  1. Well it looks like this issue got resolved. I was just noticing that on my desktop icons yesterday when I decided to change to a black wallpaper. It does get annoying, but at least there's a solution for it, which I should try. Right now. Now the only thing left is to have Windows come up with different skins for Vista or have a program where people could create some. It gets annoying seeing the same black bar (albeit well polished) all the time on the desktop. I tried WindowBlinds but it abruptly messed up my PC, which then led me to reboot the entire system.
  2. Wow, that'll give a whole new meaning to the words "couch potato". I have a friend who is a huge fan of vintage shows from the 60s and 70s, so I'm sure to give her the link. I really don't hope the government doesn't come hard on them like they have with YouTube and all, but then again, it's expected if you're showing hundreds of TV shows and movies.
  3. Core FTP Lite. It's free and gets the job done. I don't really use much of it rather than uploading/making changes, so I wouldn't know much of its features. I think besides that one Cute FTP is also another good one, except my trial had ended and didn't bother to look for a full version online.
  4. Yeah, extremely surprised. I thought people would of known better. If it were up to me I'd go back to XP, but I bought this computer with Vista, so it's pointless to go buy an XP OS CD (and I had to buy this PC on emergency, so I had no other choice). It's probably because I don't have sufficient RAM, but the first couple of days Vista went running slow on me. Then it got to the point where it halfway crashed and would slow down for everything it did, until I wound up doing a recovery for the system and rebooted it as brand new. Now I don't seem to be having any problems with it, but I'll probably update to 1GB of RAM sometime soon to avoid that happening again. Well, whatever makes people happy. I just hope they can have at least 1GB of memory. Two would probably be the best to run at 'normal' pace and not worry about slowing down.
  5. Wow, but a decade to go? I guess they're only using them in extreme emergencies such as wars. Just think of all the people it would save, but at the same time, the financial burden upon the people who pay for it, either by taxes or up front. I guess it would be safer to let it become public (or at least available anyway) in 10 years since the economy isn't exactly at its greatest right now.
  6. Funny I happen to run into this right now, since I just got done reformatting my computer. It's always best to take all these precautions, what with the scanning and all, but I found out if you were able to back up your files a fresh formatting works best. I've yet to get a worm/virus/hacked, but I'll make sure to take these precautions later on in the day when I'm done setting things up.
  7. I think the only reasonable issues I had with the hosting is not my site working, but the features in CPanel. I wanted to look into my WordPress files and install other scripts, except it turns out that I can't because it's giving me a 404 error. I e-mailed the host about it but they just gave me two automated messages back. I don't want to speak to a robot, I want a person to fix it. Turns out I can't change themes either among other things. Anyone else having this issue? I don't know whether to stick with Xisto or move to another one since it's been like this since the renovation.
  8. Wow, who knew? Well, even if it is 'right' with the temperature and water elements, Earth's wildlife and plants are another story. That, and just because a planet doesn't seem right for our standards of living doesn't mean that there aren't other type of life form on it. We just assume that we're the only ones that can survive in another planet.
  9. I'm not so sure about WMP. I've always had mixed feelings with it. The cons being it's always been a slow responder to 'quick clicks' when it came to just spontaneously choosing music to play. The pros, well, I would have to say the eye candy. Other than that, I can't see anything else that has improved its loading time. I'd really rather stick to WinAmp, it's way more efficient running than the overly large WMP.
  10. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. It's been years since I've used Yahoo! Messenger but I suppose taking a look at how this one works wouldn't hurt. I guess it's just another way for them to 'stick it to the competition'. I've always had bad experiences with the old Yahoo! Messenger, mainly connectivity problems, so let's see how this one holds up.
  11. 10/10.Incredibly simple to use with no need of random links and images you don't care about. Just the pure and simple search engine without bells and whistles. Plus, now that iGoogle is out, you can customize is to your liking, including themes that are time sensitive (which refresh on their own btw).
  12. They made a wise choice. Vista is in need of a lot of work, and I doubt it'll be fixed by the end of this year. Best to keep XP (or XP Professional) instead of wasting away money and getting headaches over a shiny new interface.
  13. I'd have to say Photoshop 7.0 hands down. I've been using it since its initial release and have yet to upgrade to CS2/3/whichever they're on now. I see no use in trying to get another one, but I might as well since I did upgrade my computer. That, and I can see what the big deal everyone is making over it.
  14. I've had my Vista running PC for over a good month now and I have to say I'd prefer XP over this. I had to uninstall the current Vista theme, download WindowBlinds, and change the theme so my desktop could run faster. Unfortunately the regular unzipping feature takes about a minute or so to take out a file, so I had to get WinRAR to do that too. Vista is nothing but eye candy to me, and see no real improvement over XP.
  15. I don't think I could connect both MySpace and having actual skill in web designing together. Most kids that use that thing don't now a lick of basic HTML and yet boast so much after their pre-made themes are up and running. They're not going to make any effort, as long as it looks better than someone elses. Plus, if you're serious about web designing then you should know that MySpace is probably the worse place to try your hand at, since the average page can crash a person's computer if they're over-filled with a lot of junk that they put on it (too much videos, .gifs, background music). It's just a better deal if you were to learn from a legitimate site like W3 schools instead of a place where animated .gifs as a background are considered 'nice'.
