  1. Whenever a beggar approaches me I don't know what to feel. I know we have an obligation to help the poor but sometimes as it comes out, its the poor who can't help themselves. In my country it's against the law to give alms to beggars for some reasons like they might be helping fund drug lords' operations (Yeah I know how little you can get from begging but these drug lords use a lot of beggars even children!) I don't if I am going to follow the law. But sometimes I am inclined to because most beggars don't use the money people give them for their essential needs such as food. For instance some of them might just use it to buy drugs, alcohol, to gamble etc. I once saw a child I gave money to because he said he was very hungry but then a few minutes later I saw him using the money to bet in some gambling game he and his pals were into. What do you think? Should we give alms to these beggars and give them the benefit of the doubt ?
  2. In my opinion I think badminton is a girly sport. It's just about laterals anyway. I don't mind ladies playing it. But men should go into something more physical such as American Football, Rugby or Football or at least something that's harder than whacking air such as tennis or swimming.
  3. The two things I know that maybe is related to your country are football teams. But that rules out Arminia Bielefeld because that comes from Germany. But does the football team Armenia Bratislava come from your country as well? They're doing pretty well in the Champion's League.
  4. The Internet is just what the name implies, a collection of servers that are connected together. I THINK the internet derives it's name from INTERconnected NETworks. That's the most logical thing if you were to base it from the definition. But a lot of people don't know that. Their idea of the internet is probably limited to the browser, chat and e-mail.
  5. I guess those unrelated courses are better off given in high school because, more or less, exposing a student to a wide variety of disciplines gives him a preview on some things that this world finds useful and eventually let him decide what he wants. But, yeah, I guess you're right. I don't see any reason why one should get those unrelated courses. I take a lot of subjects that are completely unrelated to my course (Computer Science) such as Philosophy 1 and Psychology 1. My University calls it GENERAL EDUCATION and that's the best explanation they can give you. But come to think of it, we have to develop as holistic individuals. One can't just be extremely good in IT. He also has to have some knowledge of other disciplines as well. Imagine a Computer Scientist who can't express his ideas because he has a poor command of the English language. Maybe these subjects will come in handy sometime. Who knows?
  6. Real Madrid is different. How I wished I would be the one managing their transfers. They may have a lot of money but I guess they don't know how to spend their money wisely. They don't get the right results because either because Luxemburgo can't come up with the right combination of players to form a winning team or becasue they don't have the right players where they are most needed (Hint: defense). Chelsea on the other hand don't only have star-players they have a coach and a manager who knows what he needs and how to use them. But I have nothing against spending your money wisely or knowing the right combinations of players. What I am against, personally, is what is happening to chelsea know. They have the ability to buy whoever they want, a boss who will pay for the whims and caprices of his manager's "needs" and a style of play whose entertainment value is not much above nil. They have star players for almost every position and another star player substitute for him. Not many clubs can afford to do that. I am not a fan of the premiere league because I support Bayern but I really like it when Arsenal or West Ham play. Their style is exciting to watch.
  7. My favorite football team is Bayern-Munich. I grew up in Bamberg and my family and I returned to the Philippines, I have been following them like crazy. They're a very organized and efficient team. I like their style better than the free-flowing football teams such as Barca or Real Madrid. I don't really have one favorite player. I haven't seen one who is really complete; complete in the sense that he is flexible in a lot of positions. I play defensive midfield and leftback and I like players who are more like "team players" rather than superstars. That would mean someone like Claude Makalele. His role is not a very glamourous one but it is very vital. But I have my favorites for each position. Some other players I like: Goalkeepers: Oliver Kahn Timo Hildebrand Michael Rensing Defenders: Arne Friedrich Jens Nowotny Christoph Metzelder Ashley Cole Midfielders: Claude Makalele Cristiano Ronaldo Bastian Scweinsteiger Michael Ballack Forwards: Thierry Henry Lukas Podolski David Trezeguet GO Bayern!!
