  1. I would have to say the best RPG I ever played was Knights of the Old Republic. Number two was pretty bad. It is the only real RPG I really liked. I also played Diablo 2 for years, but it really wasn't much of an RPG. Other games like Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, and Dungeon Siege just don't hold my attention. I also liked Arcanum a lot, although I think I ruined it by following a guide for the whole game.
  2. Yeah, why bother? Are there any very, very, good advantages that three-state systems have over binary systems? Wouldn't everything have to be rewritten?
  3. You'd need some kind of IDE > USB adapter to do that.
  4. Make sure you have the guest account enabled (in Computer Management > Users and Groups > Users, not the one in User Accounts in the Control Panel), or you'll be prompted with a log in form every time you try to access the folder from another computer.
  5. Get Firefox and use Firetune. The speed boost is pretty significant.
  6. My parents pay around $40 a month for cable with download speeds of up to 512 kilobytes per second and upload speeds of 64 kilobytes per second. It's pretty fast, but I would have liked higher bandwidth limits. The upload limit is currently at 10 GB, although they don't really seem to do anything about it if you do go over.
  7. A lot of people around here have those pages or whatever too. For most people it's really just a fad. They sign up because everyone else does, and when people start to get bored you never see them again. The same thing's happened with LiveJournal, Blogger, MadProfiles, SubProfiles, etc etc.
  8. I've used Trillian, but it's a little bloated and kind of slow, with a bunch of features I don't need or want. I currently use AIM with AIM Ad Hack, and it's not bad. I don't use it that much, so it doesn't bother me.
  9. I used to use Norton for years. It's terrible. Not only does it add a whole bunch of memory-sucking processes, it scans incredibly slowly, doesn't update as often as other products, and is very hard to totally remove. I now use AVG Free. It scans quickly, without slowing my entire system down, and gets updates daily. It's also free.
  10. No, all it does is rip DVDs to your hard drive. I've yet to find a DVD that DVD Decrypter can't rip.
  11. Microsoft Office is more polished and looks better, but OpenOffice is also a good alternative. OOo will do just about everything Microsoft Office will do, unless there are some advanced functions you need. If I hadn't screwed up my current XP installation I'd be using Microsoft Office instead of OpenOffice, but OpenOffice is almost as good.
  12. I also use FileZilla. It's free and does the job.
  13. The main router is hooked up to my computer (AMD Athlon63 3200+, XP) and my mother's (Prescott 3.0 GHz, 2000). Then, it's attached to a secondary router in the living room. Attached to that is my sister's computer (Williamette 1.5 GHz, XP) and my Dad's computer (also a 1.5 Ghz XP). Sometimes my Dad's laptop is also connected to the secondary router. We don't have wireless because there's no need for it and because my Dad's paranoid about security for some reason.
  14. If you've already deleted all the partitions, all you should need to do is create a new partition. I'd consider buying a new drive, since 30 GB isn't all that big.
  15. My video card supports two, but I currently only use one. I just don't have the need or the desire for two.
  16. Do you have a System Restore point you could possibly use?
  17. Maxtor, Seagate, and Western Digital all make good hard drives. They're mostly the same, so there's no reason to prefer one brand over the other, besides personal preference. If you want speed, I suggest getting a drive with a 16 MB cache. Maxtor makes a few of these. Apparently they're almost as fast as the 10,000 RPM Raptor drives.
