Houdini, I'm sorry, but that is ignorant and close-minded of you. I may even go as far as calling it really stupid. There are some really introspective and awefuly smart rap lyrics. And besides... look at the lyrics of bands like Unwritten Law! They're really good on the music side, but the lyrics look as if they've been written by a post-rape 12 year old girl!

Well, I was one of the first 50 players of this game after I saw it's announcement topic, and I was like, "Yay! Finally a game I might be good at because I'm one of the first players!"...That didn't work out. :(Everyone kept stealing all my cash and using me for spamming and I really didn't know what to do, but after I saw this thread I decided to pick up the game again, and here I am! Now I'm playing it smart - always deleting my logs, and I'm already half way towards the next CPU upgrade, which should probably make my gaming way faster. I hope it'll also eliminate those times that while I'm waiting hours to update logs, people already find my IP.

I think I understand what you want to do, and I think it can easily be done with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and FSO (file system object). Do you have experience with these technologies? If not I can try to dig up my VB skills and conceive some code for you. I just don't understand by what order you're looking at the files in the directory. I mean, how would the code know to call Reportdummy.doc (the "first" file in the folder) by the spreadsheet value of Report1.doc. Why not call Charts102.xls Report1.doc (after all, C comes before R). I hope I understood your initial request correctly.

Whats The Name... sun microsystems credit card size computer
seec77 replied to mustra's topic in Hardware Workshop
I actually heard something about recent developments in bendable monitors. I might be hallucinating, or mis-remembering, but I think I recall something of a prototype of such a technology. Other than those things, the original poster sounds like my friend from the 3rd grade that told us that his dad is buying him a watch that comes equipped with scuba gear. Whatever... Edit: Woohoo! This seems very cool. -
Well, I tried, and I couldn't find anything to fit my needs. Have you got an idea for me? I would be eternally greatful if you did. Ubuntu doesn't seem to be working for me...

No, it's not part of the core Drupal (though I really think it should be ), but it has got such a heavy amount of interest, and a great community around it, that it will be a very short time after a new Drupal version comes out that Views will be compatible with it. In short, this is a module you really don't have to worry about. And besides, sometimes you can retain using the newest version for a while until all the modules you need get upgraded.

First of all, about Green Day. You seem like the type of people who think that the song "Time of Your Life" is actually called that. No way, it's called "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". Anyways, I used to be a real fan back in my totally punk times. I have all their 10 albums, starting with 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and going up to American Idiot. I believe that their first album (the one with the long name mentioned before) is their second best, beaten only by their second album, Kerplunk. These two are really good punk albums, and I have no idea why they didn't get as much exposure as Nimrod did (for example). I mean, yeah, they're not Dookie material (even though I don't like the album that much), but they're actually quite good. You guys should download some of these songs: At The Library, I Was There, Who Wrote Holden Caulfield, Disappearing Boy, and 2000 Light Years Away - all from the two first Green Day albums. And yes, I won't deny it that American Idiot is quite nice, but I just prefer the albums that preceded it. Now about the rock/rap debate. I don't know about you guys, but I have a hard time listening to rap. I mean, I might have just not found decent rap yet (really not interested in bling-bling rap and stuff), because I generally listen to a lot of things. On the other hand though, I can't really stand Led Zeppelin... and I know this might be a great "offense" to some people (or at least people I know - but it's all done with humour ), but they're too much of "straight" rock-'n-roll for me. My main listening styles are sort of post-punk, a bit of pop-punk, and all genres of progressive. I listen to some other stuff that I can't classify aswell. In terms of bands, it means things like Alkaline Trio, Coldplay, Dream Theater, Alter Bridge, Fall Out Boy, Genesis, Gentle Giant, lostprophets, Muse, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alan Parson's Project, and so on... So to summarize, I'm not going to choose any of those options. And besides, I really like some kinds of hip-hop.

Looks nice! I also signed up with Xisto to get my band a website, and we even have a domain, but no site yet. What kind of music do you guys play? And what do you do in the band? Anyways, about the site. It's quite great for an HTML beginner. Nothing too fancy! Plain and simple. I just have to point out that the closing tag for your <noscript> tag is missing the slash ('/'). BTW, I really think you should try out Drupal. It's a content management system (CMS), which means that even your co-members who are not quite as internet-savvy as you will be able to pretty easily add content/news/shows/songs to the site. Besides, it comes with some pretty kick-*bottom* themes, and you can download many more, which will leave you to just handle the content, instead of messing around with HTML. If you need help setting it up for your band just contact me through PM, Messenger or email (seec77@zahav.net.il). And to everyone: sorry for always evangelizing Drupal, I just like it so much.

