a battery, leaving 13/16 of it. 13/16 = .8125.045 * .8125 = .0365625 (Be generous, call it .04)So now you'd only be generating .08J per "shake" of your arm, instead of .2Thats 12.5 "Shakes" for 1 J. Now considering most people would get tired after a minute of shakes, especially at the previously given 240 shakes per minute..the shakes would likely decrease VERY rapidly, I'm gonna say 400 Shakes by the third minute. 400 / 12.5Congratulations, you've generated 32J in 3 minutes. Reminds me of nuclear fusion. Except much more wasteful?
  13. Thats pretty amazing. I'd love to see floating water as I walk into someones house. I see a lot of good things that could come from this if they could manage to move solids in a similar method. This could become a new method in state of the art security, a way to transport things, or even just an everyday household convention. On the down side though, how much energy would it take to create these sound waves in the first place? Could the levitation be used as a weapon? I definitely hope I get to see the answers to some of those questions within my lifetime
  14. great tutorial, very well explained . I'll probably try and play with it later, Thumbs up!With some good time, I would expect this sort of idea could be used to actually make a simple website generator...hmm.
  15. I'm gonna have to disagree with everyone here, and say http://oiopoo.ru/404/index.php is the best. Only because of the amazing support, space, bandwidth, and other features they give you. Whats bad about them though, is they require you post. A LOT. its 400 of their points for 250 mb/5 gigs bandwidth. (minimum plan). biggest plan is 4,000 points for 2.5gig / 50 gig. Problem is, it takes about two paragraphs to get a point lol. Hence why im at astra host, the simple solution to great hosting =]
