New Reputation Thing What do you all think?
MajesticTreeFrog replied to Darren1405241470's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hmm, I take it my deduction wasn't hypothetical? Strange, I don't remember docking hashbang.... DAMN YOU EVIL TWIN! Still, I like the idea, but I have also always made sure to post a reason for my deductions(and I believe my additions)The other thought I had was that as people's reputations go up, should there mod's be worth more?finally, should users who just joined have mod ability? Because if someone didn't like how someone modded him/her, couldn't they sign up for a bunch of flake accounts and retaliate by modding that person down over and over with throwaway accounts?Maybe wait till a user has something reasonable like 20 posts? What do you guys think? -
A Guide To Linux Flavours
MajesticTreeFrog replied to intrepid's topic in Websites and Web Designing
What I would love to be a part of is an effort to make linux user friendly and not have these issues. Then I could just use linux without ever worrying about the BS. Not only that, but sprucing up linux would make it more attractive to both customers(for use) and corporations(more customers but also in order to make it user friendly it would need a more standardized GUI and human interface guidelines, which would make writing software easier as well).Sadly, I don't know of anywhere that I could work that would pay me to help with this(the best solution) nor of any online attempt to make it happen that is real(which would still be pretty cool).Oh yeah, 200th post!! -
what exactly are iframes? how do you use them?

mac or windows? which do u think is better
MajesticTreeFrog replied to wannabeeaweak's topic in Websites and Web Designing
well, outside games, I find that while the Mac has fewer programs for any given task, the programs it has are at least as good if not better than those on the PC. Also, all the big software packages have mac versions. Finally, for some jobs the mac is easily the best there is, for instance: video editing. -
Which Video Card Is Better, ATI Radeon, Or N-Vidia
MajesticTreeFrog replied to lxcid's topic in Hardware Workshop
right now ati has the best cards for the price, but other times nVidia has had the best cards. The other thing to pay attention to is the difference in features. -

Corel bought painter as well. They added a bunch of stuff to that as well. Nice stuff so I understand. -
its probably a 40 gig drive, with the difference being the space lost to the difference in how HD manufacturers and computers count space.

nooooo, you were fixing the security problem. And you will continue to have to fix it, which is another problem. -
mac or windows? which do u think is better
MajesticTreeFrog replied to wannabeeaweak's topic in Websites and Web Designing
of course there is something wrong with your computer, it is simply that you have already spent your time trying to fix it. That is inherently bad, its just that you don't care. which is fine of course. -
you know, thinking about the result of the election, I wonder if it might all be for the best. If kerry had gotten elected, all the problems caused by Bush would quickly have been blamed on him. I hope that with Bush reelected, all of his problems will finally come home to roost, taking him and the neocons down. granted, this is a hope, but its all we really have at this point.

uh, there is an options thing that pops up with a right click, just like in windows. And the 'right programs' to secure your computer are.... zonealarm, adaware, spybot, hijack this and norton antivirus. Now, update them all regularly, as well as windows itself. Finally change out outlook express with some other program(like thunderbird), so you won't randomly get crushed by email viruses that open if you even accidentally click on the email. Now that you have done all that, remember that performance suffers if you don't defrag your hard drive pretty regularly(and no program you can download changes that fact). Finally, get used to programs that are annoying to use and buggy. -
Lets see.... I assume you mean recent movies?hmmmThe Lord of the Rings seriesJet Li's Fist of Legend(best martial arts film ever, better than the matrix for martial arts. Trust me)The 400 blowsNorth by NorthwestPulp Fictionyeesh, a whole lot more, those are good ones off the top of my head.

Nah, what really keeps linux from gaining acceptance is a near total lack of universal human interface guidelines and good graphical installers. It doesn't help that a lot of the software available is named absolutely random things. For instance, GIMP does NOT suggest 'image editor' to people like 'paint' or 'photoshop' do. Or the graphical install/config utilities named stuff like 'Yum'. the KDE utilities like Kword and such are better, and thats really how things need to be named(or openoffice, for example). But XMMS, VLC(which I LOVE but come on. Rename the thing already), etc. are just strange and confusing(cron jobs, instead of 'task scheduler' or something similar)

A Guide To Linux Flavours
MajesticTreeFrog replied to intrepid's topic in Websites and Web Designing
well yeah, but when I first tried linux, I tried redhat and the dependency BS just got annoying and I decided that(since I knew how to keep my windows box secure/virus free) it wasn't worth it at the time. Redhat and mandrake have both improved significantly over the last few years, so things may be much better. -

except both Fedora and Mandrake use RPM based stuff, which puts you in dependency hell. Portage and Apt-get get around this problem. -
Possibility Of A Google Os ?
MajesticTreeFrog replied to jwcgator's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Really, a google OS isn't what is needed. What is needed is a free OS that is as easy to use and work with as microsoft's Windows(for the normal tasks that a normal noob will do on a computer), but without the downsides and pitfalls of both windows and linux in its current form. Linux could get there, and I look forward to trying out ubuntu linux/gnoppix to see if they have moved things that direction. -

Help! Please! I cant get the password to work
MajesticTreeFrog replied to jwcgator's topic in General Discussion
ok, let me see if I have this right. You got the email, highlighted and copied your password, and then somehow copies something else where your password used to be in the email?Uh, just re-open the email and use the password. Chances are you didn't save the email in a new version(unless you are using a POP email service, which is your fault, go get an IMAP account somewhere). -
Nice. I like it better than your HTML layouts. You are pretty good at this. Maybe you could help me figure out how to do some stuff to my site.

Free 3D modelling packages
MajesticTreeFrog replied to helix1405241470's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
No problem. Once you find a program you like, I suggest you get on IRC(a chat medium). There are lots of people and groups on IRC that are dedicated to these programs and have people that will help you out in trying to learn/perfect your skills using these programs. -
Help! Please! I cant get the password to work
MajesticTreeFrog replied to jwcgator's topic in General Discussion
well, unless you have put something else into the clipboard, you should be able to just paste into say, a text file and see what you actually put in.Also, why were you copy/pasting your password anyway? Didn't you know what it was to begin with? -
A quick note about the 'mail it to yourself' method. It has to be certified mail. Which costs more money than just an envelope and a stamp.
