Here's a site that provides definitions to terms and acronyms of everything related to the web. The site's name is Webopedia: an online dictionary and search engine for computer and internet technology definitions. Dunno if you guys heard of it before or know about it. Anyways, that's where i lookup web terms and acronyms if i don't know 'em.

Photoshop VS Fireworks For web design...
prolifik replied to Reiji Kurosaky's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
If you have any P2P programs like Kazaa, you can always look for Adobe Photoshop and download it there. But if you want a legal copy, then it's really gonna cost you alot. Some softwares have free alternatives, but nothing comes close to Photoshop so it either you get a buy a legal copy or get a bootleg version. -

P2P programs(merged) What P2P program are you using?
prolifik replied to prolifik's topic in Computer Networks
You can use other P2P programs for free. You don't have to buy a program to download files in P2P networks. If you want a spyware, adware, trojan, worm & virus free program there's an alternative in Kazaa Lite or Kazaa Lite Resurrection. It works exactly the same as a regular Kazaa. Like the saying goes, "The best things in life are free". Hehe. -
That happened to me once. I was checking my bulk mail folder in Yahoo mail and saw that one of the emails was from a friend of mine. I haven't received an email from that person before so there was no way for me to have blacklisted the address or categorized it as spam. However, the email had an attachment. I guess Yahoo considered it as spam and diverted it to the bulk mail folder.

Just wondering which search engine do you guys use for research or plainly looking up something in the web. Google? Yahoo? Lycos? Hotbot? Dogpile? Or do you know of any other search engine in the web, share it with us. I used to go with Yahoo or Lycos. Now, i just Google.

Your request to be hosted in Xisto was denied because you didn't follow the rules for this forum. You made several posts that you copy + paste from different sites and most of your posts here are only one liners and that is considered spamming. Read first the rules for this forum and try making decent posts.

What OS do you use ?? was just curious about this
prolifik replied to gokul1405241470's topic in General Discussion
My pc is running on Windows XP Professional SP2. I've been using it for less than a year. So far, i have no problems with it and everything is running smoothly. I used Windows 98 SE for a long time before i switched to XP. Never liked Windows ME, it sucks! -
What i meant was, you don't want them to know what your internet activities are, that's why you want to be anonymous. Yeah they can see what you're browsing but if you use a proxy and your IP address is masked then they can't pinpoint which machine/computer it is, right? Or am i wrong again? Hehehe.

I also have problems viewing some websites, but this is because the web programmers made that site to comply with IE's standards and not with the W3 (World Wide Web Consortium) standards. Mozilla Firefox conformes to W3 standards. You should try Thunderbird, its a very good program to compliment your Firefox. Thunderbird has a very good and intelligent junk mail filter.

If you install Mozilla Firefox, you really should install Flash, Shockwave, Java, etc. But is it really a big deal? With Firefox you get a fast, stable and most importantly, a secure browser. Once you have theses things installed, im sure you'll be happy you switched to Firefox. Note: Mozilla Firefox users are advised to switch to Firefox Preview Release because Firefox 0.8 and Firefox 0.9.x suffer from a flaw in downloading which could lead to lost data. Hahaha..this is a good idea! You can ask a friend who has PSP or Photoshop to do it for you or ask somebody in this forum to help you out. You can email them the image and tell them where you want the effect to be placed. *mrc : please read the rules for posting. posts that are less than 3 lines are considered spam in this forum. better be careful, just a friendly reminder.

True, true, true! You don't just go unchecking stuff in Startup. You might be disabling some drivers that important programs use. You have to know what you're doing. Meaning, that you should know which programs or files you should disable in the startup. Better to ask first before you do any unchecking or disabling in the Startup area.

I'm not yet hosted here in Xisto, but one of the reasons why i came here is because you guys don't have forced-ads. One thing i could suggest for you guys to advertise Xisto in client's websites is for them to have a button or small banner inserted anywhere in their index page with the message "hosted by Xisto" or something. A button or banner like the one in my sig but a little bit smaller would be enough and i don't think hostees would mind that in exchange for the great service.

P2P programs(merged) What P2P program are you using?
prolifik replied to prolifik's topic in Computer Networks
P2P networks exist because of people who share files. If everybody wouldn't want to share their files then the network won't survive or even exist. If you don't want to share your files then i don't think you should use P2P programs or access P2P networks. And again, its up to you on how much files you want to share. -

Yeah, Kazaa has alot of spyware and adware. But you can use the alternative Kazaa Lite or Kazaa Lite Resurrection. The owner of Kazaa filed a lawsuit against the creators of Kazaa Lite becoz many people preferred to download Kazaa Lite coz it didn't have adware. Kazaa makes money thru the spyware and adware bundled to it's software. Kazaa Lite is exactly the same as Kazaa except for the adware and its free. *i also tried using Bittorrent and its really good if you're looking for new files and the downloads are fast. -
This is about a new flaw in Internet Explorer and how it renders one of the most common image formats in the web, the "JPEG". The code that enables a hacker to exploit this flaw is out to the public and therefore in a matter of a couple of weeks, we'll be expecting a new virus that uses this exploit. The GDIplus DLL (Graphic Device Interface plus) or gdiplus.dll is only enabled in Windows 2000 & XP. So if you're running on an older version of Windows and if you've upgraded to XP SP2, then you're not vulnerable to this exploit. Read more about it here *switching to Firefox is the first step, but not the whole solution.

mac or windows? which do u think is better
prolifik replied to wannabeeaweak's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I haven't used a Mac but from what i've heard from friends, people who use Mac and from reading articles and reviews, what jtakano said is true. Mac is a good machine when you want to use it for photo & video editing, desktop publishing, etc. My friend who's in this kind of business is using a Mac but at home, he uses Windows. Mac softwares are expensive and hard to find. With Windows, you have to sacrifice with the security, stability & performance in exchange for the softwares you can use with it.
