  1. Legend of the Green Dragon is a remake of the classic game Legend of the Red Dragon (LoRD). Many of you have probably played LotGD before, and those of you that haven't I suggest that you do. It can have more content than most MUDs and has an easy-to-use interface. I recently started my own LotGD Server which can be found at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. Feel free to join, we need all the players we can get. You can view the list of all available servers on the LotGDNet here. I suggest you try out the game, I enjoyed playing it for a long time.
  2. This simple game can keep me entertained for hours...click here to play. Pretty much all you do is make little pathways for the 4 different substances to follow. The Namekuji is like a slug, and it grows in size if exposed to water, but shrinks and explodes if exposed to salt. Oil is flammable and you can start it on fire with fire. Water makes plants grow as well if it falls on any plant. Sand pretty much does nothing. Cera, or wax, just acts like wax and it burns slowly. The ??? pretty much destroys everything on the screen. Enjoy!
  3. Interesting... Thanks for that bit of info. Yeah, I loved FC5...just a question though, are there any errors when you enter 'glxgears' in the console? Wouldn't work back when I had FC5 and was just curious if it was just me, and does Wine work fine for you too, or do you use it?
  4. Well...first of all, World of Warcraft is a great game. I have 45 DAYS of in-game played time on my level 60 undead warlock. WoW was my life... and there was SO MUCH to do, or so I thought. First off, after getting to 60 (which is way easier than many MMORPGs) I decided to do the BGs (Battlegrounds) and get high rank so I could get some good armor...well, I spent 2 months grinding in the battlegrounds. Everyday all day long...and I finally got to Champion and got what I was after, the Champion Set! 2 months of incredibly boring grinding was to an end. I did a bunch of instance runs next, UBRS, LBRS, UD Strat, Scholo, and went on raids with my guild to ZG, MC, and BWL. Wow I was having fun, getting on TS (TeamSpeak) and talking while forming strategies on how to down the bosses, all the while getting DKP with my guild! Well, after awhile that got boring...doing the same thing every week in the hopes of the 1% drop chance you are after. I went back to the BGs and got Exalted with the Defilers, and got the Ironbark Staff... Oh boy! Well, what more was there to do...? More endless runs with my guild...? More endless BGs to High Warlord...? I had gotten my epic mount long ago so that goal was gone. There was no longer anything I could do to easily get better...all I could do was wander and wait...waiting for BGs to pop, waiting for guild to do runs...waiting...And I had enough...in an MMORPG you are suppose to get the reward of fun at high level, doing things that others can't...in WoW EVERYONE is max level, and EVERYONE does the same thing. WoW is a great game, but once you have done it all there is nothing left to do. It's true they add more content every little while...such as the Ahn'Qiraj area, and now the Necropolis and the Scourge invasion...but these are just an extension of what you are already bored of...where is the challenge, the heroics, the adventure...? 40 people to kill Onyxia, why not 4, or 1? You can never truly obtain real power in WoW, no matter how long you play...it'll still be the 40 man raids and the same old thing...
  5. Entropia Universe, the most expensive 'game' on the planet... From EntropiaUniverse.com Yes...Entropia Universe, the game in which someone paid $100,000 for a virtual space station (for news article click here). I got sucked in for the first time about 6 months ago, it was called 'Project Entropia' then. With the allure of making REAL MONEY in a game...Entropia Universe has a unique system where you can withdraw 10 PEDs (Game Dollars) into 1 USD ($1), so if you have 1,000,000 PEDs you could withdraw them and make $100,000 of solid cash. Sounds good? I thought so... After about a week of playing my character had made little if any progress. I was beginning to see why the developers (Mind Ark) said it wasn't a game, it wasn't any fun! All I could do was sweat gather (what newbies do to make PEDs) and sell the sweat I got to other players to make tiny amounts of money. I gave up...it was surely impossible to make any kind of money in that game. Well, after a month I came back...Entropia Universe WAS more than a game, you could do ALOT of stuff . I decided to deposit some money into the game. So deposit I did, I put $20 into the game and got 200 PEDs, ALRIGHT! I spent that money in a flash on new armor, probes, and equipment (I was an enmatter miner). Within a DAY all that money was gone, and I had barely gotten anywhere. I had gained a bit of skills but not much, I couldn't do anything but sweat gather until I deposited again, and sweat gathering for a week would only make you about 20 PEDs, that's just $2...so I decided to deposit AGAIN! In went another $20 and I decided to use it for ammo and go hunting...it lasted alot longer than it did when I was mining, but within a few days it was gone and I was broke. It is impossible to actually make a profit when you have low skills. I put another $20 in and hunted some more...within a week I had spent $60 and had gotten NOTHING back. After talking with some people I realized this was normal, there is a complex looting system in place to ensure people can't make more money than the company is recieving in deposits (I won't explain it all here, it would be too long). Well, I decided enough was enough...but now I am back and going for the point where I can finally stop depositing while I pump money into the game and get nothing back...if any of you are tempted to play feel free to let me know and I could help you out in the game, I have gotten fairly decent. You can't message people unless they are on your VIP, so just send me a PM here on the Forums with your characters name and I'll try and contact you. And yes, I am still depositing lots of money...I just paid 100 PEDs ($10) for a HAT in the game. ...and it isn't even very fun...
