We are not so subjected to Ghetto Slang in New Zealand, so it is no so much of an issue here. Although we always get the few who try to find some sense of identity by imitating (aping?) what they see in movies and TV. Our main issue is that we have a growing trend of reducing the written language to teletex form. Using teletexting is very popular because it is a cheap way of communicating. It seems that some people get so use to using teletext abbreviations that they also use it in their emails and their letters to other people. I have seen an application form send to an employer mostly written in TXT. I don't know what the result of the application was, but I am pretty sure that there was no interview follow-up. Well this is progress!!. I found the cpanel (I am even getting used to the jargon). Now I am faced with an array of confusing choices. I dont want to spend the rest of my life learning how to use every single feature of "cpanel". I am a simple person. I get in, I find a file manager, Idownload my website and I go back and edit the relevant parts of the page that needing editing. Perhaps I am not cut out to this multitude of choices stuff. I think I will look around for something more simple and straitforward to use.

I came unstuck on the downloading of my website but got a helpfull post to get me back on track. So far the experience has been very good. No reason why yours will not be the same. I am also new at website design so maybe we can exchange info.

This may be teething woes of a newby but today I got my approval for free webhosting which is great. I am very pleased about that. Problem is that I can't for the life of me find a way to go to the file directory of my new URL in the server to load my website and to carry out edits if I need to. I have never come across a more confusing web hosting facility!!

I am interested in finding out why there is such a bad reaction to Ebay. There was a time when articles sold there were second hand but my understanding is that now a days most electronic gadgets including ipods are brand new on the original box with a full manufacturers guarantee. It seems to me that Ebay cuts all all the expensive middle men and the need for the consumer to pay for the luxury of the main street shops and instead offers the product direct from the manufacturer to the consumer. Is it more to do with the traders operating in Ebay? Are there too many rip off artists operating in Ebay? Or has Ebay a low reputation in the Marketplace. I am from New Zealand, Ebay has a very good reputation here.

Thank you for your suggestin. I had a look a Ebay yesterday and there was a member from China selling ipods for $45 each. No trackrecord of feedbacks, and wanted the payment in postal money order. Highly suspicious I though. Any suggestions for other types of MP3 players?

I agrre with the findings, however it is a matter of awareness a lot of the time. We have been conditioned to answer the phone wehn it rings. It is like an automatic reaction even when we are driving. When making a call I can not physically dial up use the steering wheel and change gears! To try to do all 3 things is the dangerous bit. Perhaps that message can be put out more strongly

I guess it all comes down to how much time you have to spend on trying to figure things out, which I personally find very frustrating. I am all for the FP interface which is quite intuitive and easy to use on the spot. I am not a discipline step by step thinker. I find that very tedious. I go in do my edits, finish my website and out again in the shortest possible time. I can do that easily with FP.

I am looking at getting an ipod mini 4gb but the differences in prices are qyite staggering. In a retail shop I have been asked $250. In an internet cyber shop I can get them for $185, if I go to Ebay and check out the ipods the range there is from $100 to $145. Has anybody bought any ipods from Ebay? What is the feedback?

I agree with the conclussions of the study. It is a difficult message to get across to the public. In many ways we have been programmed to respond immediatly to a ringing telephone. Not many people will reflect that they can pick up the message later. If I need to make a call while driving I have to pull up and stop somewhere. I am only a male, I can only do one thing at the time. To hold a steering wheel, change gears and dial up a telephone requires three hands. I only have two hands and a small brain!

I have downloaded about six free website templates now and find that using FP is a breeze to edit, fill with content and graphics and to publish. I find dreamweaver not user friendly. It takes me ages to figure out what to do and find the experience quite frustrating
