  1. I vaguely remember playing ET on an old Atari when I was a kid. That game sucked by the way, if you never played it. After that I got an NES which I later sold (I wish I had it back though). Then I got SNES for Christmas one year. That was my favorite system ever, and I still have it and play it every now and again. Also had:N64 w/ expansion RAMPlaystation - bought it used from a friendregular GameBoyGame GearGameBoy Advance SP - which I love!PC - which is great because of Guild Wars!and then a GameCube, which I have to say I'm rather dissappointed in.Oh, I also have a Virtual Boy that I got as a present one year. Anyone else remember Nintendo Virtual Boy?
  2. I love old games. My favorite console is Super Nintendo and I still go back and play through some of my SNES games. Some favorites are FF3, Chrono Trigger, Act Raiser, and Gradius III. My old roommate had an atari and I loved to play Missile Command on it....now I'm feeling nostalgic
  3. I have that game. I remember going through a bunch of tutorials and still not quite understanding how it works. I don't think I ever ended up with a very strong grasp of the gameplay. It was not one of my favorites
  4. The pvp aspect of the game is quite special. However, you're right about a lot of players ignoring the strategy aspect. I can't emphasize enough that if you want to play the pvp side of the game, you need to get involved with a decent guild. Preferably one using voice chat. Pvp matches are a very rewarding experience when you're on an organized team that can respond and counter opposing strategies. I don't think you mentioned what pvp arenas you were playing. But if it was random arena, then you haven't really experienced Guild Wars pvp. Random arena is just for fun, quick, skirmish type battles. Don't expect to find much in the way of strategy there. If you can find your way into a decent guild and participate in a guild vs. guild match, you will see the depth of the pvp gameplay.
  5. Agreed. It looks nice, but also a little unfinished. I definately like the font and tree, they have a nice Tim Burton feel to them. But I wouldn't mind a little something more filling in all that white space. Definately a good start!
  6. I love Guild Wars and have been playing since early beta. However, it certainly isn't for everyone. Guild Wars main focus is on acheiving balance between character classes to allow for greater competitiveness in pvp. You cannot reach ultra high lvls (in fact it caps at 20) and you cannot attain uber items. The reason for this is because the end game focuses on pvp rather than pvp, and the design team wanted characters to be on equal terms so that skill would determine the winner rather than who played long enough to acquire the most uber items.Pvp in Guild Wars is incredibly deep, and is closer to a FPS than an RPG. A large amount of pvp is strategy. Each character is dual classed with access to 150 unique skills a piece, allowing for a very large number of possible character combinations. However, of the 150, you can only bring 8 at a time. This requires you to rely on your teammates in order to achieve your goals.Pve, on the other hand, isn't as strong and is why I said this game won't be for everyone. This is not to say that the pve is bad, just not as good as some other MMOs. Some of the pve seems rather redundant and many of the enemy character models are reused several times throughout the game. The story isn't bad, but its presentation is. In the end, the pve is good enough that you'll probably enjoy it the first time through, but will probably not have much replayability. Hopefully, this will change with the release of Guild Wars Factions, which looks awesome so far!
  7. Wow thanks! I haven't started my site yet so these should be very useful. I especially liked freshtemplates.com and notemplates.com. Both look like they have really good content.
  8. I'm not sure which parts you're talking about in the bible, but I'm thinking that God only gives his name once in the Old Testament. And he calls Himself YHWH, or 'I Am'. No, you can believe in the New Testament and not be Christian. A Christian believes that Christ existed, was the Son of God, and accepts Him as their savior.
  9. I guess I could see it happening. I know people who have lost their jobs due to being addicted to MMO's. I'm pretty sure that two days of no food or water wouldn't be enough to kill most people, but if he already had heart problems I suppose it's possible. And, as others have said, I don't think the news article was insinuating that WoW was the cause of death. But that his death was an indirect result of his addiction to WoW.
  10. I'm slightly skewing off topic, but didn't want to make a new thread just for this question. I've heard that some search engines are reluctant to post sites from free hosting sources. Does anyone know the likelihood of getting an Xisto site listed?
  11. I would be interested to know how you came to that conclusion. I guess I believe in guided evolution. God created all the processes and interactions that we call 'science', it only makes since to me that he would work through his creation. So, imo, God created the process of evolution with the intention that human beings would be the result. I see no reason why science and religion can't work hand in hand.
  12. I believe they are one in the same. IMO, God is not cruel, vindictive, or bloodthirsty in the Old Testament. He creates the universe and all life, he starts the Exodus from Egypt; hardly the acts of a cruel God. I can understand your view, being that we do witness much of God's wrath in the Old Testament. However, it is important to note that this wrath is directed only at sinners. We also witness many acts of God attempting to aid people like Noah and Abraham. There are many stories in the Old Testament about groups of people who fell into sin and stopped believing in God, and so God punished them as an example for the rest of us. I suppose you could view this as vindictive, but I don't believe that is the intent. God loved us as much in the Old Testament as he does in the New. Most of the Old Testament is about establishing order and law, and in order for people to follow the law, they must fear the repercussions of not following it. This is why Christians are considered 'God fearing'. Because a man who doesn't fear God has no reason to follow his rules.
