Do you use P2P programs? If so, what program are you using? Most P2P programs have been known to carry adware and third-party software that installs itself in your pc and slows it down. Before, i tried using Bearshare, WinMX & Kazaa Lite.

It's not just for porn and not only for paedophiles. You can use this if you don't want your internet activity to be known in your local network, especially by your Sys Admin. Since images and other stuff gets stored in the cache while surfing thru the web, you don't want others to know every thing you do in the web especially if you're at work.

Google toolbar is not the best pop-up blocker and it has spyware, it gathers information on what sites you visit. Firefox is a secure browser, not an antivirus program. To keep your pc safe from trojans, you need to install a good antivirus program and also a good firewall. If you want free software, try AVG antivirus and ZoneAlarm Basic which are both free.

Any predicitions on who's gonna win the NBA championship for this coming season? Most of the West teams have beefed up their lineups and you still have to worry about the bad boys from the east, the Detroit Pistons. Also, Miami now has a big guy named Shaquille O'Neal. Hehe, as if you don't know. Anyways, I'd still say it's gonna be Detroit for the Eastern conference and maybe San Antonio Spurs for the West. I picked these teams mainly because Detroit has kept its best players and still have a deep bench. San Antonio, because they still have Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in the team and have added good players. For me, they have the best chances of wining their respective conferences. But you can't ruleout other teams like Sacramento, Dallas, Houston & Denver. The Lakers this season has a good team but not really a championship contending team. In the east, Indiana & Miami (big guy's gonna flex his muscles). I can't wait til the season starts. =)

The last movie that i watched was Collateral, starring Tom Cruise & Jamie Foxx. It's quite an interesting movie. Started out to as a boring movie but the action from middle part to the end was good.

Photoshop VS Fireworks For web design...
prolifik replied to Reiji Kurosaky's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I use Adobe Photoshop and i haven't tried Macromedia's Fireworks even though i have the software. I think i should give it a try one of these days. Although Fireworks has other capabilities that Photoshop doesn't have, according to experts in photography, graphics design & web development, Photoshop overall is still the leader in its field. -
PaintShop Pro is a nice tool for image editing and graphic design. It has a few tools and functions that are neat. I also had the chance to use this software, however i had used Adobe Photoshop before and for me, nothing compares to Photoshop. Its quite expensive though, but Photoshop is the best software in the business.

prolifik replied to spyshow's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Hmm..good question. Me? Im not really an expert or professional in any of those two fields. But i can say that im good in programming and also good in graphic design. I do a decent job in programming and graphic design. Ok, for the sake of the poll i'd say im better in programming. -

Please specify what program you're using when you tried to insert an image using the copy + paste function. Not all programs use the same command or procedure in inserting images and you can't use the copy + paste all the time. Btw, its CTRL + C (copy) that you should do first, then CTRL + V (paste).

Yeah, i think Coppermine Photo Gallery is totally awesome. But you need to have a good webhost where you can upload your pictures. I think Xisto can be used with Coppermine since it supports PHP & MySQL. Maybe we should ask the admin about this coz i also want to upload pictures when i get my free webspace here. Btw, if you dont know what Coppermine is, "Coppermine is a multi-purpose fully-featured and integrated web picture gallery script written in PHP using GD or ImageMagick lib with a MySQL backend."

How do you partition your HDD? Personally, i haven't used a partition for my pc but i have done partitioning on HDD's previously in the company where i worked as desktop support. In the office i would use Norton's PartitionMagic and it was an easy way to partition a HDD. I also Googled "Partition software" and i found alot of programs that you can use for HDD partition. However, a friend of mine told me that using a third-party partitioning program isn't really that reliable. Any of you guys know anything partitioning? Kindly share your knowledge. Thanks!

