  1. I used to play awhile back, i stopped playing around the time they took the scope off the M4...I tried it again with CS Source when i got HL2, and it was fun for a bit, but it's basically more of the same... I get bored easily, and CS isn't exactly the most dynamic game in the world.
  2. Well, I've always enjoyed Earthworm Jim for some odd reason, he's just such a weird videogame character, along with the entire game really. Hmmm, i like a lot of different game characters for different reasons, but can'y really think of one in particular i like more than the rest.
  3. I found character creation and interaction a lot funner in the Sims 2, and i found building houses and devlopment in the original sims more fun... I just don't feel Sims 2 has enough content to keep me interested. I find that you can tell that they left a lot of things out JUST to be able to cash in on the expansions, which i suppose is good marketing to some extent, but still left me feeling dry.
  4. I spent some time with Mercenaries for a bit, but found i couldn't get into it as much as mechwarrior 3 or 2 for that matter. I just don't find the fights as engaging as it's ancestors :DFun for what it is, but not something i'd still play now.
  5. Well i gave muonline a try and was really dissapointed, I had no idea what was going on, no one would respond to chat messages, and pretty much everything in the game seemed kind of pointless and mute. Even following the controls in the help file, i wasn't able to use my special attack, i just stand there like a dunce. Then I decided to give Ragnarok a try, and couldn't deal with the having to level just to be able to do silly things like emotes and team invites :SSo in conclusion, 2 down, a few more to go
  6. I still prefer to play starcraft over a lot of the more modern RTS games. Starcraft allows me to build huge defense and slowly creep up to their front door. I find that many of the more modern RTS rely on a rock/paper/scissors offense, with a lack of defensive structures and units. Although the graphics are out dated, they are still nicely animated and interesting.
  7. I'm definitly a Need for Speed Underground 2 fan. It's fast paced, stylish and the audio sound effects in the game are amazing, and really immerse you in the experience. It may not be the most realistic racer out there, but for me it's the most fun. Nothing quite beats hitting the Nitrous and haveing everythng blur around you as you take a jump.
  8. For creating it digitally, you coud use the KPT gel filter, but I don't think you'd get the desired effect. Another way would be to render it in a 3D modeling program. And then for those so artistically inclined, you could illustrae/paint it yourself. I'll stick to photography, much easier.
  9. Looks like an interesting piece of software, would be of great benefit for those wanting to get their feet wet in game making. It would help with the conceptual process and making something playable and fun.I might give it a whirl if I ever get some free time.
  10. Heh, although I'm not a huge DDR fan, I do have some interesting stories about DDR. Me and my buddy were in the mall one time, and headed up to the arcade to get change for the bus, and noticed like swarms of people around this game, sweaty, with towels, water bottles.. and we were like confused to put it lightly. Now these people are what I'd like to call the steretypical gamers, long hair, slightly overweight and riddled with acne (no offense). And we sat and watched them play for like 20 minutes or so and decided that we'd give it a shot. Now both of us are quite talented breakdancers, so we though.. easy... game comes, on freaking 180 BPM, and arrows flying everywhere... wow... ... i think both os us ended up with seizures broken ankles. So anyways, i don't know how those people do it... but I sure as hell am not getting on one of these machines again.
  11. I'll have to check those out sometime, but in between working and all my other games it's hard to test new things sometimes. Also for a free game, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is fun as well.
  12. Well as a designer doing it for living, PCs have really caught up to Macs in terms of graphics, audio ect, and the difference between the two are pretty much negligible... Although Macs do seem to still be better for doing video work. Now the debate between the powerbook and desktop model, if you prefer the powerbook, but fare running out of space, there is always room for expansion, USB drives, external drives ect.I love macs, but to tell you the truth I spend most of my time working on the PC for graphics.
  13. That's quite incredible, things keep getting more powerful and compact it seems. Once a viable PC gaming rig is shrunk to somethin i can manage to fit in a back pack i'll be more than happy (i am aware of the fragbox and laptops..). I'd still like to see a foldable monitor of some sort, it'd be great for LAN parties for those of us that don't drive, and frequent public transit or use bikes. I guess I'll have to start engineering in my basement on the perfect gaming computer that's compact. The only thing I worry about all of these small gadgets is losing them, I've already lost my Game Boy Advance, and a 512 Flash drive... I'd hat to lose a $2000 computer on the bus...
  14. As already mentioned, it all depends on compression and video quality, but as a general rule, i usually go with 1MB - 1 minute for my video work (but i also use a high qulaity standard). Now If i have a lot of video, and expect a good number of people viewing the clips, you'll be eating up a lot of bandwitdh quickly.500/20 = 25So if each visitor views each video, you can get 25 visitors before hitting the bandwidth cap.If you want to archive the videos for view, you'd probably be better off hosting them yourself and pointing people to your own personal server.