I'm guessing that the Ubuntu installer is capable of repartitioning NTFS drives, but the problem is that you probably have to install the NTFS drivers for such capabilities - which is impossible for me because I don't have an internet connection, and to get an internet connection I need to find a USB drive, which I can't seem to do.
-
I have one word for you: Views. It's a great module that allows you to create a menu/block/page consisting of a listing of nodes (that follow a specific criteria). If you're having problems with it contact me.

Well, I've been trying to move on to Linux for ages now. My main problem right now is that I only have one hard drive, and it's (so thoughtfully of me) formatted to NTFS (). Now, I've run the Ubuntu 6.06 LiveCD, and I really liked it a lot, and I wanted to permanently install it on my computer (next to Windows XP)... but there's that NTFS problem. The installer couldn't repartition my hard drive! Now, I tried to install the NTFS drivers on Ubuntu, but I didn't have an internet connection there because Ubuntu didn't recognize my Edimax USB Wi-Fi adapter, of which a driver can be found here (I think). So here began my adventures of trying to download the driver onto Ubuntu. I couldn't just leave it on my hard drive and access it through the LiveCD because my disc is NTFS (). For some reason floppies didn't want to work. I tried burning the file on a seperate CD, but when I took out the LiveCD while in Ubuntu my system froze. Besides... I can't find any USB drive around the house. Now what was I supposed to do? So I left it alone for a while... I would die to have Linux finally installed on my desktop! I've been trying to do it for ages! And now, with Linux as easy to use as ever (Ubuntu really does rock from what I've seen on my computer, but it was a bit slow, I think because it was running from the CD), I really can't wait. Maybe I'll get a new hard drive or something. Anyways. I remember reading on their site about the shipIt program that they're packaging it all nicely and proffessional-looking so that it might appeal more to people. I mean, we die-hard computer geeks actually get turned on by blank CD-Rs, but if we're trying to evangelize Ubuntu, I think a box with a short manual in it, and a printed CD might actually prove really useful.

I think we should discuss this on CMS->Drupal so that if we're on to any valuable information, we'll be able to share it with the public. If you have any specific questions just post a thread there (and PM me a link ) and I'll answer. I feel like writing a Drupal Module Guide. I think I'll start working on that. If anyone is interested, PM me or contact me through MSN (check my profile).

You can use the DOM extensions to parse the HTML of the page, and then using SimpleXML or something just retrieve the title... quite easily. If you're interested write back and I'll help you through some code.

Techno Anyone? Or is it called Electronica? Dance?
seec77 replied to Captain Jerry's topic in General Discussion
Wow, I'm sorry, but this song really sucks. I don't know, this might be really bad techno, or not my type of techno (which I haven't found yet), but this song made me feel absolutely nothing. I'm guessing in a crowded and sweaty club with tons of other people this song could get people dancing, but really, how far can you take this genre? I mean, I'm a darn musician, I can listen to the little details in a song, and I can analyze the musical/rythmic structure of it, but I just found absolutely nothing special about this song. No build up of tension/releasing, and nothing to keep the ear focused. I guess I'll put my Dream Theater back on. -
Can't say enough good things about Drupal, really. Just so easy to install, and it has absolutely everything I need! I haven't yet had to open a PHP file to insert a new feature, because there are modules for almost anything you can dream of! You should really check out Drupal, and if anyone is wanting to try out Drupal, contact me, as I have some suggestions for various modules and other little pointers. Some things I really like about Drupal: Everything is a node. Maybe this is a bit of a programmer's POV, but I really like how everything is object-oriented in approach. I mean, a blog post inherits all the properties of the main node class (theoretically, I don't think it actually works like this programming-wise), and so does every other piece of content on your website (except maybe comments, but even forums/topics/messages are considered nodes). You can also create new nodes using the Content Construction Kit (CCK), and then make your own dynamic pages using the Views module. It is really easy to make your own templates to fit in with the rest of the site. The site lets you define special regions, which can be given "blocks" (that you can create yourself with Views) without doing any programming, but by only using the administrator interface. Besides, you can choose from a number of different templating engines (I've been looking for ages for a CMS that supports Smarty for ages until I found Drupal). The variety of modules let you use your CMS for anything you need, and nothing more. The built-in taxonomy module is great for categorization, and even though the forums module is a bit lacking, the image gallery is great, and so is the blogs module that lets each of your website's users (or the ones you choose) create their own blogs.

Well, as I see it, the fact that consoles cost less than PCs is highly irrelevant, because I'm guessing that over 90% of the console users also have normal computer right in the same room. Not to mention that some of the 3rd generation consoles are going to warrant new television sets from addictive gamers. Me, not being a gamer at all, can't see any value to the console above the PC. Maybe it's got a better selection of games (I hated playing GTA on the computer, but loved it on the PS2), but you can buy a computer, and if you're not a die-hard gamer, still receive the same amount on entertainment. Really, how would you gamers persuade me, a really not addictive gamer (although I wouldn't mind a nice RPG from time to time), to buy a console?

