I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about what's going to be happening with the newest forum software in the phpBB line, Olympus, it's been in developlment wihtout any real progress or note of progress at all, is it still comming, and if so are we going to see a demo or anything?

Here is a little guide to setting up a proxy for both IE and FireFox. First I'd go to http://www.samair.ru/proxy/ and choose yourself a good Elite Proxy or Elite Proxy +, the first few ones may not work, or may work extremely slow. IE Click Tools> Internet Options (click to enlarge) Click on the connections tab. (click to enlarge) Click the button labled "Lan Settings"> Check the box labled "Use a proxy server for your LAN" (click to enlarge) Click "Advanced" enter the info for the proxy you choose, In the "Proxy Address" collumn enter the IP address it gave you, or the number before the ":", and in the "Port" collumn enter the Port Number, or the number after the ":" Then click OK> OK> OK> (click to enlarge) FireFox Go to Tools> Options (click to enlarge) Go to "General" and click connection settings. (click to enlarge) Check the box labled "Manually Configure Proxy", enter the Proxy info the same way as it was done in the IE guide, IP Address first (numbers before the ":"), Port Number second (numbers after the ":") Then click OK> OK (click to enlarge)

I don't know if anyone has heard about this, but apparently George W. Bush was going to have something like an interview or something like that with some soldiers in Iraq, and his secretary of publicity or something like that was rehearsing what they where to say to him, this was all caught on video and released (trying to find this now...)and she said something like "If he asks something we didn't go over I hope you'll make us proud", so I guess in a way that's so much as goodbye to the limited freedome of speech we do have left. Is it just me or does anyone else dislike Bush even less now?I really hope he commits a crime so he can be impeached already, why did anybody vote for him, that war is rediculous!!! :PNow this is getting me started on other things too... I remember reading after Hurrican Katrina that someone in Asia said that America was paying for invading Iraq, this makes me really mad, and even slightly racist which I hate to think myself as, I don't think anyone in the rest of the world really understands that few people in America support Bush, and as far as I am concerned those who do are complete idiotic fools.I really am disgusted with the World right now, it's time like these that I'd opt to nuke the rest of the world, but I geuss that's a bit extreme and childish... Oh well...

I'm deeply apauled how much quicker the response from America to the Pakistan eathquake was in comparison to Hurricane Katrina, not that the victims of this quake don't need or deserve help, I just don't see why we can't help our own country as quick as we can help others... :mellow:And this is why I hate Bush.

Oh, that's what they are, I always thought it had to do with the Mac(intosh) Operating System. I feel extremely stupid... Well, at least the topic starter didn't know either...

OK, wow, thanks for all of the help everyone, I think I will try out some of the LiveCD's you guys recomended first, then if I like it enough I will actually install the full thing on my PC.And if i like it enough I might get rid of Windows completely, but I would be giving up some of the programs that are for windows only that I like, but I can make sacrifices...

The big bang and life it's self is perplexing, I tpyically opt not to think of it, it hurts my head, no I'm not stupid, I actually see myself as pretty smart, I'm in all honors classes, and do well in school. But think of this, something had to have created the universe and life, the big bang you may say, but what created the big bang, god? Well what created god? Everything must fall into exsistance somehow... How is it in any possibility that we exsist, it is impossible for anything to be exsist, yet impossible for anything not to exsist. Since EVERYTHING must be created somehow and nothing can just create it's self then there is no way anything could have ever been made, but the fact we can all think, see, and live proves it is impossible for there to be nothing. It's something that will, and never will be answered, why is there life, why is there the universe, it's the age old question, and no matter what anyone who is highly or even slightly religious says, god would have had to have been created by something, and that something by something, and so on, it's really not possible at all to form a hypothesis, and in my opinion anyone who does is entirely wrong, I cannot form a hypothesis, nor can you or anyone else.

I have some questions about switching to Linux, first off, approximentely how much space would it take to Dual boot Linux and Windows? How would I dual-boot Linux and Windows? Which free (keyword free) Linux version would be best to use/ safest? Can anybody also give me some more info about Linux, I've heard alot about it, and do know a fair amount about it, but I know there are people who know so much more, so please inform me.

I just bought a licensed 2.1 board, and all I have to say is WOW! This release has SO much, Xisto should use it (if it won't take to much work to redo the credit system and any other MODs for the site)Here's what I've found in it that's cool:-WYSIWYG editor (what you see is what you get) it makes posts in RTF format so you don't ever need to hit preview.-Improved skin editor and skin engine all-together.-RSS (really simple syndication) easily accessed via ACP-Per admin section permissions (create Admins with limited power)-Multiple calendars-Display name along with Login Name (make login name and name displayed in posts different)-Topic rating-Various AJAX additions to make the forums easier to use, and more functional.

Here's my assesment: I really think it depends on the CPU you are buying from each brand, from experiance, I have found the Intel Xeon to blow every AMD away in gaming and bussiness-style applications. However, the Xeons are pretty expensive, and aren't used very often in PC's you can buy from a manufacturer like Dell or IBM. They usually seem to use Intel Pentium 4 processors. But other than the Xeon AMD's seem to blow Intel away in speed, however they aren't very stable or a very good deal, I've had quite a few AMD's set on fire from running mediocre tasks, no Intel-based CPU has yet to date ever became a candle stick on me to date. So in short I'd definatley go with Intel, just make sure you get the Xeon if you're willing to spend the dough.

It's a fantastic 3D simulator game, you've probably heard of it before, you get to build and maintain your own theme park/ amusement park, and build all sorts of rides and rollercoasters for it.You can make paths, add decorations and scenery, you can hire entertainers, and assign them patrol areas to be used in combonation with scenery and signs to make different park sections.It comes with a built-in firework editor so you can hold firework or light shows in your park.You can also hire mechanics, handymen, and all sorts of staff members.You can even customize your park geusts to look like you and your family/friends...Who plays this game besides me, andyone got some park screenshots to share?

It's definatley GML, let us go over some of the many uses of GML... -Online programming (mplay) that can be used to make program updaters, online multiplayer games, chat programs, or even browsers with the right initiative and a .dll or two... -3D drawing functions (d3d) draw your 2d game into a 3d world, or make 3d models or 3d modeling programs. -ini functions (.ini) write, open, and/or read .ini files to store variables in them and then read them later for dynamic saving systems. -instance activation/deactivation for making games run faster and smoother, or making an enemy stay still until you near them... -Much, much more, so much that everyone reading this who uses Game Maker would have at least one thing to add to it.

The security of phpBB are you kidding me? Please tell me you are... phpBB really isn't secure. I like IPB, it has many tools that seem like way too much at first, but once you take the time to learn them it works well, I reccomend you use http://www.zifboards.com/ for one, because great software like that doesn't come free.

Ahh, figured out number 3, it's tricky it is...

Not too bad, it's a pretty simple counter, but it get's the job done.I've been trying to figure out this one though, how do we make a download counter, that one is a bit harder isn't it? I suppose we'd make a page that would open the file's URL in a redirect, but also add to the counter and direct them to that instead of the counter?

I'm now starting a new online game using GMSock, however I've already done online, so now I'm going to try online and 3d at the same time, it might be a bit hard, however it'll be the 3d part, I've only tried 3D a few times.I don't think it'll be too hard, just need to make sure it's drawing perfectly...OK, well I'm off to go work on my game.

I've heard about cloaking before, but I've never really known what it is until now. But I'm still confused after looking at the posts microscopic^earthling recomended, I'm not really sure how to go about effectively and safely using it without getting classified as spam by a search engine like Google, can anyone elaborate on this technique?
