I Just Got A Email From FBI
Shooting Star Haven replied to jedipi's topic in Security issues & Exploits
The Internet has a term for this. It's called Social Engineering. Basically, they send you some kind of email like this and they try to leech some information about you, like your password and such. Some hackers use this wily method to get people's passwords. Telemarketers do so too. I believe the guy who went down in history for this is Kevin Mitnick. I did a report on him for school once. Mitnick managed to even hack Pac Bell using his skills in this field. He's in jail, I think. When Mitnick gets out, he's going to publish his book called The Art of Deceiving.Social Engineering is partly based on trust. It is the natural human mindset to trust people at times. But yeah, if something like this worked on Pac Bell, this probably would work on others. -
I've decided to make a thread where people can share all their tips on designing a forum signature graphic. I think it'll be beneficial for striving signature makers. So anyway, here are my tips:1) Always give your signature a one pixel black border unless you're using lighting effects. That always make your signature look good.2) Don't use really bright colors as your background. Bright colors hurt people's eyes. Colors like gray, blue or green would work.3) Always use a one pixel border for your text.4) Renders are recommended if you're a member of the community. It should be avoided if you're part of the staff.Got any other tips for signature? Share them here!

I wonder, did anyone's site get deleted? I know your site will be wiped out by -30 credits so why do people continue losing to -3245 or something like that? Nevertheless, I recommend everyone make back-ups of their site every once in a while. You never really know what might happen.I hope everyone affected by the time change will have their problems solved. Good luck with everything.

Looking past the low prices, eBay is a marketing based trap. Some people might wonder why the heck would anyone sell prices that low? I mean, $0.01 cents? Some items are reserved. That means if you don't bid up to a set price not displayed, then the vender has the right to not sell you their garbage. That makes some feel jipped. And if you ever manage to get a good deal on something (like a computer), you have to deal with shipping charges. Some sellers overcharge their shipping prices. I know people that do so. And if you're really unlucky, you might end up with a broken computer. And with the no refunds, the only thing you have to fight back with is giving bad feedback, which nobody ever looks at nowadays.EBay sucks! If you shop there long enough, you'll probably get cheated one day. Instead, I recommend Amazon.com. Stuff there is really cheap! I buy books there often. Even the used books look new! Check it out. You might find something you'll like.

The average site never even use 20 Megs of space. 150 Megs is really a decent amount. And about ads, I really don't like them. It's really a pain. No one wants to go to a site with ads on them. But the real difference between Xisto and Xisto.net is the availability of CPanel. CPanel is one of the most useful control panels in existence. I've tried it before. Additionally, you get the same hosting package in Xisto as in Xisto - Web Hosting (the paid company of Xisto). Having something like that without paying for it makes you feel special, doesn't it?333 Megs of Storage is a lot, but who really uses it all? I'd personally prefer 150 Megs with CPanel any day. You'll only need a lot of space if you're planning on making a site on warez. In that case, you should buy your own server on eBay.150 Megs is really hard to use up, if used in a decent manner. For example, instead of using the pre-installed scripts (like blogs and forums) find a free source.

Flock probably won't ever get any better than Mozilla Firefox. I really don't even think it can get as good as Internet Explorer! I've never even heard the name before. Flock will probably never get popular among the Internet. And plus, Firefox will always be the best product. In Gmail's homepage ( https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&continue= https://mail.google.com/mail/ ), it says that Firefox scored first in the most useful products of 2005. Because of that, I recently decided to try Firefox. And it was so much better than Internet Explorer! I'd recommend Firefox over any browser. You can download it at: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

As I gazed upon the news yesterday, I discovered something about the brand new Xbox 360 console, the successor to Xbox. It turns out that some systems lock up during gameplay. But the good news is, Microsoft is trying to fix this problem. When they do, they'll either fix all the consoles or exchange it for a new one.Personally, I'm really not surprised that this happened. I mean, Bill Gates (the dude in charge of Microsoft) decided to release their console before the competition had a chance to launch theirs off. So buyers of the Xbox 360 will already be satiated with their console, and decide not to waste money on any other consoles. Some people wanted to get this console first before anyone else. That's basically a way of saying, "Ha! I got this cool thing before you did!" That's really a choice of nature (a way of being superior than another), and also is quite stupid too, since they're now stuck with a glitched up model. The reason you should never buy a console when it first comes out is because it just came off right the market. Buying the system now means you get the oldest version. The gaming industry occasionally updates their product. They make better ones later on.Additionally, after you buy the console, all you have is a console! The games are still being developed. Usually on the day of the release, the system just has about five games to it's name. The five games are usually made to keep the players busy while they pave the way to better games currently being worked on. So you just blow off fifty bucks on the worst games out. Xbox 360's Call of Duty 2 is decent. But Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is almost as good and can be obtained for PS2, GameCube or Xbox instead. So yeah, the moral is, don't get new consoles the day it is released. Otherwise, your games might lock up like it does on the current version of Xbox 360 or the old version of PS2.

First of all, I can tell you that the banner looks very nice. Well done on that part! The layout's not half bad either. So that's not a problem. What I think you should really be focusing on is the content. I mean, the purpose of a site isn't to show exceptional skills on designing, despite what others may believe. The design is just there to look nice. But about the content, yes it sounds very professional but there's not much else about it. It's lacking humor, entertainment, disgust, tastes, and really nothing to keep visitors from coming back for. If I were you, I'd add an articles section. Something to talk about what your site is based on. You can even write about the colors that really would mess up a design. There is a site that you should look at as a good example: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Not only is that site based on animation, it also reflects a lot of style. And it's funny too. Your site would turn out well modeled after emoticon-rampage. That's just my opinion though.
