How Do U Make A Slide Show Menu With Javascript
musichere replied to wannabeeaweak's topic in Programming
There are also some really nice menus and popupping things all over http://www.dynamicdrive.com/, that you can just copy and paste directly from their box onto your website in HTML. It's the easiest way because they do all the hard stuff and all that's left is copying. -
the problem with windows users (as we have just seen) is they have never used any other system. so they dont know any better. We have SUSE at school and it is absolute bull**** the just accept things like.. Rebooting after software or driver install Very few programs ask of this Defragmenting the hard disk Only needs to be done once in a blue moon Virus Scanning Better safe than sorry Spy ware Spybot Adware Ad-Aware Virus That's only becuase there are enough people on PC to make it worth hacking Browser Hijacking Noone uses internet explorer they dont realise that Linux / BSD's are soo much better. The Suse I have used is clumsy and the word processing programs are horrible. There is a limited number of games and my favourite applications aren't compattible.

Brainf*ck - World's Smallest And Hardest Language
musichere replied to qwijibow's topic in Programming
LOL this programming language is actually physically scary. I wish I could be as good as this.I don't understand at all how>>>++[ <++++++++[ <[<++>-]>>[>>]+>>+[ -[->>+<<<[<[<<]<+>]>[>[>>]]] <[>>[-]]>[>[-<<]>[<+<]]+<< ]<[>+<-]>>- ]<.[-]>>]can be a random number generator. More than More than More than plus plus while not zero?! -
Is it possible to set up a forum with a system of invitation only? By this I mean like Gmail or Orkut where there is no signup page unless you have been invited.

Thank you so much lhunath. On the website I registered my domain at it doesn't say anything about how long you have to wait, but it does make sense and I found your comment very helpful.

Overall there are probably more peace lovers than war lovers so I don't think the world will ever end through war and war against neighbours and neighbourhoods. It's sad that some people vote for Geroge Bush purely because he will lead America into more wards though.

People who are already hosted what do you think of astahost?
musichere replied to gritto's topic in Web Hosting Support
The Fantasico and Cpanel in here is VERY impressive. So much better than any other host I've tried. Also the admin seems very friendly and this is a very good forum with lots of computer knowledge and tutorials in it. -
Best Search Engine? My money is on Google
musichere replied to Darren1405241470's topic in Search Engines
Is it true or not that if you pay for it, in Yahoo! (see, i remembered the exclaimation mark ) and MSN you can get your search results prioritised above others, even if they get more hits and have more websites linking to them etc.Or maybe it's just google propaganda -
Sorry I am awful at this (i'm a total newbie). I updated my nameservers to the Xisto ones but when I go on my site it still says 404 error. My site is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ please help!

Wow how much do we love this man. Michael Moore is absolutely genius in his books and his films and even though I'm a sucker for his anti-bush propoganda I have to say I worship him. I didn't dislike Bush until I read Micahel Moore's books but I'm so glad I did.

^Lol never thought about that. The main problem with the free (and paid) proxies from varous website is mostly that they all go down very often, the uptime is rarely above 70% which is feeble. The other problem is that there is about a 5+ seconds delay before the page actually starts loading which is needed to connect to the proxy server.

Domains are ridiculously cheap compared to webhosting, or even compared to food. For the equivelant of about 20p a month you can get a .com address domain from websites like https://www.1and1.co.uk/ or https://www.hostmysite.com etc.

Its impossible to get rid of the internet in any way or form becuase so many companies, businesses, people, schools, institutions etc TOTALLY and completely rely on the internet to get their services done and so much so that it would be vitually impossible to change back to using pigeon mail.

Can't you host your own if you have this hosting service? I thought that this host came with Cpanel and therefore Fantastico (I'm not sure since I am still waiting for my hosting application to approved of). When you log into Cpanel there is a link saying Fantastico and then Install IPB 1.3 or something to the nature of that.

Send a file up to 1 Gb free
musichere replied to deivid1405241470's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think what they do (don't trust me on this) is that they take the address you say you are going to send it to (when you use the system). Then they wait a while and honour their service. When you've used the service you'll have forgotten by then and then they start spamming you. They couldn't afford to pay for bandwidth of up to 1GB for each user. -
OK if you want to do this without using a complicated FTP connection, all you have to do is go to http://www.youraddress.com/cpanel and log in with your cpanel username and password. After you have done this go into file manager and select the function 'change chmod' and that will let you do this much quicker and easier. I dislike fiddling around with it in FTP as well.

Linux is free, well the main benefit of it is that it's developed by the people and for the people, but you do lose that extra quality that you get with Windows or Macintosh. I like Linux a lot but it doesn't feel like you're using quality when you're on it.

OK I understand that but what about GIFS, are they on the same compression algorythm as the new PNG format? And is it worth converting all my icons, avatars etc from GIF to PNG? Also should I save future photos that I might recieve in PNG if they are not too colourful?
-
I heard that PNG is a cross between JPEG and GIF but with an even smaller file size. Nowadays I'm still using JPG for photos and GIF for graphics but I hope to convert them all to PNG when I have time to save space.
-
Some people pay up to $5 but nowadays you can get them very cheaply for example $1 or even less. Now that Gmail has spread so rapidly across everyone through the flood of accounts that Google have been giving out, there are lots of places you'll find free ones.

The musicmatch system of automatically tagging all your mp3 files is absolutely ingenius and the way it presents itself is very appealing. I heard rumours that Yahoo! are planning to take it over and create they're own music selling service based on Musicmatch Jukebox.

Mac is very reliable and user friendly but lots of really good applications and other good things you may want to use will only be avaliable to Windows users simply becuase it has such a huge majority of the market.

Media Player 10 has released. try it and tell me...
musichere replied to lheea's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I use iTunes to play all my music becuase everything is unbelievably well orgainised and it rarely crashes even though I have a poor quality computer. WMP is getting a bit too - 'Please buy our legal music' kind of mood. iTunes does this too but it doesn't push it on you.
