  1. One thing you must know when jumping to Linux is, do I want to abandon how Microsoft Windows does things and am I willing to learn how to use Linux?If no, then drop Linux, you will regret running it.There hasn't been a Linux distribution for Windows user to just drop it because they claim that it's not easy to use.Also, there's no native way to run Windows binary on Linux, just the same as is it possible to run Windows binary natively on MacOS X. (However, some MacOS X software can run on Linux and vice versa, but requires recompilation).xboxrulz

  2. Odd your writer can't write boot cds... Perhaps it's your software? What burning program are you running? Perhaps you could try downloading a trial of Nero Burning Rom.You're not technically burning a boot disc as such... You're burning an image, which most burning programs can do, and it just happens to be a boot disc. And if you have access to Ubuntu, I know for a fact that it can burn iso's with the right software. I just tried what you are trying to do, by downloading other flavors of linux looking for live cds to try them out. Unfortunately I had no luck in this. I tried Debian and Fedora and after downloading both Live cd iso's at 700 megs a shot, then burned them to CD-R's, they both gave me some weird error message when I tried booting from them.

    I guess I'm sticking with Ubuntu for now, just because I don't have any hardware conflicts. I tried Debian tonight, and I couldn't get X windows to work with my Radeon device, bleh. All the distro's I've tried (Mandrake, Redhat, Debian, etc) Ubuntu has the easiest installation. Now all I have to do is install VMware to get Dreamweaver and Photoshop back on ;)

    For your Radeon card, read here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

    Be sure to choose the correct OS (ex. Linux x86 or x86_64)

  3. true, but it included some important security aspects which I would rather run Windows Vista than Windows XP.Like I can still run standard user and install/remove software by entering a password so that I don't need to constantly be on an admin account and/or I don't need to keep logging into another account to do system-wide changes.M$ is smart on copying UNIX for this.xboxrulz

  4. A) Sony's dev team is retarded and decided to go overboard with the PS3;) The PS3's components are too expensive and too complicated to be used to their full potential w/o forcing a developer to go bankrupt.
    C) Sony has had the worst PR team in history.

    Each move Sony makes just makes them one step closer to either a lawsuit or bankruptcy. Also, if the PS3 doesn't sell very well(which it isn't), Sony is going to drop the Playstation line completely. The only thing that's keeping the company afloat is the music industry. Sony's computer line failed, the PSP was killed in two weeks by the DS Lite, the PS3 failed, Sony looses approx $100 on every ps3, and they have a bad PR team with no understanding of laws.

    ya that's for sure. I backed off Playstation after the first one.

  5. A 75 MHz computer? Wow, that's ancient. I guess it could, it doesn't take much resources.

    I just found ReactOS's system requirements

    ReactOS Hardware Requirements
    Whether installing ReactOS on real hardware or on an emulator, it is important to know the minimum requirements to install and use ReactOS:

    * 32MB RAM (NOTE: Debug builds may require 72MB of RAM, please use a release build on low memory systems)
    * IDE harddisk
    * FAT16/FAT32 boot partition
    * VGA compatible video card
    * Standard (PS/2) keyboard
    * PS/2 compatible mouse or Microsoft Mouse compatible serial mouse

    Furthermore, if you want to try TCP/IP networking, one of the following ethernet cards may work:

    * NE2000 clones
    * cards based on the Realtek8139 chipset

    Other cards might also work, if you provide the appropriate driver.