  6. Yeah, it woulda been nice if I had known what the problem was while I was infected. Thanks for the link to the fix, I'll keep that in case I get infected again from some obscure .exe I download! I'm using Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite which includes an Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware but it still misses ALOT.
  7. Nice to meet you! I am new here as well, and so far it looks like a great little community! (I'm not just saying that in case an admin reads this )I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, and I think I will too!
  8. First of all I love Anim8or! It is a free 3D modeling and character animation program, and I used it successfully on an old laptop I had. I recently bought a new Laptop, the specs are: Model: HP Pavilion zv6100 OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 Processor: x86 AMD Athlon 64 Memory: 768 MB RAM Video Card: ATI MOBILITY RADEON Xpress 200 Series Although Anim8or worked fine on my previous, older, Laptop when I run it on this one the FPS is severely reduced while dealing with transparencies in the Anim8or window. I have updates all my Drivers, and tried all the basic steps to get it to work...I have come to accept it is just a hardware problem with my Video Card, any suggestions though? You can get Anim8or here!
  9. Information from eere.energy.gov. Hydrogen Energy is currently powering many of the worlds most advanced stealth submarines. It is preferred for many reasons, it makes absolutely no noise, no moving parts in a hydrogen cell, and the only waste product is water. The only danger is the hydrogen could explode so the cells are kept on the outside of the submarines and designed to explode outward in case of an emergency. Could Hydrogen Energy ever be used to power cars? Yes! Hydrogen production is efficient and easy, most of you have probably seperated hydrogen and oxygen in High-School Science. However it would create new problems if ever we became dependent on Hydrogen for our cars. Yes, we are running out of fossil fuels, but hydrogen requires fresh water and although there is alot of it the world does have a shortage - especially if we started using it in automobiles. Already fresh water is harder to get and the process of Desalination (purifying salt water) is expensive. It is a possibility however, but we will still be dependent on oil for a long time to come.
  10. Yeah, it is way old...people have used that lame way of typing for a long time to try and make themselves feel special, I have noticed it in alot of MMO games. It's not leet or '1337' in any way, it is just (as yungblood said) annoying!
  11. All I can say is...'wow'! I had absolutely no idea CSS could do something like that. Thanks for that link I'll have to study it some and try and figure out how it was done.
  12. Many of you probably already know of SpySheriff and its corrupt nature, and maybe there was already a post of it here, but either way if I can let a few people know I'll have helped them avoid some troubles that I went through. First of all under no circumstances should you install SpySheriff. Article from http://www.2-spyware.com/ - click here for the original article! Several installations ago I made the mistake of Downloading and Installing SpySheriff, it's website (http://ww1.spysheriff.com/) does a convincing job of portraying it as a legitimate SpyWare Removal Program. However once I installed it my computer quickly became infected with all sorts of Adware and Spyware and through my best efforts I couldn't get rid of them. SpySheriff would go through its process and pretend to remove them while changing OS settings and locking up the internet. I eventually had to reformat my hard drive and re-install WindowsXP...I found out later that it was in fact SpySheriff that had caused the problem in the first place.
  13. A Program recently came to my attention in a news article concerning DoS Attacks. This program includes .def (Definition Files) for Bruteforcing common E-Mail Providers such as:AngelfireAOLCNN WebmailFlashmailHotmailICQMailMailCityMyOwnEmailNetscapeNet TaxiPeoplePCPopcornTalkcityYahoo...and more! And Definition Files can be made easily by anyone who is able to view the Source Code of a login page and find the names of the Username and Password variables. All it takes is someone who knows your login name and has time to burn. So keep your E-Mail password long or use a more secure E-Mail provider, and it wouldn't hurt to keep your Account Name a secret too. Knowledge is power, the more you know about the potential problems the better they can be avoided! Notice from pyost: Program name and link removed
  14. I can provide you with E-Mail Forwarding through my Domain Name (shrike.us). Just PM me with your E-Mail and whatever name@shrike.us you want. It's free of course, and I'll change it/remove it whenever you want. If you already found something though that's fine.