  15. I like lots of different FPS games for a variety of different reasons. I'll just compile a list of them and say what I like about each.Ghost Reacon - Small squad movements, and playing this game online in co-op mode is highly entertaining, nothing quite as rewarding as working together and getting things done right.Half Life 2 - Excellent story driven game, really good at creating atmosphere and mood. Playing with the physics in the game is rewarding and hilarious at times.Unreal Tournament 2004 - For a quick twitch fest and high paced gameplay, this game can't be beat. High powered weaponary, flashy graphics and not to mention the new gamemodes are fun.Battlefield 1/2 - This game is what you make f it really, you can be the solo gunman or work with others as a team. I usually play this game amongst some real life friends with headsets and totally have a blast, you really can lose track of time playing this one...Quake 2 - As far as classics go, this one is by far the funnest for me, rocket jumps, rail gunz, cooked grenades.. fun. Some worthy mentions: May Payne 2, Dark Forces, America's Army.
  16. Wow, even after years of using computers inside and out, you can learn something new. Very useful, as i've always wanted to be able to do this, but I guess I was too lazy to actually find a way. Thanks now I can set up my comp to be an overpriced alarm clock But in all seriousness it'll definitly be handy in doing maintence while Im either asleep or away.
  17. Wow, although I haven't really followed the series since Resident Evil 2, I must say that this one has caught my interest. I found the more recent RE games didn't have that some eerie feeling as the first one. I remember playing that at night alone, and would have to stop playing for a sec to check the windows and doors
  18. I've always liked the Eldar Scrolls series of games, I have Arena and Morrowind both installed currently and continue to play both on a semi regular basis. As for the new game coming out, I think I'll need to upgrade my computer somewhat in order to take advantage of the new eye candy. It simply looks amazing.
  19. Wow, Ultima Online.. didn't even realize people were still playing this game. It's definitly a classic, probably the birth of the modern mmorpg, and probably the birth of modern mmorpg problems (lag, disconnects, server crashing). I dabbled in the lands of Ultima Online for a short time, it wasn't my thing, I never did understand the game or what to do.Although i do see the appeal, just not my thing I guess.
  20. Hmm, as already mentioned, an FTP would probably the best solution in transfering files back and forth. I don't fully understand why you'd need to fully type out the name of the web address each time if you both have access to the file list on the site?
  21. I find I am able to create a nice clean layouot, with the tips you've given, but I always have trouble updating the content on a regular or even semi-regular basis. So I am left with a site that is sticky for maybe 2-3 months, then fades away. My latest project involves more "user" content along with more interaction than my previous site projects, and a lot of work is going into the planning stages. Now, mind you I am a self taught web page dabbler, and would like to improve. So learning all this PHP and CSS, and how databases work is a bit of an overload of information.. so I am taking it slow. Those are some great tips though, thanks.
  22. I've tried a plethora of free hosts and even paid hosts over the years, and from my experience, most lack one feature or another that I'd like to implement, IE, the ones with PHP support requirean activation fee, unlimited webspace, but no files over a certain size and no PHP support.. ect...As for paid hosting, I find recommendations from other sites are usually how I decide on that.As for this site, I wasn't even aware it offered free web hosting until I started reading (yes i am that daft at times). What i look for in a webhost is:- moderate webspace (75-200MB)- medium to high bandwidth- database support of some kind- no pop ups (ads are alright to an extent.. but popups... urgh)- easy to remember domains (none of this domains.cc.12.com/yoursitename)- great customer supportPS: I love the concept behind this site, it's like a co-op, and i love co-ops..... i think i have some socialist/commie tendencies
  23. Ahhh Freelancer. I love how it can be as intense or casual as you want it to be really. You could fly for hours and not get bored, and i did. I used to love flying from Toyko to Manhatten on trade runs. The various mods gave pretty much endless replay value as well, new ships and enemies, weapons and more.I may give it a go again now that I am reminded.
  24. I've been playing Anarchy Online for 6 months now (when they introduced the free subscription). It's pretty intense, 10 character classes to choose from (12 if you get the expansions which aren't free). A huge gaming world and lots of things to do. The learning curve I find is somewhat high, and it's good to find someone nice to help you out. I have upgraded my account to all expansions, so I do pay monthly, but it's worth it, the expansions open up a lot of new content. give it a go http://www.anarchy-online.com/ You can PM me if you have any questions or need a guide in game.
  25. Did you do the illustrations yourself? As a flyer, it does what it's supposed to do, although the text may be hard to read among the image. You could try fading the image somewhat. As for the website at the bottom, really can't make it out.
