A Video Editing Software Needed
SadElated replied to nakulgupta's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Hey!Some awesome software is presently out there. There are a lot of industry standard programs that can allow you to do some amazing things! I'll outline a few of them.Dazzle: If you're willing to shell out like 50 bucks you can pick up an extremely nifty device that allows you to hook your computer up to any VCR, DVD or PS2. You can then record the video being played on that device onto your computer. By hooking up a t.v., dvd player, and Dazzle you can watch a movie and as you do so, record the places you want using Dazzle. Then with the software included with the hardware you can then create some awesome nifty effects, edit and splice videos, and work on frame by frame stuff. You can do a lot of cool things with this stuff the only thing thats the problem is it gets kind of *****y when you have it for a while, and it's a ***** to hook up and install correctly.Final Cut Pro: This is the industry standard. This is the stuff pros use. It's amazing and if you can think of anything you want to do video editing wise, chances are this program will let you do it and do it amazing. It's nearly impossible to get for free and it's priced at well over a grand, but it's well worth it if your serious about editing. However if you go to a film school you can get a free copy from most editing teachers. Windows Movie Maker: This is kind of like the 'kindergarden' class of editing. It allows you to do all the natural and easy things. Cut, move, splice, frame by frame work. Add audio, etc. It doesn't let you add any cool effects and it really doesn't give you very many tools and options but if its your first time it's easy to work with.Adobe Premiere: This is my favourite to use software. Adobe is amazing, and you can find a lot of pirated stuff on the net. It lets you do pretty well anything Final Cut Pro does, although well over 500 bucks in stores, you can probably pick up a copy somewhere on the net. It lets you do everything. Frame by frame work is a synch, and you can download tons of plug-ins and effects. It truly is one of the best. And next to Final Cut Pro, it IS the best. I strongly suggest you look for this one if anything else. It'll let you do anything you want, and tons more you wouldn't even have thought of.If you get the other programs in the Adobe library, like After Effects, and Photoshop you can do a LOT of amazing and astounding things. You don't even need to hire effects people you can do it all with those three programs! It's intense you should really check it out.Anyways, I hope this helps, and good luck with your video editing future! -
What Language Is Best For Game Programming? I need some help
SadElated replied to bigd1's topic in Programming
Hey!Well with Video Games, I know it's always a good idea to have a roughg idea of what your game does and how it works, before you jump right into making it with any language. If you make a quick prototype on another easy language or programming language it's always easy to look at it and test it for kinks before you bring it forth and really do the extra and minute details with the more advanced languages.Visual Basics is amazing for this. It allows you to do a lot of stuff simply which gives you a quick idea of what you want your game to generally look like, as well as how you want it to somewhat run. It's AWESOME for Adventure games and RPGs, you can make the scenarios and visuals and test run them in VB allowing you to do a consistant run-through with minimal game play just to let you see how your game flows and whether the graphics work with one another. Sometimes when using graphics it's tricky to really get them to mesh and flow with one another.I've found using VB first and then going back and forth between it allows you to have something like a story-board for your game and it's a lot of fun. It's also great to send to friends, and others people to get them to test your game and see if it even appeals. Then you advance on it and dive deeper into coding and all that jazz.Anyways, good luck! -

wow! I really love all of the photos posted so far You're such a talented bunch! I love photography. Well, I love all forms of art really! And I have a photoshop addiction! Hehe. But I'm still trying to learn how to do it properly! I'd like to try CS sometime, is it good? I'm just using Photoshop 7 right now. Anyway! Here they are... Hopefully they aren't too bad I have more here -
I just made the one in my signature today. I was thinking of adding some text. But after I cut it, and sized it and all that jazz I realized I liked it as it was.Any suggestions?

