  2. It's from google so you know it has to be good. As long as it has a popup blocker and no spyware/adware its fine by me.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions allI'm trying FileZilla right nowI'll test out any other ones that seem good if I find this one insufficient in any way ><
  4. Xoops and Mambo are my favorite Content Management Systems. You can adapt booth systems like you want.
  5. I would say firefox was great but after a few 'bugs' that was really annoying plus the very slow startup times, i switched to opera, no problems so far and it would be the greatest browser i've used.I have never really used thunderbird because opera has integrated email capabilities.Right now i am installing ie7 to have as a backup browser.Overall i think mozilla is a good company but after some bugs i have experienced i wouldnt switch back
  6. The original version didn't let you edit (but it was free), but the new version of ACDSee is pretty awesome. I have photoshop and normally use it to edit my pictures, but it is slow to load and slow to learn. ACDSee loads very quickly and it let's you crop pictures to specified ratios (e.g. 4x6, 10x14) which is something I could never figure out how to do in photoshop. And they have a red-eye removing tool that shocked me by how quickly and easily it worked. But, I think you have to pay for the program now, or use the trial version. Give it a try.
  7. For me, I have only used FrontPage once in my life. Dreamweaver is my editor of choice and find that the application can be overwhelming at first, but I feel the learning curve isn't too bad. I started out learning HTML and then moved to Dreamweaver to code it all. In my opinion, its always good to have a good background on what you're doing cause if something doesn't look right, you could always check the HTML. Dreamweaver has a very good reference section that explains the different tags for HTML and other languages. The reason why I like Dreamweaver is because the user interface is not intrusive in any way. Every panel can be hidden so all you see is the workspace and the reason why I like this is because I can open up and edit multiple files at a time and still be organized. In the end it's what you're most familiar with that will get you the best results.
  8. Wow, they're pretty good. I can understand that it is difficult to make the objects as detailed as possible. I tried making one object so detailed, but it took me so long and I didn't end up with a very high detailed product. Like the guy above, you got talent. Keep it up and you'll improve. I hope I can get back to my 3d modelling skills cuz I know I need a lot of improvement.
  9. From few years experience I wanna say thats really friggin good for a beginner only few weeks in.Bump maps are your friend go add some grain grit maps like sand to it as a bump map bring it up jsut a bit not much to even tell its sand youll be amazed by it.And on the throwing star slight reflection map. I dunno how far you are into mapping but really if you get good at maps your models can suck but look amazing still.Feel free to message me if ya ened help with anything
  10. Since this is a video editing topic, I would like to throw my own question in to the fray:Say I were to make a video in 3ds Max. Are there any programs that I could export the 3ds .avi file in to, and edit the movie to make it look like an old fashioned film? Grainy, torn frames, black and white sort of effects?
  11. As far as I know, AVG free can be updated off a local server if you configure it to do so. I use it because 1. Antivirus should be free... viruses are too wild on the net, 2. It's very good for free! It has some features even Norton doesn't have. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Do not plagiarize. Use quote tags and contribute with your own words. Warning issued.
  12. mysql is the best by far.. simple and easy to use.. most of installable scripts are available in mysql. also mysql is opensource and has a huge community of users to help you out (that is if you have somehow got some problem.. which doesn't happen very often with mysql)..slightly of topic.. but i feel that sometimes guys use mysql databases to often when its not required... even storing data in text files is good for small scripts like polls, guestbooks, etc. but for bigger applications, its better to use mysql.
  13. I agree, I think MySQL is the most popular and the most easy to use. Almost all webhosts offer MySQl instead of anyother databases. Personally, I would go and learn it because it is extremly useful when you are making websites with different login places and such.
  14. I actually wrote a thread about it here but maybe I posted it on the wrong forum... Whatever, yeah, the new version is great and is working really stably up 'till now and I've been using it for I think almost 48 hours (which included an abnormally large amount of browsing)! And yeah, I really think I should try out the newest Opera version as well.
  15. t feels like the day I first learnt how to use a computer, Google was my friend, and now its come this far, 8 years is a big achievement. They should give 8 Free Things to all of its users.
