  1. One thing I've been thinking about in regards to halo and the xbox 2...if Bungie's next project is going to be halo3 it might not be made to run only on teh x360. Consider this, if the x360 is backwards compatable, then Bungie could make halo3 for the xbox1 and then halo3 would be playable on the first xbox and the newer x360 xbox, then halo3 and x360 wouldn't be competing. and Bungie would be continuing to show it's loyalty to it's fans by not jumping to the next console =D The reason I thoguht of this is because I think I read somewhere that Bungie either hasn't even touched a developer kit ('cept for e3) or that they only have 1 or 2 or soemthing like that...can anyone confirm this?
  2. How can they optimize for different sizes? If they were to to design optimization for networking it would naturally lean towards optimization of a network of any size, your "let's optimize for everything". If they wanted to increase/decrease optimization for different sized networks they wouldhave to build in blocks within the program to create an actual decrease in optimization. =P ...but then again, we are talking about a money making business, so the chances of them actually doing this and marketting it as differently optimized networks in order to make more money makes sense ''
  3. ...wait, what? I don't think there is a limitation on the number of computers you can network using home...there shouldn't be, if there was there would have to be a notice on the box. And if there was MS would be selling add-ons to increase the network size on xp home for home users. A limit doesn't make sense, when you refer to a home network do you mean that the computers simply share a network connection through a router and don't share folders, or where you have an actual network where the computers share files and the internet? I know that at the place I work (I'm a minor video editor for a small start up company) we run home on most of the machines and share files and itnernet and there are a good dozen computers hooked up together...
  4. Well, let's hope that by 2006 they have more then an empty casing to show at e3 =PI don't know whether to laugh or groan at the fact that Nintendo doesn't have they're next generation system in order yet. They've always been behind, and if they suddenly pull back and scrap the revolution and simply do hand held stuff and gamecube I wouldn't be surprised. Some where I thought I read that nintendo was bought out by sony or sega or something? Anybody know anythign about this?
  5. People will buy the system that they've been loyal to for the last few generations. Either that or most people will buy all of them =PI know a couple people that did that ''' lucky bastardsanyways, sony might surprise everyone and come out during christmas, they know they're gonna have a b|tch of a time competing against halo3 if ms releases it at the same time as ps3.My hope is that they don't rush out the systems and games this generation around =S I'm hoping that they've learned their lesson on doing stuff like that and will wait till everything is set right before kicking it out the door and onto our heads =P I'm going to be pretty pissed if I buy an xbox2 and then find out the first couple versions are not top notch.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, sorry I haven't been on enough to get back to them immediately =SSo folder trees like regular comptuer files, great, one question down, thanks =DSecond question, when I go to upload my files in cpanel, I can't just upload a folder off of my computer that has all my other folders and stuff togehter in it already, can I? As in, say I creat my site completely on my computer, I'm sure all the links work, and everything is in it's place ready to be uploaded. I can't simply upload the "root" folder that all my site branches from, can I? (and if I can't, would a work around be to upload a zip file [wich would be my "root" folder] and then unzip the file to my actual root folder?)thanks again for your quick replies!
  7. I'm going to have to agree with Dream on this one, pretty soon every game that comes out is going to look amazing. At that point it's going to be game content that people are going to be nitpicking over.
  8. Hi, Quick question (I hope =P), I've started to create my own webpage (I currently have a filler graphic up on my astasite) and I have something of a file tree on my computer with the various pages and stuff related to it in different folders.Example (everything on the page is within the main folder, within the other folders are data from other pages and graphics)Main Folder*index.html*graphics*blah blah blah*Folder 2**2nd page**graphics**blahblahblah*Folder 3**3rd page**graphics**blahblahblah**Folder4***4th page***graphics***blahblahblahMy Question is about the organization of the webpage html files and their graphics, is it better to organize everything within folders and from the pages point to the graphics in the folders, or is it better to upload everything within one folder and point to each file within that one folder....as in...if I have three different pages, a main page, a links page and a blog, and the main page links to the links page and the blog page, should all my links/blog graphics be within specific folders, or is it better to keep everthing together and point to the graphics right there instead of creating folders?
  9. WOW, those are some stunning graphics, Ps3 looks like it'll be able to totally blow the x360 out of the water from those! Sony has always had better games and a larger following as well so I'm not surprised. You can get keyboard/mouse "ports" for the xbox/ps2 so I'm sure taht x360 and the ps3 will have them as well.
