  1. Un-capping will make your internet as fast as your service has. This means many mb down and up. Un-capping is definetly illegal to do also, and if you get caught, there's a hefty fine that you have to pay for it. If you want a faster internet connection, call your ISP and upgrade or switch to a different ISP. You pay for what you get.
  2. The x800 would be a good choice. Either way I would highly recommend both brands. They may have some corks in them, but can be worked out or around.
  3. Ahh Socom. I used to play this game a lot and it became more and more fun the better and better you get. It is pretty difficult to mater, but once you do so, it can be one of the best games out there. The only flaw to the game is how slow it can be. Sometimes you run around for minutes upon minutes looking for someone. It can also be boring when you get killed and have to wait for five minutes while the other players search for eachother on a huge map. I like how real it is though, with accurate guns and amazingly smooth gameplay. I would recommend it to any ps2 owner who likes first person shooters. Don't be discouraged by how hard it may be at first!
  4. I like 7.0 way better than 6.0. There are more custom looks and skins to it and a ton more features, and still the ones that 6.2 has. I'd suggest upgrading and if you don't like it you can still downgrade back to 6.2
  5. If it took them almost 4 years to come up with halo 2, and they want to actually make halo 3 good and appeal to more people, it's gonna take them a long time. Don't expect halo 3 to even be a launch title with xbox 2 or whatever they decide to call it. I only hope that they aren't wasting any more time like they did with halo 2.

    Halo 2

Halo 2 is a good game no doubt, but still isn't even close to how good halo 1 was. Without the pistol there really is not much skill required. The pistol really did take skill to master. You could get triple kills on one pistol shot, but in halo 2, after you kill someone with a full clip from a smg, another person comes up and kills you. Halo 2's "perfect" coding can be one of it's major downfalls. When you had the sniper in halo you had to lead the person and anticipate their actions. With halo 2, if you shoot anywhere close to them you will no doubt hit them. The sniper becomes one of the most powerful weapons. An easy headshot from anywhere. The grenades too. What happened to Master Chief's arm? He used to be able to throw grenades fast and far, but it seems as though he's got the arm of a little kid in halo 2. I could throw farther than he does, and he's supposed to be super-strong. Gimme a break. The grenades also don't have as much impact as in the first game which annoys me. If you got hit with a grenade i'd think you'd be out. There is also the lag flaw. Sure xbox live is fun and all, but when you're playing games with people overseas shotguns, the bullets sometimes don't register, and you'll end up shooting the enemy point-blank to no effect. Another downside to halo 2 is the standby cheaters. On some games on xbox live's horrible matchmaking lists, the host of the game will put his modem into standby for around 15 seconds, making everyone lag out, leaving him with a 15 second opportunity to kill the whole team, gain control of the weapons, take your flag, or plant a bomb, them turn his modem back on and let the gameplay resume. Overall i think that halo 2 isn't that great of a game, and most of the good old halo 1 players will agree. We used to setup lans with 4 boxes running 2 seperate games on friday nights and saturday nights. It would be a place to have fun and hang out with your friends. It would bring us together. With halo 2, that fun is gone. No one want's to play or LAN it anymore, and if anything it will tear friendships apart becuase of how rediculously bad it can be sometimes. Props to all who can appreciate something Bungie prolonged for over a year and a half.
  7. I love photoshop. I like to use it becuase it comes with imageready, and it's one of the most popular programs with tons of tutorials for new users. It also has a lot of addons and more features than paintshoppro as avalon stated. Once you have it mastered, there's nothing you can't do. If you ask most of the best graphics designers, they will tell you that they prefer photoshop over basically any other image editing program.
  8. Right. A bill just passed that a person with over around 1000 shared files can be persecuted by a $1000 fine. If you don't share over 1000 files you should be fine. With bigger networks like bittorrent that have many people feeding different parts of files to eachother it is safer becuase there is an impossible amount of people to really target one person. There is a big issue in the Supreme Court about if the software companies can be persecuted for allowing this p2p sharing conduct. We'll see how it goes. Personally i pay 15 bucks a month for a newsgroup server (https://www.altbinaries.com/) with no limit to downloading files, from dedicated fiberoptics lines. I get my full download speed of 430 kb/s from it. If you ask me, it's well worth it.
  9. For a 300 buck budget i'd recommend a P4. They give you speed and a low price all in one package. Check http://www.newegg.com/ for some good deals. You can get a cheap case for 20 bucks, an intel motherboard for 60, a P4 2.4 ghz cpu for 130 or a celeron 2.4 ghz cup for 75, and a 512 stick of ram for 70. That should fit your budget nicely . Maybe you'll have some money left over.
  10. Right now i'm running a ATI Radeon x700 pro and it's running really smooth and really fast. This is my first ATI card I've purchased because I wanted to try something different. I normally use nVidia just because they are faster and easier to overclock. The only differnce is that I've had some minor problems with them but none with the ATI. My friend has the nVidia 6600 GT which is just about the same price as mine, and our cards run games just as fast and nice as eachother. Any card you buy, whether it be ATI or nVidia is going to give you some nice results. Don't forget that you will probably be upgrading to a different video card in around a year, so there's always a next time
  11. Use the same type of ram on your computer. Many motherboards don't like two different types. I use two sticks of 512 Corsair on a Gigabyte and it runs flawlessly. Try getting another stick of the same ram that operates at the same speed.
  12. Yea I've been playing hl2 on my card today and it's been flawless. I have my desktop on one monitor, then the game on the other, so i can do other things like write essays or respond to aim convos when i'm waiting in CS:S. I don't think I will ever go back to a single monitor. This is heaven and i'd recommend it to anyone.
  13. Encorporating many different languages seems to work the best. For instance, having flash banner and nav bar seems to be nice, then having the rest of the page in html, java, or php. These always turn out to be the nicest.
  14. Just bought a new ati radeon x700 pro and was wondering if I should run dual monitors on it. I want to be able to play games like half life 2 and doom on it, but I hear from other people that it can make the gameplay slower and laggier. I don't know if it's true or not and that's why I need your help. It's a toss-up because I do a lot of editing and the dual-monitor configuration would be really nice, but I also like to game. Please help me!
  15. Wow nice, are they running on the new windows xp pro corp 64-bit edition? If so, how does it run? I'm considering getting a 64 bit processor and running it. Just wanted a first-hand experience before i blow a few hundred dollars
  16. Run a wire from the uplink spot in the router under or through your house to another hub (can purchase for around 15 bucks) right by your xbox. Then you can run it right to the hub and get on live! Another option is that if you have your xbox near your computer, and have an extra NIC card that isnt being used on your computer, you should run a crossover cable from your xbox to your computer. You may need to run Windows Internet Connection Sharing though if it doesn't work right away. It is quick and easy to setup if you do anyways. There are some tutorials here for WinICS: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  17. Wow, when i'm retired and have nothing else to do i'm gonna get me one of those. Hopefully i don't break my back carrying it around!