Spyware And Adware: Remove 'em All
SadElated replied to hexwiz's topic in Websites and Web Designing
SpyWare DoctorSpyWare Doctor is probably my best and favourite SpyWare/Adware protector. Not only that but it cleans up Trojan's as well. It's really easy to use and it works wonderfully! It's by far my favourite free program. Notice from Klass: Add URL Links for the product mentioned, saves a web search. I highly recommend using links when listing software. -
Mess With Messenger Mess with messenger @ mess.be
SadElated replied to infamousflame's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah, Mess is better to just get Display Pictures, Backgrounds, and other things like images and display name specialities from. Downloading stuff definitly sets your computer aflame with spyware. And MSN Plus destroys your comptuer usually. It works wonderful for a few weeks, but then suddenly MSN will stop working. When MSN tries to auto-update Plus freezes. And things like that. My e-mail display still doesn't work right from Plus. It's best to stick to the new MSN and just take the add-ons from Mess. -
iSketch is really, really fun. It can be addictive though. You wouldn't think that Pictionary would be so much fun, but sure enough one minute you're on Aadvark and then next you're on Zebra, and you're wondering what the hell happened to the time. I like how they break up the different categories too, it's fun and when you get a bunch of friends together you can definitly find out who's into what type of things. You can tell who loves the animals, and you can tell who loves the movies, and you can really tell when people know their music. Another great site that isn't so much a game site as it is fun to play around with your friends, is Art Pad Painter It's great to send to that 'special someone' and it's really neat how it replays your entire motions. It can be comical watching someone start out drawing a stick man, or drawing something inappropriate by accident then erasing it quickly and starting again. Everyone should check it out.

Anyone Play True Rpg's table top adventuring
SadElated replied to tattoopunk's topic in Computer Gaming
The Pen and Pad Role Play games have always interested me, since I love stories, but they seem complicated. Are they? Do you need to kind of have lessons to learn the inner workings, or is it something that can be explained in a sit-down fifteen minute conversation kind of thing? I go down town a lot to my favourite Comic/Anime/Collectors store and they have tons of RolePlaying games like that. There are so many different books and I read them similarly in the fashion I would read a VCR Remote Control manual, the words go in, but the words they use don't really make sense to what I'm looking at. If I knew what the basic idea of them was, I think I'd pick up one and just read it through but I don't really want to go out and pay $50 bucks for a game book and then never use it, yanno? Can anyone give me a brief run-down of the main concept/idea to the whole thing? And maybe some of the lingo I'd need to know to understand it? Like do you need all the books to start playing or can you just get one? Or are there other things you need beside the 'game' book and stuff? -
I have RPG Maker 2000 I believe, maybe it's 2003. I can't really remember, but I'm currently looking for sprites. I didn't know there was already a forum about RPG Maker or I would have just posted it here, isntead of making a new one, here.. It's really, really easy to use. And some people can make amazing games. One girl drew all her tiles and ended up making a cartoon like world. It was really nicely done, and the artwork was beautiful. I used to have a lot of tile sets that were really beautiful, but I had to reformat and lost them all, along with the website addresses, and sure enough I have no idea where to find them. The program allows you to do quite a bit, and I think it's a great way to atleast make a prototype of your game, and game concept until you either become more fluent in code, or perhaps just better at a more efficient and fancy program. (Which might involve dishing out the green stuff.) I have the program, so if anyone wants it really bad, just Private Message me, and I'll find a way to get it to you. It's not that big of a file size, and I'd be happy to pass on the love.

Thanks a lot Sean! Yeah, I would like a LapTop with pretty well all the basic necessities, some good document programs, a good sound card(because music is a must) and probably an easilly accessibly internet port. I'll probably buy from the U.S. since prices for LapTops are much cheaper there then here, in Canada. Something that I would pay for about $1299 here, goes for about $799 in the U.S. Even with the exchange rate that's still a hefty increase. Thanks for the help. Any suggestions are helpful. Does anyone have a laptop currently and want to recommend it?

