  1. I saw in the news today I think they should allow the researchers but also make a policy of no misuse. Each and every technology can be used for good or bad both. Like Nuclear technology can be used to make nuclear energy or nuclear weapon. There should be safeguards against misuse for this technology too. But preventing a technology would be a bad decision. What do you think?
  2. I have 2 desktops and one notebook. The desktop is hp and i bought it because its cheap. its sempron 3000. The other is a p3 and laptop is dell. i had a hp lap top and it went bad preety quick.
  3. Thanks for taking time to review my picture. I agree with you on the sharpness of the model. I will try to make it more realistic. Thanks
  4. You might find the it in the program control area. once you go there find out the exact program name. Then set the permission to allow and it will always automatically allow it.
  5. Seafood is my favorite food. It is disappointing to see the depletion of seafood. In my area fresh seafood rates went up 5 times in last 15 years. More and more people are eating seafood and there is lesser stock in the ocean. Hopefully we find some way to preserve this great wealth.
  6. Wrong! Science need proof and mathematics is also a science. Mathematics is "science (or group of related sciences) dealing with the logic of quantity and shape and arrangement " . Using observational data is how one can get proof of something. Just using different verbiage doesnât alter the meaning. For science hypothesis is not based on some imaginary idea. Hypothesis is continuation of current scientific knowledge propagated to next generation knowledge. God's concept is just a wild imagination according to current science , its just a fiction. He is known To whom? Can some one come forward and prove that he is known to them? That will lead to proving his existence. But there is no one who can do that. Those who claimed to know god fall flat on their face. They also said they knew earth is flat and evolution is wrong. The baseless imagination is expoesed from time to time. Burden of proof lies on them who claim his existence. "No one can prove an unrestricted negative" is the reply usually given to those who claim that science can prove that God does not exist. An unrestricted negative is a claim to the effect that something doesn't exist anywhere. Since no one can exhaustively examine every place in the universe, the reply goes, no one can conclusively establish the non-existence of anything. The principle that no one can prove an unrestricted negative, however, is itself an unrestricted negative. It says, in effect, that there are no proofs of unrestricted negatives. But, if there are no proofs of unrestricted negatives, then no one can prove that no one can prove an unrestricted negative. And if no one can prove that no one can prove an unrestricted negative, then it must be logically possible to prove an unrestricted negative. So the claim that no one can prove a universal negative is self-refuting-if it's true, it's false. Not only that unrestricted negatives can be proven, but that a number of them have been proven. Parmenides realized over 2,500 years ago that anything that involves a logical contradiction cannot exist. We know that there are no married bachelors, no square circles, and no largest number because these notions are self-contradictory. They violate the most fundamental law of logic-the law of noncontradiction-which says that nothing can both have a property and lack it at the same time. So one way to prove a universal negative is to show that the notion of a thing is inconsistent. Ref: Free Inquiry magazine, Volume 21, Number 1.

  8. The world’s leading electronics makers have teamed up to develop a wireless technology to carry high-definition video and eliminate some of the cable spaghetti that links televisions with set-top boxes and other equipment. Seven companies form the WirelessHD Consortium to free high-definition TVs from the tangle of cables connected to cable or satellite boxes, gaming consoles, DVD players, or even camcorders and other portable multimedia gadgets. The companies are LG Electronics, Matsushita Electric, known for its Panasonic brand, NEC, Samsung Electronics, Sony, and Toshiba, as well as SiBEAM a wireless technology start-up. It will transmit high-definition video that has not been compressed digitally so users should experience the same image quality they currently get with wired HD-capable video connectors. The WirelessHD group has been working quietly for more than a year and aims to have the technical specifications completed next spring. It intends to integrate the technology into HDTVs and a range of other audio-video equipment, as well as make it compatible with other wireless and wired video formats.Transmitting HD video seamlessly and wirelessly requires a large amount of radio bandwidth and poses technical issues involving picture quality and interference. Though WirelessHD hasn’t released full details of how its technology will work, the consortium claims it will deliver high-definition video at multi-gigabit data rates — faster than any other radio technology in development. Do you think this venture will be successful?
  9. Microsoft has announced the date on which Windows Vista will be made available to businesses. From 30 November corporate customers of the software giant will be able to get their hands on the next version of the operating system. Also on that date Microsoft will make available Office 2007 - its suite of business programs. Home users will have to wait until January 2007 to get hold of a copy of the Vista software. Vista is the long-awaited update of the Windows operating system that was originally slated to be released in August 2006. The software has been under development for more than five Are you guys curious about vista? does anyone here know how it is going to be different?