PHP on Windows is always compiled with everything on, as far as I know. I think vujsa was pointing out this line: Those two libraries can be found in your base PHP installation directory, next to the PHP executables. Just copy (don't move) them to your "C:\Windows\System32". Maybe you can add the PHP installation directory to your computer's path settings, but I think that the first option is better.

OK, first let's get one thing straight ('cause I keep mixing it up). PEAR is a repository for PHP libraries, written in PHP code, while PECL is a repository of PHP extensions, written in C++ and compiled to DLL files (for Windows). Just download the collection of PECL modules for PHP 5.1.4, which has all the usual standard PECL extensions (you won't need other PECL extensions for most PHP programs) and unzip it into the "ext" folder inside your PHP installation directory. Now all you have to do is go into your "php.ini" configuration file, and search for "Dynamic Extensions", and under it you'll find lots of lines that begin with ";extension = " and then the name of an extension, so just uncomment (remove the semi-colon at the beginning) the extensions you want. Be aware though that some extensions rely on other extensions, so if after you enable a few extensions PHP won't start, try pinpointing the specific extension (turn PHP on with less extensions) and post back! Good luck!

Windows Live Messenger 8 Final Release
seec77 replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yay! I just downloaded it a few minutes ago, and I must say I was definately impressed! Really great new features from what I've seen so far (in the last hour or so), and here are some of my faves: Now when you've scrolled up in a conversation window but someone sends you a message it doesn't scroll down automatically, but the scroll to the bottom button (also new) flashes. I've been waiting for this for so long! Giving nicknames to people on your contact list. This is really great! I finally don't have to use MSN Plus! (which doesn't support Live yet, BTW) to do this. This feature lets you give your own names to your contacts, so you won't have to remember who "Right on Time" is anymore, as he'll appear as "Marco" (). Haven't really had a chance to check out the shared folders (or whatever it's called in English... I'm using the Hebrew interface), but it seems promising. It lets you create share folders with specific contacts, and then every file you put in that folder is accessable by that contact. I can't really think of a reason to use this instead of normal file sharing (which is still slow... ), but whatever. Besides all those, the Messenger interface just got even better! It's really appealing and easy to use, and now it's so easy to manage your contact list. You also have a little search bar above the list to skim the list down to a few contacts, just like in iTunes, for those of us with bombastic contact lists. I tried GTalk a few days ago, but something was definately missing there (maybe RTL support... ), so I'm going to be sticking to Microsoft's Messenger for the time being, especially with the whole Live thing now. -
The first beta of the new phpBB3 was released on the 17th of June, and it seems quite promising. Personally, I've been waiting for this release for so long, and I'm so glad it's finally here! I've had the pleasure of installing this software on my local machine (and let me tell you, as far as phpBB2 was easy to install, phpBB3 is even easier). Lots of great new features, and if anyone is looking for a forum I can now whole-heartedly recommend this thing! What do you guys think? What feature did you like best? I liked the fact that the Administrator/User/Moderator Control Panels can be managed without turning to the software's code, but through the ACP. Besides, they've integrated a lot of integral features that if you wanted to use with version 2.x.x you would have to rely on complex MODs that take a long time to install (attachements and sub-forums/categories are great additions). It seems the bugs in this release are being worked out very quickly, and my experience with it, even at this stage, was great! Unfortunately I've already migrated to using Drupal for my sites, but this is just nice knowing that I have a powerful BBS at my disposal if I'll ever need such one. Anyways: See the announcement here: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=400283 Download phpBB 3.0 Beta1 here: https://www.phpbb.com/development/

I really don't know if this is the reason, but try using the PHP 5.1.4 version of the Apache module, as it seems that PHP works alright but the connection to Apache is lacking. Or better yet, just download the newest PHP version and check if that works... it should. I got CURL running on Apache2 + PHP 5.x.x quite easily (just downloaded everything from PECL... or is that PEAR?)Good luck!
-
I don't get it. Do you want to install all the above 3 softwares? Anyways... usually advice for instalilng these types of programs can be found in the README file inside the program's zip file (I know phpBB is like that), and the installation is usually quite easy.
-
I don't know about using CPanel's Fantastico, but try out Drupal. It's a great CMS system and it's really a breeze to install! Anyways, I just think that content should be presented with content management systems, while blogs and rants should be presented with blog software. Drupal will really give you anything and everything you want... including a blog! There are so many modules and translations for it, and it's just so easy to use. Really, it could just be everything you want it to be.

Hi This Is My Site tell me what do you think about
seec77 replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
No! Absolutely not! Just said I can't bear listening to metalcore music (your site is the official site of a metalcore band, ain't it?). I like other types of music though...
