  1. That's actually not true. A diamond is made of carbon, but it's not the most stable form of carbon. Diamonds eventually turn into graphite, which is the most stable form of carbon. This process takes about hundreds of thousands of years, so women won't see their diamond rings turn to useless junk before their eyes. So a diamond is really not forever. They lied. But that is not why I am against diamonds. Thousands of years is long enough for me. It's the idea of using love, one of the highest, purest ideals, and turning it into something that costs at least two months of work that is wrong. Love is priceless. There is no degree of purity and no price tag on love. The diamond company is using diamonds to turn love into something that must be proven, that can be shown off to friends, that glitters like a promise. The bigger and brighter it is, the bigger the promise. The more expensive it is, the more it seems to mean that her husband or fiancee loves her more. How stupid is that? Since when is the diamond a classic symbol of love? Since when does having a diamond on your finger a guarantee that your marriage will last forever? Since when does it mean that he will never cheat on you, that he will worship that ground you walk on? Only love is love. Men who give their women expensive diamonds as an elaborate mark of their territory are only fooling themselves. Sadly, diamonds are only too badly overpriced. Why? Because De Beers only releases a certain amount every year to keep the price artificially high. Then every winter they put on a commercial urging men to buy diamonds to prove their love. There are plenty of couples who are happily married even though the husband spent two months' worth of his paychecks on a diamond ring. I don't believe the diamond has anything to do with it. A diamond ring cannot make your love work. So why spend a fortune on it? Because the TV tells you to? Why does love have to be so materialistic?
  2. Blogging is a great way to let friends and family know what's going on with your life, or with your mind? It's a nice outlet for the budding, amateur writer. Who in here has a blog that they update regularly?
  3. Short and skinny girl here...I'm 5'1" and I weigh 95 lbs.
  4. Well...it depends on your definition of a waste of time. Homework and laundry are generally necessary, not a waste of time. While partying and having too much fun is...fun, in the long run they can hurt you. I don't believe in "live everyday as if it's your last" because it gives people excuse to be irresponsible, unreliable, etc...it's your last day, who cares about the consequences, right? I would say just do what is good for you and be true to yourself. Don't give yourself excuses, because life won't excuse your mistakes.
  5. I like number 13, because it's associated with someone very special. :-)
  6. Maybe next life you could be both huh? J/k, but that might work if you're born rich, so you can use the money to become a hot female, then change back.Just kidding, don't get mad.
  7. He sounds like a big *BLEEP*! No one deserves people like him--except people like him! Good luck in the future. I hope you can find some way to draw a line between trust and looking out for your best interest.
  8. What is that kingdom people always forget?? Protists! From what I have heard, in Buddhism, reincarnation gives the soul a chance to repay what it owed in the previous life, or make up for what was lacking. For example, if you were poor and mistreated in this life, and if you have lived honestly, then in the next life you may be born into affluence. On the other hand, if in this life you lived like Hitler, then may be in the next life you will be a sewer rat.If you could choose your next life, what would you become? If you want to be human again, would you want to fall in love with the same person? Would you want to live in the same country? Of course, this is for all who believe in reincarnation or think it's kind of neat.If I can't be human, I would choose to be a squirrel that lives on a college campus. Those little critters are so lucky!
  9. Most likely she is at least a little curious and a little interested in you if she asks something like that...But that doesn't necessarily mean she wants to be your girlfriend. You have to put it in a context: how long have you known her, did you have a good conversation, her tone of voice, etc...I think most girls who just meet a guy don't want to be his gf right away.I guess it's safe to assume that she is a little interested and go from there (if you just meet her). If you had a long and profound convo then she is probably pretty interested and is considering it. So if you just meet her don't assume she wants you.
  10. I used to play Ragnarok! Back when it was still free...what a cute game! I wonder how many people are playing now...When I have free time I love to read, and just sit around. That's so hard to do now with all this school. :-(
  11. vertical would be something like this:y=x/0+3yeah, impossible huh? that should be right although you won't get it in a graphing calculator because anything over 0 is undefined. It's so sad that after all these years the mathematicians still haven't found something else to describe it.
  12. I know one person who did not do any of the homework his teacher assigned. None of them! And guess what, he...failed the class. It's okay, homework builds your character and prepares you for college (assuming you're not yet in college).
  13. If you like detective novels with witty, resourceful heroines and good plots definitely check out Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series. It kept me laughing for hours. Almost like Harry Potter but for college people.
  14. Well, I feel sad for A because she seemed to like you more, and somehow I have the feeling that you never liked A as much as you liked K. You liked her, that's for sure, but if she didn't express interest in you you would never be with her. I don't understand the part why you started started thinking about K more after your cell phone bill went up. Is it because you talked to her less so your feelings for A couldn't stay strong enough?
  15. Wow, neopets still exist? I remember playing it ages ago, but I wasn't too addicted to it because of the slow internet connection that never allowed me to get much money...The site impressed me though. I wonder how many people work on it. There were some cool games that I could never win. I decided I wanted a real, normal-looking pet instead. Like a cute puppy.
  16. so your conversation sometimes goes like this: "yeah...i have lots of homework today" "lol" "i don't understand this physics problem" "lol" "look at this website i just made!" "lol" come on...you can't expect her to laugh all the time...genuine is being true to your character. she likes saying "lol", so she says it all the time. i don't think it makes her any less genuine. a person who's not genuine, for example, would say they like something that they hate just so they could make you interested.
  17. I think you should get to know her more as a friend before doing anything. It seems like you talk occasionally, so it's a good idea to talk to her more often to at least find out what you like about her. I know you think you're not too young, but there is plenty of time, trust me. You are both young and it's not likely she'll settle down anytime soon. If you truly like her become a good friend to her first, that way both of you will grow up and learn more about each other without becoming involved too early.
  18. ok, snlildude87, I hate to do this AGAIN but it's definitely, not definately. Think infinite...
  19. orange! i think the orange one brought out the white brushes more, but both look great!
  20. You know that car that gets passed and cut in front of by other cars on the highway? That car may be going 55 mph while other cars go 65 mph not because the driver is afraid of getting a ticket, but because it's one way to increase fuel efficiency: http://www.cartalk.com/content/eco-area-4 I was that driver today and it was really HARD. With every other car zooming past me I felt like I was crawling, but it felt good knowing I saved some money (I think). Does anyone else have other tips for driving more efficiently?
  21. Nope, absolutely no stairs, not even at the front door, and I don't miss them!
  22. I know snlildude87 does TKD :-)Is Judo Japanese martial arts too?
  23. I used to think blogs are stupid, but once I get used to them they're great distracters because most of my friends keep a blog. It's a way for me to know what's going on in their lives without awkward conversations, etc...Hmm, I guess if they're really my friends I wouldn't mind talking to them. Oh well.
  24. It's hard to believe that the Chief Justice is no longer William Rehnquist. He was the answer to the citizenship exam question: Who is the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court? Ans: William Rehnquist. Wow...Personally, I think Bush brings death to his people in a karma-like way. So many people have died during his terms already. Just think, during Bush's reign all kinds of natural disasters occured (hurricanes, tsunamis), war, terrorist attacks, Supreme Court Justices died...Of course, I'm not saying that Bush wants these things to happen or is directly responsible for them. He probably can't do much about most of them, but he has bad luck I tell you.
  25. Wow, great question! For me it's always my school's Microsoft Outlook email to check my mail and public discussion forum...My school is really small (just over 1000 students) so everyone practically knows each other so discussion can get interesting, especially over controversial issues (race, abortion, and more race). It's funny no one puts down xanga.com...