I always find it amusing how Sims and Sims 2 is so popular. I mean basically it's just watching someone do meager tasks that we ourselves do on a daily basis. (When we're not on the computer playing the Sims that is.) It's strange how we're attracted by the aspect of being something like a 'Big Brother' watching over other peoples eyes and being Godly in decisions with thier lives. I guess it's just one of the human conditions. We're attracted to power, and The Sims lets us control peoples lives... literally! Wild how humans are attracted to the strangest things. Next thing you'll see a game called "The Janitor" where you get to be a Janitor for a day and clean up other peoples garbage, or have the option of playing the crafty kids who surprise the janitor and throw crud at him! Or perhaps be the garbage men and build up your strength as you attempt to lift that old couch and put it in the back of the truck! Oh humanity!

Final Fantasy Which one do you consider the best?
SadElated replied to aaorozco's topic in Computer Gaming
I have a few favourites, I think every Final Fantasy game has it's own amazing quirks. Final Fantasy 7: Amazing story and game play. It was way ahead of it's times and the characters were astounding. I think Sephiroth goes down as the Number 1 Game Villian of all times, next to the likes of Bowser from Mario, and perhaps Shredder from Ninja Turtles on Sega Genesis. Final Fantasy 8: This game had such amazing magic. I loved all the summons so much. And the card game was friggin' wicked. I played the game sometimes JUST for the card game. Plus Squall and Rhinoa's love/thing was cute and kept some comedy in it with him being so...hmm... tight lipped? Final Fantasy 9: The design was kind of kiddish and awkward looking, but after a while you instantly fell in love with the characters. (Although it took me a LONG while to figure out whether the main character was a male or female.) And I think Final Fantasy brough to the scene one of the best characters to the franchise, Vivi. His tragic story was awesome and had a lot of symbolism and added some drama to the whole game. I also really liked how Chrono Trigger came with Final Fantasy Chronicles. Especially since that game and Chrono Cross are really good! -
I think having a Guiness Book of World Records, record for longest Domain name is kind of silly, cause really.. all it takes is someone with some spare money and time to make a cheapo website and then buy a domain name that says something stupid like...www. ThisIsTheMostAmazingWebsiteYouHaveEverSeenInYourLifeAndIThinkYouWillAllEnjoyItThourouglyBecauseItKicksSoMuchAssAndThisIsTheLongestDomainNameYouWillEverSee. comNow See I think that would be kind of ridiculous and I'm sure the internet would be filled with garbage. But kinda cool to say at one point that even something silly like that was in the Guiness Book Of World Records.

Psp Becoming A Mobile Porn Console?
SadElated replied to Tommy1405241497's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This kind of stuff is just asking for trouble. Once July 8th rolls around you know business men are going to be caught watching porn during their jobs, and things like that. It's going to bring lots of media attention to PSP which I think will be awesome for Sony, since any publicity is good publicity for a company like them.I can just imagine some kid in class...."Billy, what's the answer to 2 x 37?" "......" "Billy? Are you paying attention, what are you doing....ARE YOU PLAYING A VIDEO GAME IN CLASS BILLY?""Wha...wha...? NO! No I'm not playing a game! Sorry ma'am, it's umm.. the answer is um...""Billy, what do you have there?""Nah...nothing!""Billy what's....OH MY GOD!"In the end Billy is the laughing stock of the school, the girls call him a pervert, the boys call him hero, and the teacher phones home which results in Billy being banned from his PSP and Playstation for a month. Good old Japan sending children to detention since 1956. -
Hosting Credits What do the days represent?
SadElated replied to bigredrosen's topic in Web Hosting Support
Thanks Skywalker, I was pretty sure how that worked, but I'm glad you confirmed my prior beliefs. I kind of like how AstraHosting works. Not only does the forum help people, but it gives them a reason to work for their website atleast. I mean it's a small cost to pay for free hosting and all the perks. I guess writing How-To's and Tutorials could end up really paying off in the long run since the word count-and grammar and post size would probably boost your amount of days considerably. I think the best way to do it would be to bank a lot of credits and then after banking about 50, or 100 you can take a break and concentrate on your website for a few weeks. I mean it's not all that hard. I've been on for only a day or some and I've already got almost 40. Hopefully I can keep up this momentum and I can get the website up soon. I just need to re-install Photoshop and edit in some graphics for my website and then I should be able to upload once my account has been approved. Well anyways, I've gone and made a simple response of "Thank-You" turn out to be a long winded talk of banking credits and my website. lol Oops! Thanks again guys. -
Hey,I'm be going to school in a year or so, and I've been looking for a laptop, I'm not really desperatly in need for one, but I do need one that's relatively cheap so that if it gets broken while transfering back and forth from school with me, I can be mad, but not furious. It's a lot easier to take notes with a laptop, and it also saves a lot of time and money so you don't have to buy a whole new computer for at school. And of course it makes it easy if you get residence and use the internet hook-up with it and just kinda go from there. Does anyone have any suggestions or preferences for laptops? A good make? Any good hardware hookups or adapters that could help me after buying a laptop? It'd be really helpful and not only myself but my folks would be thanking you. Any help is appreciated,Thanks!