  11. Here is a latest news regarding fish. There will be virtually nothing left to fish from the seas by the middle of the century if current trends continue, according to a major scientific study. Stocks have collapsed in nearly one-third of sea fisheries, and the rate of decline is accelerating. Writing in the journal Science, the international team of researchers says fishery decline is closely tied to a broader loss of marine biodiversity. But a greater use of protected areas could safeguard existing stocks. "The way we use the oceans is that we hope and assume there will always be another species to exploit after we've completely gone through the last one," said research leader Boris Worm, from Dalhousie University in Canada. "What we're highlighting is there is a finite number of stocks; we have gone through one-third, and we are going to get through the rest," he told the BBC News website. Steve Palumbi, from Stanford University in California, one of the other scientists on the project, added: "Unless we fundamentally change the way we manage all the ocean species together, as working ecosystems, then this century is the last century of wild seafood." Do you think this might be true? what could be done to aviod this?
  12. Embedded railway on track picture. This is a picture made with an old picture with tracks and a new model made to look like old Railway engine. The text in from is nor real its just imaginary number. This is not an exact replica any real train engine model but just similar features added together. The model is colored but I made the picture black and white to make it more realistic. This model can be embedded any picture for still or video output. Let me know your opinion. This is not even close to perfect and there is a room for a LOT of improvement. Your comments in that direction would be helpful. Thanks
  13. Net nutrality is a serious issue according to Sir Tim Berners-Lee the inventor of the web. This is something that has potential to affect the future of the internet. here are some notes from his blog. What do you guys think? Please also mention any new info you have on this topic along with your comments. Notice from pyost: When copying content from other web sites, be sure to use the QUOTE tag and specify the source. 14. We didn't lose it, we just changed it's status from planet to 'dwarf planet' what part of 'planet' do you not see in the term 'dwarf planet'? This merely implies that while a planet, it is different than the rest of them are, and any simpleton can tell by the size and orbit that it differs greatly from the other eight planets. Twas a bad decision to include it in the first place, and it's good they fixed the problem.Pluto: still a planet, just not one of the ones of regular stature. Just like midgets are still people, dwarf planets are still planets. You guys with your pointless rants that don't include the least bit of science. Why not try reading between the lines before go off on something you have no idea about? They simply changed the definition of a planet to better help them define objects. Would you rather have to remember 12 regular sized planets (one of which was Pluto's moon)?I remember when I learned of the years in which people refused to believe the earth was flat, and even when data was presented to show otherwise they still refused to believe it...We should not mix science with emotions. Science isn't about emotion, you don't keep something simply because it feels good.
  15. Scientifically God doesn't exist. Science needs proof and there is no way you can prove his existence.God in an unknown entity to every human being but every one is looking to find him. To say that god exists because no one can prove he doesn't exist is not logical. By that logic anything can be bought to existence in this world. But to belief and faith in God is also natural. Belief and faith don't need logic. There are many advantages and disadvantages of concept of god. Fear of God make people act lawfully while we know many people used God for getting power and maintaining it.
  16. I recently bought a 160 GB External Hard Drive by 'MY BOOK'. Its compact.. and literally looks like a little book :)Since it is compact it takes up less space on your desk, stacks horizontally.I found it easy to set up and also easy to use. One feature I liked about it is that it turns itself on and off with your computer. I found it exceptionally fast and ultra quiet. It is really useful and as it is relatively cheap, its a great way of storing or backing up your computer. The only problem was that with larger files it can take a long time to copy or during play back it can be a little bit jumpy. Other wise it is a very good product. I just opened the box, plugged in the power, connected the USB and it works perfectly. It was recognised immediately. I basically use it to store all my pictures & my baby's videos. With 160 GB in hand, I have hardly used any space! I m really glad I bought this hard drive... its become one stop-shop for all my pictures & videos...
  17. Embded picture in the solid model. Here is one try I made to use real picture with solid models to create a combination. The solid model work takes time to generate. This is only a startup idea for my personal practice. Let me know what you thinkThanks
  18. Here is some interesting statistics I found on the net related to this topic. This info ref is from Stanford University press release. What do users do on the Internet? We asked each of our 4000 respondents to select among a list of 17 common internet activities and tell us which they did or did not do. This is what we found: E-mail is by far the most common Internet activity, with 90% of all Internet users claiming to be e-mailers. (Note: the corresponding table has been updated from the previous version of the press release) For the most part, the Internet today is a giant public library with a decidedly commercial tilt. The most widespread use of the internet today is as an information search utility for products, travel, hobbies, and general information. Virtually all users interviewed responded that they engaged in one or more of these information gathering activities. A little over a third of all Internet users report using the web to engage in entertainment such as computer games (such as online chess, role games, and the like). Thus, the current Internet is also emerging as an entertainment utility. Chat rooms are for the young and the anonymous. While a quarter of internet users claim to have used chat rooms, this activity substantially decreases after age 25. And the chatters report that the overwhelming portion of their chat room interaction is with anonymous others whose identities remain unknown. Consumer to Business transactional activity-- purchasing, stock trading, online auctions, and e-banking--are engaged in by much smaller fractions of Internet users, with only a quarter reporting they make purchases online and under fifteen percent doing any of the other transactional activities. Despite