Haha... thats quite funny! Who would have guessed that the moon is made of ... Oh well... suppose most people will never know what the moon is *really* made of, let alone even bother thinking about it. Thanks for the link, it was quite cool!

I have an xfx 7800gtx nVidia card in my machine, and this thing runs super fast. I have not had any problems yet, I have tested it with quite a few games and it is superb! I have always been more for nVidia cards than Ati. My machine is setup with a dual boot with fedora linux, so the fact that nVidia releases drivers is really neat. Although one update not long ago phreaked out... But that was easily fixed. Eventually I might upgrade to sLi but for the time being, this card is fast enough for anything I need. What do people think about the new "crossfire" setup that ati is releasing? As far as I know, it is similar to sLi but nowhere near as good. Any thoughts? Oh yeah, my vote is with nVidia all the way!

I have to agree with broli, try Firefox, at least while you wait for the new Internet Explorer. I mean, you may find that you do not like Firefox, and that is your choice. But to be honest, its lot better than the current IE. It is a very nice, fast browser with a lot of nifty features and plugins. And its comes with a google toolbar built in! I'm not too sure about the whole firefox doesn't fully close down thing. I check my processes fairly often and I have never seen it stay running after closing.

Phishing In Myspace Any users of myspace should have a read.
optykal replied to optykal's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Ahhh yes, but there are other ways that you can be affected. What about if a person posted something like this on one of your friends pages? As soon as you look at their page, you will be redirected to the fake login page. This is how most people are being affected. They just assume that they have to type their username and password in to continue. I'm sorry I didn't make this clear in my earlier post. -
I really like that 'pi' url... that is quite clever, a friend showed me it a few years ago. I'm not so keen on the curch url though. It all seems a little pointless if you ask me. And what is it with these towns trying to have the longest name? If I lived in the town, I dont think that i would really enjoy it all that much! Oh well, whatever makes em happy I suppose! Im not sure that its possible, if you read here... Email from Guiness World Records But it could be cool just to say, hey check out my huge url!

A friend of mine had some trouble with a guy posting comments on her myspace page. He posted messages that once loaded into the users browsers, would redirect the user back to the myspace login page. I checked it out and found out that it was more than a little problem. The message that was posted on the page was a simple flash object that seems to be hosted on: I cracked the flash file, it doesn't have a lot to it, all it has is some actionscript: getURL(" "_parent", "GET"); What this means is that every time someone goes to a page where he has embeded the swf in a message, they will be redirected to: And in case u were wondering, this page looks exactly like the myspace page... BUT ITS NOT!!! They spoofed the page. (Apart from the spoofstick notification, looking at the source code, was a dead give away) <h2>Member Login</h2><form action="steal.php" method="post" name="theForm" id="theForm"> The action=" " should be something like action="index.cfm?fuseaction=login.process" Basically, this means that the person who recieves the post of the script will have the username and password of the person trying to access myspace through this page. This is a pretty serious issue for people using any sites really, not just myspace. Its not a hard thing for joe anybody to do. If you are unsure of a site, then I would suggest using something like SpoofStick. This works as a toolbar for IE or Firefox and can show you the actual site that you are on.

I was also considering going to a watercooling setup when I upgraded. I opted out of doing so because I was too scared of destroying my system and also because I found a really good silent case (antec p180) that could handle my machine. Im not sure what you are running, but i have a fairly beefy system and it runs suprisingly well on air. If you do decide to set up watercooling in your box, then make sure u run it for a few hours (at least) without the system on, then if you find any leaks, u can fix them and test again. If this causes any of you parts to become wet, then just let them dry out fully before you turn ur system on and you should be fine. As malish mentioned, the thermaltake systems do seem to be pretty good! Watercooling is still just a bit beyond me just yet.

I currently have 2 computers built up: (and a heap of spare parts)Desktop: (I use for 3d modelling and graphic design)Home built in antec p180 case.AMD 4800+ (dual-core)Asus A8N-sli deluxNvidia 7800GTX 256meg (single at the moment)2x200gig W/D SATA-II HDD2x36gig W/D Raptor HDD (raid-0) - for system files2 x Samsung 193P+ (19inch) LCD Monitors2gig (2x1gig) Corsair RAMLaptop: (Use on the train, etc..)Dell 51503.06ghz Pentium MNvidia FX5200 64meg80gig HDD1gig (2x512meg) RAM1400x1050 sxga screenI upgrade my desktop fairly often. When you do 3d rendering stuff, it really helps to have a faster machine. The time it takes for some renders is ridiculous. I use my laptop when I am on the train usually, or if I wanna do some programming and I dont want to be tied to my room. It does everything that I want it to and so I'm happy with it. I cant say that I have ever been a fan of Apple computers or any of their iPod stuff. I got lost with the whole 'single button mouse' thing. The other thing that put me off apple was the difficulty in upgrading. I do however like their huge 30inch monitors... Now if I just had the money, I would go out an buy one right now!

Ok... lemme get this out first. The xbox360 and the ps3 will more than likely amaze most console users. What both of these consoles wont do is amaze people who have high-end computer systems. At the moment, my AMD 4800+ (dual-core) will crap all over one of these machines. There are a few reasons for this. Firstly they are aiming to sell these consoles cheaply. This means that they cant really afford to make them super futuristic.Secondly, these machines are dependent on multithreaded applications to get the most out of them. Although these machines have a lot of power (three 1.5 GHz processesors), most developers haven't done much beyond single-threaded applications. So the first games to be released will not be the best. It will take a fairly long time before the developers are able to work properly with multiple branches and get all the power out of them. Oh and for all those people saying that they cant compare an xbox360 to a ps3, well the fact of the matter is that they both have very similar setups. And so, it will really be down to wether or not the developers can work better with one system or the other. It will remain to be seen which will be the better in the long term. I know for sure that I would spend the extra and upgrade my PC over a console!

Ok, so it does have some cool features, tabbed browsing, RSS integration and the CSS2 support. I honestly cant say that I will switch over to IE7 from Firefox. I will still have IE7 on my computer for compatibility testing. (The more browsers you have for testing code, the better) All things aside, it will be good if IE7 makes an improvement on IE6. Most (good) web designers write their code to comply with the standards of the w3c and so using Firefox (in my opinion) is still the safest bet. By the way, thanks for the information!

Where Can I Find Good Free Website Templates
optykal replied to atm's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Hey that 'notemplates' site looks pretty cool. Are there any catches for signing up? What I mean is, do you get hit with heaps of junk mail or any of that kind of thing? Should I use a dissposable email account that I dont care about? -
For my php stuff I have been using dreamweaver with apache 2.0 and PHP 5.0, one of my friends mentioned this program and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. The program is Zend Studio Server/Client. Its seems to be some sort of Dev Environment for PHP. If anyone here has used it or has any idea of whether its worth using it would be greatly appreciated. Or else what would be some suggestions?Cheers!