  10. Yikes that's one hell of a long post (read it all btw, just so you know ) and I agree with you one hundred percent on your review of each systems graphical power. Ps3 tops them all in raw power, followed by a mediocre X360 and a flagging Revolution. The customization for the x360 is going to be amazing, but the online capabilites of each game being a requirement...I'm hoping that refers to "live aware" instead of actual onine gameplay...cause taht would really sink a few games. Though, an rpg where you can play online with friends, as in each person controlling a character (ie: crystal chronicles, tales of symphonia, xmen legends) would be great in my opinion. and the rev having the ability to play all the other system games? well that's interesting, but nintendo hasn't done much but remake/repackage their old games for the last decade or so, so nothing new =P And Ceasar6, the person commenting about the graphics having to stop increasing, or should stop increasing was me, and here's my reasoning. I haven't played a decent NEW video game in...a couple years now. Not to say that they weren't good looking games, I'm refereing to story telling and plot relations. When the xbox and the ps2 came out they were hailed as amazing systems able to offer stunning graphics. And for the most part they delivered. There are some graphically amazing games out there that really drop the ball in other areas of gameplay. I'm sure you've heard the stories about video game companies hiring more and more graphical artists, they are always adding more and more. And although the graphics look amazing for these games, other areas of the game suffer. Don't belive me? Take a moment and review your game collection, games you've played, games you've seen other people play, games you're anticipating. Take a moment and just go over them in your mind. In an honest, unbiased look at them, what did you think about them? What doyou think about the graphics? How about the game play? How long did it take for that game, since its announcement, to come out? ARe you happy with the way it turned out upon release? Why I say that Sony/MS/Nintendo should stop coming out with new systems with more and more insane graphics is becuase games are suffering. They take longer and longer to produce because they have to spend a hell of a lot more time creating stunning graphics and focus less and less on gameplay and storyline. but of course, I don't know anything about the industry, half of this I'm talking out of my *bottom* from my experience with games and my analysis' of the way things have been. Check out this article from gamesspy.com GameSpy - GDC article and then check out the "ea spouse" article here EA spouse lj entry STuff like this is what makes me form the opinion that stopping the improvement of graphics would be a good thing for everyone involved. To find a way to allow game developers to not have to worry so much about graphics and be able to focus in on gameplay and plot.
  11. There aren't that many around, here are a few...actually, two =P Images for Tekken Next - PS3 careful they're massive =P I haven't seen too much else, but I haven't really been looking at ps3 stuff =/ WarHawk PS3 images Heavenly Sword PS3 images check out those, I missed them the first time around the main ps3 site at ign. you should check out GameSpy and GameSpot for other ps3 info, may find more screens there =)
  12. ...http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ doesn't seem to exsist ...having gone to e3 and having gone to each comps unveiling I seriously doubt you missed the specs for each console so your comment about the x360 having nothing on ps3 or revolutions leaves me skeptical =P in regards to nintendo, unfortunately they've always been a little behind the pack with their consoles. They've always had some great games, but the revolution is not something that's high on my list of things to pick up come next year
  13. It's eitehr Sega CD or Sega Saturn that had the cd drive (both or where they the same thing? LOL). And Nintendo's system got left out because I haven't seen the specs for it and they weren't out at the time of this first post '''In my opinion I don't think graphical performance is going to make much of a difference anymore, I mean...you get to a certain point where EVERY game on EVERY system simply looks beautiful =P At what point do you stop upgrading a console system? And it's been only 3 or so years since the last set of consoles...has there really been enough time for game developers to get used to the current generation of consoles? Now they have a whole new set of systems to gear up to meet '''At that point it comes down to content and customer preference. Xbox games have always leaned heavily towards north american market in terms of games and have slowly been getting more and more asian style of gaming (*cough*kickassrpgs*cough*), while Sony's been able to keep both north american and asian markets happy. And from that stand point, now both companies (as well as Nintendo) have been able to find niches and developers form all around the world that will be developing games on their consoles.JimBean's final point is the best though, people like to take sides and stick with the team they are the most comfortable with. =)
  14. Ps3 kicks the x360's *bottom* when it comes to power, but right nwo that doesn't mean much.I mean...wtf are designers going to do with all that power???? there's only so much time you can spend on graphics before you lose site of the rest of the game =P I don't think they should be pushing graphics at all right now. These systems should be the last to come otu for a LONG time, the gaming industry is relaly in trouble with the cost of making a game =/ almost 20+ million a title YIKESoh, heh, x360 coming out end of this year, ps3 supposedly coming out spring of 2006 =)
  15. Hey! check out the new site for it that just went up! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ they're supposed to have 2 booths at e3 this year, and the ps2 game is either coming out this june or this septemper I can't wait for this title! LOL Btw, if you're interested in hooking up to put together a site, let know, I've got some space right now..the 20 mbs, hopign to upgrade once I get things going. =)
  16. I've never tried using another operating system other then windows, but I don't do much in the way of gaming or anythign other then surfing the net and downloads and chatting. Is there much of a difference to jump from operating system to operating system? I've contomplated modding my xbox to a linux box as something of a test to see how I feel about Linux. What are the best free operating systems and how do they differ from windows? just in general?