Hello,I have RPGMaker, and I require some Sprite Sets and Graphic sets for the system. Some different tiles, and things like that. It's all pretty well 2D but if there are some 3D looking graphics that can be applied to the tile-like format of RPGMaker I'd love to see that website.Does anyone else have some suggestions to different RPG Creating Modules? Or perhaps other ideas on programs that can create RPG Gaming formats all together? I only have ideas at this stage so any help would be appreciated. I'm not really trying to make a game for millions more or less a prototype, to carry a story I have that I can add upon and perhaps remake in the future. I just don't want to do a half-assed job, when I could put forth some extra effort. So any graphics, tile sets, or sprite sets would be really helpful, as would some free programs and things like that. Thanks again!

There have been rumors that a few possibilities for the GTA theme have been Tokyo and other things similar to that. There have also been talks of a Biker Gang GTA. I guess it's just scenario's that are tricky, I mean there are only so many underground operations that one can have criminal objections for. I think a cool one would be of a crooked cop or something, maybe a vigilante cop? I don't know it'd be cool if they could incorporate that somehow. Tokyo would be a pretty bad *bottom* concept too with all the crazy asian gangs and stuff. And even the Biker Gang idea isn't to shabby in itself. With all the different rival biker gangs out there I'm sure they could come up with an intricate plot involving other things like the mafia and stuff. I've also heard a rumor that RockStar games and Sony have been in talks about a supposed 'Grand Theft Auto' movie. I'm not sure if it'll ever happen but apparently it'll be based off of all the different games. We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Best Fps Ever! what do you think is the best fps ever?
SadElated replied to iGuest's topic in Computer Gaming
FirstPersonShooters are best with the most amount of people possible. In my town there used to be a computer 'cafe' I guess you'd call it. It was basically like a computer arcade set up with about 40 computers hooked up to a network. We used to play Diablo 2, Starcraft and things like that on their. Until... Counterstrike. Oh man was that amazing. We'd all play together against some Computers and it'd be amazing. I have to say that, that game was astounding and it was a bunch of laughs. Rainbow Six for N64 was spectacular in its time as well. That was a lot of fun, and I don't think anyone can deny Perfect Dark it's props. That had some of the best stages for any FPS I think. Not to mention the legendary GoldenEye for 64 as well. Definitly an amazing game. Between the stages and all it's weapons it definitly set the stage for FPS later on in life. Not to mention DUCK HUNT! That game is broke so many boundaries and created a whole genre of arcade games soon after. Trust Nintendo for the best FPS on a console. -
My Creations... at least signature creations
SadElated replied to gamerchick39's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Your EarthWorm Jim and GM Radio banners are definitly your better ones. I'm not a fan of your Vertical "Missing" banners however, maybe it's just the font and the colors or perhaps it's the background, but I don't know it just doesn't look as nice as the stock image at the bottom seems to demand from it. The Earthworm Jim banner is really good however, I really like the effect you use, however I have a suggestion for another similar banner, perhaps instead of the effect scrolling back and forth along the banner, it could flash to each portion of the banner. For instance it'll focus on the left Jim stock, then the right Jim stock, then finally settle on the title "Earth Worm Jim" in the middle casting the other two stock images in blurry shadows. Then perhaps it too could blur and darken and then flash white and bam, the full banner could be shown. It just seems it would match the personality of the show trying to be comically dramatic. The GM Radio has really good balance, and font, however I think it could really use a nice boarder. Perhaps a dark green? I'm not sure what would look best but I think it would really set it off more and catch the eye nicely. The LP banners are a little blurry however, and the coours in them don't work well with the cut-out images of the artist's heads. I like the effect of the heads and images all meshing together but the background images and colors just don't work well with them. I don't know what would, perhaps an image of the 'Faint' video in the background? Or maybe just sizing it a little larger would help it? I'm not sure, but I think with the size and the colors it really subtracts from the image. The Resident Evil banner has really good stock but it's very plain and doesn't catch the eye quite as much as the top two. Perhaps having only one stock as the center attraction? I'm not sure what would help it more, less images or perhaps a better background other then black. And then finally the vertical banners again, which I'm not really a fan of. The font isn't to bad, but the background color just clashes with it, and makes them look really 'blah'. I love the stock though, but just something about it isn't very eye appealing. But like I said above, the first two are really, really good. And I hope you aren't hurt by the critism, because I think all of them were done very well and you did a very good job with them. Great work. -
I like the first because it's not to flashy and the font is really second only to the ferrari. However, it seems like it needs something else, I was thinking a boarder would really help emphasize it more. The second has the red crisscross/swirly thing which really is distracting and takes away from the center of attention, which should be the font and the ferrari. It looks slightly messy and I agree with the others that it really doesn't work. The third however has the red swirly thing broken up, and again it is kind of distracting. It's not that I don't like the third, it's just that I think the first is better because it seems less messy and crowded. If you perhaps made a boarder with the same thickness of the red-swirly/criss cross thing and the same color it'd probably look really amazing. I enjoy them all a lot though, and I really love the font of "YourName" great job, and the background really works well with the entire piece! Great work!

