A Cheap Domain Name. Registars with low prices.
derekchoi2 replied to zenia's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah I know! But for beginners that want to try out sites, it is a free way. If you want to go professional, go buy a domain. It's also good for people that aren't able to pay for domains!Just making a point -

Another good suggestion is:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ domains, but no hosting. you can always get free hosting at webfreehosting.net without any ads.my site is up, using both their services, which are free to use!! -

FTP/SFTP is a method of transferring files that most webhosts use, so its nice to know how it is done For Macs Navigate your browser to https://cyberduck.io/ and download the latest version of CyberDuck. Drag the application to wherever you want it to be (most probably /Applications) and open the app. You will see a window that looks similar to the one below: Click Open Connection on the top left corner, and select one of the many transfer protocols (most probably FTP/STP). type in the Server, Username, and Password (provided by webhost. if not, contact them). Then click connect, and youre in! That window shows the server's files, and you upload/download by dragging files to and from the window, which I think is really nice. ---------------------------------------- For PCs Navigate your browser to https://winscp.net/eng/index.php and download the latest version of WinSCP. Depending on the type of package you downloaded, install and run (installation package) or just run (portable package) the WinSCP. You will see a window that looks similar to the one below: Type/Paste in the Host Name, Username, and Password (all should be provided by webhost. if not, contact them). Change the Protocol to FTP/SFTP depending on your webhost. click login, and you're in! The left side is your computer's files, and the right is the files on the server. Simply drag and drop files between the two, and files are being transferred! Also, the application mentioned above for macs (Cyberduck) also has a Windows version, which you can try. I haven't tested it yet, but it seems promising because the mac version is really nice and I have been using it for a few years already ---------------------------------------- So that concludes this tutorial. Any questions, please PM/Email me NOTE: all applications I mentioned are free download and use. Happy Website-uploading!!!

It depends...I own a 12-core Mac pro, and it helps me a lot, because I do a lot of video editing/encoding. I was actually surprised when I upgraded from my previous core 2 duo, which I already considered pretty fast. If you do a lot of video work, it is quite important, because you will be wasting a lot of valuable editing time if you don't have fast processors.Hope I helped!

What Are The Factors On Which The Speed Of A Computer Depends?
derekchoi2 replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Software
Hey guys,I can confirm that a 12-core system is pretty darn fast.12-core mac pro: 20gb ram, 2.66ghz intel Xeon "Westmere".its like 50 times faster than my macbook pro, which isn't bad either.Macbook Pro: 8gb ram, 3.06ghz intel core 2 duo.ram matters a lot, because when I first purchased my macpro, it had only 6gb of ram, which made it a lot slower. it was 6x1gb ram, which i think is slower than having 3x2gb ram because it was slower than my macbook pro, which was 2x4gb ram. After the upgrade, 4x4gb ram + 4x1gb ram = 20gb ram, and a sped up system a by a lot.conclusion:If you have a really fast processor, you will need a large amount of ram to go with it, otherwise the processor is wasted.personal experience, not professionally proven in any way. -
Guys with netbooks, you should have a go at jolicloud. https://www.jolicloud.com/ I just discovered this, and after installing, i was amazed. Even though its based on GNOME, everyhting looks different, and since its based on the cloud, is a pretty small installation. I'd like to consider it as a better version of chrome os. I tried chrome os first, but really disliked it. This runs almost smoothly, but with an occasional lag, on my Acer Aspire One 751h, which has a 1Ghz Intel Atom Processor and only 1GB of ram, so it should run better on other machines.

How To Copy File & Folders From Linux To Windows?.
derekchoi2 replied to kanade's topic in Websites and Web Designing
you talking about on same computer or different?if same, i use a flash drive, or for some of the larger files, ill use my external hard-drive. another method is to use an online backup service to "backup" the file, then download from the other partition. directly mounting and copying files is also available, as linux has support for ntfs partitions without any extra programs. on windows you will have to install another program, something along thif different, i usually prefer transferring directly, so i transfer files over ftp, sometimes also over online backup services such as dropbox. this is basically the same as the methods used if the operating systems are on the same machine, but without the direct mounting and copying and adding the method of ftp.good luck with things!