Good question. You really should know HTML or basic HMTL first. Yeah, for beginners, a WYSIWYG type of HTML editor would be better. Either Frontpage or Dreamweaver would do, but i highly recommend and prefer Dreamweaver. Webpage designing doesn't only rely on the software and the codes. In making designs, it really depends on the persons artistic imagination or skills in designing. Like what bx93 said about learning code from other's sites and tutorials online, you can also get ideas about designs from looking at other's websites. Get ideas, don't copy them.

Aside from enabling and configuring your browsers to use proxy servers, you can also go to sites that let you surf anonymously. All you have to do is type in the website that you want to go to and it will take you there. Some of these sites are Anonymizer.com, Guardster, WebWarper, AnonymSufen.com, etc. You can search for it in Google. Just type in the keyword "anonymizers". There's even one site, Anonymization.net where you can download a toolbar and use it directly from IE. You just click on the icon and type in the site that you want to go to and click on Go.

How to Reduce Spams Let us help fight spams.
prolifik replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I totally agree about number 4. Based on my personal experience, i tried unsubscribing from different sites that keep sending me emails with ads and other stuff but after a few days or weeks, i'd still get emails from these sites. One in particular is FlowGo. So after reading about an article that you should never unsubscribe from these mailing lists, i followed it and what i do with those pesky spam mails, i just mark them as junk or spam and let my filters do the work. -
Stop anything from making it ur homepage!
prolifik replied to Thunder1405241469's topic in Websites and Web Designing
First of all, try to avoid Porn sites and Warez sites as these kind of sites have the most pop-ups that have malicious code in it that would mess up your pc's. If you can't avoid these type of sites, then don't just click the OK button on every pop-up window. Read them first. Most of these pop-ups have a CANCEL option, if not then you can manually close it by using the ALT+F4 combo. But be careful, make sure you selected the right window coz you might accidentally close a different window. Lastly, use a secure browser like Mozilla Firefox that has a built-in pop-up blocker. Hope this helps. -
I've been using Dot.tk's services for quite awhile now and it's been doin good. About that pop-up window, you can disable it. First of all you have to login to your account, then go to "My Marketing" and there you'll find an option where you can disable that pop-up.

I searched for it in the web and what i've found is that it's called a "commercial at-sign". Don't know if that's 100% correct. I myself call it "at-sign" coz that's what i hear and read what other people call it. It's quite interesting to know that people from other countries have their own names for this symbol.

Well said! Hehe, i totally agree to this. If you want a secure browser that has a very good pop-up blocker, better download and use Mozilla Firefox. All experts nowadays are advising people to switch to other browsers and stay away from IE. Mozilla Firefox is fast, has tabbed browsing, lots of themes & extensions you can download to customize the look and feel of your browser and best of all, its FREE! =)

Service Pack 2 of Windows XP Talk about the sp2 of WinXp
prolifik replied to xelloss's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've been using Windows SP2 for quite awhile now and so far i dont have any problems. SP2 has been known to conflict with some programs that you've already installed so think before you download & install SP2. Also, it's advised that you back up any important files and data before installing Windows SP2. And if you're using a pirated version of Windows XP, better not download or install SP2 coz you wont be able to download anymore updates from Microsoft. =) -
How to password protect a file can some one help me
prolifik replied to UberVamp44's topic in Websites and Web Designing
If you want to password protect files and folders, there several programs that let's you do just that. But these programs aren't for free. There was one program that i used before, LockFolder when i was still running on Windows 98. But when i shifted to Windows XP, it wouldn't work any longer. SUCKS! haha -
Yeah, same here. What i usually do to free up space is to clear out the temporary internet files, delete all files inside the "C:\Windows\Temp" folder, clear the recycle bin, etc. Also by selecting only the necessary programs on Startup would make your pc load faster.

I myself have been using both programs, Mozilla Firefox & Trillian for about 2 years now and lately i switched my mail client from Netscape to Mozilla Thunderbird. If you're using Firefox, Thunderbird is a great "sidekick". It has very good filtering against junk mail and it also has Themes & Extensions that you can download to customize it. =)