Gif Animator may be out of date, but I recommend it to everyone that asks about making gifs, and banners. Not only is it really, really simple to use but it's compatible with .bmp files and since Paint was my first image editing program I instantly fell in love with how easy I could make banners. Sure the sizing can blur the pictures a big but generally for any rough copy of a banner it's stupendous. Then all you really need to do is send that file to a professional or a friend with photoshop and order them to do a better job. lol Image Ready works really well, as does Adobe After Effects for anything effects related. You can do some amazing stuff with those programs, not to mention using PhotoShop in conjunction wtih either. But I must admit the programs are confusing if you don't take a course or have the manual, and the Help Tutorials are daunting usually in length, so I suggest editing with something like PhotoShop, saving the files individually in .jpeg or .gif format, then placing them into Gif Animator and doing frame by frame banner creation. It's not the best quality sometimes, but considering how high quality the images are after Photoshop, you on gain normalcy in the quality department. And they are a good way to have atleast something until you can figure out and learn the workings of Image Ready. Most banners need to be themed though, if your site is gray and black, it's a bad idea to make a red and blue banner that flashes. Or if your site it Orange and Black it's really bad to have a banner pink and purple. lol If you color code your banner, and make it match your website you can come up with some really neat things. A really good way is going frame by frame in gif Animator and making images that create the alusions of an effect. So have a frame by frame movement that seems to be destroying the letters of your website, or slowly have a face moving into the picture from one side. It'd tedious and a little time consuming, but it can look cool. I knew a friend that made a Stick-Man dancing banner using Gif Animator, just because he wanted a challenge. It was frame by frame but it was really awesome. He had technicolored circles randomly flashes at different points of the frames, so it looked similar to a strobe light. And at one point he had the screen go black and the stickman got inverted from black on white, to white on black, it made him look like he was glowing in the dark. I don't know if that's what you'd want to do, but I think that it's just proof that even the simplest things can turn out to be really really good. Well good luck!