  15. I used Google for a LONG time, but recently I have switched to Ask.com. You can do more customizable searches and you can't beat those binoculars. Also, you gotta love those commercials they put on T.V.

    Rapidq

After struggling through C++ Windows Programming I stumbled upon RapidQ by William Yu. I LOVE it! You can do complex Windows Programming easily! You can do things like make an online chat server in as little as 100 lines of code, it has a GUI for creating Windows, and has a bunch of built in functions that I couldn't live without! I recommend this to everyone who is looking for an easy way to do complex windows programming. Here is an example of how simple the code appears: SUB SendToClients(Message AS STRING) ClientNum% = 0 FOR I = 1 to NumClients% ClientNum% = Socket.WriteLine(Client%(I), Message) NEXT END SUB I know you need to see more to understand what this small portion does but I didn't want to make a post with 100 lines of code in it... You can download it here!
  17. Lunar was made by a friend of mine and it is/was a Text-based online strategy game. He took it offline about a year ago to upgrade it and fix some bugs and has been pretty lazy about actually working on it. However he is adding graphics and some other features and once it is back online I encourage everyone to play it! You can find it here (offline right now). I keep bugging him about it and hopefully he will stop making excuses and finish it...
  18. MUDs are definently an aquired taste, you're not gonna pluck someone from playing Counter Strike and get them to enjoy typing in a little console while watching pages of text scroll by. I sure can't handle playing a MUD all day long, but I do enjoy them...ALOT! I actually was helping make on called LoA (Land of Aern), but it flopped before much happened. My favorite one I have played so far though would have to be Materia Magica...but MUDs are not at the top of my list of all-time favorite things to do.
  19. You forgot the best one! TIBIA! Hehe, but so far a very good list...I try to sample most MMORPGs I can find! But so far non have matched Tibia in the long term. I've been playing Tibia off and on for about 4 years now. You can go to Tibia's website at Tibia.com! You also left out Entropia Universe (Was recently called Project Entropia)! Thanks for the list though, alot of those I have never heard of...I'll have to try them out, thanks.
  20. Well first I would like to say 'hello' to everyone, this is my first post! Ok, a few months ago I decided to abandon WindowsXP and convert to Linux. I chose to install FC5 (Fedora Core 5) and the install went smoothly. I had to tweak some of the display settings because it didn't auto-detect my monitor type and was having some graphical glitches, but overall it was working great. I installed GAIM (AIM and ICQ), aMule (eMule), and Wine (Windows Emulator). I had hoped I could use Wine to run Windows EXEs and it did 'kinda' work...I let me install some things but wouldn't let me run them. After some frustration I found out it couldn't handle OpenGL so I popped over to some Linux Help Forums to see what was up. Apparently I had chosen one of the few (if not the only) versions of Linux that had this problem with Windows Emulation. Apparently FC4 (Fedora Core 4) worked fine...after several days of fumbling around and installing every Windows Driver I could find I gave up...I had loved Linux but I wasn't about to sacrafice all my Windows stuff... Time to re-install WindowsXP! *Insert XP installation Disk*"Setup is detecting your computers hardware configuration...please wait..."*Blank screen*Well, I was befuddled...I tried several more times and it just flicked to black after it tried to detect my hardware. Well...time to do something I hate, I called customer support! After hours of waiting I got to talk to someone that I could barely understand due to his heavy arab accent...Well, he walked me through the retard steps, "Is your computer plugged in?" ... "Is your monitor turned on?" ... etc. Well, I could only hide the truth for so long, I had to finally tell him I had installed Linux...and Uh-oh, customer support is only for Windows! I tried to tell him it was the WINDOWS installation that was messing up, Linux was working FINE! Well, that didn't work...he asked if I wanted to be transfered to other 'Tech Experts' and pay $50 every 40 mins. No thanks...Needless to say I was getting desperate, "MUST HAVE WINDOWS"...so, I insert a Windows98 DELL installation CD (My Computer isn't a DELL). It starts, then goes to a DOS Prompt with a message about only being able to install on a DELL. Well, at least the installation got furthur along than the XP did. After hours of headache and hastle and buckets of sweat I did a 'fdisk' and found the problem. The active partition was 5Mb... wow Linux does some wierd stuff...I formatted and installed XP, and it worked. Well, I would have THOUGHT the WindowsXP installation would be intelligent enough to have a message saying, "Active partition does not have enough free space to install Windows..." But I guess not. Well, it was an adventure but now I am back and using XP... Anyone have any comments on what I coulda done differently to avoid some of this, and maybe a way to get FC5 working?