all of the sound and fury, business to consumer commercial online transactions are but in their earliest stages. How many different activities do Internet users engage in? Building from the data in chart B, we find that the average Internet user reports engaging in 7.2 different types of activities. While there is probably some double accounting due to our attempt to be comprehensive in our list activities, the average user is engaging in at least 5 distinct types of activities on the Web: a combination of different types of information searches, entertainment and games, and for one quarter, some commercial transactional activity. Length of use correlates with amount of use. The Internet has been around for about five years now, and the longer people have been web users the more hours and the more activities they report engaging in. While self-selection may be playing a role with early adopters, the data in Chart, along with the generational data presented here and in the press release, strongly suggest a model of social change with not only a growing number of Internet users, but with web users doing more and more things on the internet in the future. Myth and Reality of the 'Digital Divide': There are some demographic differences in Internet access. 21 percent of differences in Internet access can be explained by demographic factors. By far the most important factors facilitating or inhibiting Internet access are education and age, and not income - nor race/ethnicity or gender, each of which account for less than 5 percent change in rates of access and are statistically insignificant. By contrast, a college education boosts rates of Internet access by well over 40 percentage points compared to the least educated group, while people over 65 show a more than 40 percentage point drop in their rates of Internet access compared to those under 25. Age really reflects generational differences, and thus shows what to expect in the future. There are few demographic differences in Internet use. Only 6 percent of differences in Internet use can be explained by demographic factors: Thus, once people are connected to the Net they hardly differ in how much they use it and what they use it for - except for a drop-off after age 65, and a faint hint of a gender gap. Demographic differences in Internet use involve at most an hour and a half a week, mainly reflecting people's time budgets and work status; and they involve hardly more than half an additional Internet activity, in the latter case reflecting levels of education. Instead - and above all - Internet use increases dramatically, both in terms of amount of time and in terms of range of activities, the longer people have been connected to the Internet, and this fact will make for steady growth in the future. > The more time people spend using the Internet ⌠... the more they lose contact with their social environment. This effect is noticeable even with just 2-5 Internet hours/week, and it rises substantially for those spending more that 10 hours/week, of whom up to 15 percent report a decrease in social activities. Even more striking is the fact that Internet users spend much less time of talking on the phone to friends and family: the percentage reporting a decrease exceeds 25 percent - although it is unclear to what extent this represents a shift to e-mail even in communicating with friends and family, or a technical bottleneck due to a single phone line being preempted by Internet use. ... the more they turn their back on the traditional media. This effect increases proportionally with hours of Internet use: for every additional hour on the Net, people report further decreases in time spent with traditional media, reaching 65 percent for those spending more than 10 hours a week on the Net. Clearly the media are competing with the Internet for time, especially in the case of television where even with as little as two hours/week on the Net, a quarter of Internet users report decreases in TV viewing - you can't surf the web and watch TV at the same time. For newspapers, the same effect is less dramatic and may also reflect the fact that people could substitute reading the news on the web for reading the paper. ... the more time they spend working at home - and at the office. Even with less than 5 hours/week of Internet use, about 15 percent of full-time or part-time workers report an increase in time spent working at home. And as their amount of Internet use rises above 5 hours/week, a growing number - up to an additional 12 percent - even report spending more time working at the office, as well as at home. For heavy Internet users with regular jobs, a substantial portion of their total Internet use is likely to take place at the office to begin with - and it seems to be keeping them there for longer hours, in addition to invading their home. There are at present no indications suggesting the beginnings of telecommuting. ... the less time they spend shopping in stores and commuting in traffic. This effect grows with the number of Internet hours/week, and as might be expected, stands out particularly clearly for people who use the web for researching product information or for actually making purchases online, thus saving trips to the store. But it does not affect time spent commuting in traffic, which decreases with the number of Internet hours for the non-working population only, whether or not they shop on the web - working Internet users drive to work just as much as before. 19. Thank you vujsa,I installed both the applications on a single database and it worked fine. For the mediawiki application I used mw_ prefix for the files. I will test both the applications for a while to understand how the databases work. Thanks again for your valuable input.Best regards.
  20. I have used noads.biz web hosting service. That is no advertisements and free hosting. They did not support any database or php cgi etc. Suddenly one day they e mailed me saying that their sever is closing and back up all my files. Overall my experience was not good. Thanks
  21. At this point of time thinking outside the universe would be a real wild guess. Scientific time started at Big bang and anything before that is a total unknown entity. If we could solve the mystery of Big Bang then only we could see how the big started and what is that the universe is expanding in to. There is possibility of multiple universes. That would also depend on whether Big bang was an accident or controlled phenomenon. It’s vast and interesting. Good topic to discuss. Thanks
  22. I had Belkin 125 Mbps router. It worked fine until I had to stream high quality videos on the network. The signal was intruppted and the video was intermittent. Then I tried Linksys 54 Mbps. This one worked good without any problem streaming videos. But this Linksys router needs reboot quite often.
  23. There are multiple forum software available for free today.phpbb2 and imperialbb are 2 of them.Which one is better? I saw many free skins for phpbb2, none for imperialbb.
