  1. hi,This is a nice change from looking for the delete/move to trash option in the drop down list. At the the most used options should be easily accessible. I love Gmail and the changes and fine tuning is improving the gmail experienceCheers,Himanshu
  2. Hi friends,The new video capability on the Ipod is a nice feature. I was planning on an Ipod for a while and waited since the rumors of video were going around. Now I m happy that I waited. I have got a video Ipod and believe me that though it is not anything like watching on a big screen, it is quite nice to have that capability on the move. It is still a great music player with video feature added. The price of the earlier 20 GB ipod was the same as the current 20 GB video version.. so people are getting 10 GB extra storage and video capabilty at the same price.(of course they have excluded power adapter from the accessories : $30).. but still good enough if you ask me...Also there is no compulsion to use the feature just coz its there....btw.. the length and width are same as the previous ipod.. the width looks more just coz the screen is wider and the space around the screen is less. The smaller scroll wheel also makes it look wider...The sound quality on the ipod is gr8 as in the previous versions, and with video I am not complaining...Cheers,Himanshu
  3. I suppose Netbeans is from Sun... I personally have been using Eclipse for quite a while and there are a number of plugins available for it... It works quite well and has low system requirement.. I mean less RAM and so on.. so works well on a little older systems as well...But finally the choice is an individuals as different people tend to like different features... :DCheers,Himanshu
  4. I have personally used php-nuke and mambo and loved mambo above all the cms that I have used. Now coming to the forum system, Invision was good when free.. but now it is not so I have stopped using it.. I tried VBulletin and SMF but liked SMF more.. (no particular reason).. maybe coz SMF integrates well with my Mambo site and the bridge functions quite well...what else... Cheers,Himanshu
  5. yeah, the new look is sleek. I have used a few email services earlier with the same look. But they take a more time to load and become irritating after some time. Hope Yahoo does something to improve the load times coz.. Gmail is pretty fast with only CSS and very few images.Even the ads are text based whereas in yahoo/hotmail etc the number of images slow down the mail system i.e, take more time to load. This could be easily noticed if you use a dial up connection or something not as fast as a DSL or 256 Kbps connection...They would need to balance the performance and looks somewhere. To try a similar look go to http://unitedemailsystems.com/. It is a free 3GB email service provider with very nice interface, almost like MS outlook and the menu and other stuff..For now its wait and watch. As the Email war heats up, the ultimate benefit will be to the end user like us.... Cheers.
  6. hi friends, I posted the following security exploit in IE at Xisto but missed out posting it here. Click here for the actual post: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/27178-topic/ Pass this information on to create an awareness of the same. Safe Browsing, Cheers.
  7. I have been using Eclipse for over an year now and am very comfortable with the tool. It is one of the best IDE even taking into account a few of the commercial ones also. It is a freeware and moreover does not eat away too much of memory, ie. light on system load. The number of plugins available for eclipse make it more flexible in terms of usability as only those plugins that are required can be put in and used thus reducing load..Cheers,Himanshu
  8. hi,MySql is a very good database and best of all it comes free. Earlier this had a problem of no support for stored procedures. But MySql 5.0 onwards it does support stored procedures. Though I am not sure whether it supports triggers/cursors.Cheers,Himanshu
  9. yup, the best way to hide files is definitely encryption. One way I used to do was using winrar.Just using winrar, compress the file using a password. while doing it there is an option to encrypt file names a well. So without a password one cannot even open the file to c the filenames unlike winzip where filenames are visible. Now open this .rar file in a text editor and remove the first 4 characters in the header , should be something like "Rar!". Save it to the disk. Now rename it to some other extension. Most of the filters too would not be able to get through this.Cheers,Himanshu
  10. hi,I agree just like everyone else here to that Gmail is the best free email provider around(even better than a lot of paid ones).A few points in Gmail's favor:1. The search technology is Google so it does give out excellent results.2. The labelling scheme instead of the folders allow a mail to be grouped under multiple heads unlike folders where u can move it only into a single folder.3. The space is increasing though I have never used more than a few MBs.4. The interface is very clean and simple.5. The keyboard shortcuts is a nice feature.6. The free POP3 and mail forwarding.7. And no advertisement in the mails that are sent from this service.Cheers.Himanshu