  17. e3 started this monday, and Sony decided to reveal it's new next-gen system. check out the specs here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and the full article from gamespy: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Looks a bit weird, but then again, Sony has always catered to the Japanese/Eastern market and had the best success there, so it may be a design derived specifically from there. Now the debate begins though, PS3 will obviously be a hit, as well the Xbox360. Both will probably find the most success in their native markets (ie, ps3 the east, x360 the west) as has been the case so far. The x360 seems to be focusing more and more on user input, through live and live aware titles and really pushing the gamer creating content. The ps3 looks as if it's focusing on raw power and is assumed to be coming out with some new online features (plus their ethernet port supports base10/100/1000!!!) so hopefully they'll have some kickass stuff in that department =D Which system do you think will do the best and which one are you looking forward to the most?
  18. Never mind, I found my answer '''sucks that they only give you 5 days of credit =P if I had known that sooner I would have put up a site sooner. Now all my posts have...well i don't want to say go to have gone to waste, but from where I'm standing now, it seems like that =/Just a friendly msg to the admins/mods, maybe you could put a little blurb in a more obvious place that lets new users know that after they've applied and gotten aproval that their credits get reset to 5, even if they've accumulated more then that amount of credits =(One question for any admins/mods that do read this...I know the answer to this will probably be "no", but knowing that I had 70+ hosting credits before I finished the process of signing into cpanel for the first time and getting my credits reset, can I apply for an upgraded package even though I only have 4 odd days on the counter? 0.o In other words, can I use the reset credits (having not known that they would have been reset and if knowing so, would have requested the higher package/upgraded sooner) to upgrade now?
  19. Hey,so I finally activated my account at Xisto here, and came onto the board to check a few threads, post a few replies, etc. Then I noticed that my hosting credits have be changed to the amount of days that my site will be hosted for (2.98) and that the 70-something hosting credits that I had earned since applying (and getting aproved) for hosting have seemed to vanish? Now, I realize that a conversion to the amount of days I'll be hosted for would have happened...but I mean, 70 credits became 2.98 days? what happened here? did the amount of credits I earned since applying and finally activating my hosting account not count or something? what's the deal? =P
  20. okay...*still trying to understand* so it basically is used instead of cell padding? and teh cells of the table conform to the size of the spacer? but the spacer gif is only called once in each cell, does the image tile the cell like a small image does the background of a web page?
  21. Why not phone up his internet service provider and inform that that they are hosting a site that was gotten through ill gains and that you will be taking legal action against your previous client because he cheated you for your services and that you are exploring the option of suing your previous client's service provider and seeking compensation based on teh amount of time that the stolen site has been online and for how ever long it remains online. (suing the net service provider would be a bluff, it's not worth the cost of suing anyone relaly =P)If this scares your client's isp enough into taking their site down, you win, and can then contact your previous client and tell them to pay up. =) might not work, but worth a shot.Best advice would be to MasterComputers: "I have had this happen before, no contracts because I trusted the person. When this happened, I thought fine, I used the exact site template on another one of my customers site and then made my customer speak to him saying that his template is copyrighted to him and that he is using stolen work and that he would press legal matters.""He quickly took down his site and that was the last of that."Try this, it is completely legal...as long as you have some documentation that you produced the site and your previous client hasn't slapped his own "copyright" on it =/
  22. Reading this article (and having barely started on my own page as of yet ) I'm curious about the author's use of "blank.gif" within some of his cells and his mention of it in the beggining of this article and in the use of his "box".What exactely does that image do and what is it's purpose?
  23. Twitch:unfortunately eot files are not text files =/ can't open them with notepad or anythign like that.I don't really want to use any fancy fonts or anything, I just want to make sure that my site can be read the same way from any browser so I can work out table sizes and stuff. mainly that's it, just making sure things are viewable by most people.so I'll keep to arial, Helvettica and verdana, but in the reverse order I like verdana better
