Running One File On Multiple Instances Or Windows [Solved]

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to open one document file (MS Word 2010) in two separate Word Windows...I have two screens and i'm writing something but i would like to view separate parts of the file at once... i know split view does work but thats within one window, i wanna see one file running in two windows (instances)

Open your document.Click Window, new window.It will open your document in another window.I constantly have at least three instances of the same document in three different windows, because I have several themes on the same subject : what has to be done, how to do it, tips concerning this, which part is currently beeing executed, and mails which are currently being written.

nope doesn't work for me... Windows 7 - MS Word 2010

Huh? It works on my office 2003, I will try later on my Office 2010 machine. By the way, I told "new window", not "new document"

you mean a new window with an empty document? i remember seeing that in 2007 or 2003 Office... this 2010 doesn't seem to do that (or maybe i just don't know how to)

Though I don't know the answer to @manuleka's problem, but I am wondering how is saving of the document managed when multiple instances are open at once. I mean will the whole document be saved (all changes made in all instances) when ctrl+s is pressed in any of the open windows or just the part open in the respective window will be saved. it is kind of confusing for me.....

I've seen this on Linux and when i open two instances of a text file, once i start editing one copy the other window will have some warning color to update/refresh it

it works fine, you change something in the first window and you see in the second window that is has been changed too.
Seems that this Office2000/Office2003 feature disapeared in office 2010, or I have to learn it again.

i hope it isn't... but yea i do remember this feature on earlier versions... i don't know if 2007 does support it or not

Got it!It works with Word 2010 full version.You go to view, new window, it opens the same document in a new window.It works also with the Word viewer.It does not work with Word 2010 starter edition, which is a limited version of the full product.
